00:00Iran's Foreign Minister has just issued his most direct warning yet to the United States.
00:25And he did it in plain sight.
00:27Not at a rally, not through state TV, but in an opinion piece for the Wall Street Journal.
00:34Iran's Foreign Minister warns Trump, we will fire back.
00:39Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi says Iran is prepared to respond with overwhelming
00:45force if it comes under attack again.
00:48In his words, our powerful armed forces have no qualms about firing back with everything
00:54we have if we come under renewed attack.
00:57Araqchi stressed that this was not a threat, but what he described as a realistic assessment
01:03of Iran's military posture.
01:05Araqchi said Iran showed restraint earlier this year, but warned that restraint should
01:11not be mistaken for weakness.
01:13According to him, any future conflict with the United States would not be limited or short-lived.
01:20He wrote that an all-out confrontation would be ferocious, would drag on far longer than expected,
01:27and would likely pull the entire region into the fighting.
01:30Araqchi repeatedly blamed Israel for escalating tensions between Tehran and Washington.
01:37He claimed that Israel and what he described as its supporters in Washington are pushing
01:43the U.S. toward a war based on unrealistic assumptions—assumptions he says ignore the
01:49regional consequences.
01:51Turning to President Donald Trump, Araqchi said Trump sees himself as a deal-maker, but argued
01:57that his policies have instead produced instability.
02:01He pointed to conflicts across the Middle East and said that lives have been lost in multiple
02:06countries during Trump's current term.
02:09Araqchi also claimed that U.S.-Iran talks in Oman last year came close to a compromise
02:15before collapsing.
02:17He said those talks failed because of political pressure inside Washington, which he attributed
02:22to Israel-linked interests.
02:25On the recent unrest inside Iran, Araqchi rejected allegations of a violent crackdown on peaceful
02:31protesters.
02:32He said the protests were initially recognized as legitimate, but later, according to him,
02:38were overtaken by armed groups and what he called terrorist actors.
02:42Araqchi claimed Iranian police were caught off guard by coordinated attacks and that officers
02:49were killed in brutal ways.
02:51To illustrate the scale, he compared it to 600 U.S. law enforcement officers being killed
02:57in 72 hours.
02:59Independent human rights organizations dispute Araqchi's version of events.
03:04While Iranian officials say around 5,000 people were killed, activists and opposition groups
03:10claimed the number could be significantly higher, with tens of thousands detained.
03:15Those concerns were cited when Araqchi was barred from attending the Davos World Economic Forum.
03:21Despite the warnings, Araqchi insisted that Iran prefers diplomacy.
03:27He said Iran remains open to what he called serious and respectful negotiations, but is no
03:33longer convinced the U.S. shares that approach.
03:36His message to Trump was blunt, try respect.
03:40Araqchi says Iran wants peace, but is prepared for war.
03:45Whether this public warning leads to talks or deeper confrontation remains to be seen.
