00:00Hey, so Sunny and Karan, welcome to IMS. It's an absolute pleasure to have you on board with us today.
00:06So firstly, tell us, this season with Switzerland looks very intense as compared to the other ones, the previous ones.
00:12What do you have to say about it? How are you looking at it from an audience perspective?
00:19I was watching it from an audience perspective. A lot of different things.
00:24And so I think that it's absolutely crazy. Cuckoo bananas and all of the Splits villains are amazing and crazy all at the same time.
00:38Right, right. And I mean, this season is split into Piaar and Paisa and all of that, right?
00:43So what is your take on, is this real life, if you incorporate Piaar or Paisa, or balance?
00:51I think, I look at it, I look at it, you know, see, as Splitsvilla is Splitsvilla. At the end of the day, it is about love.
00:59It is about, you know, winning the journey. You know, so hook or by crook, everything is fair in love and war.
01:08So it's that season. There are two ways to win the show, you know, either by Piaar, which is obviously there, or through other means, but you have to get there with somebody.
01:18Right. So, as an audience also, I enjoyed being a part of this season.
01:30Okay, okay. You know, when we talk about Splitsvilla, right, it's basically a youth-centric show. And also, as you said, that it's all about love. The show is all about love.
01:42Now, when we talk about youth and love in today's era, how do you perceive it? Because we pretty much belong to the old-school love, kind of, jaha abhi vi, that dedication, that zeal towards that one partner exists. What is your take on it?
01:57My take on it is that love is exactly what you just said. It is all those things. They've made up all these different words. But when you watch it, love is love.
02:09Love is love. A girl wants to know the boy likes her, and the boy wants to know that she likes him. They also want to know that there's no one else, you know, that they're not a second option.
02:21You'll hear this a lot with, even last year, is no one wants to be a second option. But, but this comes down to the basics. The basics are, is that when you meet somebody, you want to know that that person likes you back and they don't have eyes for anybody else.
02:45And they want to get to know you. And they want to get to know you as a person and talk. And we see that kind of love on this, on this season. For sure, 1000%, where it's one girl and that's it. This is my one. You know, and that's nice to see.
03:01Same exactly what she said.
03:04You could correct.
03:06You know, you both have been in this industry for such a long time. And with glamour and clicks all around you, also considering,
03:13yeah, jo piyaar ka aj kal ka panda hai. How difficult or easy is it for you?
03:17For you, in general, for any human in this industry, to kind of sway away. But, and, my loyalty is swaying, how difficult or easy is it for you?
03:26How do you know that you're in the industry? Despite some of a distraction, how do you look at it? And how-
03:33Are you talking about how we handle relationships?
03:36Yeah.
03:37In general, for the youth as well. Because, unko aise labta hai ki, ye kar sakte ta hum kyo nahi. You guys are idols, right?
03:42So, aap, is split sula mein honne ke bavajur bi, aap kaise apne relationships go ikne saado tak apne mentee kar rakha hai? And what's the secret basically?
03:52I'll let him answer first.
03:54So, I think, I think what you're trying to ask is, you know, there's so, being in the industry, there's so many people around you, so many distractions.
04:01I feel, at the end of the day, like, you know, how Sunny said that love is still old school. Once you find the right person, then there's something that, you know, there's no reason, you don't feel the, you know.
04:15In fact, ulta hota hai. I've realized that a lot of people that now I know, you know, reached a certain age, like, you know, Sunny is in a fantastic relationship, she's married, she has kids.
04:25Pack up hota hai na, humara ji hota hai ki kaha hai. Where is, I'm like, where is Teja? You know, where are you? How should be? Should I come here? Should I come there?
04:34Yeah, it's like, I see what hai hai. So, I think it doesn't matter, be it this industry, be it any other industry, once you're in a happy place, in a happy relationship, you just want to, you just get drawn towards each other because that's also your place where you want to be as soon as you finish work.
04:54I think you have to find the right person. And once that happens, then I don't think there are any distractions.
05:00Right, right. Then it's not so difficult. Yeah, it's not difficult.
05:04Right, right. You know, when you say that you try to find the right person, how do you find the right person?
05:11I don't know, I don't know. See, these are things, I think these are things, I don't know how you're going to find the right person.
05:28I don't think, first of all, if you go looking for them, you won't find them.
05:32No. You know, they come, creep into your life in the most unexpected ways.
05:36But it's our job to recognize those people when we meet them.
05:40There's so many people who meet an amazing person and yet they're self-sabotaging or they're doing things that, you know, just don't make any sense.
05:50And you're like, what are you doing? He's a great guy. Is there something wrong?
05:54No, there's nothing wrong with him.
05:56But I think you also have to be open.
06:01Frame of mind.
06:02Yeah. And if you have some healing, we all have things that we need to work on with ourselves in our entire lives.
06:09It's not just right now or our past or,
06:12I'll work on that and then I'll find somebody. It doesn't really work like that.
06:19Sometimes these angels are sent to you and they're there for a reason and, you know, you have to be able to recognize them.
06:26Or just come on, Splitsvilla. We'll figure it out for you.
06:29Yeah, we did some match-fixing.
06:31We did.
06:32We're like, that's it. And all I hear is,
06:34Yeah.
06:35Sonni, no!
06:36Sonni, no! Don't do this.
06:37Same situation which you said right now.
06:38He's showing how much chemistry they're in.
06:40He hasn't shown them.
06:41So we've done a lot.
06:43And we've realized, oh yes.
06:44Yeah, yeah. Everybody thinks like,
06:46we get these comments like, it's scripted and blah, blah, blah.
06:49Yeah.
06:50I heard a lot of, Sonni, no! Sonni, no! Don't do this!
06:54And I'm like, nope, I'm doing it.
06:56Yeah.
06:57So, when you know this is your 10th year in the hosting Splitsvilla,
07:01how have you seen, I mean, according to you,
07:03how has it changed or evolved this entire reality show
07:07from the first time that you hosted to the last 10th year that you do?
07:10How, according to you, has it evolved?
07:11Or how have you evolved as a host?
07:13I think it's all around.
07:15Like, we all evolve.
07:17And depending on what happens the year before
07:20is how we move forward in steps, you know,
07:23for either the next show or for myself or, you know,
07:26how we want to see ourselves.
07:28I think that as time changes, everything around us changes.
07:34And if the show doesn't keep up with what's going on in the rest of the world,
07:39then, you know, the show will fail.
07:41Knock it wood, hopefully it doesn't.
07:43And I think that Splitsvilla and MTV is something, you know,
07:49they do a great job doing that research and figuring out what's going to work.
07:53And our idea for Piyad and Pesa, you know, it came from last year.
07:57So that is evolving.
07:59Right.
08:00Sunny, this question is for you in specific that,
08:03being a mother, how conscious are you while hosting or while selecting a show like Splitsvilla?
08:08Because by chance,
08:12if your kids happen to back into seeing a real on,
08:16because social media is very accessible,
08:18real or probably a glimpse on TV of Splitsvilla.
08:20How do you manage that situation?
08:22And what kind of questions take at all?
08:24So I want to know in what context are you viewing this show to ask the question?
08:28Is there something that you saw that was that you thought was like,
08:33maybe not for kids or for?
08:35No, probably when there's a lot of argument,
08:37when there's a lot of loud noise and probably you're also involved,
08:40they may not understand what is happening.
08:42They may just see the mother is involved.
08:44But what is, why is she?
08:45So I'm not physically ever involved.
08:47Yeah, correct.
08:48But my kids have been coming to Splitsvilla since they were born.
08:53This is also I think their seventh year.
08:58They come to Splitsvilla.
09:00They don't watch the whole show.
09:02They'll watch like one challenge here, one challenge there.
09:05And it wasn't up until last year where they watched a couple of the challenges.
09:13They don't watch any of the domes because it's too late and they go to bed.
09:16But where they understood like what's happening.
09:21And even for them, I mean, they're watching but they don't, I don't know,
09:28I don't feel like there's anything like wrong with what they're watching.
09:31I think 10 years down the line when, you know, Sunny's kids and my kids are going to watch this season,
09:36they're going to be proud of their parents because the kind of heart that we've put into with everything.
09:43Because for us having 32 contestants were literally like our kids.
09:48You know, we've been riding high with their emotions.
09:50We've been trying to explain everything.
09:52So when they look back on a show like this, when they see their parents, they're going to be like,
09:56we have some really kick-ass parents.
09:58Yeah.
09:59They'll be proud of us.
10:00And, you know, if there's any arguments, there was one challenge where the kids were watching
10:05and they were picking up on the smallest details.
10:09Yeah.
10:10And later they go, Mama, she was cheating.
10:12She was cheating.
10:13She didn't follow the rules.
10:15That one didn't throw this thing properly.
10:17That one was yelling this, Mama, why were they fighting?
10:21I go, well, they were fighting because they had to get that ball and they were all going after it together.
10:25And so their perspective, when I explain it, is on their level.
10:31Yeah.
10:32You know, so, I mean, they might not understand what the words that are being used because they can't hear it.
10:37And I think as long as they're watching something and it's from, it's me explaining it to them later,
10:44I think, you know, they love Splits Villa.
10:47Like, it's amazing.
10:49They haven't watched it on TV.
10:51But, you know, they were there watching everybody working.
10:55They were watching the entire, the entire crew knows my children.
10:59They have been meeting them since they were babies.
11:01Like, I have a picture of this, like, the boys are this big in the pool at Splits Villa.
11:07While I was working, they were with me because I couldn't leave them.
11:11They were so small, but they love it.
11:13That's lovely.
11:14I mean, you've got such beautiful memories with the show and your kids associated with it.
11:18Okay, lastly, I wanted to know that we know both your partners are extremely headstrong yet soft at the same time.
11:24How do they manage to keep you grounded in this world of, you know, all the stats and all of that?
11:31Individually.
11:32Because we have seen both of them.
11:34Especially Teja, we know.
11:35Yeah.
11:36She's extremely, like, Big Boss mein dekhliya.
11:38I love her.
11:39She's like, Splits Villa mein, I think, go bhi ho jaani chahi kabhi ho.
11:43So, yeah, coming to the question, how do they kind of keep you grounded in this world of,
11:48I want to hear your answer actually.
11:52I think we both have our roles, we've realized, we've been together for more than four years now.
12:02So, there are certain things that she does well.
12:05Fantastic things.
12:07And there are certain things that I do well.
12:09And if I go, you know, if I, sometimes I'm like a little too lenient with the things.
12:14And she's like, listen, I'm better at doing this.
12:16So, if I try to override her and then she puts me, puts me in my place very well.
12:22She'll be like, this is, this is logic.
12:24And I'm like, sometimes it's also the heart.
12:26She's like, you know, so she has her opinions.
12:29And also, as I said, we're human beings, you know, so sometimes she's right and sometimes I'm right.
12:36Well, 100% of the times she's only right.
12:39But that's the beauty of the relationship.
12:41Amazing.
12:42I like how you accepted it.
12:43Yeah.
12:44I'm waiting for Daniel to do that.
12:49So, Daniel's the business side of things.
12:51He doesn't really get involved with any of the creatives.
12:54And so, that's where we have drawn our lines, where he's like, I'm the business side and you are, you know, you're the creative side.
13:02So, anything that falls under creatives or anything, he's like, I don't want anything to do.
13:06This is in your department.
13:07You deal with it.
13:08I will make this deal happen.
13:10You'll be so happy by the time I'm done.
13:13But you are going to deal with the creative side.
13:16And that's where we have drawn the line, but didn't, you know, spell it out.
13:21And, you know, we do come together for the business sides and, you know, discussing different things that we want to do or different deals and how we need to move forward and business ideas.
13:33But when it comes to my work specifically, being on camera, we, you know, stay separated there.
13:42Yeah.
13:43Okay.
13:44And lastly, why would you want your fans and viewers to watch this season of Splits Villa?
13:48Like, you could put it in like one line each.
13:52Oh, this season of Splits Villa is absolutely banana cuckoo crazy.
13:58We have over 30 Splits Villains.
14:02We have two villas.
14:03We have Pesa, we have Pia, we have Crazy.
14:06We have a lot of hard, a lot of hard work went into this show this year.
14:11So, we hope you like it.
14:13Yeah.
14:14Okay.
14:15That's pretty much it.
14:16Thank you so much for your time.
