Helena Bonham Carter, who plays Lady Caterham in Agatha Christie’s Seven Dials, said she joined the new Netflix show because of former Doctor Who writer Chris Chibnall. Christie’s original detective novel was released in 1929 and tells the story of a murder after a country house party.

00:00Chris Chibnall is a really clever writer, and it was the writing, it always is the writing with me, you're only as good as what's on the page, and Caterham, the character I was playing, was actually invented by Chris Chibnall, doesn't exist in Agatha Christie's original novel.
00:30She's a man, she's the father, but now they made it into a woman. So it gave us some latitude, and I took a lot from Agatha herself. Having read the biography, I realised, oh, Chibnall got a lot of Agatha and her mum into it. So anyway, it was a wealth of things to explore, but it was really good books of writing.
