The side profile of the ID. CROSS Concept, like the entire body, consistently follows the principles of the Golden Ratio, already used by Leonardo da Vinci: a 1/3 to 2/3 division. Objects, images, or indeed cars that correspond to the Golden Ratio are perceived particularly positively by the viewer. The upper third of the SUV silhouette is defined by the Flying Roof, which extends to the roof spoiler, and the Greenhouse (roof pillars and windows) below. Painted in the vehicle's "Urban Jungle" color, the Flying Roof projects significantly beyond the C-pillars via the roof spoiler. All roof pillars are finished in dark, high-gloss "Nature Black." This creates the visual impression that the flat roof is resting on or even flying – a Flying Roof. Above this is the roof rail, also finished in "Nature Black," which is suitable for transporting boards and skis. A small but significant detail: Viewed from above, the words “DESIGNED BY VOLKSWAGEN” can be read on the roof surface just before the transition to the roof spoiler – that too is a statement.
