Pour sauver son père, qui souffre d'un cancer en phase terminale, Hazel accepte le marché proposé par Byron. Pendant douze semaines, celui-ci va administrer à Herb un traitement expérimental. En échange, Hazel se comportera en épouse dévouée. Si Byron espère reconquérir son épouse pendant ce laps de temps, Hazel ne lui laisse pas grand espoir. Parallèlement, Jay, un agent du FBI, a réussi à infiltrer le Hub, espérant récolter des preuves contre Byron et ses projets aussi illégaux qu'extravagants. Paula Abdul, star de la pop des années 1980-1990, rejoint le casting dans le rôle d'un hologramme.
