03:23for ultimately the global race to reinvent protein production.
03:29I do believe that Europe has all the potential to become a leading powerhouse in terms of food manufacturing from fermentation.

04:10So replicating our process in different breweries is going to be a very straightforward process.
04:16We essentially are creating a protein production system that is decentralized, enabling food security.

05:11Ein Gesetz wäre nötig, damit nicht alle, wirklich alle produzieren können, was sie wollen, ohne kontrolliert zu werden.
05:23Bereits heute muss die Europäische Behörde für Lebensmittelsicherheit genau prüfen, bevor etwas Neues auf der Ladentheke landet.
05:30Und das Europaparlament will Fleischbegriffe für Proteinprodukte aus Pflanzen oder Zellkulturen sogar verbieten.
05:36Forschung und Entwicklung sind teuer.
05:40Erfinder und Firmengründer brauchen Millionen.

05:56Sie haben den Überblick, wo lang geht's?
05:58Absolut, Wachstumspfad.
05:59Wir sehen enorm spannende neue Technologien und Produkte, die in den Markt kommen werden.
06:05Viele Startups beschweren sich darüber, dass es sehr lange und komplizierte Regularien und Genehmigungsprozeduren gibt.
06:11Stimmt das?
06:11Das stimmt an einigen Stellen.
06:13Gerade wenn es darum geht, neue Lebensmittel zulassen zu wollen, ist es einfach faktisch leichter an anderen Orten dieser Welt.
06:20Dort gibt es Vorreiter wie Singapur, Südkorea, aber auch ganz konkret in den USA ist Novel Food einfach sehr viel einfacher als die Zulassung in Europa.
06:31Um keine Zeit zu verlieren, hat Pazifico seine Proteine aus bereits zugelassenen Pilzgeflächen entwickelt.

06:40Are we still competitive compared to US, Asia?
06:45I can't emphasize enough, the talent pool in Europe is fantastic.
06:48And I think that's the key to a lot of this future competitiveness, is making sure Europe remains a global destination for university studies and for a job market as well.
06:58How do you see yourself and your company in 2050?
07:02The key ambition for us is to make a significant dent in the global supply of protein and meat.
07:08I want to see us as a company really revolutionizing not only Europe, but markets beyond that.
07:12North America, Asia, other markets as well.
