In this episode of India First, host Gaurav Sawant discusses the findings of a Swiss military think tank report on 'Operation Sindoor' with Lieutenant General KJS Dhillon and Air Marshal M. Mateshwaran. The report validates India's decisive military action against Pakistan-based terror hubs. Gaurav Sawant notes that 'India repeatedly breached that red line of Pakistan' by striking targets within the Punjab province, a move previously considered a strategic taboo. The panel explores how the Indian Air Force and military exhibited 'tremendous control over escalation' while neutralizing enemy air defenses and strategic assets. General Dhillon highlights that the operation effectively 'called Pakistan's nuclear bluff,' proving that India's political and military leadership is prepared to impose heavy costs for state-sponsored terrorism. The discussion further details the significant casualties suffered by the Pakistan Army in the Lipa Valley and the shifting balance of power in the subcontinent following these high-intensity strikes.

00:00But very interesting findings of this Swiss military think tank report.
00:04We knew it, we said it.
00:05Pakistan, of course, kept lying through its teeth.
00:07And that Pakistani propaganda network,
00:09the Chinese and other arms lobbies that peddled Pakistan's lies.
00:13But now, independent analysts studying Operation Sindhu
00:16are coming up with very clear conclusions.
00:18Joining me with the latest on India first is
00:21Lieutenant General K.J.S. Dhillon, former Kashmir Corps commander,
00:24former Director General of India's Defense Intelligence Agency,
00:26and A. Marshal M. Matheshwaran, former Deputy Chief of the Integrated Defense Staff.
00:31Gentlemen, welcome. Happy Republic Day.
00:34A. Marshal Matheshwaran, the report concludes India hit Bahawalpur and Mureed K.,
00:41which it believes is a qualitative leap from past responses to Pakistan's state terror
00:46in terms of depth and coordination.
00:50The report concludes this clearly was crossing all Pakistan's red lines
00:55and my question to you is, has India displayed the ability,
01:00and the world is now realizing it,
01:02we can repeatedly cross Pakistan's red lines,
01:05hit Pakistan in its Punjab province,
01:08the truth that the world now realizes, sir?
01:12Absolutely. I read the report a couple of days back.
01:15I saw that and it became available through the LinkedIn.
01:19It's a very nicely, you know, researched and balanced report.
01:26And much of what he's put out there is what we had all along been analyzing
01:32and talking over the last, ever since May.
01:35And that's exactly what has happened.
01:37So the first day's attack demolished the terrorist targets without any ambiguity.
01:44And what is most significant, which the report now acknowledges,
01:49is that over the next three days,
01:52the Indian military and the Air Force in particular
01:56exhibited tremendous control over escalation
01:59and responded controlling the narrative,
02:02controlling the conduct of the war.
02:04And the attacks on 9th and 10th, he highlights quite strongly,
02:10is what finally brought the Pakistanis down to their knees.
02:14Pakistan was down on its knees.
02:15Gerald Dhillon, if I may,
02:17and you and I have discussed this on Chakravue,
02:20the podcast, Gerald Dhillon,
02:22India repeatedly hit terror bases in Pakistan's Punjab province,
02:28then Pakistan's radars in Punjab province,
02:31and of course in other provinces.
02:33But I want to focus on Pakistan's Punjab province for a moment.
02:37And then Pakistani air defenses,
02:39Pakistani air bases.
02:41Why am I focusing on Pakistan's Punjab province?
02:43Because this, we were told all along in general,
02:46you would have known this as a youngster,
02:49growing up in the army,
02:51that you can hit Pakistan anywhere,
02:53but not in Punjab province.
02:55That's a red line.
02:56India repeatedly breached that red line of Pakistan decisively.
03:00Does this not prove how hollow Pakistan's armed forces are?
03:05Your take on this Swiss military think tank report, sir.
03:09Good evening, Gaurav,
03:11and good evening to the fellow panelists and all your viewers,
03:14and wishing you all a very happy public day,
03:1777th Republic Day.
03:19Now coming down to the question which you asked.
03:22Yes.
03:23After 1971,
03:25it was for the first time
03:26that any Indian defense hardware
03:29hit Pakistan's Punjab province.
03:33You know,
03:34it's only a geographical area
03:36which is called Punjab,
03:38Pakistani Punjab.
03:39But more than that,
03:41since Pakistani Punjabi Muslim
03:43dominates the Pakistani military
03:45and Pakistan's diplomacy
03:47and Pakistan's politics
03:48and everything which Pakistan has,
03:50hitting inside Punjabi,
03:53Pakistani Punjab,
03:54was not only a show of strength,
03:57it was a show of determination
03:59that we will hit you
04:00where it hurts the most
04:02and we will hit you again.
04:04We hit repeatedly
04:05from 7th May
04:07till 10th of May
04:08till as the M.A. Shah was saying
04:10that it brought Pakistan to its knees.
04:13But more importantly,
04:15what this report says is
04:16what we have been saying all along.
04:18We have not been involving ourselves
04:21in any narrative building,
04:23any propaganda.
04:24We have been claiming
04:26and showing results and proofs.
04:28We have been showing
04:29satellite imageries,
04:31we have been showing
04:31ground photographs,
04:33we have been showing the videos
04:34captured by the Pakistani civilians
04:36and we were giving proofs
04:38of every claim which we are making.
04:40Whereas Pakistan's claims are hollow,
04:42it started with the Prime Minister
04:44saying 5-0,
04:45he goes to Turkey,
04:47he says 6-0,
04:48he goes to the United Nations,
04:49he says 7-0,
04:51I think by the end of a few months
04:53it might go to 20-0,
04:5430-0,
04:55I don't know how many zeros.
04:57At the end of the day,
04:58the battles are not won on directives,
05:00battles are won on ground.
05:02And this is what Indian military
05:03proved yet again
05:06that we can strike you
05:08and we can call your nuclear bluff.
05:10That's a very significant point you made.
05:13That India called out
05:15Pakistan's nuclear bluff
05:16and I want to bring in
05:17and I want to bring in
05:17Aymashal Matheshwaran
05:18because once India
05:20hit Pakistan,
05:21the nine terror bases
05:22including four in Pakistan's Punjab province
05:25and of course five in Pakistan occupied Jammu and Kashmir,
05:29Aymashal Matheshwaran reports
05:31then go on to say
05:32how Pakistan responded very aggressively.
05:36Pakistan did not take it lying down,
05:37so we knew Pakistan would respond
05:39but the report says
05:40that Pakistan responded very aggressively.
05:42It concludes at one point of time
05:43there were 100 jets in the sky,
05:4760 Indian Air Force fighter jets
05:48and 40 Pakistan Air Force jets
05:51and that's huge.
05:53However,
05:53however,
05:54the report then goes on to say
05:56Pakistani counter-strike triggered
05:58rapid and more consequential
06:01Indian counter-offensive.
06:03India resorted to textbook suppression
06:04and destruction
06:05of enemy air defenses
06:07we saw it.
06:10Was Pakistan,
06:11in your view sir,
06:12unable
06:13or incapable
06:14of defending itself
06:16once its air defenses
06:17were taken down?
06:20Well,
06:21I think
06:21you see on the first day
06:24we were quite clear
06:25that we
06:25have no interest
06:27in escalating
06:28and therefore
06:29we
06:29very clearly
06:30sent out the message
06:31that the attack
06:32is only on terrorist outfit
06:33and it is also a message
06:35that terrorist outfits
06:36wherever you hide
06:38whether it's Punjab
06:39or Kashmir
06:39wherever it is
06:40we will hit you.
06:41The message that
06:42we will cross the borders
06:43was to attack
06:45your terrorist outfit
06:46was already sent
06:47during the Balakot
06:48you know
06:492019 action.
06:51but I think
06:52this time
06:53on the first day
06:55this was a clear message
06:56that there was
06:57no interest
06:58in escalating
06:58and therefore
06:59we are not touching
06:59any of your military targets.
07:01But he escalated.
07:02Pakistan on the 7th
07:04and when Pakistan
07:06now escalated
07:07therefore
07:08thereafter
07:08I think
07:09we have taken
07:10firm control
07:11and we opened out
07:13the conflict
07:14by following
07:15classic military
07:16you know
07:17action
07:18which is
07:18neutralizing
07:19the air defenses
07:20neutralizing
07:21their attacks
07:22and the report
07:23brings out
07:24very clearly
07:24both on 8th
07:25and 9th
07:26their
07:26consistent attacks
07:28with drones
07:29and weapons
07:30were neutralized
07:31completely
07:31by the IACCS system
07:33and the
07:34other
07:35Akarshtir
07:36but
07:37when they didn't
07:39stop
07:39and they were
07:40planning to escalate
07:41further
07:41is the time
07:42that we now
07:43sent out
07:44our long-range missiles
07:45to attack
07:46the air fields
07:47and the report
07:48clearly brings out
07:49that although
07:49we did not
07:50acknowledge
07:50we've actually
07:51attacked
07:52the very important
07:53strategic storage sites
07:55and that probably
07:56was a major
07:57shake-up
07:58for the Pakistani
07:59leadership
07:59I think this
08:01is within 4 days
08:02it's a short
08:03conflict
08:04but within 4 days
08:05I think
08:06the military
08:07leadership
08:07quality that's
08:08been exhibited
08:09was exemplary
08:10and the
08:11overall
08:11I want you to
08:12elaborate on this
08:13that's a very
08:14significant point
08:14you make
08:15but you know
08:16for those
08:16who may think
08:16what were those
08:17strategic assets
08:18that we hit
08:20for a moment
08:21I want to stay on this
08:22so that you understand
08:22the Pakistani psyche
08:24when we hit
08:25that terror bases
08:26in typical
08:27Pakistani bravado
08:28they said back
08:29they said
08:30we will also strike
08:31and 40 aircraft
08:32they launched
08:32and they launched
08:33the J-10Cs
08:35launched their
08:35PL-15s
08:36and what have you
08:37in response
08:39when India
08:40hit
08:40General Dhillon
08:41what were those
08:42strategic assets
08:43in your view
08:44that India
08:44has not publicly
08:45acknowledged
08:46but did hit
08:47that the Swiss
08:48military think tank
08:49also takes
08:50cognizance of
08:51that Pakistan
08:52realized
08:53they've messed
08:54around
08:54with the wrong
08:56country
08:56wrong leadership
08:57wrong time
08:57Guru as I said
09:01in my previous
09:01comment
09:02their nuclear
09:03bluff was called
09:04although we
09:05our military
09:06leadership
09:07in the DGMO
09:08and Equal Aid
09:08conferences
09:09we have not
09:11spoken about
09:12anything like this
09:13but since the
09:14report speaks
09:14about the
09:15strategic assets
09:16having been
09:18hit or having
09:18been hit
09:20nearby
09:20so I will
09:22go by the
09:22official version
09:23but I will
09:23say it in
09:24two lines
09:25probably
09:26for your viewers
09:26who will
09:27understand
09:27Hindi
09:27firstly
09:29and secondly
09:35having said
09:39that
09:40those strategic
09:41assets
09:42was part
09:43hitting them
09:44or hitting
09:44around them
09:45was part
09:45of calling
09:46the nuclear
09:46bluff
09:47it was telling
09:48we know
09:49where you are
09:49and we will
09:50get you
09:50wherever you
09:51are
09:51and whatever
09:51you have
09:52come what
09:53may
09:53so that
09:55message was
09:55very clear
09:56and in this
09:56the military
09:57leadership
09:57played a very
09:58good role
09:59more importantly
10:00the national
10:01leadership
10:01and the
10:01political
10:02will
10:02it's not
10:04easy
10:04first time
10:05in the history
10:06of the world
10:06two nuclear
10:07powers went
10:08to war
10:08it's not
10:09easy to
10:10take a call
10:11as a political
10:12leadership
10:12and as a
10:13national
10:13government
10:14to strike
10:15the wave
10:15we struck
10:16with the
10:18bravado
10:18which Pakistan
10:19always have
10:19been trying
10:20to show
10:21about nuclear
10:21bluff
10:22so this
10:23was a very
10:24strong
10:24political
10:25will
10:25and a
10:26national
10:26leadership
10:27dictate
10:27which
10:28military
10:29leadership
10:30proved it
10:30on them
10:30absolutely
10:32and the
10:33report does
10:34conclude that
10:34that you
10:35know the
10:36political
10:36leadership
10:37gave a
10:37wide
10:37berth
10:38to the
10:38armed
10:39forces
10:39they gave
10:40the broad
10:40aims
10:41and the
10:41armed
10:41forces
10:41were able
10:42to deliver
10:43on the
10:43political
10:44military
10:44aim
10:45would I
10:48be out
10:48of place
10:49if I
10:49draw a
10:50small
10:50correlation
10:52from what
10:53happened in
10:532019
10:54so we
10:55hit Balakot
10:56crossing
10:57LC
10:58hitting across
10:59the international
10:59border
11:00hitting in
11:01Khaybar Pakhtunfwa
11:01province
11:02that was
11:02successful
11:03Pakistan said
11:04it will hit
11:04back
11:05and it did
11:05try and
11:06strike
11:06it did not
11:07cross the
11:08IB
11:08though it
11:09did use
11:09long range
11:10weapons
11:10but when
11:11India responded
11:12and then
11:13Vinko Abhinandan
11:14was shot down
11:14Vinkamanda Abhinandan
11:15was shot down
11:16now group
11:17captain
11:17Prime Minister
11:19was quoted
11:19much later
11:21at a rally
11:21Prime Minister
11:22Narendra Modi
11:23in Gujarat
11:24if I remember
11:24correctly
11:25words to the
11:25effect
11:26he said
11:27if our
11:27pilot was
11:28not returned
11:29our missiles
11:30were aimed
11:30at Pakistan
11:31and Pakistan
11:32was told
11:33aaj ki raath
11:35hogi katla ki raath
11:37aaj ki raath
11:39hogi katla ki raath
11:40jumped to
11:412025
11:42that katla ki raath
11:44100 plus
11:45terrorists killed
11:46100 plus
11:47Pakistan soldiers
11:48killed in
11:48Lipa Valley
11:49was India
11:50then sending
11:51across that
11:51message
11:52that
11:52come what
11:53may
11:54terrorism is
11:55unacceptable
11:55we are
11:56imposing
11:56costs on
11:56Pakistan
11:57Air Marshal
11:58Mateshwaran
11:58Pakistan Air
11:59Force this
12:00report says
12:00face direct
12:01and repeated
12:02blows to the
12:02core of their
12:04air power
12:04Indian strikes
12:05on park
12:05bases
12:06they sharply
12:07reduce
12:08PAF ability
12:09to sustain
12:10operations
12:11is that a
12:12conclusion you
12:13also draw
12:13that Pakistan's
12:14ability to
12:15sustain
12:15operations
12:16were diminished
12:17absolutely
12:18actually
12:19the attack
12:21on the
12:219th and
12:2210th
12:22significantly
12:23sent out a
12:24very clear
12:24message that
12:25one we've
12:27broken through
12:27the air
12:27defense
12:28neutralize the
12:28air defense
12:29second is
12:30very precise
12:32attacks on
12:33very highly
12:34valuable targets
12:35and therefore
12:37they are now
12:38open to a
12:39complete destruction
12:39if they continue
12:40to escalate
12:41and these
12:42long range
12:43missiles
12:43particularly the
12:44brambos and
12:45the scalp
12:45and the other
12:47weapons
12:47they are very
12:49precise and the
12:50damage that
12:51they've
12:51caused
12:54has shaken
12:55them up
12:55completely
12:56and let me
12:57also put it
12:58this way
12:58out of the
12:58three military
12:59services of
13:00Pakistan
13:00the air force
13:01is quite
13:02very
13:03we have
13:04a fairly
13:05good respect
13:05for them
13:06but I don't
13:07think even
13:08they would
13:08have expected
13:09this kind
13:09of a response
13:10on the
13:1010th
13:11particularly
13:11on the
13:129th and
13:1210th
13:12and that
13:14has shaken
13:14them up
13:14so it's a
13:15very strong
13:15message for
13:16the future
13:16it's a
13:17very very
13:17strong message
13:18for Pakistan
13:18may I
13:22request you
13:23if you could
13:23elaborate on
13:23the strategic
13:24targets that
13:25the Swiss
13:26military report
13:27the think tank
13:28report seems
13:29to indicate
13:29the strategic
13:30targets that
13:31we were able
13:32to hit
13:33that sent
13:34across a
13:34message to
13:35Pakistan
13:35that enough
13:36is enough
13:37and they
13:37sought peace
13:38they sought
13:39a ceasefire
13:39well the report
13:41comes to the
13:41conclusion based
13:42on you know
13:43the photographic
13:44evidence of
13:45the attacks
13:47that have
13:48taken place
13:48and of
13:49course we
13:50have not
13:51like the
13:52general said
13:52we have not
13:53officially said
13:54anything on
13:54that but
13:55the attack
13:56has taken
13:56place on
13:57the strategic
13:58headquarters
13:58area and
14:00the report
14:00clearly says
14:01it is also
14:02an area where
14:04the strategic
14:04nuclear weapons
14:05are stored
14:06and this
14:07would have
14:08alarmed the
14:09political
14:10leadership in
14:11Pakistan as
14:12well as I
14:13think the
14:13Americans as
14:14well so
14:15it left
14:17no
14:17if further
14:19escalation would
14:20have been
14:20suicidal for
14:22Pakistan because
14:23if the nuclear
14:24weapons have
14:24been locked up
14:25inside then it
14:26is a serious
14:27you know drawback
14:28for them and
14:29further escalation
14:30would have been
14:31unthinkable for
14:32them they had
14:32no option but
14:33to sue for
14:34ceasefire
14:34may I conclude
14:36that this is the
14:37conversation on
14:38Kirana Hills
14:39Sargodha
14:41something that
14:41was hit in
14:4265-71 but
14:43not with the
14:44intensity with
14:46which multiple
14:47air bases have
14:48been targeted
14:48and we are
14:49showing those
14:50images their
14:50command and
14:50control center at
14:51Noor Khan
14:52the manner in
14:53which they were
14:53hit at Sargodha
14:54in Jacobabad
14:55in Raheem
14:55Ramyaar Khan
14:56Rafiki
14:57Mushaf

14:59in Sindh
15:00Pasroor
15:01Chunyan
15:01Malir
15:02cantonment
15:02in Karachi
15:03that long
15:04list
15:05General
15:05Dhillan
15:06it seems to
15:07indicate as
15:07this report
15:08concludes that
15:09by the
15:0910th of May
15:10the balance
15:11had shifted
15:12there was a
15:13marked change
15:14in the
15:15strategic doctrine
15:16has the
15:18balance of
15:18power also
15:19decisively
15:19shifted
15:20does Pakistan
15:21realize
15:22because each
15:23time
15:23permit me
15:23after Uri
15:24terror attack
15:25India did
15:26a shallow
15:26surgical strike
15:27in multiple
15:28places but
15:28along the
15:29LC
15:29after Pulwama
15:30India hit
15:31deep in
15:32Khyber Pakhtoon
15:33Khoa
15:33after Pahlgaam
15:34India hit
15:35across Pakistan
15:36has Pakistan
15:36realized each
15:37time this
15:38terror
15:38India will
15:39hit deeper
15:40harder
15:41stronger
15:41next time
