Brooklyn Beckham says his parents, David and Victoria Beckham, pressured and tried to bribe him into "signing away" the rights to his name. In a January 2026 social media statement, he wrote it would have affected him, his wife Nicola Peltz Beckham and their future children. He also claimed they wanted documents finalized before the couple's 2022 wedding, and said his holdout "affected the payday." According to the U.K.'s Intellectual Property Office, "Brooklyn Beckham" was trademarked in Dec

00:00Today I'm interviewing one of the most defining figures from the last quarter century of celebrity
00:05history a true icon Paris Hilton and I started our careers around the same
00:10time in the two thousands I wrote about her in the pages of the magazines I've worked for she was the
00:15original influencer as the socialite queen of the nightlife with the famous last name
00:20after a very public betrayal involving a leaked sex tape Paris did something people did
00:25expect she leveraged her notoriety and built a ground-breaking reality show
00:30an entertainment empire that she estimates to be worth one billion dollars today
00:35she's a multi-hyphenate entrepreneur with ventures in music fashion skincare and even
00:40as 30 fragrances and for many people the idea of Paris Hilton still comes
00:45up someone impossibly unrelatable wrapped in luxury and privilege she's the last
00:50person you'd imagine to be just like us but in recent years Paris has evolved beyond
00:55just being a successful businesswoman she's become more vulnerable and opened up to tell her full
01:00story and what was really going on behind the glitter and glamour in doing so she's made
01:05valuable contributions to the world in a 2020 documentary this is Paris she told her how
01:10the following story of being sent off to Utah's Provo Canyon School and became an advocate for
01:15survivors of the troubled teen industry leading to the passing of legislation reform she also
01:20uses her platform to talk about the misogynistic treatment of women in media and her charity
01:25work including launching funds for wildlife relief and is a vocal advocate for animals
01:30in this there and for the last four years in the summer and for a long time and again
01:34but with the legal parties of the country who had been in the country I'm going to take
01:35that out of this country and I'm going to be very well in the future for the national
01:37university and for the neurodivergent and the LGBTQ communities and see ülkes in the country
01:40movement and also to also support our work in the country and to have a good activity
01:42and i believe that as a good example of being a good example for women who are here
01:43and the major and for the nazis the country who are currently living in the country as well
01:44and to the new age of urgent and the LGBTQ communities and so on the country can get
01:45it back to me and for the new age of urgent and the LGBTQ community and to rely
01:47and to believe in the country and the community who stands up to the country where we are now
01:49into her life and her documentary, Infinite Icon, a visual memoir and assess.
01:54How Just Like Us is Paris Hilton.
01:59So, do you have a room for 10,000 sunglasses?
02:04I have lots of sunglasses and that was at my other house that I just moved into.
02:09So, this house has my glam room and it has my 10,000 sunglasses in it, yeah.
02:14So, I like to start at my interviews with a little ritual about something personal about
02:18the person.
02:19And I was so dumbfounded that you have 30 perfumes.
02:21I asked your team to say.
02:24Send me some so that we could test them.
02:26So, tell me about this one.
02:28This is my...
02:2930th fragrance and it's called Iconic and it is so beautiful.
02:34It has like...
02:35Really?
02:36It's a rose tint.
02:37I love rose.
02:38Yes.
02:39It's like peony...
02:39Raspberry...
02:40Rose...
02:41Those are some of the notes.
02:44And it's just like, it has this just like very light, summery.
02:49Gorgeous, and I feel like men and women could both wear it.
02:53I would, I would.
02:54Wear rose tip tones and sometimes.
02:56I love it.
02:57If you've got 30 perfumes.
02:59How do you decide what to wear in the morning?
03:02I just kind of like.
03:04I don't know what mood I'm in.
03:05I love that I have one literally for like every day of the month because there's 30.
03:09Do you certainly wear your own?
03:10Yes.
03:11I've not worn another person's perfume since I was a little girl.
03:14But it's such a dream.
03:15Because when I was a little girl, I would always go into my mom's boudoir and I would.
03:19She collects perfumes and my sister and I would be playing with all of them.
03:22And I was like, Mom, one day I'm going to have my own perfume.
03:24So now to have just released my 30th is just another dream come true.
03:29That's not just like us to have 30 perfumes, but they are quite reasonable, right?
03:32What a surprise point.
03:33Yes.
03:34These are.
03:34Here at Ulta Beauty.
03:35And for the size, this one's 80.
03:38So we're here in New York.
03:39And this helps your ADHD, right?
03:42It does.
03:43This.
03:44This is like, if you looked inside my mind, what it looks like.
03:47I feel like the camera can't see.
03:49It's like the top with the rainbow and the butterflies, the clouds.
03:53Like if you.
03:54It feels like a dream.
03:55And when I walk in here with the kids, like we have so much fun doing art and just hanging.
03:59Out and it's also my office.
04:01I love being able to look out the window.
04:03And.
04:04See like my 1111 office and the waterfall and just.
04:09Beautiful backyard and all of it.
04:11Just.
04:12It's your safe space.
04:13Yeah.
04:14Yeah.
04:15It just literally looks like when I was little, I would make like mood boards and like.
04:19Manifest what I wanted in life.
04:20I really.
04:21Like this is what it was.
04:22And crafting.
04:23Gives you that.
04:24Yeah.
04:24That, that, that safety.
04:25I love it.
04:26Well, you're, we're here in your home.
04:28It's absolutely.
04:29Beautiful.
04:30It's Beverly Hills.
04:31It is not quite just like us, but it is very unapologetically.
04:34You.
04:35Are there any elements of just like us around the house?
04:38Are there like piles.
04:39Of unfolded laundry?
04:40Are there dishes fill in the sink?
04:42I.
04:43I.
04:44I feel like it's just like any other family's house with kids.
04:47You know, there's toys everywhere.
04:49There's of course like the laundry room as a laundry.
04:52Um, but then also we have like a.
04:54Water slide and like the pink tennis court and all the other fun things.
04:59It's like the ultimate fun house.
05:01Like I feel like this is like the house I dreamed of.
05:04Since I was a little girl.
05:05So it's fabulous, but it's relatable and family just like everybody else.
05:09Just like regular folks.
05:10And I think that's what your new documentary really shows.
05:14As well, it's an exploration into the human side of you that just like our side of you.
05:19Because it shows your life as a music icon and it marries that with the vulnerability.
05:24Of what you've gone through behind the stardust and the glitter.
05:29It says I am human.
05:31Like what do you want people to take away from the documentary?
05:34I feel that this is really like a third part of a trilogy.
05:38Like the first.
05:39The first time I really opened up and.
05:41You know, show people who I was was through my first.
05:44documentary.
05:45This is Paris.
05:46And then going even deeper through my memoir.
05:48And now.
05:49And now in this part with infinite icon.
05:52It's like my whole life.
05:54Through the lens of music and just going back, you know, from the beginning.
05:59From since I was a little girl and all these dreams that I had.
06:02But then just going in.
06:04Into so much more because I feel like within these past five years, I've just.
06:08Been on this.
06:09Been on this whole journey of self-discovery and just learning so much and.
06:14Just so much has happened.
06:15Just so much has happened.
06:16So I just wanted to.
06:17Show that.
06:18So.
06:19Show that story and.
06:20I feel like it's also a story that others can relate to as well.
06:22I think we're going to.
06:23Talk through.
06:24Lots of those different points on there, but to start with the music.
06:27I loved seeing you on this.
06:29Stage.
06:30And so happy.
06:31And it being such a fulfilling journey.
06:33How does it feel to be.
06:34Up there when you're performing that concert.
06:36When I'm on stage.
06:37It feels like the most incredible.
06:39magical feeling in the world, just seeing everyone in the audience.
06:43So.
06:44Happy and excited and.
06:46Screaming and crying and singing along and dancing and.
06:49Just the energy and love in the room is like another level.
06:52And.
06:53When.
06:54When I'm up there.
06:55I just feel like this is what I was born to do.
06:56It's funny because.
06:57I've.
06:58Followed your career.
06:59And.
07:00Worked with you and.
07:01Covered your career.
07:02For so long.
07:03And I never really.
07:04Realized that music was.
07:05The pure love.
07:06And so.
07:07Like.
07:08It.
07:09Made me.
07:09I wonder watching.
07:10The documentary.
07:11Do you feel.
07:12That.
07:13Becoming famous.
07:14Before you explore music.
07:15Hampered your ability.
07:16To become a pop star quicker.
07:19Yeah.
07:20I do.
07:21I think that.
07:22Just.
07:23You know.
07:24From doing the simple life.
07:25Like a reality show.
07:26I think.
07:24Anyone who does reality.
07:25And then if they go into music.
07:27You're just not going to be taken seriously.
07:29And.
07:30Especially.
07:31During the early 2000s.
07:32When.
07:33Just the media.
07:34Was.
07:35Just.
07:36Extremely cruel.
07:37To young women.
07:38In the industry.
07:39So.
07:40It was always.
07:41Really hurtful to me.
07:42Because it was just.
07:43Such a dream.
07:44Mine.
07:45You know.
07:46Ever since I could.
07:47Remember what I'd love to do.
07:48Since I was literally.
07:49Like.
07:50Three years old.
07:49Like.
07:50I just.
07:51Always wanted to be a pop star.
07:52But.
07:53I just felt that.
07:54My music didn't get the chance.
07:55That it deserved.
07:56Because.
07:57The media was controlling everything.
07:59Back there.
08:00And.
08:01Now today.
08:02With social media.
08:03I'm actually able to hear.
08:04What.
08:05The fan.
08:04What happens.
08:05And people really think.
08:06So.
08:07And you can control your own narrative.
08:08And have your own voice.
08:09Well.
08:09I was a part of that media.
08:10At the time.
08:11I don't think I was mean to you.
08:12But I'd like to apologize.
08:13And.
08:14But.
08:15Have you got any questions for me.
08:16About like.
08:17At that time.
08:18Covering the media.
08:19And how unfair it was.
08:19Like.
08:20For you.
08:21I'm sure.
08:22Just being in.
08:23The newsroom.
08:24Like.
08:24Were you ever pressured.
08:25For them.
08:26To try.
08:27To make you.
08:28Do or say things.
08:29That you felt.
08:30Like uncomfortable asking.
08:31Like you felt.
08:32Like it was.
08:33Going too far.
08:34Sometimes.
08:35I think.
08:34There were times.
08:35When there were.
08:36Stories.
08:37Where.
08:38I look back.
08:39And I'm.
08:39Like.
08:40Why did.
08:41They take that.
08:42Direction.
08:43And it questions.
08:44I think.
08:45My.
08:46I believe media.
08:47Reflect society.
08:48And society.
08:49Was meaner back.
08:49Then.
08:50And that's what people wanted.
08:51Now people don't.
08:52Want that.
08:53There's different.
08:54Meaner elements.
08:54On social media.
08:55But I think.
08:56It's an interesting.
08:57Questioner.
08:58I think.
08:59There are certainly.
09:00Things.
08:59Regret being involved in.
09:00Back at the time.
09:01And.
09:02I think the media.
09:03Has done better.
09:04In recent years.
09:04And I hope.
09:05You find that as well.
09:06Definitely.
09:07I know that.
09:08So many of the things.
09:09You know.
09:10The way that.
09:11Myself and other girls.
09:12Were treated back then.
09:13Would not happen today.
09:14It would not be accepted.
09:14So at least.
09:15It's changed.
09:16For other people.
09:17So I think.
09:18That's like.
09:19The silver lining.
09:20You had to go.
09:21For a lot.
09:19Pain.
09:20To get there.
09:21A big theme.
09:22From the documentary.
09:23Of music.
09:24Saving your life.
09:25Tell me.
09:26How.
09:24How that worked.
09:25For you.
09:26Just.
09:27You know.
09:28Just from going.
09:29Through so many.
09:29Traumatic experiences.
09:30As a teenager.
09:31And.
09:32You know.
09:34It was just so.
09:35Painful.
09:36And traumatizing.
09:37And.
09:38When I got out.
09:39Of those boarding schools.
09:40I just remember.
09:41Like.
09:42When I would.
09:43Go out at night.
09:44It was like.
09:45The one.
09:44Something.
09:45That I would just.
09:46Forget about.
09:47All the pain.
09:48And.
09:49Just like.
09:50Lose myself.
09:51In the music.
09:52And.
09:53Stuff.
09:54You.
09:55You.
09:56You.
09:57You.
09:58You.
09:59You.
10:00You.
10:01You.
10:02You.
10:03You.
10:04You.
10:05You.
10:06You.
10:07You.
10:08You.
10:09You.
10:10You.
10:11You.
10:12You.
10:13You.
10:14You.
10:15You.
10:16You.
10:17You.
10:18You.
10:19You.
10:20You.
10:21You.
10:22You.
10:23You.
10:24You.
10:25You.
10:26You.
10:27You.
10:18What's been the hardest thing to heal from, do you think?
10:23All of it, you know, I think these are things that will definitely affect me for the rest.
10:28Of my life, but especially being in these schools, which.
10:33My parents were told it was called emotional growth boarding schools and they were.
10:38Sold a lie.
10:38These places are so manipulative and their marketing tactics.
10:43Everything they had brochures where kids were smiling and there was like rainbows and people were riding horses.
10:48And everyone looks so happy.
10:50But what happened behind closed doors was a completely different.
10:53And it was terrifying just to be around these adults who.
10:58We're literally abusing all of us in so many ways.
11:01And.
11:03It's just it took many years for me to even talk about it.
11:07It was so.
11:08Traumatizing where it took me, you know, 20 years to even tell anyone.
11:13Why do you think that was there was a shame attached to it?
11:16Definitely.
11:16And I think that's.
11:18The way they get away with it, where they shame the kids in these places so much where.
11:23We were just too embarrassed and scared to talk about it.
11:27And it was just.
11:28So the things that happened were just so like crazy.
11:31It just.
11:32You.
11:33You wouldn't feel like anyone would believe you or.
11:35And you kind of go into.
11:38Being told you're a bad kid.
11:39This is why you're here.
11:40Yeah.
11:41And it just.
11:42It was just.
11:43It's horrible what they do in these places.
11:45And plus they get away with it because they can say to the parents.
11:48You know, oh, they're they're bad kids.
11:50They're lying.
11:50They're manipulating and they're trying to, you know, go home.
11:53So they're going to say that we're abusing them.
11:54They're going to say this.
11:55They kind of tell the parents what they're actually doing.
11:58But they say that the kids are lying.
11:59And of course, if you're sending your child to a place and you think.
12:03They're going to be protected and you have no idea the type of people that work at these
12:07places.
12:08It's, you know, a recipe for disaster.
12:10I mean, I read some of your memoir saying.
12:13That you were encouraged to verbally abuse each other and then hug each other afterwards.
12:17But how do.
12:18How do you untangle mental abuse like that?
12:20It's it just I don't understand it.
12:23It blows my mind how they think that that's therapy.
12:25And when you go into a place and you come.
12:28out more traumatized than when you went in.
12:30Did it make you scared of therapy after that?
12:32Yeah.
12:33I've never had therapy after that.
12:34You've never had therapy after that because.
12:36It made me not trust anyone.
12:37Just.
12:38Especially people like therapists because I just thought they were all those type of people.
12:43And it was just neat.
12:47Now being a mom.
12:48It just makes me even more just upset and that's why I just want to continue fighting and using.
12:53my voice to make a difference for these kids because nobody has believed them in so many years.
12:58until I've told my story and now it's started an entire movement so.
13:03It's just it's been so difficult especially for my mom and dad to hear about.
13:08these things because they had no idea that forgiveness like even though they were tricked the forgiveness process.
13:13for you with them must have been so difficult because I knew that they had no idea.
13:18because that's none of the parents knew that this was happening and.
13:23it's been yeah it's been like oh my mom has just been.
13:28so sad just to hear what has happened and she's been coming with me to DC.
13:33to help speak with the other parents and to let them know her story as well.
13:38because it's important for other families to know because I feel like the parents are just as much the victims and.
13:43that's done well thank you for you as much.
13:47the reallabini.
13:48as well so thank you for using this worldwide.
13:50thank you for using your voice for good.
13:52thank you.
13:53It's very good for the world.
13:56I love you very much.
13:58I love you.
14:04think you really are very much.
14:09And I love you much.
14:10Yes I love you.
14:12Sorrow this posible was mixed up and you know you were around.
13:48the most meaningful work of my life.
13:49Like, when I was a little girl, I would have never...
13:53I had no idea that one day I would be testifying in Congress and would have passed.
13:5815 state laws and the past two federal bills to protect children.
14:03So it makes it all worth it that I'm able to help that from happening to others.
14:08You should be proud.
14:09So instead of traditional therapy, music's been something that...
14:13really has helped to escape and to disassociate with a lot of the pain and the healing.
14:17What...
14:18What do you think would have happened if you didn't have music to help you?
14:21I don't know.
14:22I think...
14:23out of thinking of everything in my life, like music, art, and...
14:28music are the things that helped me so much.
14:31And even through doing this...
14:33documentary, I've just seen the power in music and even the power in listening...
14:38to a lyric in a song.
14:39Like something that could change your mood or even change your life.
14:42And...
14:43just so many of my fans have come up to me and said,
14:45thank you so much for your album.
14:48It saved my life.
14:49Like, thank you for your memoir.
14:50Thank you for your memoir.
14:51You have no idea how much it means to me.
14:53So just to see like the impact it could make on someone's life.
14:56And...
14:57I love that I'm able...
14:58now to have these concerts and create these safe spaces where my fans can come and...
15:03dress up however they want to wear like these outfits and have so much fun and just...
15:07lose their...
15:08lose their self in my music and have the most incredible night and forget about anything bad that...
15:13what's happening in their life.
15:14What's...
15:15what's the darkest moment you've been through?
15:16Was it in...
15:17Provo?
15:18Yes.
15:19Yes.
15:20Just the things that happened to those places should...
15:23never happened to anyone and especially not a child.
15:27And...
15:28just being terrified every single day of like what was going to happen next.
15:33And then having severe nightmares about it...
15:36for...
15:37you know...
15:38for 20 years until I started telling my story.
15:40Were there moments where you didn't want to be here anymore?
15:43When I was in there I was...
15:45it felt...
15:46everyone I felt...
15:47felt that way.
15:48like...
15:49you just...
15:50was like...
15:51it would be better not to live than being in these type of places.
15:53Um...
15:55but...
15:56it did make me really strong.
15:58where...
15:59it almost prepared me for Hollywood in a sense.
16:01Because I don't know if I could have...
16:03survived the 2000s and the way I was treated unless I had already been through such hell before.
16:08In the documentary...
16:10there was a line that really stuck with me...
16:12where you said...
16:13life doesn't stop...
16:14life doesn't stop with the drama...
16:16so neither should you.
16:18and I found it really interesting and something I've tried to embrace.
16:21Like...
16:22life is crazy and bad things are always...
16:23going to happen and you've just...
16:24got to power through.
16:25and we see that in the documentary when the fire and the trip happens in the...
16:28trailer...
16:29and you're...
16:30you've just got to keep going.
16:31It's a pivotal moment in the production.
16:33of the tour...
16:34how do you manage to carry on when bad things happen?
16:37and...
16:38you're somebody who...
16:39bad things have happened constantly...
16:40and you...
16:41are always smiling...
16:42you're always positive.
16:43from going through so much in my life...
16:45it's made me so strong and resilient...
16:47where...
16:48I can make it through anything...
16:50so no matter what life throws at me...
16:52it just...
16:53continues to make me stronger...
16:55every single time.
16:56Well...
16:57I'm loving this pop journey.
16:58what...
16:59what...
17:00what do you want to do next with your pop career?

17:07and...
17:08now...

17:13which will be released next year...
17:15and I can't wait...
17:16we have a big tour planned...
17:17so I can...

17:22Thank God.
17:23this is what I love to do...
17:24more than anything.

18:11famous...
18:12do you...
18:13ever...
18:13wish...
18:14you weren't famous...
18:15at all?
18:16I feel like...
18:18this is something...
18:19I was born to do...
18:20as well...
18:21I feel like...
18:22there's certain people...
18:23in life...
18:24that this is like...
18:23what they're...
18:24meant to be...
18:25so...
18:26even though...
18:27it's been...
18:28so difficult...
18:28and hard...
18:29I try to think about...
18:30all the beautiful things...
18:31that come with it...
18:32and I really see fame...
18:33as like...
18:34a superpower...
18:35to make people happy...
18:36so I love...
18:37that I'm...
18:38able to just...
18:39make people's days...
18:40by like...
18:41taking a photo...
18:42with them...
18:43or spending...
18:43time with them...
18:44or just...
18:45anything...
18:46smiling...
18:47I feel like...
18:48just makes people...
18:49so happy...

18:53and I love that I'm...
18:53able to use my platform...
18:54just to make...
18:55a difference...
18:56in other people's lives...
18:57so...
18:58even though...
18:59it has been...
19:00very traumatizing...
19:01at times...
19:02it's worth it...
19:03I like that...
19:04I love...
19:05love that you're...
19:06using your fame...
19:07and your platform...
19:08to do good in the world...
19:09how...
19:08how about...
19:09money...
19:10do you think...
19:11money brings you...
19:12happiness...
19:13it does...
19:14because I...
19:13I've worked so hard...
19:14and...
19:15success is something...
19:16that has always...
19:17really...
19:18been a...
19:18driving force for me...
19:19and...
19:20I feel very lucky...
19:21just to...
19:22grow up in my family...
19:23and have incredible...
19:24business mentors...
19:25with my grandfather...
19:26and my parents...
19:28and...
19:29I've always loved...
19:30to make them proud...
19:31and...
19:32I love that...
19:33I've...
19:33created this...
19:34entire brand...
19:35and empire...
19:36and now...
19:371111...
19:38my media company...
19:38so...
19:39it makes me happy...
19:40because I'm able...
19:41just to...
19:42feel...
19:43that happiness...
19:44and I think that...
19:45also...
19:46just from going...
19:47to those schools...
19:48and being so...
19:48controlled...
19:49that I made a promise...
19:50to myself...
19:51that I was gonna work...
19:52so hard...
19:53and become...
19:54so successful...
19:53that...
19:54no one could ever...
19:55control me...
19:56or tell me...
19:57what to do again...
19:58so I really see it...
19:58as...
19:59freedom...
20:00so you used...
20:01the pain...
20:02that you went through...
20:03and the restrictions...
20:03and the abuse...
20:04to...
20:05to drive your...
20:06your...
20:07your ambition...
20:08yes...
20:09what...
20:10do you say...
20:11to people who say...
20:12you've had it easy...
20:13because...
20:13you came from money...
20:14I could totally...
20:15understand people...
20:16saying that...
20:17because of course...
20:18I'm very privileged...
20:20that I'm...
20:21you know...
20:22came from a family...
20:23where...
20:23I've been able to...
20:24learn so much...
20:25from such incredible...
20:26businessmen...
20:27and women...
20:28just...
20:30you know...
20:31coming from my last name...
20:32as well...
20:33so...
20:33but I've seen a lot...
20:34of other people...
20:35who come from...
20:36you know...
20:37prestigious families...
20:38and...
20:39a lot of them...
20:40don't do anything...
20:41like...
20:42a lot of people...
20:43I know...
20:43like...
20:44they just get like...
20:45an allowance...
20:46from their parents...
20:47still...
20:48they've never worked...
20:49a day in their life...
20:50and...
20:48I've also seen...
20:49just how unhappy...
20:50they are...
20:51because I feel like...
20:52they have no...
20:53fulfillment in life...
20:54because...
20:53they...
20:54are just handed everything...
20:55and...
20:56they've never had to work...
20:57for any of it...
20:58so...
20:58yes...
20:59I can understand people...
21:00they don't know...
21:01and don't see...
21:02how much work...
21:03has went into...
21:03everything that I do...
21:04and...
21:05just how...
21:06what I've created...
21:07and what I've built...
21:08and...
21:08what I've...
21:09been through...
21:10on top of all that...
21:11so...
21:12I think...
21:13if people know me...
21:14they understand...
21:15but then...
21:16if there's like...
21:17an outsider...
21:18who just...
21:19you know...
21:20sees the name...
21:21Paris Hilton...
21:22self-made...
21:22but like...
21:22my grandad...
21:23paid me to go to...
21:24Journalism...
21:24school...
21:25everybody's gonna get...
21:26some help...
21:26how much...
21:27How much help did you get at the beginning?
21:29I used to get an allowance, but...
21:32I haven't got anything since I was 18.
21:3418, so that's the same as me.
21:36My...
21:37Mine was probably 21 through college,
21:39so you didn't get money from a parent.
21:42So there was no trust fund, nothing like that.
21:44I've been working since I was 16.
21:47And so they didn't help with the deposit for a house
21:49or anything like that?
21:50No, I did everything on my own.
21:51So that's...
21:52It's really not fair that people criticize you
21:54for not believing that you're...
21:57self-made because there was a New York Post thing
21:59saying fans are reacting, saying she's delusional,
22:01thinking she's self-made.
22:02If they actually knew everything
22:04and saw everything, they would understand.
22:07That's really interesting, so congratulations.
22:10How will you handle that balance?
22:12with your own kids?
22:13Because obviously you've been incredibly successful.
22:17How will you create the balance of trying to work out
22:20how much support to give them?
22:22I think it's, you know, just from growing up in this way
22:26and seeing so many...
22:27others, I think if you spoil your children,
22:29you will destroy them.
22:30So that's something...
22:32that my husband and I talk about where we, of course,
22:34want to give them the most beautiful life,
22:35make them so happy, but...
22:37we also want to instill that work ethic in them
22:39and make them want to do something with their own.
22:42lives, and I think with my babies growing up
22:44and seeing just how hard I work and...
22:47everything I accomplish,
22:48it's going to be really inspirational to them.
22:50And that's why I've built so...
22:52much at the house where I have, like,
22:53my recording studio here, the podcasting studio, the...
22:57photo studio, just, like, so much of my work
22:59I'm able to do from home, and my kids are always...
23:02they're watching everything.
23:03So I feel like that will be instilled in them,
23:05just, like, any...
23:07so I'm in a meeting here, like,
23:08they're sitting on my lap.
23:09So, like, I feel like even though they're babies,
23:11they're soaking it.
23:12in, and they'll continue to do so throughout their life.
23:15So, um, yeah.
23:17I think for my kids, I just want them to be so happy
23:19and be incredible human beings, and...
23:22I want them to do whatever makes them happy.
23:24You've talked a lot about reclaiming your narrative.
23:26What's one...
23:27misconception about Paris Hilton
23:28that you're still trying to correct?
23:31I feel like I've been such...
23:32an open book in the past five years
23:34where I've discussed everything.
23:37so I don't really think there's any anymore.
23:39I feel like I've cleared up so many misconceptions.
23:42I feel like before, they just, you know,
23:44thought I was a dumb blonde because of the simple life.
23:47But I've proved that I am not a dumb blonde,
23:49and I'm just very good at pretending to be blonde.
23:52Well, that comes on to my next question, actually.
23:55I loved in the...
23:57in a movie when, um, you're doing a recording
24:00and somebody says,
24:00you can use your real voice.
24:02on this one.
24:03And it reminded me,
24:04I was on your BFF show with you back in the day.
24:07and we would record,
24:08and you'd have this baby voice saying,
24:09that's hot.
24:10And then we'd go off and you'll be with...
24:12Benji talking about beats in this voice so low.
24:14And I would just be like,
24:16she's two different people.
24:17And so, like, you, you pretended to be somebody.
24:22Was that...
24:22Where did that come from?
24:24Was that protectionism,
24:25protecting yourself by...
24:27being a caricature?
24:28Or was that strategically to play a part and earn money?
24:32I think, you know,
24:33I didn't even realize until...
24:35You still do it.
24:36What was it?
24:37That was high or low, though?
24:37That was low, though.
24:38See, I literally can't even control it.
24:40I think it's just such a part of me now because...
24:42I've been doing it for so long.
24:44But I do think it was a trauma response to what I want.
24:47I went through where I just kind of wanted to build this perfect,
24:50like, a Barbie doll.
24:52And, like, a Disney kind of, I don't know, a Barbie...
24:57character and then, you know, getting the simple life and then the producer.
25:02is telling me, you know, we want you to play this kind of blonde, spoiled airhead.
25:07and play into this character and this was the first reality show and I had no idea...
25:12I'd have to continue on that character for five seasons straight and then every talk show...
25:17and everything I would go on, I would be the character and then I just kind of got stuck in it almost because...
25:22the whole world thought that's who I really was and I'm also a very naturally shy person.
25:27so I feel like being the character, it made it easier for me to kind of...
25:32be silly and say ridiculous things. I don't know.
25:35I feel like if The Simple Life had me talk...
25:37talking in my normal voice and not playing the character, it would not have been the show that it was.
25:42I can see that. I know Nikki, your sister, and she's shy too and that shyness...
25:47comes across with both of you and it's an understanding that like you're playing a part...
25:52to get through social anxiety, sometimes I'll do that at parties, like I've got to be down.
25:57I can't wait for tonight. How do you deal with social anxiety now?
26:02I still have social anxiety and I think that might be the ADHD as well because I'm just so...
26:07in my head all the time and I get just... I think also since the pandemic like...
26:12I've gotten just like way more anxiety than I used to.
26:17But then if I'm around like if I bring like the best friend or like I'm with like a group of people I trust...
26:22then I feel more comfortable. But if I'm just like going in somewhere and not knowing...
26:27like anyone, sometimes I get a little nervous. I think that's normal. I feel like everyone...
26:31I mean it's just like us.
26:32It's just like regular folks. Everybody deals with mental health issues.
26:35But people wouldn't imagine that Paris...
26:37this striking beautiful blonde woman with everything would be nervous going into...
26:42an event.
26:43Yeah, I think people would definitely be surprised to know that.
26:47What's your relationship with the character of Paris Hilton these days?
26:51Well...
26:52I think before I saw it as like a form of protection and now I see it as...
26:57like my just fun silly side like...
27:00you know there's a time and...
27:02like a different place for everything.
27:03And like when I'm doing TikToks or just like doing certain content or...
27:07you know like different campaigns with brands and they want me to play the character...
27:10like I...
27:11I'm...
27:12I will do it and I love doing it.
27:14Um...
27:15and then obviously when I go to...
27:17DCC and I'm speaking on Capitol Hill and talking about serious subjects...
27:21that's when you see...
27:22like...
27:23the real side of me.
27:24Um...
27:25but yeah...
27:26I just...
27:27I couldn't do...
27:27do it back and forth.
27:28We can all have silly sides and serious sides.
27:31It's fun.
27:32I think a lot of artists and people do.
27:34Like they are...
27:35a lot of people I've spoken to like actors...
27:37Beyonce, Sasha Fierce, JLo, Jennifer Lopez.
27:40Yeah.
27:41We all have that.
27:42and we all have the one when we're at home...
27:44you know chilling in our sweats and just like...
27:46like...
27:47right back and just like ourselves.
27:48So you are just like us.
27:50You're playing the part of an entitled heiress.
27:52But now 20 years have passed.
27:54I have to ask you the question.
27:56Was the warm-up...
27:57questions set up?
27:58Or did you really not know what a warm-up was at the time?
28:01Yeah.
28:03I did.
28:04You did that?
28:05I did, yeah.
28:06You did.
28:07I just thought...
28:07I thought it would be a funny line.
28:08And you came up with a line?
28:09I just...
28:10Yeah.
28:11It wasn't like I thought about it...
28:12in advance because I didn't even know we were going to talk about Walmart.
28:14Yeah.
28:15But when it came up I was like in my mind...
28:17I was like this will be funny.
28:18I had no idea it would be such an iconic line that people to this day still say...
28:22And now I have like my entire kitchenware and home...
28:27Your fragrances were in Walmart.
28:28All of it.
28:29Yeah.
28:30So...
28:31When was the last time you were in Walmart?
28:32Um...
28:33I was there two weeks ago.
28:34Um...
28:35In Arkansas actually.
28:36I go there all the time.
28:37Um...
28:38To go meet with the whole team out there.
28:39And I was showing them all the new products from my new line.
28:42For Paris and Pups.
28:43And my new homeware line.
28:45And kitchenware line.
28:46And...
28:47storage line.
28:48And all of it.
28:49I have so...
28:50I have like over 400 SKUs of products.
28:52inside of Walmart.
28:53So now I know they don't sell walls.
28:55They sell Paris Hilton Pratt.
28:57Yeah.
28:57You're just a...
28:58You're just a comedy icon.
28:59Um...
29:00Moving on to something a bit more difficult.
29:01The sex...
29:02The sex tape.
29:03Um...
29:04It's really heartbreaking.
29:05Looking back on the doc...
29:06In the documentary.
29:07And you talk about...
29:07that you had no agency about this.
29:10Besides Pamela Anderson.
29:12You were the first celebrity to go through this publicly.
29:16And...
29:17The internet was different.
29:18The copyright was different.
29:19It was a wild, wild west.
29:20And now it would be impossible.
29:22To happen.
29:23Like...
29:24Was there no way of stopping it coming out?
29:26How was that?
29:27At that time.
29:28It was...
29:29Just...
29:30Humiliating.
29:31It was...
29:32Humiliating.
29:32Being...
29:33So painful.
29:34I did not want to leave my house.
29:35I was just...
29:37It was just...
29:38You know...
29:39Just trust somebody.
29:40And have them...
29:41Violate...
29:42Violate me like that.
29:43It was just...
29:44The most horrible thing that you could do to a person.
29:47And...
29:48And...
29:49There was nothing that I could do about it.
29:51And...
29:52Yeah.
29:53That's something that will haunt me the rest of my life.
29:56And if that happened to...
29:57Every day...
29:58It would be illegal.
29:59Um...
30:00So...
30:02I mean, I think...
30:03Like another thing I went through that now would be illegal for people today.
30:06So I think...
30:07That...
30:08Again...
30:09Is the good part that other girls don't have to go through that.
30:11But...
30:12Um...
30:13Yeah.
30:14That was...
30:15I mean, when you frame it that this was a young girl...
30:17Who didn't...
30:18Who...
30:19Was coerced to do this.
30:20And then was publicly humiliated.
30:22And flogged for it afterwards.
30:24It...
30:25Like...
30:26It...
30:27It really wasn't...
30:28Really...
30:27It wasn't fair.
30:28I'm not going to mention the name of the guy because you cleverly didn't do that.
30:32In the dark.
30:33Have you ever spoken to that ex again?
30:35No.
30:36Would you ever have...
30:37Have a conversation with him?
30:38No.
30:39Um...
30:40Have you thought about when your kids find out?
30:42About the sex tape and how you'll approach it with them?
30:46That...
30:47That's gonna be a really...
30:48Just...
30:49Painful...
30:50Subject to talk about.
30:51Like...
30:52I don't even know.
30:53Like...
30:54I haven't even thought about what I'm gonna say since they're only two years old.
30:57Right?
30:57Um...
30:58But...
30:59Yeah.
31:00Yo!
31:01I wouldn't think so.
31:02That night is a great end.
31:03That night is my runtime.
31:04ìž–ì•„ìš”.
31:05I...
31:06I never had to be on my phone right now.
31:07But...
31:08Yeah.
31:09So it's just horrible and now just being a mom again just think
31:14about that just makes me even sadder for me that I had to go through all that.
31:19I had to go through it publicly and have people vilify me for it when I was just a 19-year-old kid, basically.
31:24Yeah, the media were just brutal for you, the news media.
31:29Particularly the expert in the documentary said you're targeted because of your intelligence to play the game.
31:34Effectively, we kind of played the game together similar to Princess Diana.
31:37You worked with the press at times.
31:39You welcomed them into your life, posed for the paparazzi.
31:42Do you think you paid?
31:44The price for that by welcoming the media?
31:46I didn't think that was fair at all.
31:48I was always...
31:49respectful and kind.
31:51And I knew that people were just trying to do their job.
31:54So I would always be nice to everyone.
31:57I never was one of those celebrities.
31:59They would tell them off or go off on them like I've seen some people do.
32:04So I just thought it was really unfair the way that they did that.
32:08I'm going to read some of that.
32:09You know, the headlines from the documentary and just ask you, like, how did they make you feel?
32:14Back then, like the idea that this was a description of a young woman in a...
32:19early twenties.
32:20Paris Hilton.
32:21What's the point?
32:22Famous for nothing.
32:23Bimbo summit.
32:24No brains.
32:24All fame.
32:25A new low for celebrity culture.
32:27Like, you're human just like the rest of...
32:29How did that feel at the time?
32:31It was really hurtful.
32:33You know, I was just...
32:34just a young girl, just living my life, but I had the whole world watching.
32:39And judging and picking everything apart and just...
32:43I felt...
32:44I felt like no matter what I did or what I accomplished, people just...
32:49refuse to...
32:50I don't know, just see...
32:52see me as like a human.
32:54being.
32:55It was just like a cartoon character or like a punchline that they just made...
32:59make fun of.
33:00And...
33:01it just always hurt my feelings because I've always been such a sensitive...
33:04person as well.
33:05And then on top of it, when having ADHD...
33:09we experience emotions like 10 times more than...
33:14a neurotypical person.
33:15And...
33:16especially...
33:17there's something called RSD.
33:19which is rejection sensitive dysphoria, which 99% of people...
33:24ADHD experience.
33:25So...
33:26to have things like said like...
33:29that...
33:30that...
33:31is just...
33:32physically pain.
33:34painful.
33:35Like it's like...
33:36being stabbed in the heart.
33:37Like it's just...
33:38I would...
33:39cry so much all the time, just like...
33:41constantly hearing things and people making up lies.
33:44and stories.
33:45It was just...
33:46a nightmare.
33:47What would you say to the people who wrote those?
33:49headlines now?
33:50Say...
33:51look at me now, honey.
33:54I've always loved proving people wrong.
33:57So many...
33:58so much of my career...
33:59been underestimated and misunderstood.
34:01So now today, just to see...
34:04my life and everything that I've accomplished and...
34:07my beautiful family and...
34:09just everything that I've done.
34:11And now...
34:12I've had so many people come up and...
34:14apologize to me.
34:15So many reporters...
34:17just...
34:18people...
34:19on the street have said that.
34:20If I'm doing an interview...
34:21just so many people have said...
34:22I'm so sorry for the way that...
34:24myself and others treated you...
34:25because you did not deserve that.
34:27So it feels...
34:28it's very...
34:29very healing to hear that from people...
34:30to realize that they know it was wrong.
34:32What advice would you give...
34:34to the...
34:35to the young girl who's going through that now?
34:37Hmm...
34:39my advice would be that...
34:42you shouldn't listen...
34:44people like that...
34:45that...
34:46what matters most...
34:47is what you think of yourself.
34:49so don't let that outside noise...
34:51affect how you feel about yourself...
34:53because...
34:54a lot of people...
34:56can be mean...
34:57especially...
34:58you know...
34:59now...
34:59about the internet...
35:00and...
35:01you know...
35:02people are able to hide...
35:03behind a computer...
35:04and...
35:04it's...
35:05it's a different form of meanness now...
35:06it's different...
35:07I feel like the media...
35:08it wasn't like that...
35:09but then there's like the...
35:09internet trolls...
35:10who are just like...
35:11these people living in like...
35:12their parents' basement...
35:13like...
35:14miserable...
35:15with no life...
35:16and like...
35:17just sit on the computer all day...
35:18just writing...
35:19rude things...
35:19to people...
35:20like...
35:21I just would tell them...
35:22like...
35:23I would feel bad...
35:24for these people...
35:25that they...
35:24are that miserable...
35:26that they need to go and...
35:27and try to...
35:28tear you down...
35:29and don't let it affect you...
35:30In the movie...
35:31I found it really interesting...
35:32you talking about...
35:33your ADHD...
35:34and thank you...
35:35I think...
35:36like...
35:37I believe...
35:38with mental health challenges...
35:39it's so important...
35:40to talk about them...
35:41and normalise...
35:39them...
35:40and destigmatise...
35:41them...
35:42and make people feel...
35:43less alone...
35:44and...
35:45you've been a leading...
35:44person with ADHD...
35:45to do that...
35:46and...
35:47the quote that really hit me...
35:48from the documentary...
35:49was...
35:49success...
35:50but I wish...
35:51I could be as happy...
35:52as someone...
35:53without the ADHD...
35:54demon...
35:54voice...
35:55who had had all these things...
35:56still have...
35:57would have had all these things...
35:58so...
35:59do you still feel like that?
36:01It's...
36:02it's gotten...
36:03much better...
36:04like...
36:05now that I've...
36:06really...
36:07studied...
36:08and researched...
36:09and know so much...
36:09about my ADHD...
36:10but...
36:11growing up...
36:12no one was talking about it...
36:13especially with...
36:14young girls...
36:15so...
36:16I had no idea...
36:17like...
36:18being in school...
36:19and...
36:19constantly...
36:20getting in trouble...
36:21all the time...
36:22like...
36:23not able to focus...
36:24like...
36:25always in detention...
36:24and always failing...
36:25like...
36:26all the tests...
36:27because I couldn't...
36:28remember anything...
36:29or like...
36:30losing my home...
36:29work...
36:30just like...
36:31so many things...
36:32would happen...
36:33and...
36:34you know...
36:35people with ADD...
36:36would just be called...
36:37like...
36:38schools...
36:39is because of it...
36:40because I just...
36:41was not able to...
36:42focus in school...
36:43or anything...
36:43no matter...
36:44how hard I tried...
36:45um...
36:46and then...
36:47now...
36:48knowing...
36:49that...
36:50the voices...
36:51from that...
36:52that are negative...
36:53self...
36:53talk...
36:54are not true...
36:55like...
36:56that...
36:57is always a good thing...
36:58so...
36:58that happening...
36:59I'll just...
37:00immediately say...
37:01that's not you...
37:02that's just your ADHD...
37:03so that's how you manage...
37:03that's really...
37:04I really love sharing...
37:05solutions...
37:06that's how you...
37:07I talked to...
37:08I mean...
37:08an amazing doctor...
37:09named Dr. Hallowell...
37:10who is like...
37:11one of the leading...
37:12ADHD psychiatrists...
37:13and...
37:14he has it as well...
37:15and he...
37:16calls it...
37:17the demon...
37:18it's called...
37:19DMN...
37:20which is like...
37:21the default mode network...
37:22with the real...
37:23Termporters...
37:24In the documentary...
37:25you call it the demon voice...
37:26I found it fascinating...
37:27the idea that all of these...
37:28doesn't mean things...
37:29are being said...
37:30about you and the press...
37:31but it's worse in your head...
37:33that you were saying...
37:34worse things about yourself...
37:35Yeah, so...
37:36that was just...
37:37painful and I...
37:38I think...
37:39through doing this documentary...
37:40like...
37:41I feel like...
37:42I never even gave myself...
37:43the credit for...
37:43like...
37:44how much I survived...
37:45even going through that...
37:46like...
37:47after everything...
37:48I'd already went through...
37:49in these schools then...
37:48you know...
37:49coming out...
37:50into Hollywood...
37:51and then having...
37:52the media...
37:53say all these crazy...
37:53things...
37:54like...
37:55it was just...
37:56it was...
37:57it was just so traumatic...
37:58back then...
37:59so I'm so...
38:00like...
38:01grateful...
38:02now...
38:03healed...
38:04from that...
38:05and now...
38:06I'm able to tell...
38:07my story to others...
38:08because I know...
38:09there's so many...
38:10other...
38:11that we're going through...
38:12the same thing right now...
38:13and...
38:14just to...
38:15tell them...
38:16and let them know...
38:16that...
38:17this is something...
38:18that we all experience...
38:19and that those things...
38:20are not true...
38:21and...
38:21to be strong...
38:22and to lean on...
38:23in on it...
38:24as your superpower...
38:25because I wouldn't be...
38:26the woman I am today...
38:27without it as well...
38:28I wouldn't be...
38:29the entrepreneur I am...
38:30I wouldn't be...
38:31the creative I am...
38:31I wouldn't have...
38:32so many different businesses...
38:33without...
38:34the ADHD...
38:35so...
38:36I want...
38:36to inspire others...
38:37that...
38:38this can be a superpower...
38:40and you can just...
38:41lean into what you love...
38:42they say that...
38:43we can't focus...
38:44but...
38:45that's not true...
38:46we can...
38:46hyper-focus...
38:47like no other...
38:48we just can't...
38:49focus on things...
38:50that are boring...
38:51but the things...
38:52that light us up...
38:53we will focus...
38:54like a superhero...
38:55that's really interesting...
38:56it's just that...
38:57all of our brains...
38:58have worked differently...
38:59and so...
39:00the fact you're talking...
39:01about it...
39:01realising this...
39:02and showing it's actually...
39:03a positive...
39:04not a negative...
39:05is a great example...
39:06for society...
39:06so thank you...
39:07I've had so many...
39:08families...
39:09kids...
39:10people come up to me...
39:11thank you so much...
39:12for writing your song...
39:13ADHD...
39:14like...
39:15my child...
39:16used to be so...
39:16ashamed of it...
39:17but now...
39:18that's their anthem...
39:19and they're singing it...
39:20every morning...
39:21and telling everyone...
39:21ADHD is my superpower...
39:23so I love how...
39:24I'm able to reframe it...
39:25especially for these...
39:26young kids...
39:27growing up with it...
39:28because I know...
39:29that a lot of them...
39:30are struggling...
39:31and back in the noughties...
39:31you couldn't...
39:32admit...
39:33to having any...
39:34any weaknesses...
39:35and now it's different...
39:36opening up with your...
39:37vulnerabilities...
39:38is your superpower...
39:39yes...
39:40for sure...
39:41growing up...
39:41in the 2000s...
39:42like...
39:43no one was even...
39:44saying the word...
39:45mental health...
39:46like...
39:47if you heard that...
39:48they'd be like...
39:46mental hospital...
39:47like...
39:48they wouldn't...
39:49understand that...
39:50I'm a big believer...
39:51and I've done a lot...
39:51of work...
39:52in the mental health...
39:53space...
39:54that like...
39:55everybody...
39:56has got somebody...
39:57in the family...
39:58who's going through...
39:59something...
40:00scratch...
40:01beneath...
40:02and it...
40:03and it...
40:04people don't talk about it...
40:05and we should encourage it...
40:06and make people...
40:07feel less aligned...
40:07thank you...
40:08for all of your work...
40:09thank you...
40:10I think it's amazing...
40:11seeing this new generation...
40:12and how...
40:12open they are...
40:13just how...
40:14you know...
40:15we were all taught...
40:16like...
40:17if anything's wrong...
40:17don't talk about it...
40:18just like...
40:18everything's fine...
40:19but when you do...
40:20talk about things...
40:21it just shows...
40:22like...
40:23the power of vulnerability...
40:24and telling your truth...
40:25and just like...
40:26letting...
40:27it out...
40:28and it just like...
40:29helps you so much...
40:30and then it makes...
40:31others feel...
40:32safe to open up...
40:32and then it starts...
40:33like this whole...
40:34domino effect...
40:35where so many people...
40:36could heal...
40:37around the world...
40:37you are just like us...
40:38the relatable things...
40:39what matter...
40:40so...
40:41all of my gay friends...
40:42are totally jealous...
40:43I'm here with you...
40:44at your house...
40:45and...
40:46until I saw...
40:47this...
40:47documentary...
40:48I didn't really realize...
40:49why you were a gay icon...
40:50and...
40:51I...
40:52there were tears...
40:53streaming down my face...
40:54when you said...
40:55they are the ones...
40:56who gave me...
40:57the greatest gift...
40:57showing me...
40:58what it truly means...
40:59to live my truth...
41:00for so long...
41:01I was weighed down...
41:02by the shame...
41:02over what I went through...
41:03in the troubled teen industry...
41:04I've never heard...
41:05a straight person...
41:06understand...
41:07the shame...
41:08that gay people...
41:09go through...
41:10living in a world...
41:11feeling othered...
41:12and not feeling...
41:12feeling welcomed...
41:13and...
41:14the fact that...
41:15you could empathize...
41:16with that...
41:17with what you've...
41:18gone through...
41:17I found that...
41:18really powerful...
41:19so...
41:20thank you...
41:21when...
41:22when did you realize...
41:22your similarities...
41:23with the gay community...
41:24just...
41:25especially...
41:26getting out...
41:27out of those schools...
41:28and then...
41:29David LaChapelle...
41:30and I...
41:31were very close friends...
41:32forever...
41:33and I was one of his muses...
41:34and he would take me...
41:35to all the gay clubs...
41:36so I was hanging out...
41:37like him...
41:37and Amanda Lepore...
41:38and Patricia Field...
41:39and like...
41:40that whole club scene...
41:41and just...
41:42feeling so...
41:43like...
41:44much love...
41:45so accepted...
41:46just seeing...
41:47these people...
41:48who just like...
41:49live their life...
41:50out loud...
41:51just...
41:52beautiful...
41:53inside and out...
41:52and...
41:53just...
41:54learned so much...
41:55from that...
41:56just...
41:57an incredible...
41:57community...
41:58in so many ways...
41:59Pride is my favorite...
42:00time of the year...
42:01it's...
42:02so much fun...
42:02being on stage...
42:03performing...
42:04going to all the gay clubs...
42:05and...
42:06feeling the energy...
42:07the...
42:07love in the room...
42:08it's like...
42:09nothing...

42:12much...
42:12fun...
42:13well...
42:14thank...
42:15thank you...
42:16for your support...
42:17the way you vocalize...
42:18that connection...
42:17the community...
42:18was so...
42:19breathtaking...
42:20how have you...
42:21dealt with that...
42:22shame...
42:22you talked about...
42:23I've just felt...
42:24that...
42:25a lot of the things...
42:26that have happened...
42:27in my life...
42:27or because other people...
42:28hurt me...
42:29and something...
42:30another message...
42:31in this film...
42:32that I...
42:32want to...
42:33have others know...
42:34is that...
42:35the shame...
42:36should not...
42:37be on us...
42:38it should be...
42:39on the people...
42:40who hurt us...
42:41and...
42:42I was actually...
42:43speaking with...
42:42one of the...
42:43survivors...
42:44who...
42:45went to Provo Canyon...
42:46school with me...
42:47and she said that...
42:47got to me...
42:48when we were doing...
42:49my first documentary...
42:50and that's something...
42:51that stuck with me...
42:52ever since...
42:52that's so true...
42:53I feel like...
42:54so many of the times...
42:55so many of us...
42:56have held on to shame...
42:57which...
42:57never should have been...
42:58on us...
42:59it should have always...
43:00been on that person...
43:01who hurt us...
43:02so I think that's...
43:03such a powerful message...
43:04for people...
43:05to know...
43:06in their hearts...
43:07because I feel like...
43:07that would...
43:08take away...
43:09a lot of pain...
43:10from people...
43:11if they knew that...
43:12Motherhood...
43:13they say...
43:12becoming a parent...
