00:00Ahead of its release this March, we've managed to get our hands on a copy of WWE's latest new home release, The Road is Jericho.
00:10But how good is it? Let's take a look.
00:13So first, a little background. Chris Jericho sums it up perfectly himself.
00:17He was the George Harrison of the Attitude Era.
00:20George Harrison of the Attitude Era.
00:22A hugely popular, incredibly talented performer, but he spent the entirety of his early WWE career overshadowed by the company's resident Lennon and McCartney.
00:29The Rock and Stone Cold.
00:31He's had a hell of a long career, starting out in Canada, heading to Mexico and Japan before making his big ECW debut.
00:37And while none of them, because this collection comes in at a whopping 9 hours.
00:41This is certainly one of the biggest releases WWE's ever put out on home format.
00:45The Blu-ray edition, which is the one we managed to get a hold of, collects 24 matches over an 18-year window,
00:50including two WCW and one ECW championship matches, the famed matchup between Austin with Foley as outside referee,
00:57and the foley as outside referee, and the legendary undisputed title wing, among many other defining moments from Jericho's career.
01:04A really cool element of the whole thing is how it's tied together.
01:07It's in the back of a limo on the way to a fozzy show.
01:09It just flows naturally, and it comes across really well in these segments.
01:13Those who know that Jericho will have heard a few of the stories, but for the uninitiated,
01:17the segments focus on his early career, the stress of travel, his fellow stars, pay-per-view mishaps, and some legendary nights out.
01:24In terms of content range, as we said, there's not really much missing at all from this collection.
01:29Perhaps a little more could have been done with the WWE debut, and it would have been really good to get some kind of counterpoint from some other superstars,
01:35but really, it's a collection of Jericho's personal favorite matches and experiences, so it makes sense to focus solely on his opinion.
01:47The prospect of taking a trip back through a career as strong as his, though, in his own eyes,
01:51should be reason enough for 90% of wrestling fans to get the way that the physical home releases are going.
01:56We can't wait to see what WWE will look next.
01:58The couple of little things we had in mind, though, don't really detract from it at all,
02:02and we strongly suggest you all check it out. It's a solid 8 out of 10.
