SO, I'VE ENCOUNTERED THIS ERROR ON MY WINDOWS 10 AND UPON SEARCHING I FOUND THAT IT OCCURED IN ALMOST ALL WINDOWS DEVICES DUE TO THE SMALL CAPACITY OF THE RECOVERY PARTITION. WELL, THE SOLUTION PROVIDED MY MICROSOFT ITSELF DOES NOT FIX THIS ISSUE FOR ME AND IS ALSO REALLY COMPLEX AS IT REQUIRES COMMAND PROMPT UTILITY. SO, I HAD TO FIND A WORKAROUND. THIS IS HOW I FIXED MY WINDOWS UPDATE ERROR. ENJOY!

00:00All right, what's up Amayyan and I have been facing this error very much in the last 10 days or maybe 9 because this error here is very annoying and upon searching that I found this error has been occurring to all of the Windows 10 or 11 users because your recovery partition is apparently too small.
00:22So, as I have retried this, this is the security update for Windows 10 version 22h2 for 64-bit based systems. This is the software update and it is now currently completely downloaded and installing at 0% right now, but let's see.
00:41Now, as you can see here, I have been given the download error and upon searching this code on the web, I found that on the official website of Microsoft, this error occurred on January 9, 2024 update and this is because of this.
00:58This update requires 250 MBs of free speech in the recovering partition because it is somewhat updating some BitLocker files which no one ever uses, but if you are using BitLocker, so this might be crucial for you.
01:12So, on this website, on this link, you see there is the manual resize your partition by 250 MB, but this method is very difficult and complex, so not gonna work for me.
01:26It did not work for me, so I found this method instead.
01:29So, this is the MiniTool Partition Widget.
01:32I will provide all of these links in the description.
01:36This is the graphical way of fixing that error.
01:40So, I am gonna just pause to get downloads.
01:43So, I am gonna download this free tool right now.
01:46It just downloaded.
01:48Wasn't so hard.
01:49So, let's open it up and install this tool.
01:52This will resize your recovery partition to the desired amount that you want.
01:56Simply select English.
01:58Now, I am gonna go with the completely free version, so you do not have to pay anything for it.
02:03Uncheck everything except the first one.
02:06And simply install this tool.
02:09Yeah, I already used that method and it is completely working for me.
02:13Now, I need to show you one thing as.
02:17Why do you need this tool?
02:18You need this tool because your own Windows Disk Partition tool is not gonna fix your recovery partition.
02:24Now, let me show you how, what I mean.
02:27So, right click on this PC and go to manage.
02:34You will see in the disk management, there is this healthy recovery partition.
02:38But, there is no way you can shrink or extend its volume.
02:41But, still you need 250 MB of free space to install and update.
02:47So, let's wait for you to finish the downloading of this mini tool.
02:51This is gonna take some time.
02:52Okay, the download is complete and it is installed.
03:09Let's launch it.
03:11And now, as you can see, this is a user interface.
03:13First, close this ad.
03:14And, here you can see this Windows RE tool system.
03:18This is the recovery partition.
03:21So, we need to see there is only 72 MB of unused space.
03:26So, we're gonna extend it.
03:28So, we can take space from C or E because my local X0 has two partitions already useful.
03:36So, I'm gonna be using C for now.
03:40Let's see if it works or not.
03:41So, this is the size that you wanna select.
03:43So, we just need only 250 MB.
03:46So, we're not gonna select that much.
03:48So, I'm gonna slide it all the way back.
03:52Here we go.
03:54Now, let's see how much we can select.
03:56You can use the arrow keys to select the partition size.
03:59So, I'm gonna do that.
04:00This is neat version.
04:02So, yep, only 250 MB is required.
04:05But, to be on the safe side, I'm gonna select more.
04:09So, I'm gonna be selecting 400 something.
04:13Or, maybe 500 is more than enough.
04:15So, let's select OK.
04:17Now, here you can see there is an arrow and asking you to apply.
04:19Just hit apply.
04:21So, if this does not work, close all these things and then try again.
04:26This is not working for me.
04:27Because, my local Dixie is already in use because I am recording this.
04:32So, I'm gonna have to do another way.
04:36Let me show you how I'm gonna do that.
04:38First, I'm going to close all the applications that are running.
04:42For example, I'm gonna close settings.
04:44This computer management.
04:49Here we go.
04:50I'm gonna also retry but not working for me right now.
04:55Well, let's try something else then.
04:57Let's cancel this operation.
05:01Now, I'm gonna just...
05:03You should select C.
05:05I recommend that you use C.
05:07But, for this, I'm gonna be using the other partition, local disk E.
05:12Because, that's the one available right now for me and it's not being used.
05:17So, I'm gonna go and select more than 250.
05:21I already saying you more than 250 is required.
05:25So, do not go any less.
05:27So, let's select around...
05:35To be on the safe side.
05:38I'm selecting 477.
05:41Or maybe more.
05:43This is more than enough.
05:44Okay, here we go.
05:46Let's select OK.
05:48And hit apply.
05:50So, this will write changes.
05:52Say yes.
05:53This is the work in progress.
05:55And, other changes have been successfully applied.
05:58So, now we have more than 250 MBs of free storage on the recovery partition.
06:05This will be used to update your Windows update.
06:08So, simply just restart your system and come back.
06:12Check for updates.
06:13Let's see now.
06:14Now I have restarted my system.
06:20In disk management.
06:21You can see we got more than enough.
06:24About 1000 MBs on the recovery partition.
06:28Now, let's check for updates.
06:30For Windows.
06:30and see if the solution worked or not now it's checking for updates let's wait
06:36for it to check for updates and we'll be back
06:45okay now we got the updates available let's wait for it to finish the
06:49installation
06:52okay now the install has been completely successful so it's gonna it is just now
07:03asking me to please wait but we're not gonna wait I guess we're just gonna close
07:10the settings and then we're gonna reopen the settings and check for updates again
07:22and now as you can see the update has been installed and my system is now up
07:27to date now let's check for updates once more to be sure
07:44okay now as you can see here you are up to date which means my system is now
07:49currently up to date and there are no so more software bits available now let's
07:53go to mini tool again to see if the partition is being used or not now as you
07:59can see we still got 500 mbs left and we also have 400 something mbs used so but
08:10if you want to get your storage back you just need to shrink the recovery partition
08:16but I will not recommend that you do that let let's keep it as it is so this is
08:23how it's gonna work for you guys anyway that's been it thanks for watching I will
