00:00Welcome to Decentralized News. In today's video, I just want to talk about Ember Sword, which is
00:05an NFT-driven MMORPG game. So it is an NFT-based MMORPG game created by Brightstar Studios. The
00:19game is aiming to create an open immersive virtual world for its users that would integrate
00:29immutable X-NFTs. So after a $204 million land sale in 2021, Brightstar is now aiming for
00:38full release by the end of 2023. And so Ember Sword is actually pretty much becoming to,
00:46you know, or hoping to become the first Web3 MMORPG game developed by the Danish company
00:54Brightstar Studios. The game describes itself as an open world sandbox role-playing game inspired by
01:00MMORPG giants, such as World of Warcraft, RuneScape, Guild Wars, etc. Ember Sword places emphasis on
01:08accessibility, focusing on removing barriers to entry for players and MMORPG veterans alike.
01:14There are no specific classes at the moment, as is common in other role-playing games. Instead,
01:20Ember Sword lets players experience everything the game has to offer, such as leveling up skills,
01:26crafting, and combat all through a single character. So Ember Sword is set in a fantasy
01:31universe called Thanibus. It's made up of four distinct nations, Daskarone, Ediso, Severin,
01:38Solarwood. The nations are broken up into three territories, Kingship, Outlaw, and Wilderness,
01:44offering unique game objectives from player versus player combat to open world boss fights. So Ember
01:51Sword will also leverage blockchain technology to facilitate community involvement and give players
01:56ownership of their in-game assets. Future Ember Sword land plots will be tokenized as NFTs on Immutable
02:03X along with various cosmetic and vanity items that players can also use to customize their characters
02:09and decorate their plots. So it's quite an interesting one. They say that it's unlike many
02:16existing MMORPGs that operate using a pay-to-pay subscription model, Ember Sword will launch as a
02:24free-to-play game. So Brightstar will generate its revenue by taking a commission from Ember Sword
02:30NFT sales, meaning that the company's success is tied to the game's success to ensure the game actually
02:36flourishes. They've also tried to make sure that, you know, they are focusing quite heavily on
02:42building a flourishing community and, you know, you know, addressing some of the pain points in
02:49existing MMORPGs. One of the most important aspects of MMORPGs is the social experience that
02:55they offer. So role-playing games give players an escape to a fantasy world to slay dragons and demons,
03:03but they also offer the chance to work cooperatively with other players and forge new relationships
03:10along the way to help Ember Sword players interact with one another. The designers have created a
03:15single expansive world that everyone can participate in at the same time, rather than using multiple
03:20servers of the same game, that each host is sort of a limited number of players. So they say that,
03:26you know, according to one of the founders, you know, that they want a big board that is actually
03:31connected. So to obviously fill up this social vision, Brightstar is actually using proprietary
03:37artificial intelligence as well, that engine to encourage a player interaction and the AI will
03:43introduce like dynamic difficulty depending on a player's skill level. I suggest routes and
03:48objectives that allow players to cross paths and work together and make suggestions tailored to the
03:53player's title. In addition to promoting a cooperation, the AI also helps players find and attack each other
03:59in player versus player scenarios, facilitating even more interaction and actually bringing the Ember Sword
04:05life to life as well. So Ember Sword is also aiming to improve on existing MMO games by making it easy for
04:13players to join. Brightstar has created its own in-game engine to run Ember Sword, allowing for faster
04:20browse play or browser-based gameplay without the need to download a specialized client or load huge amounts of
04:27data before you're able to play. So they made it easy to jump in and do something cool. And, you know,
04:33the NFTs are actually sort of in the form of land of cosmetics. So last year, Brightstar sold 40,000
04:40Ember Sword land NFTs on the Ethereum scaling solution polygon for total about 204 million.
04:47The plots came in five different land types, land settlement, city, town and capital and regular
04:51land plots. Owners and the ser lady title are set to contain features such as campsites, NPC houses,
04:59resource deposits, monster spawns, and they'll be unveiled as the game also and the world unfolds.
05:05So, however, the settlements, towns, cities will allow owners to build structures
05:09as well that other players can use in the game. Additionally, towns and cities as well will
05:16exclusively support exchanges offering the players the chance to buy and sell NFTs, these cosmetic NFTs
05:22and other in-game assets as well. So when trades take place on the exchanges, a small fee will be
05:28split 50-50 between the landowner and Brightstar, allowing players to play in passively from their
05:35land plots as well. So additionally, regardless of type, you know, all land plots will receive a portion
05:40of the revenue generated by the areas around them. And yeah, so, you know, they also, you know, feature
05:45cosmetic tokenized items. These won't, you know, while these won't actually be giving players any
05:53material advantage in the game, they can also be used to modify the appearance of the actual players
05:57and land plots in the game. So cosmetic customization as well is going to be a big part of the game
06:05and this will be in the form of the NFTs. So yeah, this is quite an interesting one. You know,
06:11these guys have been working on this stuff for quite a while and, you know, they're still in
06:16development and it'll be quite interesting to see how that all develops. I'll be keeping an eye on it.
