And former Brazil and Arsenal midfielder Gilberto Silva, who was in Kuala Lumpur on Wednesday (Jan 21) as part of the FIFA World Cup Trophy Tour, has many reasons to be hopeful that the Selecao can lift the coveted trophy at the 23rd edition of the World Cup taking place in the United States, Mexico and Canada in June.

00:13When you see the trophy, what is the memory behind it?
00:16Oh, there are so many. There are so many, you know, especially in 2002, of course.
00:232002 came to mind first because that's where everything began for me, you know.
00:32I could not be close to this trophy as I am at the moment without 2002.
00:38Because I played two other editions, but we lost, you know.
00:42I came on the right time to the bus. This is what life is about, you know.
00:46You have to take your opportunities. I took mine.
00:50And the Brazil team took that opportunity when we were there.
00:53And, but also, you know, here in Malaysia hold a very special, you know, part of this.
01:02Because we stopped by here to have the final preparation.
01:05It was great, you know, the adaptation to the time zone, etc.
01:10But also we have here, you know, a very nice welcome by everyone.
01:15And coming back here is great, you know. It's very inspired again.
01:20And bringing back, you know, to all of these type of feelings and memories, you know. This is it.
01:28How has the energy from Malaysia friends been since living in Kuala Lumpur?
01:33Oh, it's great, you know, coming back here is fantastic, as I mentioned to your colleague.
01:38Back in 2002, we stopped by here to have our final preparation. It was great. You know, the fans, they were amazing with us.
01:47And today again, as we had an event this morning when I just arrived, it was fantastic to see, you know, the number of people in the event this morning,
01:57waiting for the trophy to be unveiled and waiting for, you know, for the ceremony, everything.
02:05It's nice to see, you know, what really makes me very happy is to see the smile on people's face.
02:14This is priceless for me.
02:16This leads me to say to you, you know, very honestly, there's one thing that is very nice when people ask me,
02:25what is the feeling about winning the World Cup? I never have the answer by myself.
02:33I think the best description for me is when I see the smile on the face of the people, when they see the trophy, when we talk about the World Cup.
02:40This is, I share this moment with them because this, this feeling is not only mine.
02:48I share with all of the people who, I can feel this emotion.
02:53And the way they smile, the way I can see the blink on their eyes, you know, this is very touching.
03:02We have a very good generation of players, you know, when you see them, especially the players in the national team,
03:21most of them are playing in Europe in the best clubs around the world.
03:26And why they are there, you know, if somebody, you know, ask, because they got quality.
03:33They got quality, they are doing well.
03:35And I hope that for the remaining months before the World Cup starts, they can become stronger and even more focused to play another World Cup for the country,
03:51to represent us in the best way as possible and do the best they can.
03:55I think this is what we want from them.
03:57I think the result and they were, to win the trophy will be the consequence for what they do.
04:03But what we always want from them, you know, is the passion, is the desire on the pitch to fight from the first one to the last minute.
04:25And for the first one, I think this is a game, in the first place.
04:30That's the point.
04:32We are all in the last one and the second one, and our first one is the desire on the fourth one.
04:35And another one is the desire on the seventh one.
04:37We want them to find a place for what we want from them.
04:40And the desire to not get the opportunity for them to feel like we're going to be the best one.
