00:51all part of the country's push toward net-zero buildings by 2050.
00:55It's a system that countries like Singapore and Germany have been using for years,
01:00and there are incentives for builders to go green.
01:17But as old buildings go up for renewal,
01:20and houses destroyed in disaster-hit areas have to be taken down,
01:24there's an opportunity to repurpose key parts like glass and steel.
01:29Some firms have already begun sorting rubble to be reused,
01:32but there are added costs.
01:34Officials in Taipei hope by making green building standards more transparent,
02:00more potential homebuyers will choose them,
02:03not only to reduce waste in the country,
02:05but also to ensure Taiwan's cities become more sustainable.
