00:00It looks like the Bengals are letting two other teams decide
00:02who their offensive coordinator is going to be this season.
00:05As we previously touched on, Zach Taylor is allowing offensive coordinator Dan Pitcher
00:08to interview with other teams.
00:10That would allow him to call plays as their offensive coordinator.
00:12Zach Taylor is still the one who calls plays since now.
00:15And that's not going to change anytime soon.
00:16But it still begs the question as to why Taylor would allow Pitcher
00:20to leave for a lateral move.
00:21The only logical reason why Taylor would be okay with this is if
00:25he knew that he could replace Pitcher in an instant.
00:27And that replacement, more likely than not, is the same guy
00:30who Pitcher replaced back in 2024, Brian Callahan.
00:33Callahan was the offensive coordinator since now.
00:35When they went to back-to-back AFC Championship games,
00:37and he spent the last year and a half as the head coach of the Tennessee Titans.
00:40Callahan is available to hire right now, but here's the kicker.
00:42He's going to be having his second interview this week with the Tampa Bay Bucs.
00:45And Dan Pitcher is going to be interviewing there this week for the very first time.
00:50And Callahan is also in the mix to be the Los Angeles Chargers' offensive coordinator.
00:53There are a lot of moving parts here, but the Bengals are
00:55operating like at least one of Callahan or Pitcher is going to be available
00:58to coach for them this season.
01:00Perhaps the guy who doesn't get the Bucs job is going to be the OC for the Bengals.
01:03There's frankly no other reason why you would
01:05let Pitcher even take that job if you weren't confident
01:07in getting his replacement immediately.
01:09And it just happens to be.
01:10a replacement that you know very well.
01:11This could all go down tomorrow or it could be finalized next week,
01:14but whenever it does,
01:15we'll keep you posted right here on A to Z Sports Cincinnati.
