00:00all right here's steve kerr at the podium the diagnosis well most of all just disappointed
00:05for jimmy you know he's he's having a great year um i felt like the last couple weeks he was really
00:11um at the top of his game um so for him um and for us obviously but for him individually
00:21uh in the middle of a really great season with a lot of a lot of possibilities a lot of excitement
00:30with the team the way we're playing um i just feel terrible for him that he's um gonna miss the
00:37rest of the year it's just part of the game i know injuries are part of it but um it hurts for sure
00:43how many changes to the rotation how creative do you need to get without him well i think we're
00:52uh we're well equipped with our depth um to continue to to play at a high level i like
01:00the team i think um you know the difference from last year to this year to me is melton and al
01:06horford um not to mention quentin post for a full year you know at this stage last year before we
01:13traded for jimmy um didn't feel like um we had enough um to to really compete i think we have
01:22enough um to compete i think alan and mel have given us a different dynamic i think a lot of our
01:28young players um you know quentin will richard um you know the those guys are ready to contribute
01:37um they have contributed we've got depth um so we can keep this thing going obviously we'll miss jimmy
01:46and he's one of the best players in the league so um you can't minimize that trivial trivialize it
01:53but you you play with who you have and i like who we have how did the team sort of react to the news
02:01and have you guys kind of been able to talk about it yet we haven't talked about it everybody got
02:04the news um you know after we all dispersed last night you you talked last year when when you got
02:12him about how much he changed the team not only structurally but belief level confidence level um
02:17i mean you mentioned you're still confident in kind of the day-to-day here but bigger picture
02:22title contention kind of where y'all are at in in your era uh how do you how do you just look at what
02:29that what this injury does to kind of y'all's situation at this point of your run well you just
02:35look at it matter-of-factly um we we get it uh this is part of part of the nba part of sports um
02:43i'm not going to spend a whole lot of time analyzing where we are in the you know in the food chain of
02:49the nba i'm going to focus on what we can do to win tonight and win the next game and um you know we
02:56have a good vibe going we have a really good rhythm we've found um i think a pattern um of
03:02connecting the game offensively and defensively i think we can continue to do those things and win
03:08games and if we do that we build confidence we build momentum and we keep keep going do you expect
03:15jonathan to be part of the rotation he could be he could be yeah um you know he's uh obviously hasn't
03:21played um in a while but um you know at this point we have to experiment a little bit with
03:29rotations see where we are and he's definitely um you know a part of of that talk that that
03:35conversation steve to that point you've talked to him do you think he wants to be part of the
03:41rotation yeah so you think he he wants to play for you guys still right now i do steve in a situation
03:50like this is it better to get back on the court the next night than to have a couple days to kind
03:54of sit on it i guess with the jimmy situation yeah i mean i don't think there's a there's any way
04:00to spin it into a positive it's just it is what it is the thing with the nba there's always a game
04:06the next night um and so you have to move on quickly no matter what it is whether it's a losing
04:14streak or you know an injury um you know a loss um you know on a personal level like jimmy's the
04:22loss of his season um you know it's um we all feel for him and and uh feel for our team um but we
04:32have to move move forward that's the nature of the the sport uh going back last postseason follow
04:37up on on jonathan he was out of the rotation comes back and plays against minnesota and is
04:41productive is there anything you can take away from that that may apply to his current situation
04:44if he is back in the rotation from last year minnesota he was out of the rotation not really
04:49i mean we um you know that was pretty different because stef was out and um you know every every
04:56set of circumstances um it's different but you know he's been here over four years um so we
05:02work we're comfortable with what he can do and um you know how he might fit in
05:08what are the biggest things that you're going to need to as best you can replace with jimmy out for
05:14the year well we're not going to get to the foul line um nearly as often and that's a big loss i mean
05:20the way that gets us um easy points and sets up our defense um so given that we're going to miss
05:28um a lot of trips to the line um we've got to make sure we're um pushing the ball in transition
05:35uh we've got to get some easy hoops you know some buckets off of our defense
05:40um you figure jimmy i'm guessing he goes to the line eight times a game um i'm not sure we can
05:47replace more than a couple of those you know depending on who we put out there it's just not
05:53apples to apples so um assuming we're going to get five or six fewer free throws a game we got to find
05:59some easy points force some turnovers get out in transition um and make sure we're doing what
06:05we've done the last couple weeks which is taking care of the ball steve for more than a month now
06:09you've had a pretty consistent starting lineup when uh when they have full strength with jimmy out do
06:15you want to continue to have a consistent starting lineup or is it a little bit of trial and error
06:19kind of figuring out how yeah i think there could be some trial and error because you know jimmy's
06:24absence creates a domino effect on the rest of the lineup it's not as easy as just replace them
06:29with one guy and then it it works the same way i mean every player affects the next one and so
06:35we'll start obviously um differently tonight and then we'll see how it goes and we'll we'll we'll keep
06:41going and no i'm not going to tell you who we're going to start let's keep going with that one uh
06:45specifically when we know buller is great with a starting lineup but he is that initiator with a
06:50second group when steph is out i know you probably can't know who would do that or you
06:55don't want to put it all on one person but is melton the most likely person to be that kind of
07:00initiator yeah when steph is out i mean that's probably the you know the biggest thing that we
07:06have to adapt to now um with jimmy's absence so in the non-steph minutes you know of which there are
07:13generally 16 um i would expect melt and brandon both to be on the floor so that they can both handle
07:20and create and uh and we'll need um shooters on the floor so that's a time when al uh quentin post
07:27um moses will richard buddy you know we'll we'll want our shooters on on the floor um you know
07:35around melt and mbp for sure just to open things up and and make sure we can score

07:51regard to how the warriors plan to go forward but he did not want to get definitive and he certainly
07:57did not get definitive on jonathan kaminga when asked would jonathan kaminga be a part of the rotation
08:05steve certainly said he might he could be it could be does jonathan want to be yep i do do you think
08:12that he wants to play i do yeah and also you know he's a part of that i do was a part of that
08:17conversation when it comes to uh the rotation so yeah nothing definitive i don't know if we were
08:22expecting something more definitive but no but i would have liked something more definitive but he's
08:27not he's under no obligation to do that i don't know if it's for competitive reasons or for jonathan

09:07jonathan gonna play he could like and the reason everybody is gun shy is because they've spoken
09:15definitively in the past and then burned each other yeah jonathan is gonna play a ton tonight against
09:21oklahoma city oh oh wait there's a back injury there is i guess or before that like jonathan's back in
09:29the rotation nine minutes and a half minutes and then never again so they've spoken definitively
09:34in the past and then they've ended up with egg on their face so maybe that's why but you're also
09:41right the names he's bringing up when he's talking about the non-step minutes which is i think when it
09:45really starts to resonate the first names he brought up as the offense runs through
09:51d'anthony melton and hold your breath everybody brandon podjemski yeah and he mentioned uh quentin
10:00and he mentioned will you know the other guys who they're all going to play the minutes that they
10:04play and shoot us jimmy butler 31 minutes a game this year over 38 games that he's played so you're
10:11missing out on 31 minutes a night so who takes those minutes well more melt we know that as he gets
10:17healthier uh not hawford tonight he's out will richard gets more post gets more i mean can
10:23kaminga carve out 15 to 20 minutes maybe not you know he's allowed to play but just based on his
10:31tone right there doesn't sound to me like kaminga is going to be in the rotation that's just my read
10:36on it i agree with you it doesn't sound like it tonight it's more like because they asked him will
10:41you search for different rotations now and he said yes so it's like could that lead to jonathan yeah

11:44dang it he said last night gee and draymond he steve kerr accepts expects those two to play tonight
11:52yeah and uh will richard off off the injury report okay good he's available yes the next injury report
11:56comes out in like a minute right correct yeah and this is like this happens sometimes the people in
12:01the room sometimes are so far ahead of us that they know things so they don't think to ask
12:05because we don't know right but they're still listed as questionable
