00:00:00Oh
00:00:30This is what a nightmare looks like.
00:00:41Mike Tyson's nightmare.
00:00:46It was the richest fight in boxing history.
00:00:50Mike Tyson wasn't ready.
00:00:56Lennox Lewis was.
00:01:00It was the night Mike Tyson hit rock bottom in the ring.
00:01:04Don't go there.
00:01:05Don't go there.
00:01:14Don't go there
00:01:15Where do you go from here, Mike?
00:01:37I don't know, man. I might just fade into Bolivian, you know what I mean?
00:01:40I don't have nowhere to go and nothing to do, you know what I mean?
00:01:43I used to go fly my pigeons on the roof in New York.
00:01:57Sometimes I have to be really at my lowest level to really get the purest out of me.
00:02:02I'm just trying to get back into loving it again.
00:02:12I was just fighting for, I don't know what I was doing.
00:02:17My mind's been in other places for a long time.
00:02:19I had no chance to love anybody, I care about anybody, because I was just so stuck in the past.
00:02:37The past is a glorious moment, isn't it?
00:02:40The past.
00:02:41Why can't I have what I want?
00:02:50Why can't I? I worked hard for it, I sweated for it, I didn't steal it, I bled in the gym for it,
00:02:57I beat my body up and I allowed people to beat me up.
00:03:00Why shouldn't I have it all? Nobody should take nothing from me.
00:03:03He's earned more prize money than any athlete in the history of sports and he still works out in a public gym.
00:03:12In Mike's world, things are never as they seem.
00:03:16Never.
00:03:16Never.
00:03:16Never.
00:03:33Never.
00:03:34Never.

00:04:01Never.
00:04:02Never.
00:04:03Las Vegas is his last remaining palace.
00:04:22Just like Mike, it is unfulfilled promise,
00:04:27suffering from neglect.
00:04:29People should try being me, you know what I mean?
00:04:31The world I've come from, I've been abused and used.
00:04:36Any way a person could be abused and used.
00:04:39I want to look like some enraged animal and stuff.
00:04:42I want to hang out and love life.
00:04:45But I'm not going to tell everybody nobody push me around like I'm a chump.
00:04:55After the next Louis fight, he was just, I don't know, totally different.
00:05:00He was more humble.
00:05:02He's just a regular person like everyone else,
00:05:04that he's not this animal, you know, that people think he is.
00:05:07He's just a beautiful person with a big heart, very giving and sensitive and emotional.
00:05:16I know his past and, you know, it's there.
00:05:18You can't just overlook it.
00:05:22I'm here to show him that there's people he can trust,
00:05:24because it's very hard for him to trust people.
00:05:27You know, he's been burnt a lot.
00:05:30And people used to look at him as an easy target.
00:05:32They were like, you know, he's someone that, he has so much money,
00:05:35he's always throwing it around.
00:05:37I might as well get a piece of it.
00:05:38You know, that's how people looked at it.
00:05:41He's got a lot of love to give him.
00:05:42People don't know that.
00:05:43So I know that I'm that person.
00:05:47I'm here to make him happy.
00:05:50I'm glad the fact she said she's in love.
00:05:53Then again, you know, all this stuff, all these goodies and stuff,
00:05:56it's easy to love this stuff.
00:05:58You know what I mean?
00:05:59Let me see a couple of my episodes,
00:06:00a couple of more of my episodes, and we'll find out.
00:06:03What does a man do to himself when he gets ready to fight another man?
00:06:16Tuning the body is one thing,
00:06:18but getting your mind there is something else.
00:06:21And then you gotta go back.
00:06:23It doesn't matter that you're fighting some guy named Clifford Etienne,
00:06:26a guy you're expected to destroy.
00:06:30You're headed back to Memphis.
00:06:33Back to a place of bad memory.
00:06:37Mike Tyson returning to the scene of his worst performance.
00:06:39And when the week began, we weren't even sure there would be a fight.
00:06:42Tyson needs to win big and make a powerful statement.
00:06:45Tyson risks cuts and infection by getting a tattoo on his face
00:06:50only 11 days before the bout.
00:06:53Billions of people are fired with tattoos on their face.
00:06:56I got a tattoo, and I'm not finished.
00:06:58I had to stop because people were complaining.
00:07:00So when I get finished, then you talk about my tattoo.
00:07:03And this is nothing.
00:07:04This is not even halfway done.
00:07:10Did speak to Shelly Finkel, Mike Tyson's manager.
00:07:12He did tell me that Mike spent most of the day today in seclusion,
00:07:16very focused, much, much different
00:07:18than when he was here in June against Lennox Lewis.
00:07:20In fact, he said, I wished he'd have had this attitude and this focus
00:07:23going into that fight.
00:07:24What do you want to talk to me?
00:07:29What do you want to do with me?
00:07:31I'm going to watch my eating techniques here.
00:07:34I gorge the chicken.
00:07:36I eat like a barracuda.
00:07:39I have no etiquette skills whatsoever.
00:07:45I hate Mike Tyson.
00:07:51I don't like Mike Tyson.
00:07:52So I mostly wish to work for Mike Tyson.
00:07:55So I don't get caught up with Mike Tyson.
00:07:57That's probably why I don't like my friends and my fans.
00:08:00I'm a pretty decent individual,
00:08:02but sometimes I go to the deep end, sometimes I get on the dark side.
00:08:05I think I come across too hard, too tough.
00:08:08Some people think, **** me.
00:08:10They see how **** up I am for a lesion
00:08:12and nobody even considered helping.
00:08:14And even if I'm embarrassed to accept it,
00:08:16can't they, if I'm friendly,
00:08:18can't they please get somebody to help?
00:08:20Can't they get them **** to put me in a stain of asylum
00:08:22or a mental ward or whatever place I need to be in,
00:08:24a hospital or just a psychiatrist?
00:08:28I'm just going to extremes what to do,
00:08:30but I don't know, but you know.
00:08:31Everybody, I don't see them for weeks.
00:08:35Girls, I can't ever get the **** to get their number.
00:08:37They call me always the day of the fight,
00:08:39the week before the fight.
00:08:41It shows me.
00:08:42I'm just, I'm never going to **** these girls
00:08:44because if I don't **** them the day before the fight
00:08:47or something like that, I'm never going to see them again.
00:08:49So I just really don't, you know.
00:08:53Maybe in my next life, I'll have a better life.
00:08:56And that's why I'm just looking forward to go to the other world
00:08:58because I really hate the way I live now
00:09:00and I hate my life now.
00:09:01You know, the fact is over the names and the means.
00:09:10I'm working at another two.
00:09:14None of my friends have any respect for me.
00:09:18Love is respect, I think.
00:09:20I think love is respect.
00:09:23Now, most of these people love me.
00:09:24I got some money.
00:09:25And, you know, of course, it's easy to love people
00:09:26that live like me.
00:09:27You got to me in all the houses.
00:09:29Man, it's just so easy to love a person like that.
00:09:33They haven't seen me when I'm homicidal, suicidal,
00:09:36just totally off the **** rocket.
00:09:38The more my bank account grow, the more feelings I lose.
00:09:47The more intimacy I lose, the more respect I lose for women.
00:09:51Good luck with us.
00:09:52I probably cheated on every woman I've ever been with.
00:09:57Good luck, good luck.
00:09:58Good luck to you, Mike.
00:09:59Probably never respect them because I probably never respected myself.
00:10:02I never understood dignity.
00:10:03Good luck, good luck.
00:10:04Good luck, good luck.
00:10:04He spoke to me.
00:10:06He spoke to me.
00:10:07I want to, but I just don't have love for anybody.
00:10:12I don't know if any woman I've ever been with.
00:10:14Isn't that crazy?
00:10:14Never love it.
00:10:16Memphis.
00:10:1720 seconds.
00:10:18After the big fight, it's going on.
00:10:20It's the biggest after party.
00:10:22The biggest club.
00:10:23Dinam and diamond.
00:10:24Do you know what time it is?
00:10:27Danger!
00:10:28What time is it?
00:10:29Danger!
00:10:33Making his way to the ring.
00:10:35The most exciting fighter of his generation.
00:10:39Please welcome Iron Mike Tyson.
00:11:02It's over!
00:11:03And he's helped up by Tyson.
00:11:08Opening minute of the fight.
00:11:10Yes!
00:11:11Magnificent.
00:11:15Rising from the ashes that night, Mike Tyson was reborn as a fighter.
00:11:20At least it seemed that way.
00:11:22I've been doing this for probably 23 to 25 years.
00:11:26And I haven't received any dignity from it.
00:11:28I've received a lot of pain from it.
00:11:30I would have probably received it just in my average everyday life if I didn't fight.
00:11:33It's just, it made me not like Mike Tyson no more.
00:11:37So, um, when y'all guys show me love, I hate you.
00:11:40Because I don't like myself.
00:11:41So, um, we got a little, um, I got a catch-22 with my own identity.
00:11:45You know what I mean?
00:11:46That's how come I, I'm very harsh with you sometimes.
00:11:48Because I'm very tyrannical.
00:11:50Because I'm not happy with myself.
00:11:51I don't care if I live and die.
00:11:52I don't give a f*** about any of y'all, but I do.
00:11:59Hi, Gina.
00:12:01You saw Daddy fight?
00:12:02Yeah, yeah, I'm too sorry.
00:12:04Were you happy?
00:12:05Yeah.
00:12:06All right.
00:12:07We're going to try to keep him like that short and get him out of there, right?
00:12:10Yeah, we're going to be short.
00:12:12Yeah, I can try to make one.
00:12:13I was going to back for it.
00:12:14Okay, I'm letting my baby go back to sleep.
00:12:16I just wanted to tell her I love her and I won.
00:12:18Tell all the knuckleheads I said hi.
00:12:20Well, I tried to wake her up, but they were out.
00:12:22Yeah, I know them, they ain't going nowhere.
00:12:25Good job.
00:12:26Bye.
00:12:26Bye.
00:12:26Bye.
00:12:26Bye.
00:12:26Bye.
00:12:27Bye.
00:12:27Bye.
00:12:28Bye.
00:12:29Bye.
00:12:29Bye.
00:12:30Bye.
00:12:31Bye.
00:12:32Bye.
00:12:33Bye.
00:12:34Bye.
00:12:35I really have nothing to lose in my life.
00:12:49I have nothing.
00:12:53I lost my soul as a human being.
00:12:55I lost my self-respect.
00:12:57I'm not a lovable guy, so it's really not hard for people to dislike me.
00:13:10I'm just a decent person.
00:13:12I just want to love everybody, but first you have to love me too.
00:13:15A lot of times I just hate myself.
00:13:19Sometimes I think about some of the things I've done to people and some of the ways I
00:13:23hurt people.
00:13:27Sometimes the journey home shows you where that hate and that hurt comes from.
00:13:32I'm a bad man.
00:13:33I'm not a bad man, but I'm a bad man.
00:13:35I'm a bad man.
00:13:36I have to worry.
00:13:37I had to worry.
00:13:38I was just a monster as a kid.
00:13:40I was just a monster as a kid.
00:13:43I was just a monster as a kid, the beast survived, the toughest survived, the meanest, you have to be willing to do what no one else would do, mean, ferocious, blood through, you have to be the man.
00:13:57My sister and brother used to kick the s*** out of me all the time, and I just didn't want to fight.
00:14:05My brother was always a genius, everyone in the block loved him.
00:14:09And what did they say about you?
00:14:10I was a piece of s***.
00:14:13I was a piece of s***.
00:14:24I started breaking the houses in Brooklyn.
00:14:28I like the armed robberies.
00:14:30You have to go where the money's at, you have to go into stores and houses and stuff.
00:14:37I was more inclined to that kind of stuff when I was a child.
00:14:41My mother, my brother, my sister, they would never steal, they would prefer to beg.
00:14:48They embarrassed me a lot because they were too, they were too honest.
00:14:51I got a lot of beatings, a lot of real horrific beatings.
00:15:05And I was very afraid all the time.
00:15:12My mother may throw hot, squalling water on her boyfriend.
00:15:15Her boyfriend may beat her and fracture her eye socket or something, or break her finger.
00:15:20Her emotions was high, and they're hating one of them, and then they're back here loving one another.
00:15:25And you're talking about dysfunctionality at its highest level.
00:15:28The strongest woman figure in our life is our mother.
00:15:35And more normally, most young black in the city kids see that figure destroyed by a black man.
00:15:40So I only really hold some kind of hatred for our mother's boyfriends or black men in general.
00:15:47By age 13, he was locked up, but the abuse didn't stop in jail.
00:15:53I wasn't really abused by the kids, mostly by the staff members.
00:15:58They beat the s*** out of me.
00:16:00I think I deserved at least 95% of the beatings.
00:16:05I used to always foot back.
00:16:06I wasn't always successful, but I always foot back.
00:16:08Tyson was sent to a detention center 100 miles from Brooklyn, not far from a town called Catskill,
00:16:17where an old boxing legend toiled in obscurity in a gym above a local police station.
00:16:26I go, that's it.
00:16:28That's it.
00:16:29No, I do it the other way.
00:16:32Customato had turned around street kids before.
00:16:35He had trained the youngest heavyweight champion ever.
00:16:38Floyd Patterson.
00:16:40We get a phone call from this Bobby Stewart, who was an amateur fighter,
00:16:45and he was a guard in a correctional facility.
00:16:49He called us one day and said, you know, I got this young kid up here who never boxed or nothing,
00:16:54doesn't know anything, but he gets in trouble.
00:16:57I was wondering if you and Teddy would take a look.
00:17:01I met this white guy, he was a strange, a little odd, and he started saying things like,
00:17:06wow, you could be the greatest fighter that ever lived, and you're great.
00:17:08I'm thinking he's like some old pervert guy.
00:17:11I'm talking, okay, cool.
00:17:12I knew Cuss was thinking, wow, I got somebody to be young about again, to have some hope.
00:17:19But Cuss didn't want to wait.
00:17:23He was an older man who years earlier had fame, but didn't have it for a long time.
00:17:28Had money, but didn't have it for a long time.
00:17:31And now he saw a chance to have it again, but he wasn't young, and he had to speed it up.
00:17:37When he came, actually, I talked to him and treated him like everybody else.
00:17:44He had to go through the same thing and prepare him about the mind and the body and so forth and so on.
00:17:50He has basically destroyed me of all my habits and, yes, reformed me.
00:17:55Remember from the side, you can let that punch go with the worst kind of...
00:17:59He was my first exposure to a white guy who didn't judge me.
00:18:04With all the power you can generate.
00:18:06I was madly in love with Cuss Amato.
00:18:08I became, um, he broke me down and rebuild me back up, and I became totally loyal to him.
00:18:16I became a slave.
00:18:20I was a young kid at the time.
00:18:22I just wanted to love him forever.
00:18:23I wanted him to be my father.
00:18:29I wanted him to be my father, and I wanted him to be my father, and I wanted him to be my father.
00:18:59He's literated at Madison Square Garden in New York.
00:19:02Good night.
00:19:04Be the champ of the world someday.
00:19:06Just keep your mind where it's supposed to be.
00:19:09Each week, I teach him something new.
00:19:11First week, I teach him how to slip punch.
00:19:13Second week, I teach him how to weave hooks.
00:19:15Each time he come back, you can see he learned real fast because he was interested.
00:19:20Straight over, straight and straight.
00:19:21Cuss had it in his mind to make sure he concentrated on the most evident thing,
00:19:26that he could punch, and he was going to be a knockout artist.
00:19:29He had this outer body that could really fool you into forgetting that he was still a kid
00:19:46who had to develop.
00:19:49Developed as he was physically, he was lacking emotionally.
00:19:53Look, look, look, just relax, Michael.
00:19:55Relax, just relax.
00:19:57Relax, what?
00:19:58Just relax.
00:20:00Relax.
00:20:00We think about nothing.
00:20:01Yeah, but just relax.
00:20:03Just relax.
00:20:04I'm the first time.
00:20:05Yeah, well, just relax.
00:20:08Don't get so tense.
00:20:10Relax.
00:20:12All of this is another park, relax.
00:20:15You've done it already 20 times.
00:20:17You've done it in the gym.
00:20:19There's a better fighter than we're ever going to fight here.
00:20:23He's unsure of himself.
00:20:24He wants to be reaffirmed that this is worthwhile, that he is worthwhile, that he has merit, that
00:20:29he can handle this.
00:20:30I feel an affection for him, that I want him to be okay.
00:20:44I want him to not just win physically, but win emotionally.
00:20:48I want him to be able to get through this.
00:20:50Let's go get ready for a fight.
00:20:55Come on.
00:20:56I was just 15.
00:20:57I was just for this big time.
00:20:59I'm emotionally afraid.
00:21:01I'm a street kid.
00:21:02I'm used to pulling out my gun and people, and now I'm getting ready to fight a guy.
00:21:06Head up with rules now.
00:21:08He might beat my ass.
00:21:10This white boy might beat the shit out of me, because it's a possibility.
00:21:12If you don't know your shit, it doesn't matter about him.
00:21:14You'll be a big, strong, and now you're fighting a skinny white boy.
00:21:16This is a disciplined sport.
00:21:18Hey, Carson.
00:21:32Eight second knockout in the first round.
00:21:34Eight second knockout.
00:21:36The right hand.
00:21:37The official came over to him and said, you just set a record.
00:21:41Fastest knockout ever.
00:21:48To the outside world, it seemed like boxing's version of a fairy tale.
00:21:56But again, in Mike's world, things are never as they seem.
00:22:01Tyson started having problems in school with kids and with teachers and getting in trouble.
00:22:13It was over 100 reports of girls in one way or another being not treated right, being abused.
00:22:19That stuff was kept quiet because Cus had some meetings with the people in the school and convinced them that Tyson was going to make the town famous.
00:22:31Eventually, he was permanently expelled from school.
00:22:35Cus told him that, hey, if they kick you out, don't worry about it.
00:22:39I'll get you a tutor.
00:22:41The problem was he didn't get him a tutor.
00:22:43He didn't get his GED because they didn't care about it.
00:22:46You know, I mean, he was knocking guys out.
00:23:03I'm feeling real white and happy.
00:23:07It was ironic because my mother was sick.
00:23:11I almost forgot about my mother because I was living an upper-middle-class life.
00:23:17I'm in my white world.
00:23:19And then Cus tells me about my mother's situation with the cancer.
00:23:24And I don't understand it.
00:23:30And so I go down, I go to the hospital and I see my mother.
00:23:33I have no idea of, I've seen movies.
00:23:37I've never seen anyone sick with cancer.
00:23:39So I expect to see, well, you know, I love you.
00:23:42But I'm a goner now, Johnny.
00:23:45I mean, you know, I'm used to seeing movies.
00:23:47I'm actually going in and witnessing my mother, um, stricken with this illness.
00:23:51It was over-whelming.
00:23:54Oh, man, the sunken eyes, the skeleton-like head with the skin tightly around the cranium.
00:24:02It was, um, whoa, man, it was mind-boggling.
00:24:04So, um, and she was briefly naked.
00:24:07You could see her breath.
00:24:08And I always, I didn't understand.
00:24:10I just didn't understand that, um, the whole scenario.
00:24:13That was, I covered up, I kissed, I never returned.
00:24:16But I kept telling my sister, um, hey, I'm going there every day.
00:24:20I've been going there every day.
00:24:21But I was out getting high and drinking every night because that knocked, ooh, that took me four.
00:24:26Man, I smoked angels.
00:24:28I really did, man, cocaine.
00:24:29Man, I must, um, I must have been 15.
00:24:32I blew my mind.
00:24:34Um, so one day, um, my sister came home.
00:24:39And, um, I guess I was, I was slept because I was hungover and everything.
00:24:42So I was slept and I was in my underwear and I was walking.
00:24:45And, um, I guess to open the door for her.
00:24:48And as soon as I open the door, she punches me right in my face.
00:24:51Boom!
00:24:52And she said, why didn't you tell me mommy was dead?
00:24:55And I said, oh.
00:24:57And, um, I didn't want to get killed right there.
00:24:59So I said, I didn't want to hurt you.
00:25:00I couldn't tell you.
00:25:01I went there, but I never went.
00:25:04And, um, ooh, I don't know.
00:25:08Um, I couldn't even go down and witness the body.
00:25:10But, um, my cousin, Eric, went with her.
00:25:13Um, it was wild.
00:25:15And, um, I ain't no one going to do that, that point.
00:25:20I'm not into that.
00:25:23Mm-mm.
00:25:26So, um, that was just, um, that was interesting.
00:25:31That was just interesting in my life.
00:25:32That was just a turning point.
00:25:34That, um, that was what happened.
00:25:38That, um, that, um, I was going to be famous.
00:25:44Mr. Rich.
00:25:45Mr. Rich.
00:25:45Mr. Rich.
00:25:45You ever seen a grinder?
00:26:05you ever seen a grinder you know the grinder that you take a wood and you put it in and it
00:26:15comes out the other hand and shreds that's my heart it's grounded beef
00:26:22I don't show you people the guy that somebody wants to take care of
00:26:28or he's weak he's all we can help him he's the underdog I've never been looked at like that
00:26:36I'm a big black nigger and he's semi-beast so be careful he doesn't need help he needs to be locked
00:26:44up when my mother died that's just really overwhelming I didn't care
00:26:52I lived in this play world and it was overwhelming me it was really crushing me at the time
00:27:04in the fall of 1982 Cus the model became Tyson's legal guardian Cus's companion Camille Ewald
00:27:21became his surrogate mother
00:27:22Cus was saying you're not in jail no more you have a chance to make yourself something productive
00:27:29but in the same breath we're still showing him you were still going to get away with things that
00:27:36someone else couldn't get away with you were still going to break the rules because you could punch
00:27:40because now you you had the ability to be a world champion fighter because was playing a dangerous
00:27:46game I thought Teddy had married a young lady we were all kids then and he had a sister-in-law that
00:27:59was a young girl and we were all friends and I guess I was young boy and I was fresh and I grabbed her
00:28:03but she was 11 years old and she was part of my family my wife's family and he uh he kind of uh cornered her
00:28:15into a situation outside the gym in the town and this wouldn't be tolerated I went and found him and I put a gun to his head
00:28:27and pulled the trigger back and told him that he would never put his hands on anyone in my family or
00:28:36do anything like that to anyone in my family again or he'd be dead
00:28:42just to make sure he understood I stuck the gun in his ear and then pulled it out of his ear and shot it off
00:28:49he crumbled away and I told him don't make the mistake again understand that you're not ever
00:28:58going to violate anyone in my family ever ever Teddy Atlas never saw Mike Tyson or Customato again
00:29:05Kevin Rooney took over as Tyson's trainer
00:29:09in March of 85 at the age of 18 Tyson turned pro the first round knockout became his trademark
00:29:38and the TV commentators began equating him with animals
00:29:42the power already for Mike Tyson
00:29:45look at the size of him he looks like the incredible
00:29:47every punch that Mike Tyson throws
00:29:50meant to knock you out
00:29:51what a special run by Mike Tyson here
00:30:08he even posed like the old-time fighters he saw in the movies
00:30:27I have a goal that me cuss Jim Jacobs and my trainer Kevin Rooney all planned and God forbid if anything happened to cuss we're all professionals and we're going to continue and the outcome is going to be the same
00:30:43I often say to him you know I owe you a lot he doesn't know what I mean but I'm going to tell him now what I mean
00:30:52because if he weren't here I probably wouldn't be alive today the fact that he is here and doing what he's doing and doing as well as he's doing and improving as he has gives me the motivation and interest to stay alive
00:31:06and I will stay alive and I will watch him become a success because I will not leave until that happens
00:31:13he was a cold old man had been to a lot
00:31:21I wish he lived long enough
00:31:27I wish he lived long enough
00:31:30Cus D'Amato was 77 when he died in 1985
00:31:35he was the only father Mike had ever known
00:31:51and now what do you do?
00:31:53who do you trust?
00:31:55who do you believe?
00:31:57you're an alien in your own world
00:32:07enter Jim Jacobs
00:32:09Cus' confidant and financial backer
00:32:11Jacobs had paid for Tyson's bills all along but now he had to lend his emotions
00:32:17Tyson embraced him as his protector
00:32:27nine days after Cus died Tyson was back in the ring
00:32:37and the knockouts continued

00:33:09D dates
00:33:11Oh, my God.
00:33:41After 27 pro fights, Mike Tyson would get his title shot.
00:33:46A day with destiny at the age of 20.
00:33:50I'm born to destroy. I'm born to be champion.
00:33:53You know, some big gorilla knocking everybody out.
00:33:56Didn't stand for anything. Didn't really care about anything.
00:34:00Just want to fight everybody, the good people, the bad people, everybody.
00:34:03Just hate you all. You know, just f*** you.
00:34:06Fighting out of Catskill, New York, with 27 wins, no defeats, 25 KOs.
00:34:16He is the challenger, Mike Tyson.
00:34:19There she is.
00:34:24Oh, my God.
00:34:29Oh, my God.
00:34:34Oh, my God.
00:34:46The winner by a TKO, and the new WBC heavyweight champion of the world, Michael Tyson!
00:35:10Enter Don King, Burbick's promoter.
00:35:13He stepped over the body of his beaten champ and began his courtship of Mike Tyson.
00:35:19Six months later, he gave him a coronation.
00:35:22King of the corners of the four square wing, you have won the ultimate championship of the world.
00:35:28You are hereby proclaimed throughout the world as the undisputed heavyweight champion.
00:35:33One man, one crown, one champion. Stand firm and hold fast.
00:35:38I don't have to talk, do I? Because I don't really, I don't know what to say.
00:35:43Long name the king! Long name the king!
00:35:48Long name the king!
00:35:51Long name the king!

00:36:07Long name the king!
00:36:08Long name the king!
00:36:09Long name the king!
00:36:10Long name the king!
00:36:11Long name the king!
00:36:12Long name the king!
00:36:13Long name the king!
00:36:14Long name the king!
00:36:15Long name the king!
00:36:16But you're kind of drowning. You know what I mean? You kind of jump in the pool to save
00:36:19them and you're kind of going under.
00:36:24I wanted to take care of him. He made me want to protect him and have everything be okay
00:36:30for him and he made me want to right every wrong ever done to him.
00:36:36I held him a lot and he'd cry a lot.
00:36:42Michael's a person you could just fall in love with.
00:36:45You know there's really something about him where you're like gaga over him.
00:36:51What the ex-scophage judge say, show me a hero and I'll write you a tragedy.
00:36:55What they build us up just to break us down. The beauty and the beast, that's a great story.
00:37:00But the beauty couldn't train the beast. And he ate her. That's man, come on that's real
00:37:06white to make you look like a evil black monster.
00:37:15You raise a pit bull, then you get mad because it eats the furniture. Fame. It's a cold game.
00:37:25But in this world, it wasn't a good thing. He was controversial enough in the ring.
00:37:36I just wanted to hurt those guys and say nasty things and humiliate them. This is who I wanted to be.
00:37:43What broke him down? Was it just the pressure?
00:37:46Constantly body punching. But I was hitting him with body punching. I heard him, actually he was crying in there, making women gestures like, oh, oh, oh. I can't mind it, but I knew that he was breaking down soon.
00:37:56There's not a man God ever created that could beat me. I just love hearing those words. And he's saying that, he's just great. He's being a little kid saying that, but in actually meaning it.
00:38:11Being 19 little kid saying that to all the grown men. Come on, you want to try me? I'm the best fighter that God ever created or produced. Who want to stand, who want to stand to try a chance with me? But back then I had to come outside for real, a street fight. I was a maniac.
00:38:28I think there's a reason the world loves himself.
00:38:45There's such a lovable side to him. It's really so soft and gentle and, you know, sort of like a bear.
00:38:52The winner, and still the undisputed, undefeated, heavyweight champion of the world, Iron Mike Paysa.
00:39:07I remember him grabbing me and saying, you're going to be my woman and I'm going to love you like no one's loved you, you know, that kind of thing.
00:39:16I was just young. She was young. We were crazy at the time. Two crazy people in love, you know.
00:39:22Too much, too much, too much passion sometimes.
00:39:27When they met, Mike was 21 and Robin was 22.
00:39:31I used to watch Phil Donahue when I grew up on Phil Donahue, you know, and you watch those shows and you think of women that have been hit.
00:39:54You go, oh, my God, that would never happen to me. What's wrong with this woman?
00:39:56I remember the impact.
00:40:03I remember the turn and the hook.
00:40:11He hit me on the side of the head.
00:40:12And I went from one corner of the wall, bounced off that corner of the wall to another corner, and then I was out.
00:40:22I didn't think he would do that. I was shocked.
00:40:34I went from being completely numb to completely embarrassed.
00:40:40I remember thinking, wow, he must really love me.
00:40:43I remember feeling that.
00:40:48I remember feeling that. Not thinking it, feeling it.
00:40:50A few weeks after that episode, Mike and Robin were married.
00:41:00Their life became an open book.
00:41:02Fantastic.
00:41:04Their honeymoon played out before the world press in Tokyo,
00:41:08where Mike and Robin were treated like royalties.
00:41:11And, oh, yeah.
00:41:33There was that Tony Tubbs fight.
00:41:35Tubbs is hurt. Tubbs is hurt, man.
00:41:37It was a left hook.
00:41:41The fight is over.
00:41:44With stunning Swift.
00:41:51Two days later, Tyson rushed to a New York hospital,
00:41:55where his mentor, Jim Jacobs, lied dying.
00:41:58He didn't make it in time.
00:42:01Tyson never got to say goodbye.
00:42:07I love Jacob's.
00:42:13He was a beautiful man.
00:42:16It was all teamwork I believed in my life.
00:42:20He was just awesome, man.
00:42:26Jacob's death left his partner Bill Caton in charge of Mike's career.
00:42:30But Mike didn't really trust or know Bill Caton.
00:42:33At Jacob's funeral in Rodon King,
00:42:45sensing the first real crack in the Catskill connection.
00:42:49Jim was the protector in that world.
00:42:52And a lot of people knew that Michael didn't have a relationship with Bill.
00:42:57So he was pretty much up for grabs.
00:42:59It was like open season.
00:43:00Who's going to get him?
00:43:01Jim, you know?
00:43:04You know, why didn't you let us know?
00:43:06Like, why didn't you prepare us?
00:43:07You know?
00:43:09Because I honestly believe we had no...
00:43:13We weren't prepared for Jim's death.
00:43:16And he hadn't prepared us for what was going to happen.
00:43:19Greed reaches at the deepest core of people.
00:43:27It reaches deep at them.
00:43:29And they're fighting for me and stuff and all that crap.
00:43:32And then that made it easy for Don King to sneak in.
00:43:35And he used...
00:43:37He got me good.
00:43:37He was pretty good.
00:43:39He's a very interesting individual.
00:43:40Not only am I hurt, I've become the bad guy now.
00:43:57I'm just young and I'm emotional.
00:44:01And people are putting cameras in my face.
00:44:03Looking at me like, this is a big, strong guy.
00:44:06The strongest guy in the world going berserk.
00:44:08I'm just a baby, 20, 21 years old.
00:44:11I think he was feeling probably unbelievable amounts of pressure.
00:44:14And I think being in love makes you feel vulnerable.
00:44:22We were both feeling vulnerable, I think.
00:44:24You know?
00:44:25Because we were so dependent in many respects.
00:44:28And I think we just couldn't handle the pressure that we were getting.
00:44:34One time it had gotten pretty bad.
00:44:37And he swung a phone at me.
00:44:39That I knew was going to hit my face.
00:44:43And really, I was...
00:44:45I think I felt the pain before, you know, I didn't have...
00:44:49They're just choking me.
00:44:53They're vomiting and kicking me.
00:44:55Things like that.
00:44:57But he felt bad.
00:44:58I mean, he felt really bad afterwards.
00:45:00You know, he'd cry like a baby.
00:45:02I mean, like a baby.
00:45:03Just cry.
00:45:03I would hold him.
00:45:04I'd hold ice on my face and hold him, you know?
00:45:07And tell him I'm...
00:45:07I would console him.
00:45:09And you would think this is a grown man that has all of his emotional capabilities in him.
00:45:21And together and attack.
00:45:24And it's just not true.
00:45:26It was some kind of love.
00:45:29I mean, the kind you doesn't go away.
00:45:35That kind.
00:45:39I don't know why I wanted to be a renegade in any way.
00:46:01I was just living my life.
00:46:05Being Mike Tyson, doing what I want to do.
00:46:07Just being rebellious.
00:46:09I just wanted the taste of that world, you know what I mean?
00:46:14I wanted that forbidden fruit that everyone else had.
00:46:18But those ordeals, and you say, whoa.
00:46:21Sometimes it's so ironic.
00:46:23Sometimes I think about things that when I was 20, I was 21, and I used to get so nervous.
00:46:27I said, oh, God.
00:46:29What was on my mind?
00:46:30What was I thinking when I was doing that?
00:46:31I want to accomplish greatness.
00:46:35I want to, you know, that's what me and Cus planned to do when we first started.
00:46:39You know, I want to get some closure with myself and get some kind of greatness.
00:46:42I popped on the scene and made it, and the real I became to myself, the more phony everything
00:46:52else was around me.
00:46:54You know, I'm a great manipulator.
00:46:58You have to understand, in order to be the greatest fighter in the world, you have to
00:47:04be the greatest liar in the world.
00:47:06Deep down the sound, I think I'm either an actor, an entertainer crying out.
00:47:11You know what I'm doing?
00:47:12I'm doing it in the ring.
00:47:14I don't know what the hell I am.
00:47:15I'm a nut.
00:47:17Out of the ring, New York became the focus of an investigation of Tyson's finances by his
00:47:23wife and mother-in-law.
00:47:25The newlyweds tried to buy a house and found out they had almost nothing in the bank.
00:47:30Robin and her mother were cast as gold diggers, and the press frenzy began.
00:47:35Is Tyson's business manager, Bill Caton, trying to break the bond of matrimony in order to
00:47:41strengthen his bond with the multi-million dollar fighter?
00:47:44In many respects, Bill tried to throw up smoke screens for what the real issue was.
00:47:48Robin Givens demanded an accounting of her new husband's worth.
00:47:54The Spinks fight was supposed to be Mike Tyson's crowning achievement, the richest fight in
00:47:59history, nearly overshadowed by tabloid journalism.
00:48:07Robin miscarried their first child just two weeks before the fight.
00:48:11Mike was devastated.
00:48:13Robin was accused of lying about the pregnancy.
00:48:15But the show went on.
00:48:21At least it did for 91 seconds.
00:48:23The Serenity
00:48:30The Serenity
00:48:46The Serenity
00:48:49how ironic that in the afterglow of his greatest victory Tyson focused less on
00:48:55the fight and more in the press wasn't really appreciative of what you guys
00:49:01quote the reporters did to me building up to this fight you try to embarrass me
00:49:07try to embarrass my family you try to disgrace us and as far as I know this
00:49:11might be my last fight
00:49:14Mike would say goodbye to the Catskill connection goodbye to the gym where he
00:49:22was born as a fighter goodbye to the men who had shaped and molded him goodbye to
00:49:29Kevin Rooney his trainer he had climbed the mountains and fulfilled Cuss's dream
00:49:35but the man wasn't satisfied with what he had found sometimes the game piss you off
00:49:43and you don't want to play I'm a real um a weird guy once I accomplish something
00:49:51I lose interest in it and I just need um that's my whole outlet in life I need
00:49:57something to do I need something to don't care how much money a guy I need
00:50:01something to do
00:50:09it just started getting dangerous
00:50:11when I say I'm happy everybody's alive in my family like it got dangerous
00:50:18basically like the doctor said if he wasn't going to take his medicine then
00:50:25you're the one that should be coming to see me so now they got to basically say I'm
00:50:30crazy and mentally disturbed I saw a bunch of psychiatrists
00:50:36it made me more up than I was when I first went in there
00:50:42as the battle over Mike Tyson's mental health continues the latest round goes to the champ
00:50:59according to the psychiatrist who examined Tyson this week Mike Tyson's problem or disturbance does
00:51:06not rise to the level of a serious mental illness called manic depressive illness
00:51:19he loves women yeah that was a problem that was a problem for us too
00:51:23the loving women part I remember Michael picking him up one time and actually he had on a white
00:51:31sweatsuit and he had lipstick stains on his crotch I was a pig I've never been um faithful to anyone
00:51:39I've ever met in my life and um it wasn't easy for Robin to live with me either you know what I mean
00:51:45I'm a dirty dog down deep I found a condom that was a terrible feeling
00:51:53I just wanted to live um a reckless life I didn't think no one could be champion better than I could
00:52:04be I could beat any bastard in the planet he hit me but Tyson said green ripped his shirt after
00:52:11hassling him about not getting fully paid for their garden back that's the way I suffered
00:52:16Tyson's car skidded off a wet road and slammed into a tree knocking the fighter unconscious he was
00:52:24taken to a local hospital and then transferred to one in New York City all the while his wife tried
00:52:30to keep the media away I mean he ran the car into the tree and it was an accident but do I think
00:52:44he wanted to kill himself no but he didn't run the car into the tree Tyson left the hospital Wednesday
00:52:50apparently after seeing a psychiatrist then he got on an airplane and flew off to Moscow where his wife
00:52:56will be taping some TV shows in Russia would say I thought somebody was gonna die me or him
00:53:10well I forget what floor we were on but he was hanging over the balcony his fingertips saying he wants
00:53:16to make a comeback I said you can't come come back you're number one you know
00:53:23I don't know how I got him in the room but you think he passed out I think he'd been drinking and
00:53:30he passed out
00:53:35and we flew back
00:53:38and then the next day I did Barbara Walters
00:53:45Michael is a manic depressive he is I mean that's just a fact it's been worse than anything I could
00:53:52possibly imagine it's been pure hell I've become afraid he gets out of I was overwhelmed I was
00:54:01just trying to keep my cool you know I always saw it was just why would they do that to someone like
00:54:07that why would they do it to any human being I definitely regretted it I mean if I could take it
00:54:13back I definitely would like I said I think I thought I was doing a brave thing it was just a very poor
00:54:21judgment on my part police were called to Tyson's Bernardsville mansion by Robin Gibbons who said
00:54:27that Tyson had gone on a rampage we were in the washroom area sort of hiding and he calmed down
00:54:33he said Robin come here and I didn't go
00:54:36I didn't go I didn't that was the first time I didn't
00:54:47you know I didn't go
00:54:49there's two young kids that wasn't supposed to be married in the first place against
00:54:53everybody in the world in your business make you feel like you're in a freak show
00:54:57and you play into it sometimes just you know it's just crazy you know it's just crazy
00:55:04Robin Gibbons fled to California from her husband the heavyweight champion Mike Tyson
00:55:09and today Marvin Mitchelson filed for a given's divorce from Tyson
00:55:24oh man hallelujah oh free at last free at last thank god
00:55:39everybody is fearless
00:55:50two days after Robin left Mike he was baptized in Don King's church
00:55:56by Don King's minister under Don King's rules
00:56:00he told me all those white no good they ain't they have to kill us all they're gonna put us in the
00:56:08holocaust and fry us like they do the jews we gotta fight these oh he told me some good
00:56:14great oh I love that oh yeah we gotta get them they're gonna fry us and I thought believing that they hate us you
00:56:23know and I played into that stuff
00:56:28yeah guys come on guys let me play a little bit so you can get me in there if I can go all right
00:56:50when I was going through my divorce I was just in the state of hysterica
00:57:02it was just awful it was just awful and I got manipulated into a situation and um
00:57:08I don't know I was just very much unhappy um from then on
00:57:13and when I'm pretty much unhappy I'm just very self-destructive
00:57:19Mike knew he was headed for a fall but the rest of the world had no idea
00:57:25Tyson versus Buster Douglas looked like a joke on paper the line was 42 to one
00:57:31with matching coats Mike and Don King arrived with all the smugness everyone expected
00:57:36he'd get millions for knocking out another chunk
00:57:44come one come all because nobody can get close to me they're not even close I'm the best fighter in
00:57:48the world there's not a man god ever created that can beat me there's nobody that can beat me there's
00:57:53nobody nobody's invincible nobody's the greatest fighter of the world
00:58:14Mike Tyson is hurt he got a little overconfident
00:58:17Tyson is holding on
00:58:23there's a right hand uppercut and down goes Douglas
00:58:27as suddenly as that Tyson needed something like that desperately
00:58:32Douglas comes back with a left and a right Tyson is wobbling Tyson needs the ropes
00:58:38without the ropes Mike would have gone down
00:58:39the biggest upset in the history of heavyweight championship fights
00:59:06the greatest upset in boxing history
00:59:10you know sometimes the guy just breaks your will in a way
00:59:18Buster killed me
00:59:21yeah Buster killed me kicked my butt
00:59:26I don't know I didn't train for that fight I didn't really take that fight serious
00:59:29I was um I was uh I was those um Japanese girls like it was um like it was eating grapes you thought
00:59:39I was Caesar you thought I was Caligula when I was out there with in Japan you know
00:59:44they say um these things are blessing and disguises you know what I mean I just believe it was just a
00:59:51temporary setback you know I mean I'm good I'm still the best fighter in the world
00:59:55Mike over here Mike over here Mike over here Mike over here Mike over here Mike
01:00:05what happened in Tokyo well it's a bad situation at the time but I'll be okay Buster Douglas for the
01:00:11great fight and I'll be champion again within six months
01:00:16Mike Tyson wouldn't be champion again for six years
01:00:20no fighter would stop him his lust for women would
01:00:30I said try that again and I'll smack the blank out of you I was like whoa whoa we have a live one
01:00:35here he has to be taught a lesson that he can't treat women any way he wants to he just came at me
01:00:41the next thing I know I'm on the ground
01:00:51Mike Tyson's sister died Denise Anderson she was only 24 years old but she was very obese she
01:00:56weighed more than 300 pounds she died of a heart attack at home in Queens
01:01:05the next day Mike Tyson is back
01:01:23hello my name is Desiree
01:01:29my idea on me is athletic
01:01:30hi I'm Mike Tyson and be sure to watch the Miss Black America pageant on this channel and we will
01:01:39have fun these pretty black girls god
01:01:51oh I'm in a dream day after day beautiful women such an array what can I say
01:02:06an Indiana grand jury has indicted former heavyweight boxing champ Mike Tyson
01:02:10he is charged with raping a woman who was a contestant in this summer's Miss Black America pageant
01:02:15and I was like saying no no get off me get off me please get off me and he was like don't fight me don't fight me
01:02:22and the person was a lot stronger than I was and he just did what he wanted and I was
01:02:27saying stop please stop and he just didn't stop
01:02:31Mike's defense fell to Don King's tax attorney Vince Fuller
01:02:35Fuller had never tried a case like this before but King was confident until the end
01:02:41we're very thankful for the verdict of guilty but I don't think we should lose sight of the fact
01:02:48that this is really a in some ways a tragic moment because two young people's lives have
01:02:53been dramatically affected Desiree Washington knows what happened in the room I know what happened
01:02:57and I know I'm innocent
01:03:12I've never learned to play the game I just was um angry at myself and angry at everybody
01:03:20the judicial system hates me it just hates me for what reason I don't know what the did I do
01:03:35why would you give me three years if the sentence was 63 and you gave me three you knew in your heart
01:03:41I didn't rape anybody you know what I mean
01:03:54I've been convicted for raping somebody I've been charged for raping somebody but I got away with it so to speak
01:04:23because I'm a celebrity I beat some guys up I brutalized some people been to jail I've been all
01:04:28the type of you know really that's telling you I'm I can't vote I'm a I'm a selling I'm paying millions
01:04:35and millions of dollars tens of millions of dollars out of my ass for taxes and um I have no rights
01:04:40and you're such a I don't got a chance in this society
01:04:43when I went to prison it changed my whole outlook in life it really um it really me up
01:04:58my attitude became really ugly and nasty
01:05:05made pretty much of an animal out of me I'm in here for something I didn't do
01:05:10and I'm innocent is every day I'm walking a thin line through hell people come out of prison they
01:05:15come out they come out in worse condition than it was when they first entered jail don't rehabilitate
01:05:21anybody the only thing you're doing there is um multiply hate and hate and hate hate you fall in
01:05:30after three years in prison he again fell in love with don king signing a deal worth over 100 million
01:05:43dollars just days before his release he emerged just after 6 a.m to the glare of hundreds of cameras
01:05:51but the world would see and hear little of mike tyson as he shed the title of inmate number 922-335
01:05:59i'm just so scared now i'm back in society and no one cares either they don't know that that um
01:06:21that um spending jail had an effect on me where i didn't want to come out of jail i felt very
01:06:26comfortable there i was afraid to come home when i left in the end i didn't want to leave i was
01:06:31trying to go back you know um but they wouldn't take me back
01:06:41i was called forever because of this
01:06:45after years of financial abuse by king and his company mike still stayed on the same road
01:06:51king's chartered jet was there to take mike to his new home with don in ohio in prison mike had
01:07:01converted to islam but his religion remained don king
01:07:10it was crazy it was just crazy everything was just too fast wasn't real to me you know what i mean i was
01:07:18just i was just um i was just in a real horrible place and i just came out and everybody just made
01:07:22like i was oh we love you mike they had no ideas um some of the bad habits that um i've picked up
01:07:29and they loved me oh god
01:07:32they told me a lot of dreams not in the world could do when i got out i said no
01:07:46where i trust these guys and i believe um they have my best interest but i didn't understand what's
01:07:53going on really i didn't afternoon in the last three years i had had the chance to reflect on my life
01:08:00and develop my mind and i will continue my journey to making myself a better person i came out with
01:08:06more vengeance than anything i used to have more evil and vengeance you know there's not a lot of
01:08:11speculation about my plan and here they are i will fight again i signed contracts with these people
01:08:16for large sums of money they didn't want to hear nothing they want to hear you need some time to get
01:08:21your mind together and your life together you need this money you have to pay back this money
01:08:25there's no question that when mike was in prison he was effectively bankrupt
01:08:34mike's future was well planned out by don king prior to him getting out of prison
01:08:42he gave trust to him in many many many areas and don managed to ensure that mike had no lawyers
01:08:50no financial advisors and no accountants i was walking him through some of the legal documents
01:08:59just one of which managed to take 43.5 million dollars out of mike's pocket and put it into don's pocket
01:09:08cuss once told me i never forgot that he said hey there's animals disguised as human beings out here
01:09:14you're not sophisticated enough to decipher the two
01:09:21in april of 95 tyson moved his base of operations to las vegas
01:09:33his fights had moved from the mirage to the mgm grand
01:09:37don king has designed a program to get the title back for mike
01:09:41he just needed to keep his client happy
01:09:46like helping mike buy white tigers as pets
01:09:54his house was next to wayne newton
01:09:58by early 96 monica turner his girlfriend from prison days would have their first child
01:10:03there were often times where i felt that there were outside people who kind of manipulated what
01:10:14should have been a personal relationship for their own interests and a lot of the times what was best
01:10:20for mike or best for his family got lost the one the only the legendary mike tyson
01:10:30the mgm grand deal was unique in boxing history
01:10:34it was a 10 fight guarantee which could pay tyson upwards of 150 million if all went right
01:10:40it started out okay
01:10:54first it was mcneely
01:11:04then mathis
01:11:05then bruno and selden all felt like they were supposed to
01:11:19but evander holifield didn't follow the script
01:11:22i was angry and i was very frustrated i lost him the first time
01:11:34i didn't even know how he beat me
01:11:45the second fight i realized he was headbutting me and i realized
01:11:48that's how i felt the first time the dizziness
01:11:51i started feeling the same blackout type of feeling
01:11:54i guess i was angry and i reached out in very um stupided rage
01:12:14i really i regret doing that but wow you know um
01:12:21i was going through a lot i had a lot on my mind and i was fighting a lot of demons
01:12:34saturday night was um the worst night of my professional career as a boxer
01:12:38mike tyson is temporarily suspended i moved that michael gerard tyson's boxing license be revoked
01:12:45and pay administrative fine the amount of three million dollars
01:12:56white society thinks i'm an animal wild beast out of control
01:13:00ready to rape their daughters or hurt them or do something drastic to them
01:13:06i'm just the biggest prick as they are
01:13:08i don't know i'm whatever they want to be i could be a kind regal cat and i can be an
01:13:16raving stalk mad maniac i bet i've been a lot of things i've been many of things and many of people
01:13:22you know what i mean
01:13:41you love me mate i love you all right no no no no get off me get off my hand he without seeing let him
01:13:46cast the first stone now did you ever steal from him in the wake of holofield 2 tyson would sue don
01:13:55king for 100 million dollars alleging king stole from him for years i'm just trying to get out this
01:14:03debt man that don king got me involved with but i'm just trying to get out this debt man
01:14:07he should know he couldn't fight against me
01:14:15ali made him i obtained him and i'm gonna break him did you ever steal from mike tyson never never
01:14:22steal from anyone it's painful because i love the guy you know what i mean i really we're both
01:14:26urchins of the ghetto when we came to the crossroads i took left he took right if tyson was to get out of
01:14:33the debt he would have to get his boxing license back but the specter of the ear bite would haunt him
01:14:40how many times does one individual have to be asked are you sorry for what you did this you know
01:14:47you know what i mean man oh mike just you relax you know mike you you relax you ruined my life
01:14:57internally ruined my life and um
01:15:03do you think i want to do it again
01:15:09stand tall stand proud boxer mike tyson pleaded no contest tuesday to misdemeanor assault
01:15:15he was accused of kicking and punching two motorists after a traffic accident last august mike's never
01:15:20been a threat to the community mike's a very sweet very sensitive very giving person you guys all
01:15:24been told lies by people profiting at mike's expense boxer mike tyson could be back in the ring before the
01:15:31year is out on monday in a four to one split decision the nevada athletic commission gave tyson his
01:15:37license back an emotional mike tyson winning another round in his beleaguered boxing career
01:15:43i was up man you have to admit me i was god man yes i have no idea you guys have no idea
01:15:52bite mr holyfield's ear off and all that stuff you know what i mean you don't care about that no

01:16:16because they had my wife think i'm a punk ass who made me look like a bitch ass and they're humiliating
01:16:21me so really i left because i wasn't even a man in my household no more that's really the real reason
01:16:26i left they made me want to kill them you know but i lined them up same valentine's day action
01:16:40mike tyson now entered uncharted territory
01:16:45while he hired shelly finkel as an advisor
01:16:48he was spinning out of control between depression anger and rage
01:16:57how about the 19 months off what about it what about it does it pose any problem to you
01:17:05we'll see i doubt it seriously you take into the ring a lot of rage you know who cares we're in a
01:17:10fight anyway what what what does it matter well for example rage against uh vanda holyfield worked
01:17:17against you well it's a fight so whatever happens happens mike why do you have to talk like that
01:17:24well i'm talking to you the way i want to talk to you you have a problem turn off your station you know
01:17:30what i think we'll end the discussion right now then we could you got it have a nice fight mike off
01:17:37mike tyson heads toward the same ring he made his disgraceful exit in june of 97. i don't know if
01:17:49i'm prepared to fight um the end of this year or anything just a lot of things that we're going
01:17:55through and i have to be prepared psychologically two big misses by mike tyson another miss with a wild
01:18:03swing tyson continues to miss with those wild left both are off to a tremendous start
01:18:09right here we go again here come the corners here comes security
01:18:26it's bedlam in the ring the two have to be ripped apart at the end of round one
01:18:32what an unbelievable start now they pick it up in round two now this is war
01:18:56both are stumbling around eight nine can he make it it's over it's over
01:19:03mike tyson has returned i'm not afraid to die i'm not afraid to waste my life because when i die i'm
01:19:08going to paradise and i'm not worried so i'm in a hurry to die but no one's going to disrespect me
01:19:12and no one's going to write nonsense about me without me retaliating back
01:19:23retaliation
01:19:26assaulting two guys in a traffic accident would put him back behind bars in the spring of 99.
01:19:33things go really good for a while and then they go the opposite way kind of like a roller coaster
01:19:39but there's just a lot of outside forces that you don't see unless you're in it
01:19:44that happen every day
01:19:45former boxing champion mike tyson is a free man this morning he was released after spending three
01:19:58and a half months in a maryland jail for assaulting two drivers over a fender bender the final obstacle
01:20:04to his release was cleared when indiana judge ended his probation on a 1992 rape conviction
01:20:10a spokesman says tyson will return to the ring
01:20:12people think they see the you know the cars glamour and stuff and they think oh i want to be like
01:20:19him and but it's not easy i don't think they would really want to if they knew what it what it
01:20:25entailed
01:20:29things are getting ugly again it doesn't seem like we're ever going to have a normal
01:20:33oh
01:20:46A barrage by Tyson, the referee John Coyle steps between, and he continues, Coyle's trying to stop it. This fight may be over.
01:21:00I'm the most brutal and vicious and most ruthless champion there's ever been. There's no one can stop me. Lynx is a conqueror. No, I'm Alexander. He's no Alexander. I'm the best ever. There's never been anybody as ruthless. I'm Sonny Liston. I'm Jack Dempsey. There's no one like me. I'm from Nairclaw. There's no one that can match me. My style is impetuous. My defense is impregnable, and I'm just ferocious. I want your heart. I want to eat his children. Praise be to Allah.
01:21:30All right, Steve. You guys could decipher that.
01:21:45See, look. I got this medication, right? It even makes me slur. Like, sometimes I want that for one second. I'm serious, man. Y'all laughing at me.
01:21:54I'm on the Zoloft thing, right? But I'm on that to keep me from killing y'all.
01:22:00I won't talk nice to you and talk about fornicating with you and letting you suck my because if I was eloquent with you, you would still look at me as a scumbag.
01:22:09If I wish one of your guys had children before I could kick them in their head or stomp on their testicles before you could feel my pain, because that's the pain I have, waking up everything.
01:22:17I normally don't do an interview with women unless I fornicate with them.
01:22:24So you shouldn't talk anymore. Unless you want to, you know.
01:22:29There were days and nights that, you know, you're not sure what's going to happen today or tomorrow.
01:22:40I loved them through a lot of ups and a lot of downs, but I couldn't take the hurt anymore.
01:22:48We got along great other than the whole issue of, you know, other women.
01:22:53So I made the decision to file for the divorce because I just got to a point where I couldn't do it anymore.
01:23:00When I was a little kid, people used to barfing me a lot, tease them.
01:23:17As I got older, I started fighting people back.
01:23:29Ever since that expanded, I don't let people f*** with me.
01:23:33Put your mother in the straight jacket, you punk-ass white boy.
01:23:36Come in and tell me if I f*** you and your ass, you punk white boy.
01:23:39You f***. You can't touch me. You're not man enough.
01:23:43I eat your a** a lot, you b***h.
01:23:45F*** you, you ho. Come and tell you my face, I f*** you and your ass for that, everybody.
01:23:50You got man enough to f*** with me.
01:23:52You can't last two minutes in my world, b***h.
01:23:54Look at you scared now, you ho.
01:23:56Scared like a little white m***h.
01:23:58Scared of the real man.
01:24:00I'll f*** you till you love me, f***.
01:24:15You know, nobody really feels for me no more in this world, I guess they just broke me off pretty much.
01:24:41I'm thinking more about what I'm going to do after, b***h.
01:24:43I'm going to work, I'm going to take care of my kids, besides their trust funds and all that s***, you know what I mean?
01:24:49That's what I'm thinking about, I'm going to take care of their kids, my grandkids now.
