00:00America's 250th birthday is a few months away, but the events marking the occasion have already begun.
00:06And if you are a patriot with a pocketful of Andrew Jackson's and Benjamin Franklin's to burn,
00:12you might want to check out the We the People America at 250 auction being held today at Christie's in New York.
00:18The event features historical documents, artifacts, and iconic American art.
00:23The item expected to fetch the most cash is a printing of the Declaration of Independence from 1776.
00:30Now, before you go all Nick Cage on me and want to steal the document, this is not a lost original.
00:35It's a contemporary copy printed by Robert Louis Foll in New Hampshire.
00:40It's pretty pricey for a replica, but a Christie's rep told the Post that its value comes from the fact that back then,
00:46quote, this is the way that everyday Americans would have encountered the Declaration of Independence,
00:51whether it was tacked to a wall or read from the pulpit of their local congregation.
00:55Now, another big ticket item up for sale is the Massachusetts delegate Rufus King's edited draft of the U.S. Constitution printed five days before the final version was issued in September of 1787.
01:08The auction also includes a copy of the Emancipation Proclamation signed by Abraham Lincoln.
