00:00My buddy, Greg Wise.
00:01Yeah.
00:02Absolute great friend.
00:04Both his sons played for me.
00:06I learned so much basketball from, from Greg.
00:08I mean, there are so many guys that, you know, over the course of, of, of, of coaching,
00:12I learned a lot from, you know, a lot of coaches around, but Greg was always there.
00:16Everything we did with, you know, pressing and scouting.
00:20He really helped me a lot learning how to scout basketball players just as a person,
00:25as a man, Greg, Greg is, is one of the best to ever walk Jack Yates High School last night.
00:33Can I, can I shout it out?
00:34Yeah.
00:34I am a former Jack Yates High School student.
00:38Well, you should have brought this up.
00:38Yeah.
00:39No, no.
00:40So I'm, I'm glad that you did.
00:41I should have worn my hoodie then.
00:42I'm so glad that you brought it up because back when I was in school, Greg was actually
00:46coaching at Hightower and I'm the grade behind his son, Nick, who obviously, you know, Nick
00:50Wise.
00:50Yeah.
00:50He played for me.
00:51So did Dondre.
00:52Right.
00:52And so I watched him play, watched him as kind of a, a, an underclassman sort of phenom
00:58as the son of Greg and have been a big fan of them.
01:02Even back when I was in middle school and high school coming up, I had probably four or
01:06five of Greg's players play for me.
01:09Yeah.
01:09Um, and including, uh, Nick and, uh, and Dondre and, uh, Darius Santee who've made a big
01:15living in Europe playing professionally.
01:16Uh, Darius played the Hightower for a little bit.
01:19I think.
01:19Yeah.
01:19Yeah.
01:19But, but, but Greg changed Yates program.
01:22Cause I, I played there before Greg got there.
01:24Yeah.
01:24And so I, I was the type of player that they were putting out there before Greg wise.
01:29And once Greg, once Greg wise got out there, it got serious.
01:32You wouldn't have been able to play under Greg.
01:33No, he's just one.
01:34No chance.
01:35Just one of those dudes that's important to so many kids.
01:38Yeah.
01:38He was important to me personally.
01:39And I'm burying the lead.
01:41Uh, he got his 1,000th win last night.
01:45Thousand of them things.
01:46Five state championships, a national championship.
01:49Uh, Kelvin Sampson showed up, uh, for the game.
01:53Uh, they, they made PTI one time when they beat a team by a hundred or something like
01:57that.
01:57Yeah.
01:57So I wanted to give old Greg, uh, a big, a big shout out.
02:01Cause, uh, he's, he's, he's an important guy in this city, man.
02:04No doubt.
02:04Yeah.
02:04Without question.
02:06Salute, salute to coach wise.
02:07Um, somebody may mention that Salazar can't catch a fastball.
02:10I will not win.
02:11Not when the, not when the picture crossing them up.
02:12Yep.
02:13Not when that's happening.
02:14No, not when it's meant for his chest or.
02:16Shout out to Jack.
02:16Yeah.
02:17Meant for his head.
02:18Yeah.
02:18Shout out to Jack.
02:18I've been over there a couple of times just to chat with him.
02:20J.Y.
02:21Till I die.
02:21It's a, it's a cool place.
02:23Very much so.
02:24It's a cool place.
02:24There, there is not, there is not another place like it in terms of high school environment
02:29in the city of Houston, even his rivals would have to admit, not another place like J.Y.
02:33We were making note of the, you know, the other teams in the NFL who made some hires
02:38that may left the Texans untouched.
02:40Maybe we spoke too soon.
02:41The Vikings fired, uh, the general manager, Cueso Adolfo Menso.
02:44So that's another general job, general manager job that jumps up.
02:48Is it possible that they could come back around and ask, uh, to possibly talk to James Lifford?
02:52That's the Sam Darnold effect.
02:53They did that kind of late too, man.
02:55Real late in the game.
02:56I'm wondering as to what the reasoning was behind that.
02:59I thought I just saw him talking.
03:01Yeah.
03:01This is like the time Phil Yates saying that on Twitter, the timing of this is a major
03:04surprise.
03:05Adolfo Menso spent the week at the senior bowl.
03:08He was just extended last off season.
03:10I imagine once we get the story on this, Sam Darnold, it might be the story.
03:14But Sam Darnold has been in the, has been ready to go.
03:17At least we should have been fired after the season then.
03:19If that was the case.
03:20There is a Seth Wickersham play-by-play.
03:23Yes.
03:23That is.
03:23Don Van Nauta, one of them.
03:24Right.
03:25That has to be in the works.
03:26That's what I am looking forward to.
03:28I got to admit.
03:28I got to admit.
03:32I got to admit.
03:34I got to admit.
