00:33Pero Canadá no vive porque de los Estados Unidos.
00:38Canadá thrives porque somos Canadá.
00:41Aplausos.
00:57I said we had to do two things.
01:00The second is, first is to be a bastion.
01:03The second is to be a beacon.
01:05An example to a world that's at sea.
01:07In a time of rising populism and ethnic nationalism,
01:13Canada can show how diversity is a strength, not a weakness.
01:18In a time of democratic decline,
01:20we can show how rights can be protected and equal freedoms endure.
01:24And in a time of rising walls and thickening borders,
01:28we can demonstrate how a country can be both open and secure,
01:32welcoming and strong, principled and powerful.
01:36There are literally billions of people who aspire to what we have built.
01:41A pluralistic society that works.
01:44A public square that's loud, diverse and free.
01:47An economy that delivers broadly shared prosperity.
01:51A democracy that chooses to protect the most vulnerable against the powerful.
01:55Now, Canada can't solve all the world's problems.
02:01But we can show that another way is possible.
02:04That the arc of history isn't destined to be warped towards authoritarianism and exclusion.
02:11It can still bend towards progress and justice.
02:14In this time of great consequence, we are choosing.
02:27We are choosing to work together to build one Canadian economy.
02:31We've made great progress over the past year.
02:34Now we have to redouble our efforts with the provinces and territories.
02:38We're choosing to find new markets and develop new partnerships.
02:41We've announced a dozen new economic and security partnerships across four continents in the last six months.
02:48More will come.
02:48All will deepen.
02:49We choose to build in solidarity with Canadian workers.
02:53Creating hundreds of thousands of good-paying union jobs.
02:57And investing in apprenticeships and skills training.
03:00So that young Canadians can have the careers of tomorrow.
03:04What makes Canada a great country?
03:12It's a great country for everyone.
03:15It's the greatest country in the world to be a regular person.
03:21You don't have to be born rich or to a landed family here.
03:25You don't have to be a certain color or worship a certain God.
03:31Canadians believe in the value of every other Canadian.
03:35Their boundless potential to make this great country even better.
03:39Our ancestors, despite their differences, believed in each other and in us.
03:45Now, there are long periods of history where these values can prosper unchallenged.
03:52Ours is not one of them.
03:55Our values must be fought for.
03:58Le Canada est devenu plus rich, plus inclusive et plus acquittable.
04:05Canadians are inclusive.
04:07We know our country is stronger when everyone belongs, when newcomers are welcome, when minorities are protected, when indigenous peoples are true partners.
04:18That commitment to inclusion was institutionalized.
04:21First in the Bill of Rights and then embedded in the Charter of Rights and Freedoms.
04:24It was manifest in our adoption of multiculturalism, first as policy and then as law, of caring and sharing, of equity and fairness for all.
04:37Canada is an ambitious nation of builders and explorers.
04:40We mapped this continent before the Americans had even left St. Louis.
04:45We built a transcontinental railway in five years, the St. Lawrence Seaway in four.
04:49We created a health care system that became a model for the world.
04:54This government, Canada's new government, shares that ambition.
04:59We've already removed all federal barriers to interprovincial trade,
05:03and we're catalyzing hundreds of billions of dollars in investments in nation-building projects.
05:08We're doubling our defence spending by the end of this decade.
05:12And we're working to ensure that core Canadian capabilities,
05:16including in AI, in quantum, in cyber, in critical minerals,
05:19will maximize the economic benefit for Canadians of these new security imperatives.
05:28Now we need to execute fairly and fast.
05:33We choose to build a bright future, worthy of the ground on which we stand.
05:45We choose Canada.
05:47Thank you very much.
05:48Merci beaucoup.
