00:00My heart was pounding as I landed on the other side of the wall, and I didn't look back once at the mansion as I ran away.
00:06When I was far enough, I collapsed on a park bench.
00:09Oh my god, I did it! I'm free!
00:13I am never, ever going back!
00:15This is the life!
00:17Sleeping under the starry sky, breathing in the crisp night air.
00:22I leapt up in panic and saw a rat scurrying across the bench.
00:26Ew!
00:27Okay, I don't have to be out here forever. Just a few days. Enough to scare my parents.
00:32Now I just need to find a decent place to sleep.
00:35Ah!
00:36I fell on my butt as a white thing came zooming towards me, only to realize it was a flying paper bag.
00:42I nervously laughed and got up, but everything around me was beginning to feel sinister.
00:48Maybe mom and dad have been punished enough. They'll be pooping their pants by now.
00:52And suddenly, I had a strong feeling that I was being followed.
00:56I abruptly turned around to find nothing, but then I saw a huge shadow in the alley.
01:03And my blood ran cold.
01:05I started running like crazy and was crossing the street when I tripped and landed hard on the ground.
01:11As I turned over, I froze upon seeing a tall, cloaked figure towering over me with no face.
01:17The creature bent down closer to me, then drew a long breath.
01:24The creature recoiled and stepped back.
01:26And just then, I heard a heavy bike roaring down the road, coming straight at me.
01:31I clamped my eyes shut and kept screaming until I felt someone shaking my shoulders.
01:35Marion, you're fine.
01:37For the love of God, shut up!
01:39I stared at the familiar face in shock.
01:42Jake? Jake?
01:43Oh my God, oh my God, hold me.
01:45I've had the worst night.
01:47Let's get you home, and you can tell me all about it.
01:50Can you just hold me for two freaking seconds?
01:53I need to be held right now.
01:55As Jake hugged me, I looked around to see the faceless creature was gone.
01:59Hi, my name is Marion, and I know y'all have a lot of questions.
02:04Like, how come she's so pretty?
02:06And what's the deal with her unique eyes?
02:08And who does her amazing hair?
02:11Okay, maybe you also have some questions about what just happened.
02:14They'll all get answered if you stick around for my story.
02:16And please, like and subscribe.
02:18About my eyes and hair, I wasn't born like this.
02:20You see, when I was five, I was vacationing in the Swiss Alps with my parents,
02:24when one day, I woke up with streaks of white running through my dark hair.
02:28And I'd also developed heterochromia.
02:31My parents, who were big worry warts, really freaked out.
02:34They had me examined by every doctor in the world,
02:37but no one could figure out the reason.
02:39What was even funnier was that every time my parents dyed my hair,
02:43it turned back white overnight, which drove them crazy.
02:46But I secretly loved it.
02:47It's like my hair was rebelling long before I started.
02:50My dad was a rich politician, and over the course of his career,
02:54he kept going after big criminals and making enemies.
02:57So my parents were always super paranoid about my safety.
03:00And I had a security team on my tail all the time.
03:03Can you guys please move away from the bathroom door?
03:06You don't need to hear all the sounds my butt makes.
03:08Let me poop in peace.
03:10For the last time, the poor lunch lady is not trying to kill me.
03:14Oh, for crying out loud, he was just giving me a box of chocolates, not a bomb.
03:18Your security team is ruining my life.
03:21No boy at college will even look at me now.
03:23Do you want me to be single and loveless forever?
03:26Sounds good to me.
03:28He's kidding, honey.
03:29But it's so hard to trust new people.
03:31You know, Jake is back in town after becoming the state's youngest police detective.
03:36You mean your best friend's son and my ex, Jake?
03:39Are you serious, Mom?
03:40It could be different this time.
03:42You haven't seen him in four years.
03:44Hasn't been long enough.
03:45Jake was three years older than me,
03:47and we'd known each other since we were kids.
03:49We dated for a few months when I was 16, but we were completely wrong for each other,
03:54and saying it hadn't ended well was an understatement.
03:57Marion, have you heard a word I said?
03:59Uh, yeah, no.
04:01We're hosting a banquet at our place this weekend,
04:04at the end of which I'll be announcing that I'm running for president.
04:08The president of what?
04:09The country, of course.
04:11What? Are you kidding me?
04:12Listen, I know my political career places restrictions on your life,
04:16but we have to look at the big picture here.
04:19Which is what, Dad?
04:20The chance to do good.
04:22I have the power to make change, and with great power comes great...
04:25Oh my God, don't finish that sentence.
04:27You're not Spider-Man or some other superhero with a cliched line.
04:31You're my dad, but all your life you've put your career first.
04:35That's not fair.
04:36I don't care, because all I know is you're making me miserable.
04:40Of course, nothing was going to change Dad's mind,
04:43so the least I could do was sulk and reject all his peace offerings.
04:46And on the evening of the banquet,
04:48I pretended I was having the worst period cramps any woman had ever experienced,
04:52pulled out my running away plans,
04:54and then used this opportunity while everyone was busy to escape.
04:58And well, you know the rest about what happened that night.
05:01What were you thinking?
05:02Running away like that?
05:04And what do you mean there was a faceless creature, and he sniffed you?
05:08I do smell very nice,
05:09and I don't know if it was a he or a she or a they.
05:13It looked like a tall man.
05:14He ran away as I came towards you on my bike.
05:17I would have followed him, but you were screaming like you'd been stabbed.
05:21Now, can you describe the creature?
05:24How?
05:25I'm telling you.
05:26No face.
05:27Nada.
05:28There was a black hole instead.
05:29Maybe he was just wearing some mask?
05:32You do have an overactive imagination.
05:35Weren't you always writing some dumb horror novel?
05:37I'm not making this up.
05:39Oh, God.
05:40He could be someone from one of the mafia gangs I busted recently.
05:44Maybe he's been stalking you and followed you from the mansion when you ran away.
05:47We'll just have to amp up security.
05:49You mean besides the eight morons who follow me around all day already?
05:53With all due respect, sir, I think we need a more qualified personal bodyguard.
05:58I can interview some candidates for you.
05:59That would be wonderful, Jake.
06:01Hey, no one's choosing a personal bodyguard for me without my approval.
06:05Okay, Your Highness.
06:07I'll bring the candidates here and you can interview them with me.
06:11If there's nothing else, I'll get going now.
06:13Why don't you see Jake out, honey?
06:15He's a detective.
06:16He'll find his way.
06:17Marion?
06:18All right.
06:19As I walked with Jake to the main door, I couldn't help giving him a side glance.
06:23He was cuter than I remembered, even though I wasn't a huge fan of the unshaven look.
06:27And they wish he'd tuck his shirt in.
06:29If you want to check me out, just say so.
06:31I'll let you do it without hurting your eyes so much.
06:34As if.
06:35I was just wondering why you're aging so badly.
06:37Can't say the same for you.
06:39You're definitely prettier now.
06:41I could feel my face going red.
06:43But your annoying personality totally ruins it.
06:46What were you doing out there tonight anyway?
06:48Your mother panic-called me after they found out you'd run away.
06:51I knew you couldn't have gone too far on foot, so I was scouting the area.
06:55You still haven't thanked me, by the way.
06:56Uh, okay.
06:58You're welcome.
06:59I'm glad you're all right.
07:00Suddenly, his hand was on my arm, and he was leaning in closer.
07:04And he was looking at my lips.
07:06I felt kind of lightheaded and...
07:08Got it.
07:08You had a leaf in your hair.
07:10Wait.
07:10You didn't think I was gonna kiss you, did you?
07:13Ew!
07:13Barf!
07:14Puke!
07:14Why would you even say that?
07:16Because you're pouting.
07:17It's the face I make when I'm disgusted, which I am with you so close to me.
07:22Good.
07:22We're on the same page then.
07:23I gotta go.
07:24I'm late for a date.
07:25Ugh.
07:25Of course he had a date.
07:27It was just me who was gonna die loveless and alone.
07:30Oh, wow.
07:31I've forgotten how good your chefs are.
07:33Mmm, mmm, mmm.
07:35There's ketchup on your shirt and mustard on your face.
07:38Can we just start the interviews?
07:39Nope.
07:40Too old.
07:41His reaction time is probably slower than mine.
07:43Nope.
07:43Too chatty.
07:44He'll chew my ear off all day.
07:46Did you see his long nose hair?
07:47Ew, Jake.
07:48Ew.
07:49What kind of self-respecting bodyguard wears bright pink socks?
07:52His tie was crooked, and so were his teeth.
07:54You're just finding stupid reasons to reject everyone.
07:57My team took three days to compile this list.
08:00Look, this person has to spend every waking moment with me, and it has to be someone I'm
08:04comfortable with.
08:05Next.
08:06As the door opened and I looked up, my jaw dropped to the floor.
08:10The guy who'd walked in was tall, dark, handsome, and then some.
08:14He had skin like marble, cheekbones you could grate cheese on, and intense blue eyes that
08:20pierced my soul.
08:21He was immaculately dressed, and you could tell through his clothes that he was ripped.
08:26Uh, your name is Magnus, right?
08:30Your references seem, um, excellent.
08:34Yes, very good.
08:36He's hired.
08:36What?
08:37The interview isn't over.
08:38It's not even started.
08:40Excellent references, right?
08:42That's all I need to know.
08:43You're hired, Magnet.
08:44His name is Magnus.
08:45I know.
08:46I'm not stupid.
08:47So, you can start tomorrow, yes?
08:50I certainly can, Miss Marion.
08:52Oh my god, that voice.
08:54It was melting like butter on warm toast.
08:56Welcome to our home.
08:58After I've run a background check and consulted with Miss Marion's parents, Magnus will be in
09:03touch.
09:04As Magnus nodded and turned to leave, Jake suddenly grabbed an apple from the table and
09:08shot it straight at him.
09:10Seconds before it was about to hit the back of his head, Magnus turned around and caught
09:14it with one hand.
09:15What was that?
09:16Just checking his reflexes.
09:18Not bad.
09:18Magnus smirked and tossed the apple to Jake before leaving, and I sat down in a daze.
09:23You are unbelievable.
09:25What?
09:25You were dying for me to hire one of your candidates, and I just did.
09:28The only reason you hired him is because he's devastatingly handsome.
09:32I always had a feeling you were gay and hiding it.
09:35Marion, I don't have a good feeling about this guy.
09:38Something's off.
09:39Yes, his good looks are off the charts.
09:42If you're having a problem, just do your background check, dude.
09:45Oh, I'll definitely be doing that.
09:47Have fun.
09:48By the way, your fly's been open the whole time.
09:50Uh, what?
09:50No, it's not.
09:51But I made you look.
09:52Jake's background check didn't reveal anything suspicious, so my parents were happy to have
09:58Magnus on board and had him settled into a room close to mine the next day.
10:01And I was ecstatic.
10:03I just had to work on acting cool around him and not make my giant crush super obvious.
10:08And when I walked into college with Magnus by my side, I could see how everyone was flipping
10:14out.
10:14Even my philosophy teacher was so distracted by his presence, she dropped water on her desk,
10:19sat on her glasses, and tripped over a wire.
10:22Girl, you're so lucky your life is in danger.
10:25I'm so jealous right now.
10:26I know.
10:27You're gonna make a move on him, right?
10:29No.
10:30That is so inappropriate.
10:32The thought of overstepping boundaries with an employee would never even cross my mind.
10:36How do I look in this red dress?
10:38It's not my job to have an opinion about your clothes, Miss Marion.
10:42Okay, then.
10:43Oh, gosh.
10:44The zip seems to be stuck.
10:45I'm not kidding.
10:46It's really not moving.
10:48How about a damsel in distress?
10:49As Magnus came closer and I felt his hand on my back, my heart started racing.
10:55I'll call a store employee.
10:57Why don't you order something, too?
10:59I don't eat or drink on the job.
11:01But you're on the job all the time.
11:03By the way, does it bother your girlfriend that your work involves taking care of a pretty
11:08girl?
11:08I don't have a girlfriend.
11:10Oh, thank God.
11:11I mean, I'm glad because I have a knack for setting up people.
11:14No one specific in mind for you right now, but I could look into it.
11:18So, what kind of girls do you like?
11:20The non-existent kind.
11:22The car's here, ma'am.
11:23Let's go.
11:23The non-existent kind.
11:53I'm terrified it's not good, and I just need someone to read it and tell me.
11:59So, did you start reading my book?
12:02Yes.
12:02I actually finished it last night.
12:04Wow.
12:05That was fast.
12:06What did you think of it?
12:07It's not my job to have an opinion about anything except your safety, Miss Marion.
12:12Oh, this beautiful demigod was made of stone, and he couldn't be less interested in me.
12:17Later that night, I was sleeping deeply when I woke up to the smell of smoke.
12:22I ran towards my door, but I opened it to find huge flames sweeping across the hall.
12:27I screamed for help, but no one was around.
12:29I had no choice left but to jump out of my window.
12:32The flames were roaring in.
12:34I had to jump now.
12:35Marion, no!
12:39Wake up!
12:40My eyes blew open, and I found myself on the window ledge with Magnus pulling me back in.
12:45Magnus, there was a fire!
12:47Just now, it was everywhere!
12:49Hey, slow down.
12:50You were having a nightmare.
12:52You're fine.
12:52Oh my god.
12:53I got you.
12:54Magnus held me close, and I felt my heartbeat slowly coming back to normal.
12:59It wasn't mentioned in your file that you're a sleepwalker, and a potential danger to yourself.
13:04I sometimes sleepwalked as a kid, but I haven't in years.
13:08How did you even know?
13:09I heard you cry out for help.
13:11Across the hall?
13:12In your room?
13:13Yeah, you can be quite loud for such a tiny person.
13:16Well, I'm pretty sure my door was locked.
13:18I just kicked it open.
13:20Wow, I guess you're a good guy to have around for emergencies.
13:23That's why you hired me, right?
13:25I'm just really glad I got here in time.
13:27Magnus gently stroked my cheek and looked deep into my eyes, and I felt like I was drowning in his.
13:33My heart was beating hard as I leaned in, but he suddenly drew away.
13:37You should try to get some sleep now.
13:39Good night, Miss Marion.
13:41And then, he just left.
13:42As I went to the door to close it, I noticed the metal doorknob was completely crushed.
13:47What kind of superhuman strength had Magnus used to open my door?
13:51I thought I'd question him in the morning, but I woke up to find the doorknob completely fine.
13:56Jeez, maybe Jake was right, and my overactive imagination was playing tricks on my mind.
14:02But I was sure I wasn't imagining that something between me and Magnus had changed.
14:07He was as serious as ever.
14:08But every now and then, I caught him looking at me quite intensely.
14:12And a few nights later, when my parents were hosting their annual Christmas party,
14:16I stepped out of my room, and the way his gaze lingered on me for a few extra seconds made my toes tingle.
14:22How do I look, Magnus?
14:23Oh, wait. Sorry. I forgot. It's not your job to have an opinion. Never mind.
14:29You look stunning.
14:31Let's go. Your parents are waiting.
14:33I was still feeling giddy over the compliment when I went downstairs and spotted Jake among the guests
14:38in the most hideous reindeer sweater.
14:40Are you trying to embarrass your parents, man?
14:43I know your mom's too cool to make you that ugly thing, so I guess your girlfriend gave it to you?
14:48No, I found a kidnapped six-year-old this week, and her mom gave it to me as a thank-you present.
14:52Oh, wow. Congratulations. And it's sweet that you're wearing it.
14:57I guess not all heroes wear capes and underwear over their clothes, huh?
15:00No, some of us just wear itchy sweaters. You look amazing, by the way.
15:04Okay. I'm waiting for an insult to follow.
15:08I seem to be out of them right now. Care to dance?
15:12As Jake pulled me close by the waist, my tummy did a funny little flip.
15:16So, how are things going with Matthew?
15:19It's Magnus, and yeah, he's great. Very professional.
15:22You know, last night I was sleepwalking and nearly jumped out of my window.
15:26What?
15:27But Magnus was by my side instantly. He's really good at his job.
15:31Magnus was in your room? You know you shouldn't trust him completely. He's a stranger.
15:36He was there to save me, and I'm supposed to trust my bodyguard with my life, no?
15:40Yeah, but he's still very new, and there's something about this guy that makes me uneasy.
15:47I'm still looking into his background.
15:49Jake, are you jealous of him?
15:52What? Me? Jealous? Of him? Why would I be jealous?
15:56Maybe because he's devastatingly handsome, and he's your ex-girlfriend's bodyguard.
16:01I'm very secure about the way I look, and this isn't about me being hung up on us.
16:05We were terrible together, remember?
16:08Yeah, the worst. We argued all the time.
16:11Over the stupidest things.
16:13Do you remember we once had a fight because you kept insisting Batman's car is called Batman-mobile?
16:18It is called Batman-mobile.
16:21No, it's just Bat-mobile.
16:24I'd love to be wrong about this.
16:26Congratulations, you are! See this?
16:29Okay, fine. You're right about one lame thing.
16:33Can I have that in writing?
16:33We both laughed. It wasn't all bad, right? I mean, when we were together?
16:38No, I can recall some pretty good moments.
16:41Jake pulled me in even closer, and our faces were inches apart when suddenly the music stopped, and he abruptly pulled away.
16:49Oh my god, was any guy gonna kiss me? And why was I attracted to both Jake and Magnus?
16:54And why were they both giving me such mixed signals?
16:57And it only got more confusing from there.
17:00Jake started making excuses to show up all the time.
17:03At home, even at college, and I could sense Magnus wasn't really loving it.
17:08Hey, so I was just at the farmer's market, and I saw this sweet old lady selling peaches.
17:12And I hate peaches, but I remembered you love them, so I got them for you.
17:16Suddenly, Magnus leapt forward, grabbed the box from him, and threw it in the trash.
17:20What the heck?
17:22Do you know that Miss Marion is only allergic to one thing in the world, and that's peaches?
17:26It's true.
17:27Oh, I knew there was some connection between you and peaches. I just forgot what.
17:33Maybe you should read her file properly.
17:35Maybe you should just mind your business, dude.
17:37This is literally my business, sir.
17:40Guys, guys, calm down. No one ate peaches. No one nearly died. It's all good.
17:46I am calm. It's not like I was gonna fight Magnus over this.
17:49Good, because you wouldn't be any match for me.
17:52Are you kidding me right now? I'm a trained police detective.
17:56So you sit at your desk all day studying cases and eating donuts. It shows.
18:01Oh, is that so? Well, then I challenge you to a match at my boxing club tonight.
18:06If Miss Marion is willing to come, I'll be there.
18:09What the heck was happening? Okay, this was too entertaining not to find out. I'm in.
18:19Ow. Ow. Ow.
18:26Why did you challenge Magnus to a fight, dummy?
18:29Because he gets under my skin.
18:32Well, it was stupid, because he's ripped. And you're not as ripped, but you still look good.
18:37What's his workout routine, anyway?
18:39I don't know. I've never seen him work out. Maybe he's just naturally blessed.
18:43Maybe you should just leave.
18:45I really had no idea when Magnus did anything. But late one night, as I was writing at my desk,
18:50I looked out the window to see Magnus walking across the backyard. And I decided to follow him.
18:55And I found him in a school football field, lifting a massive boulder for weight training like it was nothing.
19:02What on freaking earth?
19:03And then, he started running laps around the field at a speed that made my head spin.
19:08He was going so fast, he was becoming a blur.
19:10I let out a gasp, and suddenly, he stopped.
19:13He looked here and there for a few seconds, and then quickly left.
19:16My heart was pounding as my thoughts raced.
19:18I ran back home to confront him.
19:20And when I knocked on his door, he opened it sleepily.
19:24Is everything okay, Miss Marion?
19:27No, no. Everything is not okay. Don't even act like you were sleeping right now. I saw you.
19:34What are you talking about?
19:35I saw you on the football field, lifting a giant rock and running at supersonic speed.
19:40Have you been sleepwalking again? This is very dangerous.
19:44Don't change the subject. It was you, Magnus. And I want to know who you really are.
19:49Are you even human?
19:50Are you giving me a compliment or interrogating me?
19:53Look, I've been asleep for hours, and I don't know what you saw.
19:57But it wasn't me. It's your overactive imagination.
20:00I hate it when people say that. I know what I saw. And I think you have superpowers.
20:06Well, I'll admit, I do have one superpower. I can read minds.
20:11Suddenly, Magnus was leaning in really close. Uh, can you?
20:16Yeah, you're thinking that I look exceptionally good right now, and you know it's inappropriate.
20:20But you're wondering what it would be like if I kissed you.
20:23You've never been more wrong about anything in your life.
20:26Okay, so which one is it then? Do I have superpowers or not?
20:29I guess not. I walked off to my room, feeling like I was losing my mind.
20:34It was definitely Magnus I'd seen in the field.
20:36A theory was forming in my head, and I needed to find out more to confirm it.
20:40I had midterm exams the following week, so I mostly kept in my room, avoided Magnus as much as possible, and didn't entertain Jake either.
20:48But on the weekend, there was a big college party at a dance club, and I was determined to go.
20:53Your father isn't too enthusiastic about this.
20:56He's been cracking down on more criminal gangs lately, and he'd like you to stay out of the public eye as much as possible.
21:02Well, can't you tell him that I'm going because I deserve some fun?
21:05And you'll protect me. That's why I have you around, right?
21:08The dance club was completely buzzing, and I was having a great time when suddenly someone pulled me away from my partner.
21:15It was Jake. What are you doing here?
21:17Why haven't you been answering my calls?
21:19I told you. I was busy studying.
21:21Sure, looks like it. Look, I need to talk to you about Magnus.
21:25Ugh, what now? Something is giving you an uneasy feeling in your stomach again?
21:29Well, yeah.
21:30Then either you have a crush on him or you're eating expired food.
21:34Either way, I've lost interest in this little game you're playing.
21:37What game?
21:38Jake, you haven't contacted me in four years, and I know you don't really like me.
21:43So the only explanation for you turning up all the time now is that you've got some silly ego competition going on with Magnus.
21:50It's not like that.
21:51Okay, so if Magnus is out of the picture, you'll still come around? Maybe ask me out?
21:56Maybe. I might. But I really have something more important to talk about right now.
22:01No, I just want to have fun.
22:03I was walking off when Jake grabbed my hand and then pulled me into a kiss that left me breathless.
22:09Do I have your attention now?
22:10But just then, Magnus was by my side, pushing Jake away.
22:14What do you think you're doing?
22:15It's clear that you're forcing yourself on Miss Marion, and I want you to leave.
22:19Wait, no, that's not...
22:21Don't tell me what to do. She's safe with me.
22:24Aren't you a detective? It's always the ex-boyfriend who's trouble. I don't trust you.
22:29The feeling is mutual.
22:31Jake punched Magnus, and before I knew it, the two had broken out into a crazy fight.
22:35As a crowd gathered around them, I suddenly felt a hand clamped over my mouth,
22:40and some hooded man was dragging me away through a back entrance,
22:43and no one was even looking at me in the chaos.
22:45I tried to kick and scream, but the man's grip was too strong as he led me out into a dark alley.
22:51I felt panic rising in my chest, when suddenly, Magnus appeared and attacked the kidnapper.
22:57The man pushed Magnus off with a great force, sending him flying into a wall as he ran away.
23:02Magnus!
23:03I'm fine, I'm fine. Are you okay?
23:06Yeah, I think so. I just got really scared.
23:09I'm so sorry, Marion. Hey, you're bleeding.
23:12Just then, I noticed my leg was grazed and some blood was trickling down.
23:17Magnus drew a sharp breath, and his face looked paler than usual.
23:20What is it?
23:21Nothing, nothing. Sometimes blood makes me a bit sick.
23:25I'm calling the car. We need to get you home.
23:28Where's Jake?
23:28Punched him into a coma, hopefully.
23:31Magnus!
23:31He's fine.
23:33I want to know exactly what happened tonight.
23:35How is it that a police detective and a bodyguard I pay a lot of money to
23:39were both there at the nightclub, and my daughter nearly got kidnapped?
23:43Jake is interfering with my job, and his actions tonight put Miss Marion in great danger.
23:49You need to fire him, sir. I've been meeting with the people who previously hired him,
23:53and what they said about him is very suspicious.
23:56Which is what?
23:57They all said the same thing about how great he is at his job, but it sounded fake,
24:02like they'd been hypnotized or something.
24:05We were all looking at Jake like he was crazy.
24:08And that's not all. A few days ago, I saw a tattoo on his wrist,
24:12which I traced back to a dangerous criminal group that escaped prison a few years ago.
24:16Show us your left wrist, Magnus!
24:18Magnus looked at Jake silently and pulled up both sleeves, and neither had any tattoo.
24:23What? No! I saw it! I'm certain of it!
24:27Jake, I don't know what's going on with you, but you need to stay away from Marion.
24:31I won't have your wild theories put my daughter's life in danger.
24:35Let the bodyguard do his job.
24:37But I'm doing my job too, and I know I'm right!
24:41I don't remember hiring you for one. I'm getting a restraining order against you, Jake. Stay away!
24:47Jake gave me a long look, then left angrily.
24:51Later that night, I just couldn't sleep and went up to the rooftop,
24:54only to find Magnus behind me minutes later.
24:57Sorry. I feel extra paranoid after what happened tonight.
25:01You know something, Magnus?
25:02Jake is wrong about many things, but he's right about one.
25:05You've been lying about who you really are, and I know who you are.
25:11Do you?
25:15Later that night, I just couldn't sleep and went up to the rooftop,
25:19only to find Magnus behind me minutes later.
25:21Sorry. I feel extra paranoid after what happened tonight.
25:25You know something, Magnus?
25:26Jake is wrong about many things, but he's right about one.
25:29You've been lying about who you really are, and I know who you are.
25:37Do you?
25:41Yes, you're a vampire.
25:45Magnus looked at me for a few seconds, then started laughing.
25:49Don't mock me. I know you have superhuman strength.
25:52You crushed my metal doorknob, which I'm guessing you replaced before I woke up.
25:57I saw you lifting a boulder like it was a cat and running at supersonic speeds.
26:01You have a heightened sense of hearing. That's why you heard me talking in my sleep.
26:05And that ring you wear? It's an amethyst, and it protects you from the sun, right?
26:09Also, I noticed your face when you saw my blood. I don't think blood makes you sick.
26:13There's another term for it. It's called bloodlust.
26:16Magnus' face was as expressionless as a rock.
26:19You're wrong.
26:20Suddenly, I felt furious, and I stepped onto the ledge.
26:23What do you think you're doing?
26:24Vampires can fly, too, right? According to all my research, they can.
26:28So I'm gonna jump off the roof, and if you're a vampire, you'll save me. And if you're not...
26:33Are you insane? Get off the ledge!
26:35Admit that you're a vampire!
26:37I'm not a vampire!
26:38Stop lying to me!
26:40Just get off, and we'll talk, okay? I promise.
26:43I was about to climb down, when suddenly, my foot slipped, and I fell off the roof.
26:48The scream had barely left my throat, when I felt Magnus scoop me up in his arms and fly up to the sky.
26:56Oh my god, oh my god! We're freaking flying!
26:59Marion, are you out of your mind? What if I wasn't a vampire?
27:04I wasn't actually gonna jump. That was an accident.
27:06But thank god you're a vampire, and I can't believe I'm flying!
27:10Woo-hoo!
27:10We flew over the city lights, and ended up on top of a tall building, looking down at the amazing view.
27:19Are you gonna tell me the truth now? Why would a vampire need a job as a bodyguard?
27:23Aren't you guys supposed to be loaded? What are you actually doing here?
27:27And who tried kidnapping me tonight? If someone could send you flying like that, it wasn't human.
27:32You're pretty smart, aren't you? I didn't think so after reading that novel of yours.
27:36Aha! So you hated it! Okay, okay, we'll talk about that later.
27:40Since you've done your research, I'm sure you know that vampires are almost extinct by now.
27:46Humans over the centuries have tried everything to eliminate us, but the most successful campaign against us has been to poison every water body in this earth with silver.
27:55It does nothing to humans, but once it's in the bloodstream of vampires, it slowly kills them, like cancer.
28:01There are only a few hundred of us left now, and we'll all die.
28:05How long have you been alive?
28:07About three centuries.
28:09Whoa, and now? How much time do you have left?
28:12Maybe another 50-60 years. To be honest, I'm okay with that.
28:16People wish they could live forever, but when you live that long, you witness a lot of terrible things.
28:22And I've seen enough.
28:23However, most vampires don't share my view, and some of them are very sick, so they'll die soon.
28:29That's kind of where you come in.
28:31Me? What do I have to do with this?
28:33Do you have any idea why your hair turned white and your eyes changed color?
28:37No, I just know I was five and I was vacationing in the Swiss Alps.
28:42Apparently, when you were there, you ate a very rare magical flower, the kind that blooms once in centuries.
28:48Oh, I did like eating flowers as a kid.
28:52That flower caused your eyes and hair to change, and it gave you another power.
28:56It makes your blood pure from silver, and that makes it a cure for the disease killing vampires.
29:02How, how do you know all this?
29:04Many years ago, a vampire with very strong powers said she'd seen a girl in a dream whose blood was made pure by that flower.
29:12She described her with the unique features that you have, so you can imagine that vampires have been looking for such a girl for a while.
29:19And then a few weeks ago, I saw you on the news with your father.
29:22I wanted to get closer to find out if you're the one, so I've been keeping an eye on you.
29:27The creature you met when you ran from home, that was me.
29:30I knew it wasn't human, so should I be afraid of you? Are you after my blood?
29:36No, I told you I don't want a longer life, but I did fake my references and signed up to be your bodyguard to get closer to you,
29:43find out if you really are the one, and then protect you from the other vampires who will inevitably find you.
29:48I think one of them just did.
29:50And you're sure it's me?
29:52I wasn't, till I smelt your blood tonight. It definitely is you.
29:56Okay, okay. This is a lot to process. You know, I can donate a little blood if it'll save you guys.
30:03A little won't do. They'll take enough to kill you.
30:06This world sent a shiver down my spine, so what do I do now? I'll never be safe. I'll be hunted all my life.
30:13The only thing I can think of right now is to get you to a safe place, and then I have to somehow convince the other vampires that you're not the one.
30:21Why are you protecting me? Why do you even care?
30:23Because you don't deserve to die so we can live longer. Also, I've developed something like affection for you.
30:31Uh, let's say I've grown fond of you.
30:33Three hundred years on this planet, and you haven't learned better words to tell a girl you like her?
30:38How about I tell you another way instead?
30:40And then, Magnus pulled me in for a long kiss.
30:43We didn't want to send my parents into panic mode, so I acted like I was really shaken up by the recent kidnapping attempt and needed to get away from the city for a while.
31:03Magnus said he could take me to a safe house, and my parents agreed.
31:06I'm surprised my paranoid parents trust you so much.
31:08I may have used my hypnotic convincing powers on them.
31:12I am both fascinated and terrified by you.
31:15I would never hurt you. Just trust me on that.
31:18Magnus drove for hours deep into the countryside, and the safe house we arrived at was a giant-sized mansion, more luxurious than any place I'd ever seen.
31:26He settled me into a huge suite and then placed the locket around my neck.
31:30I have to go right now, but my servants here are completely trustworthy and will look after you.
31:35If you need me, just press on the locket and I'll be here in a heartbeat. Will you be alright?
31:40Yeah, of course. Magnus kissed me gently and left, but I just couldn't sleep that night.
31:45I couldn't get rid of a nagging feeling in my heart.
31:48I looked over at my phone, wanting to call Jake, but I had no signal.
31:52Finally, I jumped out of bed and left my room to explore the mansion.
31:55I'd just reached the main hall and was looking at a painting when suddenly, loud alarms started blaring all over the place.
32:01I stood frozen in panic and started pressing the locket like crazy, and within seconds, Magnus was by my side.
32:08There's a security breach. We need to leave. Now!
32:11Just then, the main door flew open and a man walked in.
32:15He was tall and pale like Magnus, but his cheekbones were sunken in, and he had a manic look in his dark eyes.
32:21What's the holdup, brother? You were supposed to bring the girl to us weeks ago.
32:25Uh, excuse me?
32:27Leonard, was it you who tried to kidnap her yesterday?
32:30Yes, because I don't know what's been taking you so long. We need the girl now.
32:35I needed to be sure if she's the one, and she isn't. I've seen and smelled her blood.
32:39Why should I trust your judgment? We can try the cure with her blood anyway. If it works, fantastic.
32:46If it doesn't, who cares if we've killed one human? We'll keep looking.
32:51No! I won't let you kill someone senselessly!
32:54These humans are the ones who poisoned us. You promised you'd find the girl that could cure our community.
33:01Magnus, you lied to me?
33:02No! I mean, it started off that way, Mary. But now, I really don't think it's right to kill anyone just so we can live longer.
33:10You mean you're stupid enough to have fallen for this girl, and now you've changed your mind?
33:14So, is she ready to turn into a vampire for you?
33:18What? I don't want to be a vampire!
33:20No other way for you to be together. This love story is doomed, brother. So let her serve a better purpose.
33:27Leonard leapt towards me, and Magnus let out a snarl and attacked him.
33:31The two were fighting viciously as I tried running towards the door.
33:34Only to find Jake running in.
33:39Oh my god, Jake!
33:41You're B positive, right?
33:43What?
33:43You're blood type.
33:44Uh, yes?
33:45So am I. Just wanted to make sure before I do this.
33:49And then, Jake pulled out a syringe full of blood and stabbed me in the arm with it.
33:59My scream made both the vampires turn towards me, and I felt a weakness that made me drop to my knees.
34:07Your hair and your eyes, they've gone back to normal.
34:11What's going on?
34:12Her blood isn't special anymore. It's contaminated.
34:15Leonard, it's over. She's of no use to us anymore.
34:19Leonard stared at me with a manic face, then let out a furious scream and attacked Jake,
34:24who immediately fell to the floor while Leonard escaped.
34:30Jake!
34:31We have to get him to a hospital. Now!
34:36He's gonna be okay, right?
34:37Yes, he just has a concussion. He'll be fine.
34:40He better be, or I swear to god I'll kill you!
34:43I started punching Magnus angrily, and he grabbed my wrists.
34:46He will be, and I'm sorry about everything.
34:49You lied. You didn't become my bodyguard to protect me.
34:52You wanted my blood!
34:54Yes, I lied, but I didn't want it for myself.
34:57There are so many vampires who are really sick by now, and don't want to die.
35:01I wanted to help them, but I swear, a day after I met you,
35:05I already knew I'd never be able to go through with it.
35:07I don't want to kill any human, least of all you.
35:11And I never meant for Jake to get hurt, either.
35:13How did he even find me? And how did he know the whole blood thing?
35:17He's a smart detective.
35:19I did have a tattoo on my wrist, which is my family crest,
35:22and I had a feeling Jake had seen it and would dig into it, so I removed it.
35:26Also, I found some micro bugs on myself today, and there's probably some on you, too.
35:30He's been hearing everything and tracking us.
35:32And he just decided to come and deal with vampires and save me without any backup? That's crazy!
35:38People do crazy things for people they love.
35:41By the way, I'm resigning as your bodyguard.
35:44You were fired anyway. Magnus smiled, then took my hands.
35:47There's no chance you would go out with me, right?
35:49Not if I have to turn into a vampire. What did your brother mean by that?
35:53I am, after all, a creature that thirsts for human blood.
35:57If I was around you long enough, I wouldn't be able to resist the temptation,
36:00and I'd eventually end up turning you into a vampire, too.
36:03It wouldn't be the worst life. You know, you'd get superpowers.
36:07I'm really rich. We could fly around the world.
36:10It sounds tempting, and hella scary.
36:13Magnus, you're lovely, but I don't see a future here.
36:16I don't like you enough to even think about giving up my life as a human.
36:20And you shouldn't. You're a pretty special human.
36:23And between the two of us, Jake's the better guy anyway.
36:26He's got a really good heart, and I do see you two having a future together.
36:29So, I guess this is goodbye, then, Marion.
36:33Goodbye, Magnus. He kissed me on the cheek, and then left.
36:38And a few hours later, I was so relieved when Jake woke up.
36:43I overheard the whole crazy conversation about Magnus being a vampire,
36:50and your blood being the cure to the vampire disease.
36:53It was so absurd. It sounded like those stupid stories you write.
36:56Can you stay on track and not insult me?
36:59But it all added up, and you figuring out that he was a vampire was actually pretty cool.
37:06You seemed convinced that he was going to protect you, but I couldn't trust him.
37:10So I followed you to his mansion, waiting for a chance to get in.
37:14I figured if your blood is special, and that's why vampires are after you,
37:18I had to do something to make you just like the rest of us.
37:22I didn't know if it would even work. It was just a hunch.
37:25I guess your gut instincts make you a good detective.
37:28You knew from the start something was off about Magnus.
37:31Yeah, but that might have more to do with jealousy.
37:35I mean, come on. I'm straight as an arrow, but sometimes even I just wanted to stare at his face and touch his hair.
37:41I don't blame you for crushing hard on him.
37:44Yeah, but maybe that's all it was. A crush. He left anyway. He said, you're the better guy.
37:49What? He did? Why?
37:51Beats me. I mean, given his superior looks, his amazing voice, his superpowers.
37:57I'm sorry I asked.
37:58But you're definitely the better kisser.
38:01Believe me, even I was surprised. His kiss kinda gave me a brain freeze.
38:05Wow, I kiss better than a hot vampire? Can I have this in writing?
38:09You'll have to kiss me again so I can be sure.
38:39Hey now, wipe that frown out of your pretty face.
38:52Listen to me, Marion. I won't hesitate to take that supernatural blow many times over just to save you.
39:01Bleeding will stop, bruises will heal, and broken bones will mend back together eventually.
39:07I knew something wasn't right with you.
39:14Anyone, please help!
39:26Jake!
39:31Jake!
