Despite Governor Ignacio Torres’s statements that the blaze in El Hoyo was fully contained, wildfires reignited on Monday in three major areas of Chubut. Fueled by warm winds, high temperatures, and a two‑year drought in the Patagonian mountain range, the fires have devastated Epuyén, where at least 40 homes were destroyed and two neighborhoods evacuated. New outbreaks were reported near Pirque and the Epuyén hills by the lake of the same name, as well as to the northwest. Meanwhile, Torres has faced criticism for attempting to halt donations to volunteer brigades and social organizations providing logistical support and aid to victims.
