Hysterosalpingography, commonly known as an HSG, is a vital diagnostic procedure used primarily to detect blockages in the fallopian tubes that may hinder fertilization. This educational video walks through the entire process, explaining how the uterus and fallopian tubes are visualized using X-ray technology and a contrast medium.

The procedure begins with the patient in a clinical position where a speculum is used to visualize the cervix. A liquid contrast medium is then slowly injected. This liquid flows through the uterine cavity and into the tubes. In a normal case, the dye flows freely and exits the tubes, confirming a clear path. However, if a blockage is present, the dye is unable to pass, which is captured in the abnormal X-ray images.

This test is also essential for assessing uterine shape to address causes of infertility or recurrent miscarriages. By watching this video, viewers will understand the clinical steps and the significance of both normal and abnormal results.
