00:00A Starbucks barista in California is in some hot water and it is not about brewing a fresh pot of
00:06Pike Place roast. A Los Angeles deputy sheriff on a 16-hour shift was looking for a pick-me-up
00:12and was stunned to find the barista added a hand-drawn cartoon. Cute, right? Wrong. The
00:19illustration was of a pig right there on the cop's cup. Pig is, of course, a derogatory term for a
00:24police officer, portraying them as corrupt, abusive, and oppressive, particularly by anti-cop
00:29activists. The deputy, Brandon Longoria, posted about the incident on his private Instagram
00:34account, writing, quote, it felt discouraging and disrespectful, especially after a long day of
00:39serving the community. All I wanted was caffeine, but instead I left feeling uneasy. And the sheriff's
00:44department agreed, calling the act offensive, inappropriate, and unacceptable. Starbucks says
00:49the employee has been fired, but also claimed that the drawing was not meant to be offensive.
00:54What was it meant to be then? Well, according to Starbucks, the employee had been doodling
00:59on cups earlier in the day to cheer up coworkers. And the pig, a meme commonly referred to as
01:05John Pork, was not meant for the sheriff's deputy.
