00:00The U.S. House of Representatives Appropriations Committee has released its latest funding bill,
00:06which includes 1 billion U.S. dollars for Taiwan.
00:09The money is earmarked for strengthening Taiwan's self-defense capabilities,
00:13including new equipment and training.
00:15It's in line with U.S. President Donald Trump's previous request,
00:19although some of his asks, like formal joint training to ensure communications between Taiwan and U.S. forces,
00:26were not included in the final bill.
00:28The bill also allocates funds to replace equipment already sent to Taiwan by the U.S.
00:34The U.S. Congress must pass the bill by the end of the month or else face a government shutdown.
