Kendall Jenner is making her first-ever Super Bowl ad and she's laughing at the so-called "Kardashian curse." In a Fanatics Sportsbook commercial that debuted online January 27, Jenner says the internet claims any basketball player who dates her "hits a rough patch." She jokes her lifestyle comes from sports betting, not modeling, while pointing to portraits of unnamed basketball exes with their faces ripped out. Jenner also cracks lines about "Basketball Boyfriend 1," "Boyfriend 2" and "Boyf

00:00Today I'm interviewing one of the most defining figures from the last quarter century of celebrity
00:05history a true icon Paris Hilton and I started our careers around the same
00:10time in the two thousands I wrote about her in the pages of the magazines I've worked for she was the
00:15original influencer as the socialite queen of the nightlife with the famous last name
00:20after a very public betrayal involving a leaked sex tape Paris did something people did
00:25expect she leveraged her notoriety and built a ground-breaking reality show
00:30an entertainment empire that she estimates to be worth one billion dollars today
00:35she's a multi-hyphenate entrepreneur with ventures in music fashion skincare and even
00:40as 30 fragrances and for many people the idea of Paris Hilton still comes
00:45up someone impossibly unrelatable wrapped in luxury and privilege she's the last
00:50person you'd imagine to be just like us but in recent years Paris has evolved beyond
00:55just being a successful businesswoman she's become more vulnerable and opened up to tell her full
01:00story and what was really going on behind the glitter and glamour in doing so she's made
01:05valuable contributions to the world in a 2020 documentary this is Paris she told her how
01:10the following story of being sent off to Utah's Provo Canyon School and became an advocate for
01:15survivors of the troubled teen industry leading to the passing of legislation reform she also
01:20uses her platform to talk about the misogynistic treatment of women in media and her charity
01:25work including launching funds for wildlife relief and is a vocal advocate for animals
01:30and for gender and national welfare and for the neurodivergent and the LGBTQ communities
01:34and so
01:35So although Paris may live the high life and may or may not have an entire...
01:40...dedicated to her 10,000 pairs of sunglasses, she has challenges and setbacks that...
01:45...to reveal, she may just be just like us. Today we'll dive deep into her life and...
01:50...documentary Infinite Icon, a visual memoir and assess how just like us...
01:55...this is Paris Hilton.
02:00So do you have a room for 10,000 sunglasses?
02:04I have lots of sunglasses.
02:05And that was at my other house that I just moved into. So this house...
02:10...has my glam room and it has my 10,000 sunglasses in it, yeah.
02:14So I like to start...
02:15...at my interviews with a little ritual about something personal about the person...
02:19...and I was so dumb.
02:20Confounded that you have 30 perfumes. I asked your team to send me some.
02:25...so that we could test them. So tell me about this one.
02:28This is my 30th fragrance.
02:30And it's called Iconic. And it is so beautiful. It has like...
02:34It really...
02:35...the rose tint. I love rose.
02:37Yes.
02:38It's like peony, raspberry...
02:40...rose. Those are some of the notes. And it's just like...
02:45...the house is just like very...
02:47...light, summery.
02:49...gorgeous.
02:50And I feel like men and women could both wear it.
02:53I would... I wear rose tint tones.
02:55And sometimes.
02:56I love it.
02:57What...
02:58If you've got 30 perfumes, how do you decide what...
03:00...to wear in the morning?
03:02I...
03:03...just kind of like what mood I'm in.
03:05I love that I have one literally for like every day of the month because there's 30.
03:08And do you only wear your own?
03:09Yeah.
03:10Yes.
03:11I've not worn another person's perfume since I was a little girl.
03:14But it's such a...
03:15...because when I was a little girl I would always go into my mom's boudoir and she collects perfumes.
03:20And my sister and I would be playing with all of them.
03:22And I was like, Mom, one day I'm going to have my own perfume.
03:25So...
03:25So now to have just released my 30th is just another dream come true.
03:28Well, it's not just like us to have...
03:30...but they are quite reasonable, right?
03:32What a surprise point.
03:33Yes.
03:34These are at Ulta Beauty.
03:35And for the size, this one's 80.
03:38So we're here in your craft room.
03:40And this helps your ADHD, right?
03:42It does.
03:43This is like...
03:44If you...
03:45If you looked inside my mind, what it looks like.
03:47I feel like the camera can't see at all because like...
03:50...the top with the rainbow and the butterflies, the clouds.
03:53Like...
03:54It feels like a dream.
03:55And when I walk in here with the kids, like we have so much fun doing art and just hanging out and...
04:00It's also my office and I love being able to look out the window and see...
04:05...like my 11-11 office and the waterfall and the just beautiful backyard.
04:10And all of it.
04:11It just...
04:12It's your safe space.
04:13Yeah.
04:14It just literally looks...
04:15Like when I was little, I would make like mood boards and like manifest what I wanted.
04:20In life, I really...
04:21Like this is what it was.
04:22And crafting gives you that...
04:23Yeah.
04:24That safe space.
04:25I love it.
04:26Well, you're...
04:27We're here in your home.
04:28It's absolutely beautiful.
04:29It's Beverly Hills.
04:30It is not quite just like us, but it is very unapologetically you.
04:35Are there any elements of just like us around the house?
04:38Are there like piles of unfolded lawns?
04:40Are there laundry?
04:41Are there dishes fill in the sink?
04:42I feel like it's just like...
04:45Any other family's house with kids.
04:47You know, there's toys everywhere.
04:49There's...
04:50Of course, like the laundry room as a laundry.
04:52Um, but then also we have like a water slide and...
04:55Like the pink tennis court and all the other fun things.
04:59It's like...
05:00The ultimate fun house.
05:01Like I feel like this is like the house I dreamed of since I was a little girl.
05:05So it's fabulous, but it's relatable and family just like everybody else.
05:09Just like regular folks.
05:10And I think that's what your new documentary really shows as well.
05:14It's an...
05:15It's an exploration into the human side of you, just like our side of you.
05:19Because it shows your...
05:20Life as a music icon and it marries that with the vulnerability of what...
05:25You've gone through.
05:26Behind the stardust and the glitter, it says I am...
05:30You're human.
05:31Like what do you want people to take away from the documentary?
05:34I feel that...
05:35This is really like a third part of a trilogy.
05:38Like the first time I really opened up...
05:40And, you know, showed people who I was, was through my first documentary.
05:44This is Paris.
05:45And then going even deeper through my memoir.
05:48And now in this part...
05:50With Infinite Icon, it's like my whole life through the lens of music.
05:55And just going back, you know, from the beginning, since I was a...
06:00Little Girl and all these dreams that I had.
06:02But then just going into so much more.
06:05Because I feel like within these past five years, I've just been on this whole journey.
06:10Of self-discovery and just learning so much and healing so much.
06:15And just so much has happened.
06:16So I just wanted to show that story and...
06:20I feel like it's also a story that others can relate to as well.
06:22I think we're going to talk through lots of those different points.
06:25On there, but to start with the music, I loved seeing you on the stage and so happy.
06:30And it being such a fulfilling journey.
06:32How does it feel to be up there when you're performing?
06:35When I'm on stage, it feels like the most incredible, magical feeling.
06:40In the world, just seeing everyone in the audience so happy and...
06:45excited and screaming and crying and singing along and dancing and just the...
06:50energy and love in the room is like another level.
06:53And when I'm up there, I just feel like...
06:55this was what I was born to do.
06:56It's funny because I've followed your career and worked with...
07:00you and covered your career for so long.
07:03And I never realized that music...
07:05was the pure love.
07:07And so, like, it made me wonder watching...
07:10the documentary.
07:11Do you feel that becoming famous before you explore music...
07:15hampered your ability to become a pop star quicker?
07:18Yeah, I do.
07:19I think that...
07:20just, you know, from doing The Simple Life, like a reality show...
07:23I think anyone who does reality...
07:25and then if they go into music...
07:27you're just not going to be taken seriously.
07:29And...
07:30especially during the early 2000s...
07:32when just the media...
07:34was...
07:35just extremely cruel to young women in the industry.
07:38So...
07:40it was always...
07:41really hurtful to me because it was just such a dream of mine,
07:44you know.
07:45ever since I could remember what I'd love to do...
07:47since I was literally, like, three years old.
07:49Like...
07:50I just...
07:51always wanted to be a pop star...
07:52but...
07:53I just felt that...
07:54my music didn't...
07:55didn't get the chance that it deserved...
07:56because...
07:57the media was controlling everything back then...
07:59and...
08:00now today, with social media, I'm actually able to hear what...
08:03the fans and people really think.
08:05so...
08:06And you can control your own narrative...
08:07and have your own voice.
08:08Yes, exactly.
08:09Well, I was a part of that media...
08:10you were at the time...
08:11I don't think I was mean to you...
08:12but I'd like to apologise...
08:13and...
08:14but...
08:15have you got any questions...
08:15for me about, like, at that time...
08:17covering the media and how unfair it was?
08:19Like...
08:20for you, I'm sure, just being in...
08:22the newsroom...
08:23Yeah.
08:24like...
08:25were you ever...
08:25pressured for them...
08:26to try...
08:27to make you...
08:28do or say things that you felt...
08:29like...
08:30uncomfortable asking?
08:31like...
08:32you felt like it was...
08:33going too far sometimes?
08:34I think there were times when there were...
08:35stories...
08:36where...
08:37I look back...
08:38and I'm like...
08:39why...
08:40did...
08:41they take that...
08:42direction...
08:43and it questions...
08:44I think...
08:45I believe media reflects society...
08:47and society was meaner back then...
08:49and that's...
08:50what people wanted...
08:51now people don't...
08:52want that...
08:53there's different meaner elements...
08:54on social media...
08:55but I think it's an...
08:56interesting question...
08:57or I think...
08:58there are certainly things...
08:59I regret being involved in.
09:00back at the time...
09:01and...
09:02I think the media has done better...
09:03in recent years...
09:04and I hope you find that...
09:05as well...
09:06definitely...
09:07I know that...
09:08so many of the things...
09:09you know...
09:10the way that...
09:10myself and other girls...
09:11were treated back then...
09:12would not happen today...
09:13it would not be accepted...
09:14so at least it's...
09:15changed for other people...
09:16so I think that's...
09:17like the silver lining...
09:18you had to go for...
09:19a lot of pain...
09:20to get there...
09:21a big theme from the documentary...
09:22of music saving your life...
09:23tell me...
09:24how that worked for you...
09:25just...
09:27you know...
09:28just from going through...
09:29so many traumatic experiences...
09:30as a teenager...
09:32and...
09:33you know...
09:34it was just so...
09:35painful...
09:36and traumatizing...
09:37and...
09:38when I got out...
09:39of those boarding schools...
09:40I just remember...
09:41like when I would...
09:42go out at night...
09:43it was like...
09:44the one thing...
09:45that I would just...
09:45forget about...
09:46all the pain...
09:47and just like...
09:48lose myself in the music...
09:49and have so much fun...
09:50and I just...
09:50felt...
09:51like this whole community...
09:52or I just felt...
09:53so accepted...
09:54and...
09:55no one was...
09:56judgmental...
09:55it was just...
09:56all about having...
09:57an incredible time...
09:58and...
09:59just...
10:00I don't know...
10:01I just...
10:02I love music...
10:03I love to dance...
10:04I love the lights...
10:05I love...
10:06the people...
10:05the escapism...
10:06yeah...
10:07you've been through...
10:08so much...
10:09and you touched...
10:10on some of it there...
10:10what has been...
10:11the hardest thing...
10:12to recover from...
10:13you've dealt with...
10:14sexual abuse...
10:15as a kid...
10:15so...
10:16the sex tape...
10:17the media treatment...
10:18what was the...
10:19what's...
10:20been the hardest...
10:20thing to heal from...
10:21do you think?
10:22hmm...
10:23all of it...
10:24you know...
10:25I think...
10:25these are things...
10:26that will...
10:27definitely affect me...
10:28for the rest of my life...
10:29but...
10:30especially...
10:30being...
10:31in these schools...
10:32which...
10:33my parents were told...
10:34it was called...
10:35a...
10:35emotional growth...
10:36boarding schools...
10:37and...
10:38they were sold...
10:39a lie...
10:40these places...
10:41are so many...
10:40manipulative...
10:41and...
10:42their marketing tactics...
10:43everything...
10:44they had brochures...
10:45where kids were...
10:45smiling...
10:46and...
10:47there was like...
10:48rainbows...
10:49and people were...
10:50riding horses...
10:51and everyone...
10:52looked so happy...
10:53in that situation...
10:54and...
10:55it was terrifying...
10:56just to be around...
10:57these adults...
10:58who...
10:58were literally...
10:59abusing...
11:00all of us...
11:01in so many ways...
11:02and...
11:03it's just...
11:04it took...
11:05many years...
11:06for me...
11:07to even talk about it...
11:08it was so...
11:08traumatizing...
11:09where it took me...
11:10you know...
11:1120 years...
11:12to even tell anyone...
11:13why do you think...
11:14there was...
11:15a shame...
11:16attached to it...
11:17definitely...
11:18and I think that's...
11:18the way they get away...
11:19with it...
11:20where they shame...
11:21the kids in these places...
11:22so much...
11:23where they're...
11:23we...
11:24were just too...
11:25embarrassed...
11:26and scared...
11:27to talk about it...
11:28and it was just...
11:28so...
11:29the things that happened...
11:30were just so like...
11:31crazy...
11:32it just...
11:33it...
11:33you wouldn't feel like...
11:34anyone would believe you...
11:35or...
11:36and...
11:37you kind of...
11:38go into...
11:38being told you're a bad kid...
11:39this is why you're here...
11:40yeah...
11:41and it just...
11:42it was just...
11:43it's horrible...
11:44what they do in these places...
11:45and plus...
11:46they get away with it...
11:47because they can...
11:48say to the parents...
11:48oh...
11:49they're...
11:50they're bad kids...
11:51they're lying...
11:52they're manipulating...
11:53they're trying to...
11:54you know...
11:55go home...
11:53so they're gonna say...
11:54that we're abusing them...
11:55they're gonna say this...
11:56they kind of tell the parents...
11:57what they're actually doing...
11:58they're lying...
11:59they're lying...
12:00and of course...
12:01if you're sending your child...
12:02to a place...
12:03and you think...
12:03they're gonna be protected...
12:04and you have no idea...
12:05the type of people...
12:06that work at these places...
12:08it's...
12:09you know...
12:10a recipe for disaster...
12:11I mean...
12:12I read some of...
12:13in your memoir...
12:13that...
12:14you're encouraged...
12:15to verbally abuse...
12:16each other...
12:17and then hug each other...
12:18afterwards...
12:18to untangle...
12:19mental abuse like that...
12:20it's...
12:21it just...
12:22I don't understand it...
12:23it blows my mind...
12:24how they think...
12:25that that's therapy...
12:26and when you go...
12:27into a place...
12:28and you...
12:28come out...
12:29more traumatized...
12:30than when you went in...
12:31Did it make you scared...
12:32of therapy...
12:33after that?
12:34Yeah...
12:33I've never had therapy...
12:34You've never had...
12:35therapy after that...
12:36because...
12:37it made me not...
12:38trust anyone...
12:38especially...
12:39people...
12:40like therapists...
12:41because I just thought...
12:42they were all...
12:43those type of people...
12:43and...
12:44um...
12:45it was just...
12:46a neat...
12:47that being a mom...
12:48it just makes me...
12:49even more...
12:50just...
12:51upset...
12:52and that's why...
12:53I just want to...
12:54continue...
12:55fighting...
12:56and using...
12:57leave them...
12:58in so many years...
12:59until...
13:00I've told my story...
13:01and now...
13:02it's started...
13:03an entire movement...
13:04it's been so difficult...
13:05especially for my mom...
13:06and dad to hear...
13:07about these things...
13:08because they had...
13:09no idea...
13:10the forgiveness...
13:11like even though...
13:12they were tricked...
13:13the forgiveness...
13:14process for you...
13:15with that...
13:14it must have been...
13:15so difficult...
13:16because I knew...
13:17that they had no idea...
13:18because that's...
13:19none of the parents...
13:20knew that this was happening...
13:21and...
13:22um...
13:23it's been...
13:24yeah...
13:25it's been like...
13:26a whole...
13:27my mom has just been...
13:28so...
13:29sad...
13:30just to hear...
13:31what has happened...
13:32and she's been...
13:33coming with me...
13:34to DC...
13:34to help speak...
13:35with the other parents...
13:36and...
13:37to let them know...
13:38her story as well...
13:39because it's important...
13:39for other families to know...
13:40because I feel like...
13:41the parents are just as much...
13:42the victims in this...
13:43well thank...
13:44thank you for using...
13:45your voice for good...
13:46thank you...
13:47it's been...

14:08you should be...
14:09proud...
14:09so...
14:10instead of...
14:11traditional therapy...
14:12music's been something...
14:13that really has helped...
14:14to escape...
14:14and to disassociate...
14:15with a lot of the pain...
14:16and the healing...
14:17what...
14:18what...
14:19do you think...
14:19would have happened...
14:20if you didn't have music...
14:21to help you?
14:22I don't know...
14:23I think...
14:24out of thinking...

14:34I've just seen...
14:34like the power...
14:35in music...
14:36and...
14:37even the power...
14:38in listening to a lyric...
14:39and a song...
14:39like something...
14:40that could change your mood...
14:41or even change your life...
14:42and...
14:43just so many...
14:44of my fans...
14:45have come up to me...
14:46and said...
14:47thank you so much...
14:48for your album...
14:49it saved my life...
14:49like...
14:50thank you for your memoir...
14:51you have no idea...
14:52how much it means to me...
14:53so just to see...
14:54like the impact...
14:55it could make...
14:56on someone's life...
14:57and...
14:58I love that I'm able now...
14:59to have these...
14:59concerts...
15:00and create these...
15:01safe spaces...
15:02where my fans can come...
15:03and...
15:04dress up...
15:05however they want to...

15:09in my music...
15:09and have the most...
15:10incredible night...
15:11and forget about...
15:12anything bad...
15:13that's happening...
15:14in their life...
15:14what's...
15:15what's the darkest moment...
15:16you've been through...
15:17was it in...
15:18Provo?
15:19yes...
15:20just the...
15:21things that happened...
15:22to those places...
15:23should never happen to it...
15:24anyone...
15:25and especially...
15:26not a child...
15:27and...
15:28just...
15:29being terrified...
15:30every single day...
15:31of like...
15:32what was gonna happen next...
15:33and then having...
15:34severe nightmares about it...
15:36for...
15:37you know...
15:3820 years...
15:39until I started talking...
15:39telling my story...
15:40Were there moments...
15:41where you didn't want...
15:42to be here anymore?
15:43What...
15:44when I was in there...
15:45I was...
15:46it felt...
15:47everyone I felt...
15:48felt that way...
15:49like...
15:50you just...
15:49was like...
15:50it would be better...
15:51not to live...
15:52than being in these...
15:53type of places...
15:54um...
15:56but...
15:57it did make me really strong...
15:58where...
15:59it almost...
15:59prepared me...
16:00for Hollywood...
16:01in a sense...
16:02because I don't know...
16:03if I could have...
16:04survived the two...
16:042000s...
16:05and the way...
16:06I was treated...
16:07unless I had already...
16:08been through...
16:09such hell before...
16:09documentary...
16:10there was a line...
16:11that really stuck with me...
16:12where you said...
16:13life doesn't stop...
16:14life doesn't stop...
16:15with the drama...
16:16so neither should you...
16:17and I found it...
16:18really interesting...
16:19and something...
16:20I've tried to embrace...
16:21like...
16:22life is crazy...
16:23and bad things...
16:24are always gonna happen...
16:25and you've just...
16:24got to...
16:25power through...
16:26and we see that...
16:27in the documentary...
16:28when the fire...
16:29happens in the trailer...
16:29and you're...
16:30you've just...
16:31got to keep going...
16:32it's a pivotal moment...
16:33in the production...
16:34of the...
16:34at all...
16:35how do you...
16:36manage to carry on...
16:37when bad things happen...
16:38and...
16:39you're somebody who...
16:39things have happened...
16:40constantly...
16:41and you...
16:42are always smiling...
16:43you're always positive...
16:44from going...
16:44through so much...
16:45in my life...
16:46it's made me...
16:47so strong...
16:48and resilient...
16:49where...
16:50I can make it...
16:49through anything...
16:50so no matter what...

18:28and hard...
18:29I try to think about...
18:30all the beautiful things...
18:31that come with it...
18:32and...
18:32and I really see...
18:33fame...
18:34as like...
18:35a superpower...
18:36to make people happy...
18:37so...
18:37I love that...
18:38I'm able to just...
18:39make people's days...
18:40by like...
18:41taking up a...

18:43or spending time with them...
18:44or just...
18:45anything...
18:46smiling...

18:56in other people's lives...
18:57so...
18:58even though...
18:59it has been...
19:00very traumatizing...
19:01at times...
19:02it's worth it...
19:03I like that...
19:04I love that...
19:05you're using your fame...
19:06and your platform...
19:07to do good in the world...
19:07how...
19:08how about money...
19:09how...
19:10do you think money...
19:11brings you happiness?
19:12It does...
19:12because I have worked...
19:13so hard...
19:14and...
19:15success is something...
19:16that is always...
19:17really...
19:18been a driving force...
19:19for me...
19:20and...
19:21I feel very lucky...
19:22just to...
19:22grow up in my family...
19:23and have incredible...

19:26and my parents...
19:27and...
19:28I always have...
19:29loved to make them...
19:30proud...
19:31and...
19:32I love that...
19:33I've created this...
19:34entire brand...
19:35and empire...
19:36and now...
19:371111...
19:37my media company...
19:38so...
19:39it...
19:40makes me happy...
19:41because I'm able...
19:42just to...
19:42feel...
19:43that happiness...
19:44and I think that...
19:45also...
19:46just from going...
19:47to those schools...
19:47and being so...
19:48controlled...
19:49that I made a promise...
19:50to myself...
19:51that I was gonna work...
19:52so hard...
19:52become so successful...
19:53that...
19:54no one could ever...
19:55control me...
19:56or tell me...
19:57what to do again...
19:58so...
19:57I really see it...
19:58as...
19:59freedom...
20:00so you used...
20:01the pain...
20:02that you went through...
20:02restrictions...
20:03and the abuse...
20:04to...
20:05drive your...
20:06your...
20:07ambition...
20:08yes...
20:09what...
20:10do you say...
20:11to people...
20:12who say...
20:13you've had it...
20:12easy...
20:13because...
20:14because you came...
20:15from money...
20:16I could totally...
20:17understand...
20:18people saying that...
20:17because of course...
20:18I'm very...
20:19privileged...
20:20that I'm...
20:21you know...
20:22came from a family...
20:22where I've been...
20:23able to...
20:24learn so much...
20:25from such...
20:26incredible...
20:27business...
20:27men...
20:28and women...
20:29and...
20:30just...
20:31you know...
20:32coming from...
20:33my last name...
20:32as well...
20:33so...
20:34but I've seen a lot...
20:35of other people...
20:36who come from...
20:37you know...
20:37prestigious families...
20:38and...
20:39a lot of them...
20:40don't do anything...
20:41like...
20:42a lot of people...
20:43I know...
20:44like...
20:45they just get like...
20:46an allowance...
20:47from their parents...
20:48still...
20:49they've never...
20:50worked a day...
20:51in their life...
20:52because they...
20:53are just...
20:54handed everything...
20:55and...
20:56they've never...
20:57had to work...
20:58for any of it...
20:57so...
20:58yes...
20:59I can understand people...
21:00they don't know...
21:01and don't see...
21:02how much work...
21:02has went into...
21:03everything that I do...
21:04and...
21:05just how...
21:06what I've created...
21:07and what I've built...
21:07and...
21:08you know...
21:09what I've...
21:10been through...
21:11on top of all that...
21:12um...
21:13so...
21:13I think if...
21:14people know me...
21:15they understand...
21:16but then...
21:17if there's like...
21:18an outsider...
21:19who just...
21:20you know...
21:21sees...
21:22you know...
21:23you know...
21:24you know...
21:25I mean...
21:26I mean...
21:27I...
21:29I mean...
21:31I mean...
21:33I mean...
21:35you know...
21:36I mean...
21:37And...
21:38I mean...
21:40it's...
21:41I didn't get money from my parents,
21:42there was no trust fund, nothing like that.
21:44I've been working since I was.
21:4616.
21:47And so they didn't help with the deposit for a house
21:49or anything like that?
21:50No, I did everything on my own.
21:51So that's really not fair that people,
21:53like, criticize you for being...
21:56not believing that you're self-made,
21:57because there's a New York Post thing saying,
21:59fans are reacting, saying she's delusional.
22:01Thinking she's self-made.
22:02If they actually knew everything and saw everything they...
22:06they would understand.
22:07That's really interesting, so congratulations.
22:10How were you...
22:11to handle that balance with your own kids?
22:13Because obviously you've been incredibly successful.
22:16How will you create the balance of trying to work out how much to...
22:21support to give them?
22:22I think it's, you know, just from growing up in this way...
22:26and seeing so many others, I think if you spoil your children,
22:29you will destroy them.
22:31So that's something that my husband and I talk about,
22:33where we of course want to give them the most beautiful life, make them...
22:36so happy, but we also want to instill that work ethic in them and make them want.
22:41to do something with their own lives.
22:43And I think with my babies growing up and seeing just how...
22:46hard I work and everything I accomplish, it's going to be really inspirational to them.
22:50And...
22:51that's why I've built so much at the house, where I have like my...
22:54recording studio here, the podcasting studio...
22:56the photo studio, just like so much of my work I'm able to do from home.
23:01And my kids are always there watching everything.
23:03So I feel like that will be instilled in them.
23:06Just like, anytime I'm in a meeting here, like they're sitting on my lap.
23:09So like, I feel like even though they're babies...
23:11they're soaking it in and they'll continue to do so throughout their life.
23:15So...
23:16yeah, I think for my kids, I just want them to be so happy and be incredible human beings.
23:21And I want them to do whatever makes them happy.
23:24You've talked a lot about reclaiming your narrative.
23:26What's one misconception about Paris Hilton that you're still trying to correct?
23:31I feel like I've been such an open book in the past five years where I've discussed everything.
23:36So I don't really think there's any anymore.
23:39That's great.
23:40I feel like I've cleared up some...
23:41so many misconceptions.
23:42I feel like before they just thought I was a dumb blonde.
23:46because of the simple life.
23:47But I've proved that I am not a dumb blonde.
23:50I'm just very good at...
23:51I feel like I'm pretending to be on.
23:52Well, that comes on to my next question, actually.
23:56I loved in the movie when you're doing a recording and somebody says...
24:01you can use your real voice on this one.
24:03And it reminded me, I was on your BFF show with...
24:06you back in the day and we would record and you'd have this baby voice saying,
24:09that's hot.
24:10And then we'd go off...
24:11often you'll be with Benji talking about beats in this voice so low.
24:15And I would just be like...
24:16she's two different people.
24:17And so...
24:18like...
24:19you pretended to be somebody.
24:22was that...
24:23where did that come from?
24:24was that protectionism protecting your...
24:26yourself by being a caricature or was that strategically to play a part?
24:31and earn money?
24:32I think...
24:33you know, I didn't even realize until...
24:35You still do it.
24:36Was it high or low then?
24:37That was low then.
24:38See, I literally can't even control it.
24:40I think it's just such...
24:41a part of me now because I've been doing it for so long.
24:44Um...
24:45but I do think it was a trauma...
24:46in response to what I went through.
24:48Um...
24:49where I just kind of wanted to build this perfect...
24:51like a Barbie doll life...
24:53and...
24:54like a Disney...
24:55kind of...
24:56I don't know...
24:57Barbie character...
24:58and then...
24:59um...
25:00you know...
25:01getting the simple life...
25:01and then the producer is telling me...
25:03you know...
25:04we want you to play this kind of blonde...
25:06spoiled airhead...
25:07and play into this character...
25:08and this was the first reality show.
25:11and I had no idea...
25:12I'd have to continue on that character...
25:14for five seasons straight...
25:15and then...
25:16every talk show...
25:17and everything I would go on...
25:18I would be the character...
25:19and then I just kind of got...
25:20stuck in it almost...
25:21because the whole world thought...
25:23that's who I really was...
25:24and I'm all...
25:25I'm also a very...
25:26naturally shy person...
25:27so I feel like...
25:28being the character...
25:29it made it...
25:30easier for me...
25:31to kind of...
25:32be silly...
25:33and say...
25:34say ridiculous things...
25:35I don't...
25:35I feel like...
25:36if the simple life...
25:37had me talking...
25:38in my normal voice...
25:39and not playing the character...
25:40it would not...
25:40have been the show...
25:41that it was...
25:42I can see that...
25:43I know Nikki...
25:44your sister...
25:45and she's shy...
25:45too...
25:46and that shyness...
25:47comes across...
25:48with both of you...
25:49and it's an understanding...
25:50that like...
25:51you're playing a part...
25:52to get through...
25:53social anxiety...
25:54sometimes I'll do that...
25:55like...
25:56I've got to be down...
25:57wait for tonight...
25:58so like...
25:59how do you deal with...
26:00social...
26:00anxiety now?
26:01I still have...
26:02social anxiety...
26:03and I think...
26:04that might be the...
26:05ADHD as well...
26:06because I'm just...
26:07so in my head...
26:08all the time...
26:09and...
26:10I get just...
26:10I think also...
26:11since the pandemic...
26:12like...
26:13I've gotten just like...
26:14way more anxiety...
26:15than I used to...
26:15so...
26:16um...
26:17but then if I'm around...
26:18like...
26:19if I bring like...
26:20a best friend...
26:20I feel like...
26:21I'm with like...
26:22a group of people...
26:23I trust...
26:24then I feel...
26:25more comfortable...
26:26but if I'm just like...
26:27going...
26:25in somewhere...
26:26and not knowing...
26:27anyone...
26:28sometimes I get...
26:29a little nervous...
26:30I think...
26:30that's normal...
26:31I feel like...
26:32everyone...
26:33I mean...
26:34it's just like...
26:35us...
26:36it's just like...
26:37regular folks...
26:38everybody...
26:39deals with...
26:40mental health issues...
26:41nervous...
26:42going into...
26:43going into an event...
26:44Yeah...
26:45I think people...
26:46would definitely...
26:47be surprised...
26:46know that...
26:47What's your...
26:48relationship...
26:49with the character...
26:50of Paris Hilton...
26:51these days?
26:51well...
26:52I think...
26:53before I saw...
26:54it was like...
26:55a form of protection...
26:56and now I see...
26:56it as...
26:57like...
26:58my... just...
26:59fun...
27:00silly side...
27:01like...
27:02you know...
27:01there's...
27:02a time and place...
27:03for everything...
27:04and like...
27:05when I'm doing TikToks...
27:06or just like...
27:07doing certain content...
27:06or...
27:07you know...
27:08like...
27:09different campaigns...
27:10with brands...
27:11and they want me...
27:12to play the character...
27:13like...
27:14I...
27:15and then...
27:16obviously...
27:17when I go to DC...
27:18and I'm speaking...
27:19on Capitol Hill...
27:20and talking about...
27:20serious subjects...
27:21that's when you see...
27:22like...
27:23the real side of me...
27:24um...
27:25but yeah...
27:26just like...
27:27I can do it...
27:28back and forth...
27:29We can all have...
27:30silly sides...
27:30so...
27:31it's fun...
27:32I think a lot of artists...
27:33and people do...
27:34like...
27:35they...
27:35a lot of people...
27:36I've spoken to...
27:37like...
27:38actors...
27:39Beyonce...
27:40Sasha Fierce...
27:41J Lo...
27:42Jennifer Lopez...
27:43and we're at home, you know, chilling in our sweats
27:45and just like laid back and just like.
27:48So you are just like us.
27:49You're playing the part of an entitled heiress,
27:51but now 20 years old.
27:5320 years have passed.
27:54I have to ask you the question.
27:56Was the warm up question set up?
27:58Did you really not know what a warm up was at the time?
28:03I did.
28:04You did that.
28:05I did.
28:06You did.
28:07I just thought it would be a funny line.
28:08And you came up with a line.
28:09I just, yeah.
28:10It wasn't like I thought about it in advance
28:12because I didn't even know.
28:13We were going to talk about Walmart.
28:14Yeah.
28:15But when it came up, I was like, in my mind, I was like,
28:17this will be funny.
28:18I had no idea it would be such an iconic line
28:20that people to this day still say.
28:23And now I have like my entire kitchenware and homeware and.
28:27Yeah.
28:28All of the fragrances were in Walmart.
28:29All of it.
28:30Yeah.
28:31So.
28:32When was the last time you were in Walmart?
28:33I was there.
28:33I was there two weeks ago in Arkansas, actually.
28:36I go there all the time to.
28:38go meet with the whole team out there.
28:39And I was showing them all the new products from my new line
28:42for Paris and Pup.
28:43And my new homeware line and kitchenware line and storage line and.
28:48all of it.
28:49Wow.
28:50I have like over 400 SKUs of products inside of Walmart.
28:53So now I know they don't sell walls.
28:55They sell Paris Hilton products.
28:56You're just a.
28:57You're just a.
28:58A comedy icon.
28:59Moving on to something a bit more difficult, the sex tape.
29:03It's really heartbreaking looking back on the doc in the documentary.
29:06And you talk about it.
29:07That.
29:08You had no agency about this.
29:10Besides Pamela Anderson, you were the first.
29:13celebrity to go through this publicly and internet was different.
29:18And copyright was different.
29:19It was a wild, wild west.
29:20And now it would be impossible to happen.
29:23Like.
29:24Was there no way of stopping it coming out?
29:26How was that time?
29:28It was just.
29:29Humiliating.
29:30So pain.
29:31It was just.
29:32Humiliating.
29:33So pain.
29:33Painful.
29:34I did not want to leave my house.
29:35I was just.
29:36It was just.
29:38You know.
29:39Just trust somebody.
29:40And have them.
29:41Violate me like that.
29:43Was.
29:43It was just.
29:44The most horrible thing that you could do to a person.
29:47And.
29:48And.
29:49There was nothing that I could do about it.
29:51And.
29:52Yeah.
29:53That.
29:53That's.
29:54Something that will haunt me the rest of my life.
29:56And.
29:57If that happened today.
29:58It would be illegal.
29:59Um.
30:00So.
30:01I mean.
30:02I.
30:03I think.
30:04Like another thing I went through.
30:05That now.
30:06It would be illegal for people today.
30:07So I think that.
30:08Again.
30:09Is.
30:08The good part.
30:09That other girls.
30:10Don't have to go through that.
30:11But.
30:12Um.
30:13Yeah.
30:13That was.
30:14Um.
30:15I mean.
30:16When you frame it.
30:17That this was a young girl.
30:18Who didn't.
30:18Who.
30:19Was coerced to do this.
30:20And then was publicly humiliated.
30:21And then flogged for it.
30:23But afterwards.
30:24It.
30:25Like.
30:26It.
30:27It really wasn't.
30:28Really wasn't fair.
30:28I'm not going to mention the name.
30:29Of the guy.
30:30Because.
30:31You cleverly.
30:32Didn't do that in the doc.
30:33Have you ever spoken to that ex again?
30:35No.
30:36Would you ever have a conversation with him?
30:38No.
30:39Um.
30:40Have you thought about.
30:41When your kids find out.
30:42About.
30:43The sex.
30:43The sex tape.
30:44And how you'll approach it with them?
30:45Uh.
30:46That's going to be a really.
30:48Just.
30:49Painful.
30:50Subject to talk about.
30:51Like.
30:52I don't even know.
30:53Like.
30:54I haven't even thought about.
30:55What I'm going to say.
30:56Since they're only.
30:57Two years old.
30:58Right now.
30:58Um.
30:59But.
31:02Hopefully by talking.
31:03To them.
31:04They'll.
31:05Never have something like that.
31:06Happen to them.
31:07Or they'll be taken advantage of.
31:08So it's just.
31:10Horrible.
31:11And now.
31:12Just being.
31:13Along again.
31:14Just thinking about that.
31:15Just makes me even.
31:16Sadder for me.
31:17That I had to go through.
31:18All that.
31:19And so publicly.
31:20And have people vilify.
31:21Me for it.
31:22When I was just a 19 year old.
31:23Kid basically.
31:24Yeah.
31:25The media.
31:26Were just.
31:27Brutal.
31:28For.
31:28The news media.
31:29Particularly.
31:30The expert.
31:31In the documentary.
31:32Said.
31:33You're targeted.
31:34Because of your.
31:33Intelligence.
31:34To play the game.
31:35Effectively.
31:36We kind of played.
31:37The game together.
31:38Similar to Princess Diana.
31:39You were.
31:38Worked with the press.
31:39At times.
31:40Welcomed them into your life.
31:41Posed for the paparazzi.
31:42Do you think.
31:43You paid.
31:44The price for that.
31:45By welcoming the media.
31:46I didn't think.
31:47That was fair at all.
31:48I was always.
31:49Respectful.
31:50And kind.
31:51And I knew that people.
31:52Were just trying.
31:53To do their job.
31:54So I would.
31:55Always be nice.
31:56To everyone.
31:57I never.
31:58Was one of those celebrities.
31:59That would.
32:00You know.
32:01Tell them off.
32:02Or.
32:03Or go off on them.
32:04Like I've seen.
32:03And some people do.
32:04So I just thought.
32:05It was.
32:06Really unfair.
32:07The way that they did that.
32:08I'm going to read.
32:09Some of the headlines.
32:10From the documentary.
32:11And just ask you.
32:12Like how.
32:13Did they make you feel.
32:14Back then.
32:15Like the idea.
32:16That.
32:17That this was a description.
32:18Of a young woman.
32:19In her early twenties.
32:20Paris Hilton.
32:21What's the point.
32:22Famous for nothing.
32:23Bimbo.
32:23No Brains.
32:24All Fame.
32:25A new low.
32:26For celebrity culture.
32:27Like you're.
32:28Human.
32:29Just like the rest of us.
32:30How.
32:31Did that feel.
32:32At the time.
32:33It was.
32:34Really hurt.
32:33Purple.
32:34You know.
32:35I was just a young girl.
32:36Just.
32:37Living my life.
32:38But I had the whole.
32:38World watching.
32:39And judging.
32:40And picking.
32:41Everything apart.
32:42And just.
32:43It felt like.
32:44No matter.
32:45What I did.
32:46Or what I accomplished.
32:47People.
32:48Just.
32:49Refused to.
32:50I don't know.
32:51Just see.
32:53Me as like.
32:54A human being.
32:55It was just like.
32:56A cartoon character.
32:57Or like.
32:58A punch.
32:58A line.
32:59That they.
33:00Just make fun of.
33:01And.
33:02It just always hurt.
33:03My feelings.
33:04I've always.
33:03Been such a sensitive.
33:04Person as well.
33:05And then.
33:06On top of it.
33:07When.
33:08Having.
33:08A PhD.
33:09We.
33:10Experience.
33:11Emotions.
33:12Like.
33:1310 times more.
33:13Than a neurotypical.
33:14Person.
33:15And.
33:16Especially.
33:17There's.
33:18Something called.
33:19RSD.
33:20Which is.
33:21Rejection sensitive dysphoria.
33:22Which.
33:2399.
33:23Of people.
33:24With ADHD.
33:25Experience.
33:26So.
33:27To have.
33:28Things like.
33:29Said like.
33:30That.
33:31Is.
33:32Just.
33:33Physically painful.
33:34Like.
33:35It's like.
33:36Being stabbed in the heart.
33:37Like.
33:38It's just.
33:38I would cry.
33:39So much.
33:40All the time.
33:41Just like.
33:42Constantly hearing.
33:43Things and.
33:43People.
33:44Making up lies.
33:45And stories.
33:46It was just.
33:47A nightmare.
33:48What would you.
33:48Say.
33:49To the people.
33:50Who wrote.
33:51Those headlines now.
33:52Say.
33:53Look at me now.
33:53How many.
33:54I've always loved.
33:55Proving people wrong.
33:56So many.
33:57I've.
33:58So much of my career.
33:59I've been underestimated.
34:00And misunderstood.
34:01So now.
34:02Today.
34:03Just.
34:03To see.
34:04My life.
34:05And everything.
34:06That I've accomplished.
34:07And.
34:08My.
34:08Beautiful family.
34:09And.
34:10Just everything.
34:11That I've done.
34:12And now.
34:13I've had.
34:13So many people.
34:14Come up.
34:15And apologize.
34:16To me.
34:17So many reporters.
34:18Just.
34:18People.
34:19On the street.
34:20Have said that.
34:21If I'm doing an interview.
34:22Just so many people.
34:23Have said.
34:24I'm so sorry.
34:23For the way.
34:24That myself.
34:25And others treated you.
34:26Because you did not deserve that.
34:27So it feels.
34:28It's very healing.
34:29To hear that from people.
34:30To realize.
34:31That they know it was wrong.
34:32What advice.
34:33Would you give.
34:34To the.
34:35To the young girl.
34:36Who's going through that now.
34:38Hmm.
34:39My advice.
34:40Would be.
34:41That.
34:43You shouldn't listen.
34:44To people like that.
34:45That.
34:46What matters most.
34:47Is what you think.
34:48Of yourself.
34:49So don't let that.
34:50Outside noise.
34:51Affect how you feel.
34:52About yourself.
34:53About yourself.
34:54Because.
34:55A lot of people.
34:56Can be mean.
34:57Especially.
34:58You know.
34:59Now with the internet.
35:00And you know.
35:01People are able to hide.
35:02Behind a computer.
35:03And.
35:04It's a different.
35:05Form of meanness.
35:06Now.
35:07It's different.
35:08I feel like the media.
35:09It wasn't like that.
35:08But then there's like the.
35:09Internet trolls.
35:10Who are just like.
35:11These people living in like.
35:12That are.
35:13Parents basement.
35:14Like miserable.
35:15With no life.
35:16And like.
35:17Just sit on the computer.
35:18All day.
35:19Just write.
35:18Getting rude things.
35:19To people.
35:20Like I just.
35:21Would tell them.
35:22Like I would feel bad.
35:23For this.
35:23These people.
35:24That they.
35:25Are that miserable.
35:26That they need to go.
35:27And try to.
35:28Tear you down.
35:29And don't let it affect you.
35:30In the movie.
35:31I found it really interesting.
35:32You talk.
35:33Talking about your ADHD.
35:34And thank you.
35:35I think.
35:36Like I believe.
35:37With mental health challenges.
35:38It's so important.
35:38You talk about them.
35:39And normalize them.
35:40And destigmatize them.
35:41And make people feel less alone.
35:42And.
35:43That you've been a leading.
35:44Person with ADHD.
35:45To do that.
35:46And the quote.
35:47That really hit me.
35:48From the documentary.
35:48Was.
35:49I have all the success.
35:50But I wish I could be.
35:51As happy as someone.
35:52Without the ADHD.
35:53Demon voice.
35:54Who had had all these things.
35:56Still have.
35:57Would have had all these things.
35:58So.
35:59How.
36:00Do you still feel like that?
36:01Um.
36:02It's.
36:03It's gotten.
36:03Much better.
36:04Like now.
36:05That I've.
36:06Really.
36:07Studied.
36:08And researched.
36:08And know so much.
36:09About my ADHD.
36:10But.
36:11Growing up.
36:12No one was talking about it.
36:13Especially with.
36:14Young girls.
36:15So.
36:16I had no idea.
36:17Like.
36:18Being.
36:18Being in school.
36:19And constantly.
36:20Getting in trouble.
36:21All the time.
36:22Like.
36:23Not able to focus.
36:23Like.
36:24Always in detention.
36:25Always failing.
36:26Like all the tests.
36:27Because I couldn't.
36:28Remember anything.
36:28Or like.
36:29Losing my homework.
36:30Just like so many things.
36:31Would happen.
36:32And.
36:33You know.
36:34People with ADHD.
36:33Would just be called.
36:34Like.
36:35Bad kids.
36:36And I think that's.
36:37You know.
36:38One of the reasons.
36:39I got.
36:40Sent away to the.
36:38These schools.
36:39Is because of it.
36:40Because I just.
36:41Was not able to.
36:42Focus in school.
36:43Or anything.
36:43No matter.
36:44How hard I tried.
36:45Um.
36:46And then.
36:47Now.
36:48Knowing.
36:49That.
36:50The voices.
36:51From that.
36:52That are negative.
36:53Self.
36:53Talk.
36:54Are not true.
36:55Like.
36:56That is always.
36:57A good thing.
36:58So anytime.
36:59I do.
36:58Have that happening.
36:59I'll just.
37:00Immediately say.
37:01That's not you.
37:02That's just your ADHD.
37:03So that's.
37:04How you manage.
37:03That's really.
37:04I really love.
37:05Sharing the solutions.
37:06That's how you.
37:07I talked to.
37:08I mean.
37:08An amazing doctor.
37:09Named Dr. Hallowell.
37:10Who is like.
37:11One of the leading.
37:12ADHD psychiatrists.
37:13And.
37:14He has it as well.
37:15And he.
37:16Calls it.
37:17The demon.
37:18It's called.
37:19DMN.
37:20Which is like.
37:21The default.
37:22Mode network.
37:23With the real.
37:23Termporters.
37:24In the documentary.
37:25You call it.
37:26The demon.
37:27I found it fascinating.
37:28The idea.
37:28Does it mean.
37:29Things.
37:30Say.
37:31Being said.
37:32About you.
37:33And the press.
37:34But it's worse.
37:35In your head.
37:36Yeah.
37:37Yeah.
37:38Yeah.
37:39Yeah.
37:40Yeah.
37:41Yeah.
37:42Yeah.
37:43Yeah.
37:44Yeah.
37:45Yeah.
37:46Yeah.
37:47Yeah.
37:48Yeah.
37:49Yeah.
37:50Yeah.
37:51Yeah.
37:52Yeah.
37:53Yeah.
37:54Yeah.
37:55Yeah.
37:56Yeah.
37:57It was a so traumatizing back then.
37:59So I'm so.
38:00Like grateful.
38:02Now to have healed.
38:03From that.
38:04And now I'm able to tell my story to others.
38:06Because I know there's so many.
38:07Other.
38:08You know kids.
38:09Who have ADHD.
38:10Who I'm sure are going through the same thing.
38:12Right now.
38:13And.
38:14Just to.
38:15Tell them and let them know that.
38:16This is.
38:17Something that we all experience.
38:18And that those things are not true.
38:20And to be strong.
38:22And to lean on in on it as your superpower.
38:25Because I wouldn't be the woman I am today.
38:27Without it as well.
38:28I wouldn't be the entrepreneur I am.
38:30I wouldn't be the creative I am.
38:31I wouldn't have these.
38:32So many different businesses.
38:33Without the ADHD.
38:35So I want to.
38:37others that this can be a superpower and you can just lean in to what you
38:42love they say that we can't focus but that's not true we can hyper focus
38:47like no other we just can't focus on things that are boring but the things that like
38:52us up we will focus like a superhero that's really interesting it's just all about
38:57the brains of work differently and so the fact you're talking about it and normalizing this and
39:01showing
39:02it's actually a positive not a negative is is a great example for society so thank you
39:07i've had so many families kids people come up to me and say thank you so much
39:12for writing your song adhd like my child used to be so ashamed of it but now
39:17that's their anthem and they're singing it every morning and telling everyone adhd is my
39:22superpower so i love how i'm able to reframe it especially for these young kids growing up
39:27with it because i know that a lot of them are struggling and back in the noughties you felt you
39:31couldn't
39:32admit to having any any weaknesses and now it's different opening up with your
39:37vulnerabilities is your superpower yes for sure growing up in the 2000s
39:42like no one was even saying the word mental health like if you heard that they'd be like what like mental
39:47hospital like they wouldn't understand that i'm a big believer and i've done a lot of work in the mental
39:51hospital
39:51hospital like they wouldn't understand that i'm a big believer and i've done a lot of work in the mental health
39:52hospital space that like everybody has got somebody in the family who's going through something scratched beneath the surface of
39:57and i've got people with ptsd adhd um clinical depression
40:02depression and it and it no people don't talk about it and we should encourage it make people feel less alone so
40:07thank you for all of your work thank you i think it's amazing seeing this new generation and how
40:12open they are just how you know we were all taught like if anything's wrong
40:17don't talk about it just like everything's fine but when you do talk about things it just shows
40:22like the power of vulnerability and telling your truth and just like letting
40:27it out and it just like helps you so much and then it makes others feel safe to open up as
40:32well and then it starts like this whole domino effect where so many people could heal around the world
40:37so you are just like us the relatable things so what matter so all of my gay friends
40:42are totally jealous i'm here with you at your house and until i saw this
40:47documentary i didn't really realize why you were a gay icon and i had
40:52tears streaming down my face when you said they are the ones who gave me the greatest gift
40:57showing me what it truly means to live my truth for so long i was weighed down by the shame
41:02over what i went through in the troubled teen industry i've never heard a straight person understand
41:07the shame that gay people go through living in a world of feeling othered and not
41:12feeling welcomed and the fact that you could empathize with that with what you'd gone through
41:17i found that really powerful so thank you when when did you realize
41:22your similarities with the gay community just especially getting out
41:27of those schools and then david la chapelle and i were very close friends
41:32forever and i was one of his muses and he would take me to all the gay clubs so i was hanging out like him
41:37and amanda lapore and like patricia field and like that whole club scene and just
41:42feeling so like much love so accepted just seeing the
41:47people who just like live their life out loud just beautiful inside and out
41:52and just learned so much from that just an incredible community
41:57community in so many ways pride is my favorite time of the year it's so much fun
42:02just being on stage performing going to all the gay clubs and feeling the energy
42:07the love in the room it's like nothing i can even describe it to so much
42:12fun well thank you thank you for your support the way you vocalize that connection to the
42:17community was so breathtaking like how have you dealt with that shame that
42:22you talked about i've just felt that a lot of the things that have happened in my life
42:27or because other people hurt me and something another message in this film that i
42:32want to have others know is that the shame should not
42:37be on us it should be on the people who hurt us and i was actually speaking
42:42with one of the survivors who went to provo canyon school with me and she said that
42:47that's something that got to me um when we were doing my first documentary and that's
42:50something that stuck with me ever since
42:52and it's so true i feel like so many of the times so many of us have held on to shame which
42:57never should have been on us it should have always been on that person who hurt us
43:02so i think that's such a powerful message for people to know in their hearts because i feel like
43:07that would take away a lot of pain from people if they knew that
43:10motherhood they say
43:11motherhood they say
43:12becoming a parent will humble you and make you just like us what's one way
43:17your kids have humbled you recently they are just my
43:22everything my world and every day with them just
43:27i feel like a dream come true i've always wanted to be a mom and
43:30i've always wanted to be a mom and now to have these two
43:32two little angels who are just the cutest little fun like
43:37sweet smart um they're just everything to me i'm
43:42so so lucky that i'm their mom when was your latest
43:47breakdown in tears mummy meltdown moment
43:50they're such good kids i know
43:52i've never had like a meltdown moment they're really well behaved they're so well behaved they're so
43:57like just smart they're so kind they're so gentle
44:02they're on an amazing sleep schedule like they're just like the perfect kids
44:07when they become teenagers if they turn out to be wild how are you going to do with this
44:12i think about that a lot that's that's that scares me um
44:17you're not going to send them to a provost school we know that definitely not um
44:22that's why even with this house like i want to like build like this world where they
44:27never want to sneak out because they'll just always want to invite all their friends here and this will be like the house everyone
44:32like is that with like movie nights and going in the pool and the water
44:37water slide and just like having so much fun where like i feel like they'll never want to leave and if
44:42they try to sneak out we have the most advanced security system
44:47security guards cameras lasers everything so there will be
44:52no sneaking out on my watch so you're creating you're creating a safe environment
44:57so they don't want to leave and if they did they couldn't anyway
45:02what's something your mum and dad taught you about life and parenting
45:07what's something that you want to pass on to your kids or is there anything you want to do differently
45:10or is there anything you want to do differently
45:12i love that my mom and dad just always made every holiday
45:17especially so special just like my mom is like the queen of christmas
45:22christmas so with all the decorating like all of that i learned from her and just making the
45:27all those family moments just like unforgettable and like just all of the memories and family
45:32traditions that i learned from my parents i'm now passing on to my children and
45:37just how important family is and being close with each other
45:40and being close with each other
45:42and yeah just like the holidays are so special and i love that my
45:47my mom really instilled that into me and yeah
45:51how is
45:52kathy as a grandma
45:53how is grandma kathy is she hands on don't
45:55does she spoil them rotten
45:56don't call her
45:57grandma
45:58she's called kiki and she
46:02she is the cutest and the best and the kids love when she comes over
46:07they love going to her house she has like a whole like children's nursery
46:12playroom at the house that has all the coolest toys and everything so they're always
46:17always going over there and playing with her and she's very childlike in so many ways as well so she's
46:22she's just so sweet with them and she's obsessed especially with
46:27london she's like london is like my twin because if you look at their baby photos they look so similar
46:32but she's an amazing yeah she's amazing grandma
46:37you have 20 boy embryos on ice i read um after trying for a girl for so
46:42how many times will you keep them on ice yeah so you never know
46:47so you consider more kids i i love having two but you never know
46:52because they're getting so big so i love babies so much so
46:57maybe there'll be another brother one day we'll see what happens or if someone in the family needs one
47:02you have lots of boys we talked about this earlier about how trolls and social
47:07media are difficult and there's so much mum shaming on social like critiquing like a baby
47:12baby's physicality so appalling how do you handle things like that what does it bring out on you
47:17i'm like a protective mama bear so i get very protective
47:22and you know sometimes there is you know people online who
47:27want to be mean and negative and i just think it's so wrong to talk about a baby
47:32baby in a bad way or or just like a cruel way so i
47:37i'm always very protective of it but there's been so many moms and other
47:42so we've been so supportive and so amazing and i love being able to
47:47share my life with them and it's always nice to hear from the other moms
47:52moms are superheroes and we can do it all just like us there's a level
47:57and like no matter if you've got millions of dollars like you still have
48:02to go through the same struggles as other parents how do you and carter
48:07think about balancing privacy with sharing family moments like how do you ever have any tension about
48:12that feel like i feel like i feel like i feel like i feel like i feel like i share so much of my life um
48:17And I love my fans, and I know that they love seeing my family.
48:22So I love to show them certain moments or not, like, every single day, but...
48:27All, like, the special, fun moments that we do together, it's always fun to share them.
48:32Like, Phoenix just, like, always is saying the cutest things.
48:37And, um, I don't know.
48:38What was the funny thing he said lately?
48:40He...
48:42Just everything.
48:42Like, he just, like, he says all of my catchphrases, like...
48:47That's hot, iconic, loves it.
48:49Slimming.
48:50Slimming says.
48:52He says sana-sa, he loves singing that song.
48:54London just learned it, so she's now saying it.
48:57Iconic is London's favorite word, and it's our dog's name as well.
49:02So, they're just so cute.
49:04I can't...
49:05I'm, like, obsessed.
49:07I can't take it.
49:07So the whole gang now, the crew back in the day are all mums.
49:12Do you and Kim Kardashian ever bond over motherhood these days?
49:15We do.
49:16We talk a lot.
49:17We talk a lot about our kids, how much fun it is to be a mom, um...
49:22I met Dr. Wong through her, who was both of our doctors for our babies.
49:27And she's such an amazing mom.
49:29Did she give you advice?
49:31She said just, like...
49:32soak up every moment, because it goes so fast, and they are just growing up so fast.
49:37How often do you two hang out?
49:39Um, we're both so busy, so anytime...
49:42like, during the holidays, or if it's, like, an event or something.
49:47I love her so much.
49:48I'm so proud of her.
49:49Carter seems so supportive of you.
49:51How do you...
49:52We're just the best parents.
49:56We have so much...
49:57fun with the kids.
49:58Carter is just so sweet, and fun, and gentle.
50:02And just an amazing dad, and they love him so much, and we just have the best...
50:07time with the kids, always.
50:08Do you agree on all the parenting principles?
50:10I think there's not come up things...
50:12because you've disagreed with so far.
50:13No.
50:13You sorted that all out beforehand.
50:15Yeah.
50:16Um, how...
50:17How does he really feel about your obsession with pink, and your interior design?
50:20Like, the pink tennis...
50:22He's cool, and everything.
50:23He loves it.
50:24He loves anything that will make me happy.
50:26It's, like...
50:27It's really incredible.
50:28That is an amazing moment, because the next question was, how did...
50:32How and when did you know Carter was right for you?
50:34But, like...
50:35I just knew right away.
50:37There was just something special about him.
50:39I could just tell, like, just right when he...
50:42looked at me and smiled.
50:43Like, I could just look in someone's eyes and see whether...
50:47like, they're a good person or not, and he...
50:49has such incredible family values.
50:51He's...
50:52just so kind and patient, and loyal, and sweet, and funny, and...
50:57loving, and lifts me up in a way that no one ever has before, and...
51:02He seems to love you for you.
51:03Yeah.
51:04I just feel, like, so safe with him, where I feel like...
51:06anything...
51:07as possible.
51:08And...
51:09that's an amazing feeling, because it's been so hard.
51:12to trust people with everything that's happened in my life.
51:15And, you know, I met him at a...
51:17a time where I just...
51:18it's like, I'm not even gonna get married.
51:20I'm not gonna be with anyone.
51:21Like, I don't...
51:22I don't need a man.
51:23And that's what I was thinking, and then met him.
51:26So, they always say, like...
51:27love will find you when you're not looking for it.
51:29And I never believed that either, but...
51:32I guess it's true, because it worked with me.
51:34And so, you've done...
51:36so...
51:37so much.
51:38What unfinished business have you got?
51:40What have you still got to prove?
51:41What's next?
51:42I feel like I've accomplished, like, everything that I would want...
51:47to in life.
51:48But I'm just gonna continue on with everything I'm doing with 1111.
51:52and media, and just all of the different projects I have with that, and...
51:57I'm very excited for PeraVe, my skincare line, that...
52:02that I've developed for the past three years, and...
52:04building new products with that as well, and...
52:07continuing on with the music, and all my advocacy work, and...
52:12continuing to build IP, and then...
52:15getting involved more in real estate.
52:17with my own hotels.
52:18And, um...
52:19yeah, just continue.
52:20Paris Hilton Hotels.
52:21Paris Hilton Hotels.
52:22Rivaling Hilton Hotels.
52:24Um...
52:25the skincare line, you are ageing back...
52:27backwards, you look...
52:28amazing.
52:29Like, I have a LED mask, like...
52:32just...
52:33just like us, but you have a whole machine, I read.
52:35Yeah, the spa.
52:36The spa.
52:37It's living spa.
52:38It's living spa.
52:39What works the best for readers, for anti-aging?
52:42How...
52:42can we look as amazing as you?
52:43What works the best is PeraVe, my skincare line, of course.
52:47And then the LED, red light is incredible.
52:50Uh...
52:51cryotherapy.
52:52Um...
52:53hyperbaric chamber is the number one thing, uh...
52:55for longevity, which I'm obsessed with.
52:57Um...
52:58I just invested into Brian Johnson's company as well, Blueprint.
53:02which I'm obsessed with.
53:04Um...
53:05so I think, yeah, it's important...
53:06to do...
53:07do all of those things, try to stay out of the sun.
53:10But...
53:11yeah, that...
53:12red light.
53:12It really does work.
53:13I have, like, a whole red light bed, which I'm obsessed with.
53:16And...
53:17I'm building an entire spa downstairs, which would be, like, an 8,000 square foot.
53:22Longevity centre and spa.
53:24So we go from an 8,000 longevity spa...
53:27to testing out just like us.
53:29Because...
53:30that...
53:31that's not quite just like us, but...
53:32now it's time to find out how, just like us, Paris Hilton really is.
53:36It's a quick fire.
53:37Yeah.
53:38Questions will come fast.
53:39The answers should come faster.
53:40And there's no hiding from...
53:42from your humanity.
53:43Are you ready to prove you're just like us?
53:45Yes.
53:46Stars are blind...
53:47is one of my top five karaoke songs, but it's really hard to sing.
53:50Um...
53:51are you just like us?
53:52And have you ever sung...
53:53um...
53:54like...
53:55karaoke?
53:56Yeah, I love karaoke.
53:57What are your songs?
53:58Do you sing Stars Are Blind?
53:59Yes, of course.
54:00Stars Are Blind and I love Bette Davis.
54:02One of my favorites as well.
54:04So iconic.
54:05Classic.
54:07How much help do you have, um...
54:09around the house?
54:10Yeah, we have like...
54:11the nanny.
54:12the people who helped take care of the house.
54:14And...
54:15the handyman.
54:17Yeah.
54:18All of them.
54:19And I love them so much.
54:20They're like part of the family.
54:21What's the most...
54:22surprisingly normal thing you do every day that no one would ever expect from Paris Hilton.
54:27the most normal thing?
54:29Just...
54:30being with my kids in the morning.
54:32eating cereal.
54:33Not cereal.
54:34Watching cartoons.
54:35I like Frosted Blake.
54:37I love cooking.
54:38I love cooking.
54:39I love making French toast with Frosted Flakes cooked onto it.
54:42It's so good.
54:43That's a good American breakfast.
54:44She is just like us.
54:46How much do you spend...
54:47on glam a year...
54:48in a year would you estimate?
54:49I don't know.
54:50I've never...
54:51looked into that.
54:52but I'm sure a lot.
54:53What's one household chore you secretly loved?
54:57doing yourself.
54:58I don't know.
54:59You don't do any?
55:00You don't do any?
55:02Organizing.
55:03I like organizing.
55:04I like organizing.
55:06I like organizing.
55:07I like tidying.
55:08I hate cleaning.
55:09When was the last time you pumped gas?
55:12I used to pump gas when I used to drive everywhere, but I honestly never leave the house now.
55:17like unless I have to and then I have a driver and then I'm always just...
55:22going directly from here to the airport and flying somewhere.
55:25So I have not done gas in a long time.
55:27But if I was driving, I would do it.
55:28I don't mind.
55:29You would.
55:30You didn't mind.
55:31Okay.
55:32You are just...
55:32Just like us.
55:33Well, thank you for sharing your incredible journey and the wisdom that you've imparted
55:37how you've helped people along the way and I do think how vulnerable you are.
55:42It shows that you really are just like us.
55:44So thank you Paris.
