00:00Dubai in the 90s was different.
00:02Sheikh Zayed Road was mostly empty,
00:05and you could actually see the desert on both sides.
00:08Before the Dubai Mall, Lamsey Plaza was the place to be.
00:12You could spend the whole day there without planning it.
00:15Toys R Us was where you bought your favorite toy from,
00:19and Spinneys was where you picked up things you couldn't find anywhere else.
00:23Some weekends meant ice skating at Al Nazar Leisure Land.
00:26Others were spent at Magic Planet, trying to win tickets.
00:30Channel 33 and Cartoon Network were the Netflix of its time,
00:34and Thursday nights were sacred for the 10 p.m. movie.
00:38Back then, weekends were Thursday and Friday,
00:41and on Thursday nights, Karama was full.
00:44Shawarmas, shisha, and shopping defined an evening outside.
00:48Dubai is very different now,
00:50but if you were there in the 90s, you still remember how normal it all felt.
