00:00:01Oh, look at that!
00:00:03Absolutely phenomenal!
00:00:05Rudy!
00:00:08Welcome to Match of the Day.
00:00:30Well, it may be dry January for some, but our cup overfloweth on Match of the Day tonight.
00:00:55Six games from a brizzy Premier League Sunday,
00:00:58as well as December's Goal of the Month and all the goals from yesterday.
00:01:01And joining me, Shea Given,
00:01:03and making his Match of the Day debut, Gary O'Neill,
00:01:05who scored twice on his Premier League debut,
00:01:07so we are hoping for a similar performance tonight.
00:01:09Yeah, it went all downhill from there, but it was a good start.
00:01:12No pressure, no pressure.
00:01:13A win for Arsenal yesterday opened up a seven-point lead at the top of the table.
00:01:17Manchester City were looking to reduce that gap against managerless Chelsea,
00:01:21who parted company with Enzo Mareska on New Year's Day.
00:01:24Steve Wilson was at the Etihad.
00:01:28In his long managerial career in three countries,
00:01:31Pep Guardiola has never gone successive seasons without winning a league title.
00:01:36That record is under threat.
00:01:38They sit seven points behind Arsenal.
00:01:40It's eight seasons since Chelsea were champions,
00:01:43in which time they've had six full-time managers.
00:01:46Another is incoming.
00:01:48City make three changes to the XI, which drew at Sunderland on New Year's Day.
00:01:53In come Guardiola, Rodri and Reinders for Ake, Nico Gonzalez and Savinho.
00:01:59Callum McFarlane's time in charge of Chelsea will be short,
00:02:03but he makes five changes to the draw with Bournemouth.
00:02:06Caicedo is suspended again.
00:02:08Sanchez injured.
00:02:09Fofana ill.
00:02:10In come Jürgensen.
00:02:11Badia Shield.
00:02:12James.
00:02:13Pedro Neto.
00:02:14Andrao Pedro.
00:02:17Chelsea have lost eight of their last ten games in this stadium,
00:02:21in all competitions.
00:02:23And I don't think many people would favour them here today.
00:02:28Estevão for Chelsea finds Enzo Fernandes.
00:02:31Pedro Neto is on.
00:02:33Here he is.
00:02:37Mathias Nunez ahead of him.
00:02:39Good ball in that, and a chance for Estevão.
00:02:42It's blocked really well by Guardiola.
00:02:46That's the best chance of the game so far, and it goes Chelsea's way.
00:02:50And now Manchester City have the situation under control,
00:02:54and that's a great ball from Mathias Nunez.
00:02:57What a pass that is.
00:02:58Erling Haaland arriving.
00:03:00Phil Foden arriving.
00:03:01Here's Foden.
00:03:03Brilliantly done!
00:03:07Well, this would have been a sensational counter-attacking goal.
00:03:10Great awareness by Foden.
00:03:15Well, they've done really well, Chelsea.
00:03:16They've defended sturdily.
00:03:23Bernardo Silva trying to twist Gusto.
00:03:27And he's succeeded in doing so, and he gets the shot away.
00:03:32Well, great work in a very small area from Bernardo Silva.
00:03:37Manages to work that bit of space quite beautifully.
00:03:41Gets a bit of curl, but not enough dip.
00:03:43Not enough dip.
00:03:50Cherokee's header.
00:03:51Rodri.
00:03:52Foden.
00:03:53Haaland.
00:03:55Deflected!
00:03:56And really well saved by Jürgensen.
00:03:58That big deflection could well have looped over the top of the Chelsea keeper, but he's adjusted here to make a very good save.
00:04:08Philip Jürgensen.
00:04:09Heavy toucher match in Pong, but Rhys James is there.
00:04:24He's only held it up.
00:04:25Rodri.
00:04:26And Erling Haaland!
00:04:28Oh!
00:04:29Goodness me!
00:04:30You don't get any closer than that.
00:04:34Chelsea get a throw in.
00:04:38Chelsea get a throw in.
00:04:42And the post gets a rattling from Haaland.
00:04:46Oh, brilliant really.
00:04:48Very unlucky.
00:04:50His next goal will be his 150th for the club.
00:04:54It won't be long in coming, that's for sure.
00:04:56Chelsea have given the ball away.
00:05:06And Cherokee exchanges the touch with Rodri.
00:05:11Badia Shields touch.
00:05:14Reinders!
00:05:19Great finish.
00:05:22That is a pretty devastating finish from Tijani Reinders.
00:05:27And Manchester City break the deadlock.
00:05:30With four minutes of the first half remaining.
00:05:33Well, this really is a splendid goal.
00:05:36Haaland the threat.
00:05:37Badia Shields kept it from him, but played it straight into Reinders.
00:05:42A little flick off the Chelsea defender as it goes in.
00:05:47Reinders hits it beautifully.
00:05:50Might just be a touch off the toe of Badia Shield.
00:05:53But it flew into the roof of the net.
00:05:56And Manchester City lead by a goal to nil.
00:06:02O'Reilly's cushioned header down.
00:06:04Gusto's nicked it away from Rodri.
00:06:06Well won back by Guardiol.
00:06:08Now Rodri.
00:06:09And Cole Palmer.
00:06:11Guardiol is down.
00:06:12Enzo Fernandes to Palmer's left.
00:06:13And he plays him in.
00:06:14Enzo Fernandes.
00:06:15Lovely little pirouette.
00:06:16And Pedro Neto has missed it.
00:06:17With the goal gaping.
00:06:18And it really should be one each.
00:06:19Well, Guardiol was on the ground throughout that whole Chelsea attack.
00:06:24Which should have resulted in an equalising goal.
00:06:27Enzo Fernandes did well here.
00:06:28Enzo Fernandes did well here.
00:06:29And Pedro Neto simply has to get that on target.
00:06:34Enzo Fernandes got a boot in.
00:06:35But Bernardo Silva would not be denied.
00:06:36Erling Haaland here.
00:06:37Great pace.
00:06:38Tearing away from Canova.
00:06:39Brilliant run, Gablock.
00:06:40What just does it result in an equalising goal.
00:06:41Enzo Fernandes did well here.
00:06:42And Pedro Neto simply has to get that on target.
00:06:54Enzo Fernandes got a boot in.
00:06:57But Bernardo Silva would not be denied.
00:06:59Erling Haaland here.
00:07:00Great pace.
00:07:01Tearing away from Canova.
00:07:04Brilliant run, Gablon!
00:07:09Harland still
00:07:16O'Reilly has failed to keep the ball in play
00:07:20I'll talk about explosive here Erling Harland
00:07:23Collecting the ball a couple of meters inside his own half and just driving on with enormous threat
00:07:31Good block by Badia Shield
00:07:33Gianluigi Donnarumma forward to Erling Harland beautifully cushioned
00:07:40Cherki has got the pace to get away from Santos
00:07:43Bernardo Silva's there brilliant recovery from Harto
00:07:47Well that's outstanding
00:07:50Great flick here from Erling Harland good pace by Cherki too much for Andre Santos look how much ground Jor-El Harto made up
00:08:03Dilap and Cole Palmer and Enzo Fernandes getting forward
00:08:11Here's Jor-El Harto
00:08:19And Dilap good turn tight angled Donnarumma save
00:08:23And those nagging doubts about these three points from Manchester City continue
00:08:30Chelsea have arguably been the more dangerous side in the second half
00:08:35Well snubbered by the Italian
00:08:41Certainly some anxiety around the Etihad right now as Enzo Fernandes
00:08:45Finds Pedro Neto
00:08:50And Jor-El Harto
00:08:52Harto's cross missed by Cole Palmer
00:08:55And Dilap couldn't get anything really meaningful on it
00:09:01That was a real opportunity for Cole Palmer
00:09:05Chelsea have taken only two points from their last eight league games against Manchester City
00:09:09They still live in hope of getting one from this
00:09:13Rhys James six minutes were indicated three of them have been played
00:09:16Here's Gusto
00:09:18Oh excellent got away from O'Reilly there's four in the middle for Chelsea
00:09:22Gusto
00:09:22Dilap couldn't get there surely from Enzo Fernandes for Chelsea
00:09:28It's 1-1 in stoppage time
00:09:31And you cannot say they don't deserve it
00:09:33Donnarumma is beaten
00:09:37Fernandes scores
00:09:39Chelsea and Arsenal celebrate an Enzo Fernandes equaliser
00:09:47There is a check of course possible offside
00:09:52Enzo Fernandes at the second attempt
00:09:56prodded it into the back of the net
00:09:59And the goal will stand
00:10:01It's Manchester City 1-1 Chelsea 1-1
00:10:08Pep very frustrating finish to the game
00:10:10It felt like the control got away from you a little bit
00:10:14Because first half
00:10:16You were 1-0 up it could have been more
00:10:17The control go away for what?
00:10:19Well, I felt you were completely in control of the game at half-time
00:10:24And they changed shape a little bit and the momentum of the game changed a bit
00:10:28I'm not agreeing but it's okay, they scored a goal and that's why you analyze the results
00:10:33So of course they make a step up, we make them more intense in the pressing
00:10:37They had the chances because we lost two balls in the beginning of the second half
00:10:41But if you believe they achieved the momentum, okay, you maybe know better than me
00:10:47We started really well, especially the first half
00:10:49The second half it was a bit more open and went more up and down
00:10:52And still we created some big opportunities and yeah
00:10:56Disappointed that we conceded the goal so late
00:11:00So we will know the week we've had
00:11:02But the boys were focused and yeah in life
00:11:04You either drop your heads or you keep going
00:11:07And for us we knew what the game plan was today
00:11:11We knew what we wanted and yeah, we've done well to get the point
00:11:13It's credit to the players
00:11:16Imagine what they're feeling at half-time
00:11:18Manchester City with a much better team in the first half
00:11:20Interim coach, all the change that's gone on, all the injuries we've had
00:11:23But the character they've shown
00:11:25And they've shown it all week
00:11:26Like Rhys, Enzo, Tosin
00:11:28Like the leaders in the group have really pulled it together
00:11:31So it's a special, special group of players
00:11:33A frustrated Pep Guardiola there because City have dropped four points in their last two matches
00:11:39But Callum McFarlane there had a game plan to frustrate them
00:11:42And it worked largely in the first half
00:11:44Yeah, a rookie manager, you know, one chance in a lifetime to manage against Pep Guardiola
00:11:47Perhaps away at the edge, he had nothing to lose
00:11:49But he had a game plan, he definitely had
00:11:51And City couldn't find a way through
00:11:53They did eventually with rounders
00:11:54But at the same time, this was the game plan here
00:11:56We've seen this for most of the first half
00:11:58You see a 5-4-1 formation, Gabby
00:12:00And now you're asking City, are they good enough to play through these lines
00:12:04Play through the first, they're really nice and compact
00:12:06And you know Callum McFarlane would have worked on this
00:12:08You know, leading up to the game, it's a big day for him
00:12:10But again, there's a lot of turmoil, he says at the football club
00:12:12But there's a clear message, you see the 5 again
00:12:14This time, Rounders
00:12:16Rounders receives the ball
00:12:18Achimpong jumps out
00:12:19But you see then, this opportunity, they do get in
00:12:22But again, they've got enough players back in a defensive position
00:12:24To clear the danger
00:12:26You see in the middle, we'll see Haaland
00:12:27You know, 2v1, there's plenty of bodies back
00:12:29Enough to defend the cross
00:12:31And again, they look comfortable for long periods of the first half
00:12:34Defending against a Manchester City
00:12:36Who we know how good they are going forward
00:12:38I said to Gary Offer, I said
00:12:39At some stage, you'll have to feel a punch when you go to Manchester
00:12:42You see here, they commit six bodies forward, Gabby
00:12:44That's great if you can get a shot off or get a goal
00:12:47But what it does do, if you won the tackle
00:12:49Which they do in the edge of the box
00:12:50Now you're buying in trouble
00:12:51They do get away with it because they won the tackle high up the pitch
00:12:54And you think they've escaped the danger
00:12:56But they never got back into that 5-4-1 formation
00:12:59That we spoke about just previously
00:13:00And City, again, we know how decisive they are in the forward positions
00:13:04They move the ball really quickly, get forward
00:13:06And again, there's a bit of luck at the end of this
00:13:08Because it comes off the defender
00:13:09You see a 4v4 high up the pitch
00:13:11They're really stretched now at this point, Chelsea
00:13:13But they nearly get away
00:13:14A bit of luck, a bit of break
00:13:16And I think Reinders, on your left foot
00:13:18You know, it's a brilliant finish from him because he's right-footed
00:13:20And it's a fantastic finish
00:13:21But again, defensively, I think Chelsea were really strong today in that first half
00:13:26Pep might have alluded to that
00:13:27He didn't think there was a momentum shift
00:13:28But we certainly think there was
00:13:30Because 1-0 down at half-time
00:13:32McFarlane wasn't afraid to make tactical changes
00:13:34No, I think fair play to him
00:13:35Because the easiest part of a manager's job is when you've got time
00:13:38So when you've got the week to build your prep
00:13:40Like the bit that Shea's just covered there
00:13:42You've got days to work on that on the training ground
00:13:44But when it's match day and it's half-time
00:13:46When you're 1-0 down and you need to make a call
00:13:47He didn't back out of making that call
00:13:49You know, to take Esteval off
00:13:51To shift the shape
00:13:53You can see it here
00:13:54They've moved Gusto back into his high right-back position
00:13:56Rather than being on the left
00:13:57Esteval has been withdrawn
00:14:00They've put Santos on to play in that double pivot
00:14:02And it's allowed Enzo to play higher up the pitch
00:14:04And then he used that freedom, Enzo
00:14:06To cause Man City real problems
00:14:08You see here, they regain the ball
00:14:09Cole Palmer rolled in off this right-hand side
00:14:12Like he did so well against PSG in the Club World Cup
00:14:14And now Enzo just using that running power
00:14:17You know, and he's able to break forward
00:14:19And show great quality
00:14:20And then Neto will be disappointed with that
00:14:22Because I know he's better than that from those areas
00:14:24And then the introduction of Liam De Lapp as well
00:14:26Had a real impact on the game
00:14:28Caused the centre-backs of Manchester City problems
00:14:30You see Enzo again here with that running power
00:14:32Driving the team forward
00:14:34Wouldn't have been able to do that in the first half
00:14:36From the lower position he was in
00:14:37Bit of a longer clip
00:14:38But they managed to sustain the pressure
00:14:40Get Enzo on the ball again in a high position
00:14:43And a great ball into Liam De Lapp
00:14:44And he did cause the centre-backs problems
00:14:46When he came on Liam
00:14:47Although Manchester City did lose their two
00:14:49In Guardiola and Diaz
00:14:52They did cause the two that came on real problems
00:14:55And then Gusto, high right-back
00:14:57He's much better on that side than he is on the left
00:14:5994th minute, Enzo still using his power
00:15:02And his running power to get himself
00:15:04In a position that allows Chelsea
00:15:06To take a well-earned point away from the Etihad
00:15:09Which is no mean feat for an interim manager
00:15:11On his first day in charge
00:15:12Yeah, his sixth goal of the season
00:15:14Look what it means to him there
00:15:15And there were some lovely scenes at the end as well
00:15:16We saw with Rhys James obviously
00:15:18Making him go over to the Chelsea fans
00:15:20And you can see as a manager
00:15:21That must be enormously gratifying
00:15:23When you see the difference your changes have made
00:15:25Yeah, and that should not be underestimated
00:15:27Because that's difficult
00:15:28He alluded to it in his post-match speech there
00:15:31Around how the players would be feeling
00:15:33You know, you've been completely dominated by Manchester City
00:15:35You just do that to teams
00:15:36And then to be able to make a change
00:15:39And be able to make the players believe in that change
00:15:41And then to produce numbers like that
00:15:42XG, shots, everything up
00:15:45Touches in the opposition box
00:15:46So Pep might not have felt the momentum change quite so much
00:15:50But the stats definitely showed that there was one
00:15:52Yeah, it might be a short tenure as interim manager
00:15:54Because reports are and we understand that
00:15:57Liam Rossini is already in London
00:15:59Ready to be announced as Chelsea manager
00:16:00Tomorrow the Strasbourg manager
00:16:02Currently where he's been managing and doing fairly well
00:16:06Shea as well
00:16:07153 matches in his managerial career today
00:16:10Including Hull
00:16:11So not the most experienced
00:16:12No, but I think this is Liam's dream
00:16:15I think all his life is that he's managed at the very highest level
00:16:17And at Chelsea is one of the biggest jobs you'll get in the Premier League
00:16:21And maybe in world football
00:16:22And I think he's ready
00:16:23He's managed 153 games
00:16:24He's done his apprenticeship
00:16:26And he's ready to go
00:16:27He managed a young Strasbourg team as well
00:16:29Got them into European competition
00:16:31And I think he'll be buzzing
00:16:34You talk about the squad of players that Chelsea have
00:16:36I know they've spent a lot of money
00:16:38But they've spent well
00:16:38He's worked with young players at Strasbourg before
00:16:41And I think he's eager to jump into this position
00:16:43The group own Strasbourg and Chelsea
00:16:45They know how he works
00:16:46They like the way he sets his team up there
00:16:48He knows how they work
00:16:49That's important
00:16:50Yeah, it will be important
00:16:51And that will be a key part to him taking the role
00:16:53I think
00:16:53And he's, you know
00:16:54The Premier League's tough
00:16:55And he'll find that out
00:16:57But it's much easier doing it with Chelsea
00:16:59And the top players that you have available to you
00:17:00There may be an introduction to the Premier League
00:17:02For a promotion with a newly promoted side
00:17:04So he's going to get a fantastic opportunity
00:17:06At a top club
00:17:07And obviously we'll see very soon
00:17:09Whether he's ready to grasp it
00:17:11Thank you
00:17:12Five more games to come from Sunday
00:17:14After December's Goal of the Month
00:17:15It's Cherokee again
00:17:26Pass comes here to Diaz
00:17:28He's slammed it
00:17:29Oh, what a goal
00:17:30What a strike
00:17:33That was Vincent Kompany-esque
00:17:36Well, it was a belter
00:17:38Wins, wins
00:17:40Wins, wins
00:17:42Can you feel
00:17:43Can you feel
00:17:45Can you feel
00:17:47Wilson
00:17:49Oh, what a goal
00:17:51The link-up play is absolutely sumptuous here
00:17:59It is perfection
00:18:01A bit of space here for Morgan Rodgers
00:18:11Might have a go
00:18:11A goal
00:18:12And it's a brilliant strike as well
00:18:14Rodgers in a lot of space
00:18:20And how about that for a finish
00:18:22It's Senghori who...
00:18:34Oh, what a hit from Senghori
00:18:38What a strike
00:18:42Well, that's an absolute belter
00:18:44Always looks good, doesn't it
00:18:45When he comes in off the post
00:18:47Pre-kick
00:18:52Which Chelsea hope will be a profitable one
00:18:55Rhys James
00:18:56Oh, it is
00:18:57It's outstanding from Rhys James
00:19:00Because that was inch-perfect
00:19:05Can you feel
00:19:07It's falling in me
00:19:09When he gives
00:19:11Given the ball in a
00:19:13Precarious position
00:19:15But he's kept hold of it
00:19:16And Morgan Rodgers has kept it in
00:19:19Head down
00:19:21It's Rodgers
00:19:22It's an absolute ripper
00:19:27He should never score from there
00:19:30From that position
00:19:31Rodgers in red-hot form
00:19:33Dallon with the long throw
00:19:40Voltamada's head
00:19:42Dorgue
00:19:44What a memorable way to score your first Manchester United goal
00:19:53Where ever you feel
00:19:57Can you feel it
00:19:59Can you feel it like this morning
00:20:02Impressing
00:20:02Impressing
00:20:02It's did that well, though
00:20:08Stack
00:20:11Super ball from him
00:20:13Out to Aronson
00:20:13At this forward here leads
00:20:18Aronson
00:20:18Calvert-Lewin
00:20:19Calvert-Lewin
00:20:19It's a fabulous team goal
00:20:27Calvert-Lewin's incredible streak in front of goal continues

00:20:53Having won three of their last four
00:20:56Fulham faced a Liverpool side unbeaten in seven in the Premier League
00:21:00Stephen Wyeth watched this one
00:21:01As the temperature has plummeted
00:21:05Fulham and Liverpool have stayed hot
00:21:08Two form sides
00:21:09The hosts endeavour to keep it up with three changes
00:21:12Kenny Tete is injured
00:21:14So Timothy Castagne replaces him
00:21:16Issa Diop returns
00:21:18And Tom Cairney's reward for the equaliser at Palace
00:21:21Is a rare league start
00:21:22Liverpool's form is their best since spring
00:21:25But they too are stretched
00:21:27A minor hamstring issue means no Ugo Eketike
00:21:30Cody Gagpo starts instead
00:21:32Alexis McAllister and Milos Kerkis
00:21:35Replace Jeremy Fringpong and Andy Robertson
00:21:38Underway a bit behind schedule today at Craven Cottage
00:21:44A 15-minute delay due to a medical emergency
00:21:48Not necessarily a fixture you would associate with Premier League heritage
00:21:52But Fulham against Liverpool in recent times has been a blast
00:21:57Curtis Jones
00:22:00Gagpo's made his run
00:22:03And the flag has stayed down
00:22:04Cody Gagpo is in
00:22:05And the shot has only just bobbled wide
00:22:10And it's the kind of chance that really should have at least resulted
00:22:16In a testing of the Fulham goalkeeper
00:22:18Bernd Leno could watch it go harmlessly white
00:22:21Along the slot side
00:22:24On their best run of unbeaten form
00:22:27Since their last visit to Craven Cottage
00:22:30When Fulham ended a 26-match run unbeaten
00:22:35With a 3-2 win
00:22:37Oh lovely flip Raul Jimenez
00:22:40Wilson is in here
00:22:42And has fired in but from an offside position
00:22:47Well Fulham have really bided their time before
00:22:51Looking to pounce on Liverpool
00:22:53And it very nearly happened for them perfectly
00:22:56Raul Jimenez towards Wilson now
00:22:59That is going to require a much much closer inspection
00:23:04On-field decision was offside
00:23:07But now the VAR Andy Madley is going to get involved
00:23:12Because
00:23:13Virgil van Dijk and Milos Kerkhez
00:23:16Both look like they might have been playing Wilson onside
00:23:20And Fulham are about to receive some very good news
00:23:25Some very welcome news
00:23:27Because the on-field decision was wrong
00:23:30And Fulham do lead
00:23:32Courtesy of a former Liverpool player
00:23:36Harry Wilson in sparkling recent form in front of goal
00:23:41Has scored again
00:23:42Well for a moment it looked like it was too good to be true
00:23:46When Wilson was bearing down on goal
00:23:48That was certainly the initial verdict of the referee's assistant
00:23:54But confirmation
00:23:55Virgil van Dijk the one that was playing him on
00:23:58And that splendid finish
00:24:01Beyond the reach of Alisson is the goal to make it
00:24:04Fulham 1 Liverpool 0
00:24:06Since the start of November
00:24:09Only the top three in the Premier League have picked up more points than Fulham
00:24:14Fulham remains an option
00:24:20Fulham remain well organised
00:24:24From Xobajlai
00:24:29Charged down by Smithrow
00:24:31Corner kick
00:24:32Xobajlai
00:24:39And headed against the crossbar
00:24:42Anderson there
00:24:43Now appeals for a penalty
00:24:46Fulham survive
00:24:47McAllister head in hands
00:24:51Knows how close he was to levelling things up
00:24:54Bradley
00:25:03Pouncing on a loose ball
00:25:05And driving at Fulham
00:25:06And finding Florian Nets
00:25:08And once again
00:25:11The ball finds the back of the net
00:25:15Liverpool discover that
00:25:17It was from an offside position
00:25:19Florian Wertz this time
00:25:20The unlucky player in red
00:25:22Connor Bradley did tremendously well
00:25:25Arguably deserved an assist for his contribution
00:25:28But Wertz
00:25:29Was just beyond Issa Diop
00:25:31This is just being cleared up
00:25:34Just in case
00:25:36Diop's trailing leg was beyond
00:25:39The outstretched right boot of Florian Wertz
00:25:42At the critical moment
00:25:43Once again
00:25:47The on-field decision is going to be overturned
00:25:50And Liverpool have an equaliser
00:25:52And Florian Wertz has another Liverpool goal
00:25:56It has been delivered at a critical moment
00:25:59It has been delivered at a critical moment
00:26:00Belated jubilation in the away end
00:26:03It's a muted celebration from Liverpool
00:26:05Who know there is still work to be done
00:26:07Issa Diop adjudged to have just been playing
00:26:11Florian Wertz on side
00:26:14And just as in the first half of Fulham
00:26:17Liverpool's goal has taken some unpicking
00:26:20But the decision is to award it
00:26:23And it's Fulham 1, Liverpool 1
00:26:25We'll want more than a point now
00:26:30So dominant have his side been in this second half
00:26:34Bradley
00:26:37Robinson
00:26:41Super pass
00:26:44Val Jimenez
00:26:45Looks to be in
00:26:47Alisson has come
00:26:48Not dealt with it
00:26:49Wilson
00:26:49Off the bar
00:26:51Who'll get there first
00:26:53Virgil van Dijk
00:26:54So close Fulham to regaining the leap
00:26:58The direct approach
00:27:00Nearly working so effectively
00:27:03Harry Wilson looking to add to his first half goal
00:27:06Denied by the crossbar
00:27:07And van Dijk it was
00:27:10Who made sure that he got to the loose ball
00:27:13The unbeaten runs have taken Liverpool into the top four
00:27:17And Fulham into European contention themselves
00:27:20Each of the two
00:27:21Has the greater desire
00:27:23And the quality
00:27:24To turn
00:27:26A draw into three points
00:27:29Time running out
00:27:31But there is still time
00:27:33Kravenday
00:27:35Anna Bradley
00:27:39For Frimpong
00:27:41Quality cross required
00:27:42And that is a quality cross
00:27:45Which looks to have produced a match winning moment for Cody Gapbo
00:27:51Liverpool lead
00:27:56Having been behind
00:27:58And in stoppage time
00:28:00At Craven Cottage
00:28:01Appeared to have got the job done
00:28:03The man asked to fulfil the role
00:28:06Of centre forward today
00:28:07Has responded with a goal
00:28:09At a critical moment
00:28:11A vicious delivery
00:28:13That Gapbo was alert to
00:28:16Showing the instincts required
00:28:19To step forward
00:28:22Late on in the game
00:28:23And score for Liverpool
00:28:26A goal
00:28:26That looks to have secured for them
00:28:29A fifth win in eight
00:28:30Having scored
00:28:34And having been cautioned as a consequence
00:28:37Cody Gapbo is going to be withdrawn
00:28:40But he can leave
00:28:42With the acclaim
00:28:43Of the travelling support
00:28:44They feel as though
00:28:46It's job done
00:28:47Robinson's throw
00:28:54To Kevin
00:28:55And then will field defeat
00:28:59Is harsh on them
00:29:00Harrison Reid
00:29:00From distance
00:29:01An exceptional goal
00:29:06From the most unlikely source
00:29:09A how
00:29:11And well
00:29:12Moment
00:29:12From Harrison Reid
00:29:13Just as the points
00:29:15Look gone
00:29:16For Fulham
00:29:17They have responded
00:29:19Almost immediately
00:29:21In the groove
00:29:22Fulham
00:29:23They simply don't know
00:29:24At the moment
00:29:24When they are beaten
00:29:25Sent on
00:29:27To provide
00:29:29Some midfield
00:29:29Energy
00:29:30Late in the game
00:29:31And instead
00:29:32It is Harrison Reid
00:29:34Who has scored
00:29:35The most improbable
00:29:37Late equaliser
00:29:38A near perfect strike
00:29:41Better than anything
00:29:42He could possibly
00:29:43Have dreamed of delivering
00:29:44An exceptional goal
00:29:46To make it
00:29:48Fulham 2
00:29:49Liverpool 2
00:29:50Have you ever hit a ball
00:29:53Better than that?
00:29:54It fell nice off the foot
00:29:55And then it was just
00:29:56Praying it went in the top corner
00:29:57To see it dip in
00:29:58Obviously circumstances as well
00:30:00What an amazing feeling
00:30:01I will tell you
00:30:03I've been practising
00:30:04And training
00:30:04The boys know it
00:30:05They've seen it as well
00:30:06So I just had to get my chance
00:30:08He says he's been practising
00:30:09Is that what you sent him on to do?
00:30:11It's not the first time
00:30:12That you see it
00:30:13To be honest
00:30:13Yesterday of course
00:30:14Is a moment that
00:30:15They use in the end of
00:30:17The minus one session
00:30:18To do it something
00:30:19Of course if you ask me
00:30:21Of course I didn't put him
00:30:22Thinking that he's going to score
00:30:23That goal
00:30:23But of course
00:30:24That is poor inspiration
00:30:25From him
00:30:26And he deserves all the credits
00:30:27I think we fought very hard
00:30:29In the second half
00:30:29We were dominating
00:30:31At moments
00:30:31Trying to create chances
00:30:33To go through
00:30:34And at the end
00:30:36I scored I think
00:30:3790 plus 5
00:30:38The moment I sat down
00:30:40On the bench
00:30:40They scored
00:30:41Wonderful goal
00:30:42To be fair
00:30:42We were 2-1 up
00:30:43And having to defend
00:30:45A long throw in
00:30:46Which we expected
00:30:47And we brought Joe Gomez in
00:30:50Because he's of course
00:30:51He's very good for the air
00:30:52But they didn't take it long
00:30:55They took it short
00:30:56And it was an incredible strike
00:30:58The boys should deserve
00:31:00To get a reward
00:31:01Once in a while
00:31:02But unfortunately
00:31:03We don't get it
00:31:04And the only ones to blame
00:31:06Is ourselves as well
00:31:06Because we concede
00:31:08In these moments
00:31:09But fighting so hard
00:31:11To be 2-1 up
00:31:12It's unbelievable
00:31:14That every time
00:31:15Then the ball goes in
00:31:15In the end
00:31:16But it was
00:31:18A truly magnificent goal
00:31:20Harrison Reid coming in
00:31:21With the heroics
00:31:22Of Harrison Ford
00:31:23With that goal
00:31:24At 92 minutes
00:31:25He comes on the pitch
00:31:2696 minutes
00:31:27I think you just need
00:31:27To wax lyrical
00:31:28I don't think
00:31:29Marco Silva brought him
00:31:30Off the bench
00:31:31For this
00:31:31Probably just to maybe
00:31:32Sew it up
00:31:32Or to try and give it
00:31:33A bit of balance
00:31:34In midfield
00:31:34If Liverpool break away
00:31:36But they set up
00:31:37For a long throw
00:31:37But Reid comes into the picture
00:31:39I mean
00:31:39You know you let the pictures
00:31:41Do this justice
00:31:42This is just a phenomenal strike
00:31:43It's quite funny
00:31:44Harrison said
00:31:45After that
00:31:45I've practised this
00:31:46In training
00:31:46But again
00:31:47That just roider over stuff
00:31:48It really is
00:31:49To get that much dip
00:31:50In movement
00:31:51And Swaz
00:31:51Allison's got absolutely
00:31:52No chance at all
00:31:53And see if it just pops up
00:31:54As he hits it there
00:31:55This is an unbelievable strike
00:31:57I mean Gary
00:31:58You maybe weren't overly happy
00:31:59With the Liverpool defending
00:32:00Yeah and I understand
00:32:02They're set up for a long throw
00:32:03But as soon as Fulham
00:32:04Don't throw it long
00:32:05You have to react
00:32:06To this 4v2
00:32:07You know some of them
00:32:08Liverpool players
00:32:09In the penalty area
00:32:09Need to get up
00:32:10And get some pressure
00:32:11On the ball
00:32:11You can't leave that 4v2
00:32:13For that long
00:32:13And of course
00:32:14You don't expect
00:32:15To be punished like this
00:32:16But boy did Harrison
00:32:17Reid punish them
00:32:18A hell of a throw
00:32:19I'm not sure many of his
00:32:20Practices went
00:32:20Where that one went
00:32:21But the one that mattered
00:32:22Now there's no
00:32:24Alexander Isak
00:32:25We know for Liverpool
00:32:26For a few months
00:32:27Eketike out
00:32:28At the moment
00:32:28Could be back later this week
00:32:29For the Arsenal game
00:32:30On Thursday
00:32:31It's a short term injury
00:32:32So Cody Gakpo
00:32:33Playing in a more central role
00:32:35Today
00:32:35What did you make of his performance
00:32:36Yeah I didn't mind
00:32:37Actually you know
00:32:37I think Arnaslaw talked about
00:32:38Maybe in front of goal
00:32:40We struggled
00:32:40But I think Gakpo done well
00:32:41You keep an eye on him
00:32:43Here on the left hand side
00:32:44But he actually bends his run
00:32:45Here as a centre forward
00:32:46You want to do
00:32:47And he gets through on goal
00:32:48I mean it's just not a great finish
00:32:49At the end of that
00:32:50On his weaker left foot
00:32:51Of course we know him
00:32:51Cutting in on his right
00:32:52He's very strong
00:32:53But again look how central
00:32:54Of the goal
00:32:55And again this is a brilliant header
00:32:56Heads it back where it came from
00:32:57Just a little bit unlucky
00:32:58That it's come back off the woodwork
00:33:00But great movement from him
00:33:01And then again we show
00:33:02That he's involved in the goal
00:33:03I think latter parts of the stage
00:33:04He went out to the left side
00:33:05Kayser went up more central
00:33:06But he's not happy
00:33:06Just to be getting involved
00:33:07In the build up
00:33:08Gabby's thinking
00:33:09Right can we score a goal
00:33:10He makes himself 94-95 minutes
00:33:12Brilliant ball from Frimpong
00:33:13And where is he?
00:33:14Number 9
00:33:15In the middle of the 6 yard box
00:33:16Where you want him to be
00:33:17And he tucks it away nicely
00:33:18And again he thinks
00:33:19He's got the winning goal
00:33:20At this stage before
00:33:22Mr. Reid stepped up
00:33:23And stole the party off
00:33:24But I was happy
00:33:25With Gabby how he played
00:33:27It says he's played before
00:33:28There for PSV
00:33:29He's played there
00:33:29For the Netherlands as well
00:33:30So I think he knows the position
00:33:32OK there was a lot of noise
00:33:33Online about Florian versus goal
00:33:36Of course during the match
00:33:37It was checked for offside
00:33:39Yeah
00:33:39And to the naked eye
00:33:40There are angles
00:33:41Where it does look offside
00:33:42Now from a semi-automated
00:33:44Kind of opinion and position
00:33:46They're happy
00:33:47That with the tolerance
00:33:48That they have
00:33:49With the lines
00:33:50That it is onside
00:33:51Because the advantage
00:33:52When the lines touch
00:33:53Between the last player
00:33:55And the defender
00:33:56Is about 5 centimetres
00:33:58And it's given to the attacking player
00:33:59That kind of advantage
00:34:00Are you happy?
00:34:01All the best Gary
00:34:02Yeah Gabby's done quite well
00:34:03Explaining that there
00:34:04I've had my own battles
00:34:05With VAR
00:34:06And trying to guess
00:34:07As a manager
00:34:08Whether it's on or off
00:34:10But they did make
00:34:11The lines thicker
00:34:12Four years ago
00:34:13I think
00:34:13To try and give an advantage
00:34:14But I think all of us
00:34:16Would say
00:34:16That on the naked eye
00:34:18Florian Wurtz's foot
00:34:19Looks ahead
00:34:20Of Diop's there
00:34:21Florian Wurtz
00:34:22Looks like he's just
00:34:23Drifted into that
00:34:24Lighter cut of grass
00:34:25Whereas we would say
00:34:26Diop looks firmly
00:34:28Planted in the darker cut
00:34:29So you would say
00:34:30That this is probably
00:34:31Going to be disallowed
00:34:32For offside
00:34:33At this moment
00:34:34But when it then turns
00:34:35To the semi-automated view
00:34:37You can see
00:34:39It doesn't quite look the same
00:34:40And it looks like
00:34:41Florian Wurtz
00:34:42Has managed
00:34:42Just to stay
00:34:44The right side
00:34:45Of Diop
00:34:46And whether that tolerance
00:34:47We don't have the
00:34:48Privilege of seeing
00:34:49The lines here
00:34:50But whether that tolerance
00:34:51Of about 5 centimetres
00:34:52Has led to this goal
00:34:53Standing
00:34:54Is a possibility
00:34:55But
00:34:55Florian Wurtz
00:34:57Needs the goal
00:34:57To be fair to him
00:34:58Fulham won't be so pleased
00:34:59Of it
00:34:59But a big goal
00:35:00For Florian Wurtz
00:35:01Marco Silva's reaction
00:35:02Seemed quite measured
00:35:03Yeah I guess
00:35:05The Harrison Reid goal
00:35:06Probably takes the edge
00:35:07Off it
00:35:07A little bit for him
00:35:08And I think
00:35:09As managers and coaches
00:35:11In the end
00:35:12You have to accept
00:35:12That the technology
00:35:13Is there to do its job
00:35:14And we have to accept
00:35:15That at the moment
00:35:16It's doing the best job
00:35:18That it possibly can
00:35:18And it's being interpreted
00:35:19In the best way possible
00:35:20You mentioned
00:35:21That it's been a few years
00:35:21Now that that has
00:35:22Been the way they've been viewed
00:35:23And actually
00:35:24The Premier League
00:35:25Is the only major league
00:35:25Left in Europe
00:35:26That is doing that
00:35:27The others are still
00:35:27Kind of working
00:35:28Or are working
00:35:29To the toenail
00:35:30Yeah so a strong possibility
00:35:31That maybe would have been
00:35:32Disallowed in
00:35:33In some of the other
00:35:34Major leagues around Europe
00:35:35But as it is at the moment
00:35:36The technology has got
00:35:37That one right for us
00:35:38And cleared up
00:35:38A very tight decision
00:35:39You say cleared up
00:35:40I mean we're talking
00:35:41Yeah yeah
00:35:41Cleared up to the best
00:35:42We can
00:35:42Okay
00:35:43Next Leeds United
00:35:45And Manchester United
00:35:47Renew their War of the Roses
00:35:48As the Reds
00:35:49Cross the Pennines
00:35:50To play the Whites
00:35:51Of Yorkshire
00:35:51Your commentator
00:35:52Is Guy Mowbray
00:35:53After today
00:35:57Every team in the Premier League
00:35:58Will have faced
00:35:59All the others this season
00:36:00The opponents
00:36:01Leeds look for first
00:36:03Are the ones
00:36:04They've had to wait
00:36:05For longest
00:36:06There are two changes
00:36:08To the Leeds line up
00:36:09From their New Year's Day
00:36:09Draw at Liverpool
00:36:10With Dominic Calvert-Lewin
00:36:12And Noah Okafor
00:36:13Coming back in to start
00:36:14Lucas Metcher
00:36:16Is a substitute
00:36:16Captain Ethan Ampadu
00:36:18Ruled out suspended
00:36:19And Jadon Bogle
00:36:20Is out with a calf injury
00:36:22For the visiting United
00:36:23Only one difference
00:36:24To their team in names
00:36:26As Leni Jorow
00:36:27Replaces Joshua Zergzi
00:36:28He's on the bench
00:36:30Alongside five teenagers
00:36:32With a whole raft
00:36:33Of senior players
00:36:34Once again absent
00:36:35Leeds waiting to play
00:36:41Manchester United
00:36:42Pales away
00:36:43Compared with waiting
00:36:43To beat them
00:36:44They haven't done that
00:36:45In nine Premier League meetings
00:36:47And in seven overall
00:36:49Since Jermaine Beckford's
00:36:501-0 winner
00:36:51For then League One Leeds
00:36:53At Old Trafford
00:36:5416 years ago yesterday
00:36:56Lamans
00:36:58Nice easy stroke of the ball
00:37:00Offside flag is raised
00:37:03As Matthias Cunha
00:37:04Has a go
00:37:04And scores in fine style
00:37:06But it's not going to count
00:37:08And I'm pretty sure
00:37:13He was offside
00:37:14Maybe not Matthias Cunha
00:37:18But I'm pretty certain
00:37:21Czesco was
00:37:22And he went for the ball
00:37:23To try and help it on
00:37:24Whether he touched it or not
00:37:26Is largely irrelevant
00:37:2622 minutes in and Leeds United
00:37:33Pay tribute to Joshua Pick who
00:37:37Died suddenly
00:37:38Age 22 recently
00:37:40A lead season ticket holder
00:37:41From six years old
00:37:43His dad and sister are here at the game today
00:37:46And we wish them all well
00:37:48Justin
00:37:52Calvert-Lewin
00:37:54Shielding his eyes
00:37:54From the low sun
00:37:56Here's Strauch
00:37:56Stack
00:38:00Calvert-Lewin
00:38:02Off the post
00:38:04So close to scoring again
00:38:08He was inches away
00:38:10From being 1-0 Leeds
00:38:11Through their number nine
00:38:12Once more
00:38:13Just what a striker
00:38:15In Dominic Calvert-Lewin's form
00:38:17Would want
00:38:17Only needed just a little bit more
00:38:20Head on ball
00:38:21That clears Borna
00:38:26Cunha
00:38:27Shaw
00:38:29Two in the box
00:38:31For Cunha
00:38:31Dogu can't attack it though
00:38:33It's turned behind by Goodmanson
00:38:35And after a
00:38:37Spell of Leeds
00:38:38Being in the ascendancy
00:38:40It might be
00:38:40Manchester United's turn
00:38:41For a bit now
00:38:42Luke Shaw
00:38:45To take the corner
00:38:46It's a deep one
00:38:48And it's Casimiro
00:38:49And saved by Lucas Perry
00:38:51Brilliant reaction stop
00:38:53Casimiro
00:38:55On to
00:38:56Lenny Jorow
00:38:57Just trying to
00:38:57Divert it
00:38:58All he could do there
00:39:00Was get it goal bound
00:39:01He did that
00:39:02Lucas Perry in the right place
00:39:04A game that needs
00:39:08A creative spark
00:39:09A game that needs
00:39:11A player of
00:39:12Eddie Gray's abilities
00:39:13He made his Leeds United debut
00:39:1560 years ago
00:39:161st of January 1966
00:39:183-0 against Sheffield Wednesday
00:39:20He scored one
00:39:22And he made two
00:39:23Before assists were a thing
00:39:24What a player
00:39:26Stroke
00:39:28Heaven has a look
00:39:30Aronson is closing in
00:39:31And Aronson is there first
00:39:33And finishes
00:39:35And finishes
00:39:35Ellen Road has erupted
00:39:39Brendan Aronson's
00:39:46Non-stop running
00:39:47Has got reward
00:39:49Aidan Heaven
00:39:51Caught cold
00:39:52A moment for all
00:39:55Leeds young and old
00:39:56To absolutely love
00:39:57Aronson has not always
00:40:00Been flavour of the month
00:40:01Here
00:40:02Right now
00:40:04At this minute
00:40:04He's the toast of the town
00:40:06He wanted it
00:40:08Just that bit more
00:40:09But then he had to find
00:40:11The composure
00:40:12To put it in
00:40:12Brilliantly dispatched
00:40:15And it's Leeds United 1
00:40:16Manchester United 0
00:40:18And Manchester United
00:40:20Now feel the need
00:40:21To make a change
00:40:22Leni Jouro is off
00:40:23Joshua Zerksy comes on
00:40:25Well Aidan Heaven
00:40:27Has performed really well
00:40:28In these seven games
00:40:30Now in a row
00:40:30That he started
00:40:31But there was an aberration
00:40:33You can't switch off
00:40:35In the Premier League
00:40:36And in this fixture
00:40:37Of all fixtures
00:40:38You absolutely must be on it
00:40:41At every second
00:40:42Zerksy
00:40:44Looking for Cunha
00:40:46And Cunha has slid in
00:40:48And slotted it
00:40:49Past Lucas Perry
00:40:50It's 1-1
00:40:52Leeds turn
00:40:55To get it all wrong
00:40:56In defence
00:40:57This is one
00:40:59Of huge importance
00:41:00For Manchester United
00:41:02Czesco won it
00:41:04Laid it off to Zerksy
00:41:05He played a perfectly
00:41:07Weighted pass
00:41:08For Cunha
00:41:09And not for the first time
00:41:11Cunha found himself free
00:41:12And just like
00:41:14Aronson at the other end
00:41:15Well how good
00:41:16Was the finish
00:41:17The game
00:41:19Has been
00:41:20Plugged in
00:41:21From 0-0
00:41:22To 1-1
00:41:23In just under
00:41:26Three minutes
00:41:27Okafor on his way
00:41:33Calvert-Lewin in the middle
00:41:35But so is Heaven
00:41:36Behold got a help on to that
00:41:49Good try
00:41:49Good save
00:41:50Lehmann's forced to spring
00:41:53Into action
00:41:54After Okafor's
00:41:56Acrobatic attempt
00:41:57Great try
00:42:00So Alex Ferguson
00:42:04Was 84 on New Year's Eve
00:42:06He was never going to miss
00:42:08This one
00:42:08Dalot
00:42:11Bugate
00:42:15Zerksy
00:42:16Now Matthias Cunha
00:42:19Luke Shaw
00:42:19Is an extra centre forward
00:42:20In this move
00:42:21Here's Zerksy
00:42:22Zerksy across
00:42:24Czesco's effort
00:42:24Is wide
00:42:25He made good contact
00:42:28With the ball
00:42:28Just maybe hit it
00:42:30Too straight
00:42:31Planted firmly
00:42:33Wide of the post
00:42:34Big chance
00:42:36For Manchester United
00:42:36To take the lead
00:42:37Behold's header
00:42:41Goes straight to Cunha
00:42:42Czesco gets it
00:42:44Through the legs
00:42:44For Zerksy
00:42:45Now it's Dorgu
00:42:47Cunha wants it
00:42:48Cunha has the try
00:42:49And
00:42:50Oh was it saved
00:42:51Or just wide
00:42:52Look at the curl
00:42:56On that
00:42:56From Cunha
00:42:57So so close
00:43:00To
00:43:00Making it 2-1
00:43:01Manchester United
00:43:02It's Justin
00:43:05Who heads forward
00:43:05To Nyonto
00:43:06Lovely ball
00:43:10From Nyonto
00:43:10Here's Stack
00:43:11Piru to the right
00:43:13Stack finds him
00:43:14Piru
00:43:15Under the roof
00:43:17Made his mind up
00:43:20Before the ball
00:43:21Came to him
00:43:21That that's what
00:43:22He was going to
00:43:23Try to do
00:43:24Not far away
00:43:26At all
00:43:27And it is
00:43:29Full time
00:43:30At Elland Road
00:43:31Leeds draw
00:43:33For a third game
00:43:34In a row
00:43:35There's seven
00:43:36Unbeaten now
00:43:37But Manchester United
00:43:38Have only lost
00:43:40One of their
00:43:41Last eight
00:43:41They're much more
00:43:42Resilient away
00:43:43From home
00:43:43These days
00:43:44Leeds United won
00:43:46Manchester United won
00:43:47We are a bit
00:43:50Disappointed
00:43:50Because it was
00:43:51Possibly
00:43:51To win this game
00:43:52You could feel
00:43:53That we were
00:43:53A bit tired
00:43:54Today
00:43:55And also
00:43:56We're missing
00:43:56Many key players
00:43:57It was probably
00:43:58Football-wise
00:43:59Not our best
00:44:00Performance
00:44:00But we found
00:44:01Still a way
00:44:01To defend
00:44:02Really well
00:44:02And to go
00:44:03In lead
00:44:04And it was
00:44:04Definitely possible
00:44:05To win this game
00:44:06For that
00:44:06We are a bit
00:44:07Disappointed
00:44:07But on the other
00:44:08Hand
00:44:08It shows
00:44:09Also
00:44:09It says a lot
00:44:10That you are
00:44:11Disappointed
00:44:11With just one
00:44:12Point against
00:44:12Man United
00:44:13As a promoted
00:44:13Side
00:44:14An important
00:44:15Point for us
00:44:15We talked about
00:44:16This
00:44:16The resilience
00:44:17And then
00:44:18Everyone knows
00:44:19It's so important
00:44:20To the players
00:44:21Who miss
00:44:22Today
00:44:22But we have
00:44:24A big character
00:44:25On the team
00:44:25We need
00:44:25To use the shirt
00:44:27And show everything
00:44:27On the pitch
00:44:28And I think
00:44:29We did it
00:44:30And I hope
00:44:31We can do
00:44:31Much more
00:44:32The next game
00:44:32Yeah
00:44:33We're going to
00:44:33Take it
00:44:33With a ton of
00:44:34Confidence
00:44:35Because you know
00:44:35Where we've been
00:44:36The last month
00:44:37Of games that we've had
00:44:37Going to Liverpool
00:44:38Come back home
00:44:39You know
00:44:40Two away games
00:44:41In Sunderland too
00:44:42They're not easy
00:44:42Places to go to
00:44:43So to stay unbeaten
00:44:44And I think we could
00:44:45Even have more points
00:44:45From these games
00:44:46So we just need
00:44:47To keep going from here
00:44:48Well after the match
00:44:50Ruben Amarim
00:44:51Said this
00:44:51In his press conference
00:44:52I just want to say
00:44:54That I'm going to be
00:44:55The manager of this team
00:44:57Not just the coach
00:44:58And I was really
00:44:59Clear on that
00:45:01And that is going to
00:45:02Finish in 18 months
00:45:03And then
00:45:03Everyone is going
00:45:05To move on
00:45:07That was the deal
00:45:09That is my job
00:45:10Not to be a coach
00:45:12If people
00:45:13Cannot handle
00:45:14The Gary Nevels
00:45:15And the criticism
00:45:16Of everything
00:45:17We need to change
00:45:19The club
00:45:19I came here
00:45:21To be the manager
00:45:22Of Manchester United
00:45:23Not to be the coach
00:45:24And every department
00:45:25The scouting department
00:45:26The sport director
00:45:27Needs to do their job
00:45:28I will do mine
00:45:29For 18 months
00:45:30And then
00:45:30We move on
00:45:31The question he was
00:45:33Responding to
00:45:34Ruben Amarim
00:45:34Was about control
00:45:36At the club
00:45:36And that answer
00:45:37Clearly would
00:45:38Point to discord
00:45:39With regard to the
00:45:41Hierarchy
00:45:41At the club
00:45:42Yeah
00:45:42He's not happy
00:45:43It looks like
00:45:44There's a bit of a
00:45:45It feels like
00:45:46We don't know
00:45:46Obviously
00:45:46It feels like
00:45:47There's a bit of a
00:45:47Fallout between himself
00:45:48And of course
00:45:49Jason Walcox
00:45:50The director of football
00:45:51And he said
00:45:52In numerous cases
00:45:53Two or three times
00:45:53That he's the manager
00:45:54Not just the coach
00:45:56So what that tells me
00:45:57Is he's overseeing
00:45:58Players coming in
00:45:59He's overseeing
00:45:59Maybe players going out
00:46:00Who comes to the club
00:46:01Who doesn't
00:46:01Or he would like to
00:46:02He would like to
00:46:03But maybe that's not happened
00:46:04Maybe it's been
00:46:05Nowhere in January
00:46:06Now the promises
00:46:06Of maybe players coming in
00:46:08Maybe the goalposts
00:46:09Have changed
00:46:09And a lot of
00:46:10You know
00:46:10Gary may tell you
00:46:11But a lot of managers
00:46:11You know
00:46:12They are head coaches now
00:46:13And they've got
00:46:13Heads of heads
00:46:14Doing other things
00:46:15But you look at
00:46:16The great Sir Alex Ferguson
00:46:17He managed that football club
00:46:18Like no other
00:46:19I look at maybe
00:46:20Anunay Emery
00:46:21At Aston Villa
00:46:21It feels like he's
00:46:23Got the final say
00:46:24In everything that comes
00:46:24And goes in Aston Villa
00:46:25And look where they're at
00:46:26In the league
00:46:26And also I'd say
00:46:27If Man United won on
00:46:28Western Ed against Burnley
00:46:29They're up the fourth
00:46:30And if you look at their bench
00:46:31In the last couple of weeks
00:46:32He's got a bunch of kids on there
00:46:33So I don't think
00:46:34He's doing a bad job
00:46:34But it does feel
00:46:35There's a bit of a
00:46:36A bit of a falling out
00:46:37Behind the scenes perhaps
00:46:38What do you think
00:46:38As a manager
00:46:39Sitting in that chair
00:46:40His aim was
00:46:41What was the end game
00:46:42Yeah no
00:46:43I think when you deliver
00:46:43A press conference like that
00:46:45You're obviously trying
00:46:46To make a point
00:46:46He's unhappy about something
00:46:48It's very difficult for us
00:46:49Without knowing
00:46:49The inner workings
00:46:50At the football club
00:46:51And the conversations
00:46:51That go on
00:46:52What he's unhappy with
00:46:54I agree with Shea
00:46:55That there's not much
00:46:57For him to work with
00:46:57At the moment
00:46:58If you look at that bench
00:46:59That Manchester United
00:46:59Are naming
00:47:00They are fifth or sixth
00:47:02In the league
00:47:02And maybe they're not
00:47:03Underachieving too much
00:47:05With what he's got
00:47:05Available to him
00:47:06So I understand
00:47:06His need
00:47:07And his want
00:47:08For more backing
00:47:09But it is a dicey game
00:47:11To play
00:47:12When you're sat in that chair
00:47:13And you start to
00:47:13Criticise people above you
00:47:14Maybe when it's not gone
00:47:16Overly well for you
00:47:17Over the last 18 months
00:47:18But you know
00:47:19He's an intelligent guy
00:47:20Big boy
00:47:21I'm sure he knows
00:47:21What he's doing
00:47:22And if he feels
00:47:23He needs to make a point
00:47:24In that moment
00:47:24Then he has every right
00:47:25To do so
00:47:26I guess recent example
00:47:27Enzo Mareska
00:47:27It didn't quite work out
00:47:28For him did it
00:47:29When he helped
00:47:29No it goes one way
00:47:30Or the other
00:47:30You normally get some support
00:47:31Or it can end
00:47:32Fairly abruptly
00:47:33On the pitch
00:47:33The player that they're
00:47:34Looking to at the moment
00:47:35For creativity
00:47:36And an attacking threat
00:47:37You know very well
00:47:38Matthias Kunja
00:47:38From your time at Wolves
00:47:39Yeah one of my favourite
00:47:41Players that I worked with
00:47:41At Wolves
00:47:42We did an awful lot
00:47:43Of work with him
00:47:43On arriving in attacking
00:47:46Areas that really suited him
00:47:47So Manchester United
00:47:49Have used him
00:47:49In a similar zone
00:47:50But it does still feel like
00:47:52He's carrying a lot
00:47:52Of the burden
00:47:53In the attacking
00:47:54I know they're missing
00:47:54Players at the moment
00:47:55Fantastic finish
00:47:57He's unlucky that
00:47:57Cesco's just
00:47:58Not quite managed
00:47:59To get back
00:48:00From an offside position
00:48:00But shows his quality
00:48:01But here
00:48:02Just a lack of attackers
00:48:04On the pitch
00:48:05From Manchester United
00:48:05And you know
00:48:07Kunja needs people
00:48:08He needs runners
00:48:09To be able to find
00:48:09And he'll find them
00:48:10His right foot's
00:48:11One of the best in the business
00:48:12So there he's only got
00:48:13Cesco
00:48:13And Dorgou's really late
00:48:15To arrive
00:48:15So a fantastic ball
00:48:16Into a dangerous area
00:48:17From Kunja
00:48:18But not enough attackers
00:48:19For him to play with
00:48:20And combine
00:48:21And create things
00:48:22Here Dallow
00:48:23Playing outside
00:48:24Poor ball inside
00:48:25And now Aronson
00:48:26Punishes them
00:48:26On the counter attack
00:48:27And this was the catalyst
00:48:29Really
00:48:29This was the thing
00:48:30That sparked a reaction
00:48:31From Amory
00:48:31And Manchester United
00:48:32Zerksy comes straight
00:48:34Off the bench
00:48:34And literally
00:48:35Instantly
00:48:36You see three attackers
00:48:37Who are able to combine
00:48:38No full backs
00:48:39Playing higher up the pitch
00:48:40Three out and out
00:48:42Attackers
00:48:42And they're able to combine
00:48:44Cesco sets Zerksy
00:48:45Kunja makes that
00:48:46Running behind
00:48:47And we did loads
00:48:48And loads of finishing
00:48:48Drills with him
00:48:49And his right foot
00:48:50When you get him
00:48:50In and around the goal
00:48:51Is deadly
00:48:52He hits the net
00:48:53Time after time
00:48:54Same again
00:48:54Zerksy
00:48:55Cesco
00:48:55They work it between them
00:48:57And then they find
00:48:57The third link
00:48:58Mateus Kunja
00:48:59Once you get him here
00:49:00If he's got a runner
00:49:01He'll find it
00:49:02In the first half
00:49:03He didn't have one
00:49:03Second half
00:49:04Zerksy makes a fantastic
00:49:05Running behind
00:49:06Perfect weight
00:49:07On the pass from Kunja
00:49:08And then Cesco
00:49:09Will be disappointed
00:49:10He should do better
00:49:10Same again
00:49:11Kunja
00:49:12Drops down to him
00:49:14He's got two to combine
00:49:15With two attackers
00:49:15Who he can play with
00:49:16Would probably like more
00:49:17But at least he's got two
00:49:18They combine again
00:49:19Zerksy and Cesco
00:49:21Are able to take
00:49:22The defenders away
00:49:22Gets Mateus Kunja
00:49:24Half a yard
00:49:24And then that
00:49:25One lever right foot
00:49:26Nearly clinches
00:49:27The whole three points
00:49:28For Manchester United
00:49:29But another big
00:49:30Big performance for him
00:49:31And here you can see
00:49:32Like
00:49:32They're not blessed
00:49:34With goals
00:49:34You know
00:49:35Mateus Kunja
00:49:36Four
00:49:36Casemiro
00:49:37Four
00:49:37And then there's
00:49:38Not a lot else
00:49:39In that group
00:49:39And I understand
00:49:40They're missing players
00:49:41But this is
00:49:42Manchester United
00:49:43It's the biggest
00:49:44Or one of the biggest
00:49:44Clubs in the country
00:49:45And you would expect
00:49:46Their starting XI
00:49:47And bench
00:49:48To provide a lot more
00:49:49Goal threat
00:49:49Than it does at the moment
00:49:50So heavily reliant
00:49:51On Mateus
00:49:51And it says a lot
00:49:52About Leeds
00:49:53And their run in
00:49:54December in particular
00:49:55So the reaction
00:49:55Of a lot of the players
00:49:57And the manager there
00:49:58That you know
00:49:58Yes they're happy
00:49:59With the point
00:49:59But they've had
00:50:00Such a good run
00:50:01Since that defeat
00:50:01At the end of November
00:50:02To City
00:50:03They haven't lost
00:50:04A game in
00:50:04Manchester City
00:50:05He was under pressure
00:50:06Daniel Farke as well
00:50:07And they trusted him
00:50:07They stuck behind him
00:50:08Seven unbeaten
00:50:09Eight points clear
00:50:10Of the drop zone
00:50:10He's doing a great job
00:50:12OK we've got plenty
00:50:13More sport coming up

00:55:14Brentford are running riots at the Hill Dickinson Stadium
00:55:22look at that from Jensen
00:55:28Thiago takes charge
00:55:32his second of the afternoon
00:55:35who saw this scoreline coming pre-kickoff
00:55:39is the suspicion of an offside
00:55:42VAR are we having a look
00:55:44onside goal stands
00:55:48I'm not sure that's necessary from Thiago
00:55:52he's hugged Beto
00:55:53well after what David Moyes described as Everton's best performance
00:55:59since his return back to the club
00:56:01away at Nottingham Forest
00:56:03they're following it up with a horror show here against Brentford
00:56:06Garner's ball in
00:56:10decent one
00:56:11net by Tokoski and tipped over
00:56:13by Kelleher
00:56:15decent stop from underneath this crossbar
00:56:19Beto challenges
00:56:26Beto slides in and the decision is Everton throw
00:56:34Grealish
00:56:43beto glances it on and Everton have one back
00:56:47muted celebrations
00:56:51a sterny look from David Moyes
00:56:55is there life in this game yet for the home side
00:56:58it's the first time this season that an Everton player has come off the bench and scored
00:57:05neat header
00:57:07Keller have beaten
00:57:09I think a few minutes ago maybe some Everton supporters were questioning whether or not they should see this one out
00:57:17well that goal certainly changed their minds
00:57:20dams guard
00:57:23only Lewis Potter to aim for so far
00:57:26does find him
00:57:27back to Thiago on a hat-trick
00:57:29and it deflects
00:57:30and into the welcome arms of Jordan Pickford
00:57:34the speed in which Keith Andrews' side transition
00:57:38and they still manage to get a shot on target
00:57:41roll
00:57:46goes low again
00:57:47and here's Thiago
00:57:50he's in
00:57:52on a hat-trick
00:57:54Igor Thiago
00:57:55caps a superb away day
00:58:03for Brentford
00:58:04he secures the match ball
00:58:07and puts an end to this contest
00:58:10Everton were taking risks
00:58:12they were pushing men forwards
00:58:14and look
00:58:16at just how much time and space
00:58:19Igor Thiago has
00:58:21he's got the freedom
00:58:22of the Hill Dickinson Stadium
00:58:24to bear down on Jordan Pickford
00:58:27Everton 1
00:58:29Brentford 4
00:58:31as you can see
00:58:36lots of blue empty seats
00:58:38amongst the home supporters
00:58:40they've seen more than enough
00:58:43Grealish
00:58:47Grealish
00:58:50Barry
00:58:50still time for more goals in this match
00:58:55there hasn't been many positives for Everton here this afternoon
00:59:01but both of their strikers on the score sheet
00:59:04is one
00:59:04Everton 2
00:59:06Brentford 4
00:59:08I thought we were excellent
00:59:12right from the off really
00:59:14played with a lot of personality
00:59:16conviction
00:59:17energy
00:59:18spirit
00:59:19all the aspects of the game
00:59:20that I want to see from our team
00:59:22it come into a very very difficult
00:59:23ground
00:59:25even though it's a new ground
00:59:26difficult club to play against
00:59:27manager to play against
00:59:28who I have
00:59:29a serious amount of respect for
00:59:31so we knew we'd have to earn
00:59:33a result today
00:59:34but I have to say
00:59:35I thought we were excellent
00:59:36disappointment that we didn't play better
00:59:38but
00:59:39no we're just a bit short at the moment
00:59:41in some areas
00:59:42but in areas we lost the goals today
00:59:45we weren't short
00:59:46we've been very strong in those areas
00:59:47but I thought
00:59:48we were disappointed defensively today
00:59:50and
00:59:51certainly not as strong as we have been
00:59:53a word of appreciation for Igor Thiago
00:59:55I'm sure you go against him
00:59:56a lot in training
00:59:57so you'll know about his attributes
00:59:59and
00:59:59a short spell without scoring
01:00:02but back amongst the goals
01:00:03he's just a handful
01:00:04he has a bit of everything
01:00:05he runs in behind
01:00:06he works hard
01:00:06he holds the ball up
01:00:07and he can finish a ball
01:00:08he has everything to be the top striker
01:00:10and if he keeps going like this
01:00:11there's no reason he can't be
01:00:12he's played really well recently
01:00:13and not scored
01:00:14so I always felt that goals
01:00:16would come again
01:00:16it was unrealistic to think
01:00:18he was just going to continue
01:00:19banging in goals
01:00:20left, right and centre
01:00:21week in, week out
01:00:22like he had been
01:00:22so his performance again today
01:00:25was sensational
01:00:26and he truly deserves the accolades
01:00:28that he'll get off the back of it
01:00:29certainly not a typical Brentford performance
01:00:32on the road this season
01:00:33they've lost seven of nine
01:00:34but they were running rampant
01:00:35at the Hill Dickinson
01:00:36today
01:00:37and Thiago in particular
01:00:38off the back of six games
01:00:39without scoring
01:00:40yeah he was excellent Gabby
01:00:41there was no sign of a lack of confidence
01:00:44after not scoring for six games
01:00:46obviously he's been in the goals
01:00:47over the course of the season
01:00:48Everton were poor
01:00:49you know this is not their finest day
01:00:51mistakes as you'll see
01:00:52in the build up to a lot of these chances
01:00:53but proper number nine
01:00:55great movement off the back of the centre half
01:00:56and a fantastic finish
01:00:58and you can see him here
01:00:59his team mate spoke about it there
01:01:01Nathan Collins
01:01:01always wanting to threaten in behind
01:01:03these runs in behind
01:01:04so hard to deal with
01:01:05Pickford manages to save this one
01:01:07but then maybe he learns from that chance
01:01:09where he's smashed it
01:01:10and Pickford's got a hand to it
01:01:11he competes at the top of the pitch
01:01:13and he's a target man for them
01:01:14but now you see him again
01:01:15just threatening in behind
01:01:17that Everton back line
01:01:18and he caused them real real problems today
01:01:20he doesn't get the first one
01:01:21gets this one
01:01:22and that's a great finish
01:01:23to just lift it over Pickford
01:01:24would have been easy
01:01:25to smash it against him
01:01:26another poor ball from Everton
01:01:28and then not well organised
01:01:30behind the ball
01:01:30Everton on that clip
01:01:31and you leave Thiago
01:01:32in this sort of space
01:01:33in the form that he's in
01:01:34and all of us were pretty sure
01:01:35that this was going to end
01:01:36one way in a goal
01:01:37another little dink finish
01:01:39and a Premier League hat-trick for him
01:01:40and well deserved
01:01:42a fantastic performance
01:01:43and look at that
01:01:45he's in very good company
01:01:46he is
01:01:47and I think there's a
01:01:48there's a big tournament
01:01:49coming up in the summer
01:01:50isn't there
01:01:50the World Cup
01:01:51that I'm sure he's got his eyes on
01:01:53because Brazil
01:01:53haven't really ever set
01:01:54number nine for a while
01:01:55and I know he hasn't
01:01:57been called up yet
01:01:57but if he stays on that list
01:01:59and he keeps the company
01:02:00that he's keeping at the moment
01:02:01then it would be very
01:02:02very hard not to take him
01:02:03I mentioned Brentford's
01:02:04away form
01:02:05because actually
01:02:05their league position
01:02:06is very good
01:02:07and it's been built
01:02:07on their home form
01:02:08and Hill Dickinson
01:02:10for Everton
01:02:11at the moment
01:02:12their form there
01:02:13isn't very good
01:02:14is it
01:02:14and having had a good start
01:02:16to their new home
01:02:17things are looking a bit wobbly
01:02:18yeah Moyes said
01:02:19they're short in a few areas
01:02:20and again he'll be looking
01:02:20maybe at the window
01:02:21to try and strengthen
01:02:22but yeah
01:02:22the graph speaks for itself
01:02:24doesn't it
01:02:24I mean they're very
01:02:24Hill Dickinson's a brand new stadium
01:02:26and sometimes the opposition
01:02:27look like they
01:02:28like playing there
01:02:29more so in the home team
01:02:30and sometimes that happens
01:02:31Gabby
01:02:31but David Moyes
01:02:32will want to put that right
01:02:33we know he's a top manager
01:02:33and I'm sure he'll get it right
01:02:35OK
01:02:35Eddie Howe has said
01:02:37that January will be
01:02:38a season defining month
01:02:39for his Newcastle side
01:02:41they begin 2026
01:02:42against another side
01:02:43struggling for forming
01:02:44Crystal Palace
01:02:44commentary comes from
01:02:45Martin Fisher
01:02:46January will be defining
01:02:50it will certainly be tiring
01:02:51nine games
01:02:53over the next 28 days
01:02:55for Newcastle
01:02:55in four different competitions
01:02:57Palace know all about
01:02:59hectic schedules
01:03:00this is their 32nd match
01:03:02of the campaign
01:03:03no Premier League side
01:03:05has played more
01:03:06one change for Newcastle
01:03:08Harvey Barnes
01:03:08replaced by
01:03:09Jacob Murphy
01:03:10who scored in their last
01:03:12two wins here
01:03:13over Palace
01:03:14the Eagles give a debut
01:03:15to Brennan Johnson
01:03:16who only joined them
01:03:18from Spurs on Friday
01:03:19for a club record fee
01:03:21of 35 million pounds
01:03:23neither side
01:03:28in good form
01:03:29at the moment
01:03:29first win in four

01:03:57something that they have
01:03:58struggled with
01:03:59of late
01:04:00Lewis Hall
01:04:01to swing this in
01:04:02for Newcastle
01:04:03it's deep
01:04:04Henderson helps it

01:04:15great save
01:04:16Henderson
01:04:16well it wasn't
01:04:21the greatest
01:04:22of punches away
01:04:23by the
01:04:23Palace goalkeeper
01:04:25at the start
01:04:25of all that
01:04:26but he was
01:04:28in the right position
01:04:29to deal with it
01:04:30when it came back
01:04:31his way
01:04:31from Fabian

01:04:448th goal of the season
01:04:48for Anthony Gordon
01:04:49his first in the
01:04:51Premier League
01:04:52that hasn't come
01:04:52from the penalty spot
01:04:53this season
01:04:54I wonder there
01:04:59if Whistle
01:04:59is actually
01:05:00just ahead
01:05:01of Lerner
01:05:02so tight
01:05:04isn't it
01:05:04cut of the grass
01:05:09it looks ever
01:05:09so tight
01:05:10but it's the
01:05:10shoulder of
01:05:11Whistle
01:05:11that is just
01:05:12ahead
01:05:13of the
01:05:13Palace man
01:05:14it won't

01:05:29for Gimmarais
01:05:30looking for
01:05:31Whistle
01:05:31there
01:05:32and the block
01:05:34was by
01:05:35Canberk
01:05:35Whistle
01:05:38looking sharp
01:05:39timed his run
01:05:40better there
01:05:41than he did
01:05:41earlier
01:05:412025 brought
01:05:45welcome glory
01:05:46for both of these
01:05:47clubs
01:05:47a first domestic
01:05:48trophy
01:05:49and 70 years

01:05:52of silverware
01:05:53in Crystal Palace's history
01:05:55future holds for them
01:05:57in 2026
01:05:58now Hughes
01:06:00Mitchell and Pino
01:06:01to his left
01:06:02Pino through for Hughes
01:06:05who's in
01:06:05oh he should have
01:06:06buried it
01:06:07what a chance
01:06:08for Will Hughes
01:06:09well he doesn't score
01:06:11many
01:06:12but he really should have
01:06:13buried that opportunity
01:06:14lovely way to pass
01:06:16by Pino
01:06:17and from there
01:06:19Hughes somehow
01:06:20puts it
01:06:21wide
01:06:22of the target
01:06:22and look at the
01:06:24reaction of Oliver
01:06:25Glasner
01:06:25now Gordon
01:06:30four round the corner
01:06:32Newcastle with four
01:06:34in the box
01:06:34here's Joe Linton
01:06:35now Whistle

01:06:37and Palace

01:06:40desperate defending
01:06:44but affected defending

01:06:46particularly by Tyric

01:06:47Joe Linton

01:06:53first involvement
01:06:54stopped by Canberk
01:06:58sixth corner
01:07:04that Newcastle
01:07:04have had today
01:07:05none of them
01:07:06have really caused
01:07:07Palace that much
01:07:07difficulty
01:07:08came off the bar
01:07:11that one
01:07:11and by Lorcan
01:07:15his face
01:07:16he intended it
01:07:16look at the swing
01:07:18on that
01:07:19Henderson
01:07:20will argue
01:07:20that he had it
01:07:21covered
01:07:22now a chance
01:07:24for Miley

01:07:36this is where
01:07:38Oliver Glasner
01:07:40will be getting
01:07:41a little concern
01:07:41that Palace
01:07:43are beginning
01:07:43to tire again
01:07:45first phase

01:08:16goal of the season
01:08:17and that
01:08:18matches his best
01:08:19ever tally
01:08:20in the Premier League
01:08:21of two seasons
01:08:22ago
01:08:22it's another goal
01:08:25that Palace
01:08:25have conceded
01:08:26from a set piece
01:08:27it has been
01:08:28there undoing
01:08:29all too often
01:08:30in recent weeks
01:08:32driven in
01:08:34by Murphy
01:08:34Miley
01:08:35for Cher
01:08:36and a header
01:08:38from Barnes
01:08:38brilliantly saved
01:08:39by Henderson
01:08:40it almost bounced
01:08:41to Wissett
01:08:42that Canvo
01:08:44was there
01:08:44for Palace
01:08:45to shove it
01:08:46behind
01:08:46Newcastle
01:08:49pressing hard
01:08:50now
01:08:50for a second
01:08:51goal
01:08:51another
01:08:54dangerous corner
01:08:55Joel Linton
01:08:55got a touch
01:08:56and it's in
01:08:56Malik Chow
01:08:59makes it two
01:08:59to Newcastle
01:09:00and that
01:09:02is that
01:09:02I'm sure
01:09:03from St
01:09:03James's Park
01:09:04another set piece
01:09:06brings another goal
01:09:07against Crystal Palace
01:09:08and once again
01:09:11they have
01:09:12tired
01:09:13significantly
01:09:14the longer
01:09:15the game
01:09:15has worn on
01:09:16real pinball
01:09:18in there
01:09:18for a second
01:09:19or two
01:09:19and it's
01:09:20Chow
01:09:20who gets
01:09:21the vital
01:09:22final touch
01:09:22forward
01:09:27by Gimaraish
01:09:28Barnes
01:09:28looked like
01:09:29he timed
01:09:29his run
01:09:29brilliantly
01:09:30Barnes is in
01:09:31here for
01:09:31Newcastle
01:09:32for number
01:09:32three
01:09:32how was that
01:09:37put wide
01:09:38by Joe
01:09:38Willock
01:09:39Henderson
01:09:41did really
01:09:41well
01:09:42to block
01:09:43the effort
01:09:44from Barnes
01:09:44but it looked
01:09:45like it was
01:09:45just a temporary
01:09:47reprieve
01:09:48as Joe
01:09:49Willock
01:09:49came bursting
01:09:50in from the
01:09:50far side
01:09:51from there
01:09:52Joe Willock
01:09:53has found a way
01:09:54of missing the
01:09:56target
01:09:56but it won't
01:09:57matter
01:09:57Newcastle have
01:09:58come through
01:09:59this one
01:09:59in the end
01:10:00rather comfortably
01:10:01Newcastle 2
01:10:02Palace 0
01:10:03two goals
01:10:05happened
01:10:05from two
01:10:06set plays
01:10:06and that's
01:10:07what we have
01:10:08to solve
01:10:10the problem
01:10:10conceding goals
01:10:11from set plays
01:10:11I think
01:10:11from our last
01:10:12six defeats
01:10:13in five
01:10:14games we just
01:10:15conceded goals
01:10:15from set plays
01:10:16and not one
01:10:17just every single
01:10:17one
01:10:18today two
01:10:18four at Leeds
01:10:19two against
01:10:20Man United
01:10:21one against
01:10:21Tottenham
01:10:22two at Strasbourg
01:10:23so and then
01:10:23you can't win
01:10:25games
01:10:26this is our
01:10:27responsibility
01:10:28it's my
01:10:30responsibility
01:10:30to give the
01:10:31players better
01:10:31solutions
01:10:32that they can
01:10:33defend it
01:10:33in a better
01:10:33way
01:10:34I think we
01:10:34worked really
01:10:35hard at our
01:10:36set pieces
01:10:36and pleased to
01:10:37see them come
01:10:37off and they
01:10:38can win and
01:10:38lose your game
01:10:39so it was a
01:10:40defining factor
01:10:41today when we
01:10:41come in at
01:10:410-0 we know
01:10:42we could play
01:10:43better I thought
01:10:43we did play
01:10:44better especially
01:10:44with the
01:10:45introduction of
01:10:46the substitutes
01:10:46thought they
01:10:47all made a
01:10:47difference and
01:10:48finally we had
01:10:49some sort of
01:10:50strength back in
01:10:50the squad today
01:10:51you could see
01:10:51our bench was
01:10:52much stronger
01:10:55and I think
01:10:55that made the
01:10:56difference
01:10:56so back-to-back
01:10:58wins for
01:10:58Newcastle
01:10:59United and
01:11:00that coincides
01:11:01with two
01:11:02Premier League
01:11:02starts for
01:11:03Johan Wisser
01:11:03he offers
01:11:04something of
01:11:05an ISAC-esque
01:11:06quality to
01:11:07Newcastle
01:11:07you see the
01:11:08difference
01:11:08but yeah I
01:11:11agree totally
01:11:11Gabby and
01:11:13there's a good
01:11:13link-up play
01:11:13with him and
01:11:14Guimarães
01:11:14today you see
01:11:14in the picture
01:11:15he drops deep
01:11:15and Valtomar is
01:11:16good at this
01:11:17as well
01:11:17dropping deep
01:11:17but I like to
01:11:18keep an eye
01:11:19and visit
01:11:19his movement
01:11:19after a striker
01:11:20he drags the
01:11:21centre-half out of
01:11:22position but he's
01:11:23not happy we can
01:11:23get involved in
01:11:24link-up play
01:11:24watch where he ends
01:11:25up here now
01:11:25he probably should
01:11:26score here
01:11:26Johan at the
01:11:27edge of the
01:11:27box
01:11:27you know it's a
01:11:28timid sort of
01:11:29shot at the end
01:11:29of that but
01:11:29again he's got
01:11:30one thought in
01:11:31his mind is to
01:11:32get in the box
01:11:32and again Bruno
01:11:33receives the ball
01:11:34here look at
01:11:34Vista his first
01:11:35thought is can
01:11:36he stretch the
01:11:36opposition can
01:11:37he play down
01:11:38the sides and
01:11:39again a spit
01:11:39like ISAC last
01:11:40season he's
01:11:40done that a lot
01:11:41it's very difficult
01:11:42for defenders to
01:11:43defend against
01:11:43pace and power
01:11:44he was marginally
01:11:44offside in this
01:11:45occasion obviously
01:11:46Gordon with the
01:11:47follow-up but the
01:11:47goal was rightly
01:11:48disallowed again can
01:11:49Bruno play that
01:11:49ball you see
01:11:50Vista peeling on
01:11:51the back of the
01:11:51centre-half that's
01:11:52what he's good at
01:11:53you know occupying
01:11:54the centre-halves
01:11:55and again he
01:11:56doesn't come out
01:11:57to try and link
01:11:57up on the edge of
01:11:58the box but maybe
01:11:58I've ultimately
01:11:58he's getting in the
01:11:59middle of the goal
01:12:00he's the best
01:12:00opportunity to score
01:12:01goals you know
01:12:02Palace just do
01:12:02enough to defend
01:12:03us but again him
01:12:04and Bruno are in
01:12:05the box here
01:12:05trying to score
01:12:06and Eddie
01:12:07mentioned set
01:12:07plays it's a
01:12:08huge part of the
01:12:08game we highlight
01:12:09Bruno in the
01:12:10middle of the box
01:12:11and we should
01:12:11mention Lewis
01:12:12Miley the back
01:12:12who was absolutely
01:12:13brilliant today by
01:12:13the way keeps it
01:12:14alive and you want
01:12:15your captain to step
01:12:16up at a key
01:12:17moment the first goal
01:12:18in any game is so
01:12:19important and again
01:12:20captain fantastic
01:12:21steps up to the
01:12:22plate gets the
01:12:22well important goal
01:12:23and you look at his
01:12:24stats as well he's
01:12:25matched his best
01:12:26goal scoring record
01:12:27already and we're
01:12:28only in January so
01:12:28again such huge
01:12:29important goals and
01:12:31you mentioned Eddie
01:12:31mentioned momentum
01:12:32for this team now
01:12:33back to back ones
01:12:34can they push on
01:12:35they've got some big
01:12:35games coming up
01:12:36Oliver Glasner
01:12:37bemoaning the fact
01:12:38that Crystal Palace
01:12:39can't defend set
01:12:40pieces and they do
01:12:41have a terrible
01:12:42record this season
01:12:43they do I'm sure
01:12:44this is driving him
01:12:45I'm sure this is
01:12:45driving him mad
01:12:46because they're
01:12:47always in games you
01:12:48know they're
01:12:48defensively sound
01:12:49they're well
01:12:49organised well
01:12:50coached but like
01:12:51he said there if
01:12:52you're going to
01:12:52ship this many
01:12:53goals from set
01:12:54pieces over 50%
01:12:55of the goals
01:12:56they've conceded
01:12:56have been from
01:12:57set plays and
01:12:58it's been a real
01:12:59struggle for him
01:12:59and the more it
01:13:00happens the more
01:13:01it becomes a thing
01:13:02because I'm sure
01:13:02he'll do a meeting
01:13:03on it tomorrow or
01:13:04the next day around
01:13:06we need to be
01:13:06better at it and
01:13:07then the lads go
01:13:08out onto the pitch
01:13:09they give a corner
01:13:10away and instantly
01:13:12everyone's thinking
01:13:12oh no another
01:13:13corner you know we've
01:13:14struggled off these
01:13:15this season so the
01:13:16quicker they fix it
01:13:17the better easier
01:13:18said than done
01:13:18but I'm sure
01:13:20Glasgow will be
01:13:20working hard at it
01:13:21OK thank you
01:13:22Tottenham staggered
01:13:23into 2026 with a
01:13:25goalless draw of
01:13:25Brentford on New
01:13:26Year's Day their
01:13:27first in 137 Premier
01:13:28League games they
01:13:29were hoping for
01:13:30better at home to
01:13:31upwardly mobile
01:13:32Sunderland your
01:13:33commentator Robin
01:13:34Cowan
01:13:35goalless draws for both
01:13:37Spurs and Sunderland to
01:13:38begin the new year but
01:13:39the mood from the
01:13:40respective fan bases
01:13:41couldn't be more
01:13:42different Tottenham's
01:13:43travelling fans were
01:13:44vociferous in their
01:13:45dissatisfaction and
01:13:46another toothless
01:13:47display in response
01:13:48Thomas Frank has
01:13:49replaced a holding
01:13:50midfielder in
01:13:51Jao Polina with a
01:13:52more attack minded
01:13:53Matthias Tell the
01:13:54other change sees
01:13:55Ben Davis make just
01:13:56his second Premier
01:13:57League appearance of
01:13:57the season and first
01:13:59from the start
01:14:00Sunderland have taken
01:14:01points of all of the
01:14:02current top four in
01:14:03the Premier League
01:14:04Manchester City the
01:14:05latest side to leave
01:14:06the stadium of light
01:14:07frustrated Regis
01:14:08Libris names the
01:14:09same eleven with
01:14:10this a fixture former
01:14:11Arsenal man Granit
01:14:12Xhaka will have been
01:14:13especially looking
01:14:14forward to
01:14:14Archie Gray
01:14:20given away but
01:14:23Granit Xhaka can't
01:14:24keep hold of it
01:14:25Gray
01:14:26allowed to advance
01:14:28options right and
01:14:30left
01:14:30Serkin got a little
01:14:32touch on it
01:14:33Poros delivery
01:14:35Mukiele
01:14:37the faintest of
01:14:39glances ahead of
01:14:40Rashadison
01:14:41had he not got that
01:14:45touch
01:14:45that would have been
01:14:461-0
01:14:47Thomas Frank has
01:14:51admitted that the
01:14:51first half of the
01:14:53season as Tottenham
01:14:54head coach has been
01:14:55difficult to enjoy
01:14:56out of there
01:14:59and now
01:15:00Tell
01:15:01Ty
01:15:03went to place it
01:15:05really not a bad
01:15:07effort from Tell
01:15:08but
01:15:09pretty sure that
01:15:11that was heading
01:15:12wide
01:15:12good spell of
01:15:16sustained pressure
01:15:17this from Tottenham
01:15:18but
01:15:18is there something at
01:15:19the end of it
01:15:20Romero
01:15:21takes it down
01:15:36Van de Ven
01:15:37and touched in by
01:15:51Ben Davis
01:15:52well Tottenham
01:15:56looking for
01:15:56more potency
01:15:58up front
01:15:59and it's the
01:16:01defenders who
01:16:01combine
01:16:02to get their
01:16:03first goal
01:16:04you've got to say
01:16:05this was slapdash
01:16:06from Sunderland
01:16:08Christian Romero
01:16:09had time to
01:16:10take it down
01:16:10slip
01:16:11and
01:16:13Mickey Van de Ven
01:16:14shot
01:16:14is turned in
01:16:16by Ben Davis
01:16:18his first
01:16:20Spurs goal
01:16:21in over
01:16:22two years
01:16:23some hope
01:16:25for Reggie
01:16:26to the
01:16:26Barice
01:16:26only Aston Villa
01:16:27have won more
01:16:27points from
01:16:28losing positions
01:16:29this season
01:16:30than Sunderland
01:16:31Kiele
01:16:33Charleston wins
01:16:35it
01:16:35Hume
01:16:37has a go
01:16:38opened up
01:16:41nicely for him
01:16:42really closing
01:16:45him down
01:16:46they've really
01:16:48failed to lay
01:16:48a glove on
01:16:49Tottenham so
01:16:50far in this
01:16:50first half
01:16:51Ben Takur
01:16:56tried to
01:16:56flick that
01:16:57forward
01:16:57here's
01:16:58Trae Hume
01:16:59onto
01:16:59Mayenda
01:17:00find
01:17:04Xhaka
01:17:04in a bit
01:17:05of space
01:17:05here
01:17:06Edingra
01:17:09gets the
01:17:13cross in
01:17:14Vicario
01:17:15came
01:17:15and
01:17:16Ben Davis
01:17:17was there
01:17:18unconvincing
01:17:20from the
01:17:21Tottenham
01:17:22goalkeeper
01:17:22this was a
01:17:25chance
01:17:25and Vicario
01:17:27got nothing
01:17:28on that
01:17:29at all
01:17:29good
01:17:30positioning
01:17:30from Ben
01:17:31Davis

01:17:40nerves
01:17:40of those

01:17:45at the
01:17:45moment

01:21:20there
01:21:20for
01:21:20them
01:21:20I
01:21:20preferred
01:21:21their
01:21:21approach
01:21:21I
01:21:22thought
01:21:22they
01:21:22were
01:21:22slightly
01:21:23more
01:21:23aggressive
01:21:23you can
01:21:23see
01:21:24here
01:21:24this is
01:21:24right
01:21:24from the
01:21:24start
01:21:25after
01:21:26Sunderland
01:21:26not going to give
01:21:27Sunderland an easy
01:21:28afternoon
01:21:28which sometimes it feels like they can at this stadium
01:21:31they got after them but then poor decision from Richarlison
01:21:33and the story of it was they just really lack quality
01:21:36you know that here it's not a difficult ball here from Benton Kerr
01:21:39big space to leave that in for Richarlison
01:21:41he misses it
01:21:43lose the chance they get it back again
01:21:45Colin Mwani
01:21:46again easy pass
01:21:48big big space to get that in with Premier League quality
01:21:51doesn't manage to find it
01:21:53Sunderland off the hook again
01:21:54and when Spurs were on top and Thomas Frank talked about missing some opportunities
01:21:59here Pedro Porro when he breaks
01:22:01he finally shows a moment of quality and you think this is it what a ball
01:22:05and then they lack quality on the end of it with a really poor first touch
01:22:09and the chance fizzles out
01:22:10and then when you need a moment of quality this Sunderland side never know when they're beat
01:22:14and this is real top top draw the moment of quality didn't come from Spurs
01:22:17it comes from Sunderland
01:22:18fantastic link up from Brobby
01:22:20and that pass from Le Fay on the volley
01:22:22to get the weight of it and the direction of it right
01:22:25and then an emphatic finish from Brobby
01:22:27smashes right through the ball
01:22:29absolutely no chance for the goalkeeper
01:22:31and this Sunderland train keeps on rolling and they're very very difficult to stop at the moment
01:22:36and there's pressure on Thomas Frank you could hear the boos couldn't you at the end of the game
01:22:40what do you feel the kind of the music the mood music is like around Spurs
01:22:44I kind of look at the table they're the 13th couple of wins are in the Champions League position
01:22:48it's very tight in the middle of the league
01:22:49I know that's not what Thomas Frank wants he wants results and the fans want results
01:22:53but I think Stake Wolfe maybe
01:22:55I know Johnson's left this week
01:22:56maybe he'll get money in the January window to strengthen his squad and push them up the league
01:23:00OK
01:23:01shall we take a look at all the goals from yesterday then
01:23:03all deary me
01:23:11give it straight to Evan Nielsen
01:23:13and away from Semenyo and still going
01:23:20and across
01:23:21and blocked
01:23:22but in
01:23:23Arsenal level
01:23:24and it is Gabriel
01:23:26Jokoret has got the wrong side of his man
01:23:30Sanesi struggling to recover
01:23:31Odegaard now
01:23:33Bryce
01:23:33brilliant
01:23:34absolutely clinical from Declan Rice
01:23:38here's Bukayo Saka
01:23:41Bryce
01:23:43Declan Rice at the double for Arsenal
01:23:46Cook
01:23:48opens up for the hit
01:23:50here
01:23:51oh
01:23:51what a hit too from Kruppi
01:23:54Rogers
01:23:56Watkins
01:23:58Cash is in space
01:24:03Kamara's found him
01:24:05McGinn coming in
01:24:062-0 Aston Villa
01:24:11Gibbs-White bursting forward and he's onside
01:24:13it's Morgan Gibbs-White for Forrest
01:24:16hope is restored
01:24:19Telemans
01:24:21into McGinn
01:24:23oh the goalkeeper's in no man's land here
01:24:25and Sian McGinn
01:24:28makes him play
01:24:30Hayari
01:24:35Costoulis is in there
01:24:37blasted home by Ruta
01:24:38Bogachukwu tries to send it away
01:24:43sliding in but
01:24:44Yasin
01:24:44Yari
01:24:45collects it here
01:24:45oh it's the perfect start to the second half
01:24:48for Brandon
01:24:49Hove
01:24:49Albion
01:24:49and it goes to Huang
01:24:54Huang's ball across
01:24:56and Wolves in front
01:24:58as far as Mane
01:25:04he goes down
01:25:05and wins the penalty
01:25:06so Huang
01:25:08with an opportunity
01:25:09to give Wolves
01:25:11a 2-0 lead
01:25:13an opportunity he takes
01:25:15Mane's onside
01:25:19no question of that
01:25:20and he has a goal
01:25:22and it's three
01:25:23a big moment
01:25:29a big day
01:25:30for Wolves
01:25:30I know you're pleased
01:25:32for your old team there
01:25:33one of your other
01:25:34old teams as a player
01:25:35West Ham
01:25:36in big trouble
01:25:37yeah it seems that way
01:25:38doesn't it
01:25:38I thought that when they appointed Nuno
01:25:40that they would start to move themselves away
01:25:43and we'd see an upturn
01:25:44it hasn't
01:25:45hasn't quite gone that way yet
01:25:46I'm sure they'll be
01:25:47doing their best in January
01:25:48to give him some support
01:25:49and try and give themselves an opportunity
01:25:51because that gap
01:25:52just seems to be widening
01:25:53you know
01:25:54Nottingham Forest
01:25:54haven't quite capitalised
01:25:55but Leeds have moved themselves
01:25:56away from it
01:25:57so fantastic win for Wolves
01:25:59absolutely delighted for Rob as well
01:26:00because I know he's working his socks off there
01:26:02and he's got their first victory
01:26:03which will feel like a big one
01:26:05but West Ham
01:26:06with an awful lot of work to do
01:26:07to move away from that bottom three
01:26:08big game against Forest
01:26:09on Tuesday of course
01:26:10now we've loved having you here
01:26:11haven't we
01:26:11we've had a great day today
01:26:12we've all been in since 12 o'clock
01:26:14watching all the matches
01:26:15I'm sure you've had a lovely time
01:26:16as well
01:26:17but you'd much rather be managing
01:26:18of course
01:26:19would you?
01:26:20not
01:26:20well yeah
01:26:22this has been great
01:26:24it's not quite as stressful as managing
01:26:25but I do miss being on the touchline
01:26:27it's a fantastic feeling
01:26:28so hopefully back soon
01:26:29hopefully something comes up
01:26:30that you feel you want to do
01:26:32more than spend time with Shea and I
01:26:33yeah
01:26:34good choice really
01:26:35OK
01:26:37here's how the Premier League table
01:26:38looks after 20 games played
01:26:40back-to-back draws for Manchester City
01:26:42means Arsenal have a six-point lead
01:26:44at the top
01:26:45Brentford have made their joint best start
01:26:46to a Premier League season
01:26:47and are only four points off
01:26:48Liverpool in fourth
01:26:49in fact a mere four points
01:26:50separates fifth all the way down to 14th
01:26:52Leeds extend their gap
01:26:53above the bottom three
