00:00It doesn't go with the outfit.
00:01At all.
00:01Excuse me.
00:02Contrary to a story that Wonder Woman's Gal Gadot made millions less than her DC counterpart Henry Cavill as Superman,
00:09it turns out the two were paid the same for their debut standalone outings.
00:13That's according to a source familiar with both negotiations who told The Hollywood Reporter that Gadot made the same amount up front,
00:20if not slightly more, on Wonder Woman than Cavill made on 2013's Man of Steel.
00:25The alleged salary discrepancy story was based on a post from Elle magazine,
00:30which said Gadot was paid $300,000 for Wonder Woman versus $14 million Cavill received for Man of Steel.
00:37However, that report cobbled together salary information that had previously appeared in various publications,
00:43but did not differentiate between up front salary versus bonuses and performance escalators.
00:48The story was later updated, but caused a stir on the internet due to Hollywood's, and really the culture in general's, gender pay gap.
00:56Yet, The Hollywood Reporter's source called the $14 million paycheck ridiculous.
01:00Why?
01:01Well, a salary of low to mid-six figures is standard fare for Hollywood temples,
01:06especially for actors with short track records like Gadot.
01:09She had some bit parts of movies such as Date Night and Night and Day,
01:13before landing a more substantial but still supporting role in the Fast and Furious movies.
01:18For example, Chris Hemsworth made $150,000 for his starring debut in 2011's Thor.
01:23Similarly, according to sources, Adam Driver was paid in the $500,000 range for his part in Star Wars The Force Awakens.
01:30Felicity Jones, who had an Oscar nomination under her belt before landing the lead in Rogue One,
01:36was paid more than $1 million for the Star Wars standalone.
01:39The thing about these salary figures is that they don't take into account box office bonuses,
01:43which come through when certain benchmarks are hit.
01:45Actors also get substantial increases when it comes to sequels,
01:50even in spite of having option agreements,
01:52and especially if a movie is as successful as Wonder Woman.
01:55Hello, the film has earned $574 million worldwide to date.
02:01Gadot's deal will very likely be renegotiated.
02:04So what's your take?
02:05How do you feel learning Gadot's salary matched up with Cavill's?
02:08Also, now that that's settled, my next question is,
02:10who would win in a showdown between Superman and Wonder Woman?
02:14Hint, it's the one with the lasso.
02:16An extra gold lasso upgrade she'll buy with the sequel money.
02:19Guys, let me know in the comments.
