00:00Fighting falls into this Venn diagram of dancing.
00:03There's just less hips.
00:10We're out here today rehearsing some fight sequences nonstop.
00:13Lots of people. I'm very tired.
00:16Oh!
00:17Five.
00:19When we have days off, we try and come and train.
00:21The sequences coming up are pretty badass.
00:24It's one of the most fun parts, I think, about doing a job like this.
00:27It's just getting to be physical. I love it.
00:30Actors and stunt doubles obviously have a very important relationship.
00:34Whenever they have to fall down,
00:36do something that's dangerous,
00:38we'll have the stunt double there.
00:41We're really lucky our actors are both very good at fighting.
00:44They can actually do a lot of fighting stuff themselves,
00:46but it's important that we have the stunt doubles here
00:48to work with the actors so that they can kind of mimic their movement,
00:52punch the same way, move the same way,
00:54so that when you see it on screen, it's kind of seamless.
00:57One, two, three, four, five.
01:00So for fight choreography to really work, it's like doing a dance.
01:03It's all about timing and cadence, like one, two, three, four, five.
01:07It's all movement. It's all partnership
01:09and understanding what your partner is doing and reacting to it.
01:12The bookstore fight scene was the first fight we did in the season.
01:15It was our introduction to our characters and their fighting styles.
01:18Alexander's character has been out of the field for a bit,
01:22so when he came back, you know, there's a little bit of rust,
01:24but he still has his skills and techniques.
01:26Michelle's a really cool character,
01:28and her fighting style is also really cool.
01:30I would describe her kind of like a tiger, I guess you could say.
01:35She's very fierce. She's cold-blooded.
01:37Aren't you going to shut the door?
01:39She does not hesitate to kill someone.
01:45You just want it to sell,
01:46and you want it to look as cool as possible.
01:49We want to make sure that every single fight that we do,
01:51every single punch that we choreograph
01:53is motivated by something,
01:54and that story is reflective of what Alexander's going through at that time.
01:58What is the obstacle that he has to face?
02:00How is he going to get out of it?
02:01It's never just about punches and kicks.
