Northumberland prepares new pandemic plan amid warning of future outbreak risk

Health officials in Northumberland have launched a new pandemic response plan after national assessments warned there could be a fifteen percent chance of another pandemic within five years.

00:11estimated the likelihood of a new pandemic in the next five years to be as high as 15%.

00:17The plan aims to ensure Northumberland County Council is as prepared as possible for a future

00:24pandemic. It outlines processes for activation and escalation, along with the governance and

00:30command and control structure the Council would follow during a health emergency. Between September

00:36and November last year, the Council also took part in a national exercise evaluating the UK's

00:42Pandemic Response capabilities.
