SheepDog - We All Have Potential For Good Or Evil Within
Transcript
00:00Hello, gang. I just got back from seeing Sheepdog the movie.
00:08Sheepdog starts with the quote,
00:11I am the sheepdog. I protect the flock. I confront the wolf.
00:20What's missing from that is left out has to be considered.
00:28I pray all goes well.
00:33Otherwise, I myself become a wolf others need protection from.
00:40That part's left out. That's not the original quote.
00:44The rest of the story of the original quote, that's my added words.
00:51And the reality of what the film deals in, in part of,
00:56write the old adage,
01:01not becoming that which you fight,
01:06not becoming as bad as the enemy,
01:10not becoming as cold as an enemy calculated,
01:15not becoming evil yourself,
01:18the evil you're fighting.
01:23Anyway, I just wanted to do a quick review.
01:28I give it an A minus.
01:31Well, why the minus?
01:34It's a bit slow in parts.
01:36But, of course, it should be.
01:41It needs to be.
01:42It tries to let scenes and contentions
01:48and the discussion of the human nature,
01:52like I go into in my books,
01:55to float about the room and ruminate and sink in.
02:01So, yeah, it's a little slow, but it's a drama.
02:06It's supposed to be.
02:08It's not an action film.
02:11So, with that being said,
02:15this is an important film for many reasons.
02:18It's not just about veterans.
02:20It's not just about PTSD.
02:24There is metaphorical,
02:27analogical contemplations.
02:32That's not the word I'm looking for.
02:35This is why I write books mainly.
02:38I prefer to write books.
02:39I have weeks or months
02:41that I could take to find the right words to say.
02:44It metaphorically expands
02:49to all kinds of different things
02:52if you're willing to be open and think about it.
02:57And, again, not being emotional.
03:00That's part of the issue.
03:02Us, we're emotional creatures.
03:04We have conflicting diametrically,
03:11is the word I was looking for,
03:12diametrically opposing sentiments at times.
03:17Part of us wants,
03:20normalcy is not the right word either,
03:23part of us wants predictability and comfort.
03:30It's what can make a great marriage.
03:34On the other hand,
03:36the other part of human nature,
03:37the conflicting other side of the coin,
03:41the first part,
03:42we hate change.
03:43The other part,
03:44we crave change.
03:46Boring, been there, done that.
03:48We've already seen that.
03:50We've already done that.
03:51What's next?
03:53Those two are diametrically opposing sentiments,
03:58but are contained in every human being,
04:02which makes it difficult,
04:04which makes marriages work.
04:07You have to work at them.
04:09Anyway, trying to tie it all together,
04:13I, let me be frank,
04:15I wish,
04:15I, I think I have some great lines in my books.
04:19I think they're fairly deep,
04:21but none of them are close to as deep as this movie is,
04:26and the great lines,
04:28and the acting,
04:30of course,
04:30well done,
04:31and Virginia Madsen is one of the actresses in it.
04:36She does a wonderful job.
04:38I highly recommend the movie.
04:41That's why I give it the minus.
04:44Yeah, it's not an action flick.
04:47It's a drama.
04:48So yeah,
04:49a little slower part.
04:50On purpose.
04:52Thank you all.
04:53Take care.
04:53God bless.
