01:08our christmas display is what i would call a lot but i don't mean a lot in a bad way i mean a lot
01:14in a great way i'm loving the electrical babe loving the electrical we have so much fun putting
01:20this up bring on the news gives us our world here at christmas time we love to do it together that's
01:26what makes it so special we're gonna make another christmas ball another christmas ball we have to
01:31have some more in the trees okay first of all i'm the decorator i've got to have it just right you're
01:37the boss i'm the labor this is why i let you know what we need to do
01:41she usually comes to me and says i would like to have this can you build it for me i say yes
01:50i'm here to please so you keep me and i love you for it we have a small farm here
01:56and anything we need new for the christmas show we can just go out back in the pasture
02:02or in the shop and we can build anything we want the hanging balls are made out of the chicken wire
02:08we have a homemade bow which is made out of just fencing material the homemade stars on top of
02:13the roof are made out of rebar the rebar you can make it straight you can make it curve you can do
02:19whatever you want to with it rebar rebar paint and glitter let's go get welding all right we put so much
02:28heart into this there you go perfect to have tanya come to this display to see everything we have done

03:10what guys started in all of this she got me into it because i wasn't too excited about putting christmas
03:16lights up so what can i expect tonight country lots of lovely lights oh and lots of excitement
03:33and fun all right i like it yeah texas you know they have cornhole so we improvised a little bit
03:40made the hole a little bit bigger so we're going to see if you can put four balls four and four
03:46holes to get the lights to come on yes how much time you guys all have i know
03:50it's going to be a one yeah all right all right here we go

05:39this is so fun the whole snowman arch is definitely a first it takes you all the way
05:57down this path this is a legit holiday red carpet how long is this every section is 10 foot long
06:06almost 100 feet long so it's pvc pipe and it's rebar stakes in there to hold it holding it down
06:13they slide over and it goes up and then we screw it with a cross well i'm really impressed with how
06:18nice it goes straight all the way down without sagging and these trees they're so cute i'm like
06:24an official christmas tree hugger and i love the lights the way they're perfectly lined up and we have
06:31a homemade bow that is made out of fencing material right we got a little piece of fence just to show
06:37you this is what you use to actually make a bow because it rolls up nice and easy you can roll it and
06:44wrap the lights and it holds its position genius yes kenneth made those stars up there and they're
06:49made out of rebar it is 120 foot piece and then and then i heat it up and bend it i can barely hand
06:56draw a perfect start yet you've managed to bend rebar that's incredible
07:06i i want to show you these here oh yeah we call these the kenny canes so these are a piece of rebar
07:12stop it right now yes who has ever put glitter on before they're easy to make but if you have anvil
07:20it's easier to hit them to bend them to get the curvature that you need so an anvil basically it's
07:26it helps you bend the rebar it's set on a stand and you pound on it and he put glitter on them yeah i know
07:33i know penny you have quite literally raised the rebar on it it's amazing i love it
07:48now this is a cool mega tree and it's wrapped so tightly with lights there's a like close to 15 000
07:54lights on this one tree it was a basketball goal for the base we extended it up i welded a two inch
08:03flange on the top and then welded washers on the rebar at an angle so the rebars would come out
08:09you have a very tight relationship with rebar
08:16i think it's only fitting that we talk about the great big reindeer in the room
08:20how tall is this this guy is 27 foot tall you have this giant reindeer you have giant soldiers
08:31sam is hanging out in your yard it's great you have so many great inflatables this is the most
08:37important one though i think everybody's always running through their legs come on we're gonna run
08:40through the legs let's go let's go we gotta do it we could be little kids yep one two three let's go
08:46let's go see some more we have some more exciting stuff to show you giddy up let's go

09:08this is a carnival it's an actual carnival
09:12this is amazing all right i'm ready to play some games

09:51nice job i can see why everybody loves this so much it's so fun and interactive everyone's having a
09:59great time do you change it up every year we usually try to add something
10:03this year it was the ferris wheel i mean this is unbelievable it took us about a month
10:09oh wow a month to do it to working at night so you just made it from scratch
10:15it's all made out of one inch angle iron it weighs about 500 pounds but it comes apart in pieces
10:21there's eight seats on it and then the seat comes off but you made every piece of every piece
10:27wow yeah this is a bicycle wheel that we had to use for the uh pulley turn the red switch
10:36wow look at this thing is the gray it goes fast so smooth this is awesome and i love the way you
10:43decorated with lights and greenery and elves it's next level kenny and sally are a dream duo they laugh
10:52they have fun but most of all they know how to throw down a christmas display you guys are the best
10:59how much fun did we have this was amazing it's magnificent you had inflatables just larger than
11:07life i thought it was so fun how you guys made so much of what's on your display with the rebar
11:13and then the rebar and then the rebar i love how creative you guys got with that unbelievable ferris
11:23wheel that love certainly shows in what you do for people with your display the expression and the joy
11:29and the happiness on their face that's what makes this all worth it this is what we do all right well
11:36before i get going can i get a great big giant inflatable sized hug oh oh it's so much fun thank you
11:44yeah all right that was great unbelievable rebar rebar rebar she loved it
11:58we're the lidar family in our synchronized pixel light show will eclipse the competition
12:03i love it that looks so good lunar family lights it's a synchronized pixel
12:10light show with over 120 000 individual pixels placed throughout the display
12:20with the led panels you add those in we're over 1.3 million channels of light just like somebody
12:27flicking a light switch every second his birthday present to himself is putting up christmas lights in
12:32the summer it's pretty crazy but hey you know why not hey can you grab me that pvc basically i'm a
12:39support team whatever brad needs help with i'm happy to do it and i can use a power tool and i'm pretty
12:47good with my hands she's the zip tie queen don't let her fool you let go out of the 250 sequences these
12:55are the ones that we're going to run i do all the programming you got to tell the program exactly where
13:01every single light is in relation to the prop diy wise i have the frame for our huge 17 and a half foot
13:11flake i cemented that in the ground we got some 3d printed mounts he is willing to 3d print his own
13:20stuff and i think that's really cool i got at least 120 or 30 more of these to print they take about a
13:28hour and a half each realize that's a lot of time his attention to detail is unreal he has such a love
13:38for not only the lights but also the process of doing it that it's mind-blowing

14:261.3 1.4 million channels don't give me too much information this show is out of this world i like
14:34that especially since your last name is lunar we were born for this yes we were born for this i love all the
14:40puns by the way i'm a total pun girl so but it's missing one light and and we need you to help us with that
14:48okay we're going to take this candle and we're going to go ahead and have you walk up to the
14:52gingerbread family spinner on the table over there set it in the middle and that's going to start the
14:56magic thank you okay who's ready

16:05that's so great look at this you have candy canes you have arches you have so many snowflakes covering the house
16:11i see your mini pixels on the grass just growing right out of the ground even the driveway is dancing and moving and spinning that giant snowflake

16:58These arches are so amazing.
17:00It's just layers and layers and layers.
17:02But yes, this candy cane is pretty much my height.
17:06These are big.
17:07You have so many of them.
17:08Oh, yeah, there's 18.
17:10There's nine on each side.
17:11I use half-inch mesh.
17:13Every single one of these rows we mapped out inch by inch.
17:16You are meticulous.
17:17We put some PVC on the back, two stacks of rebar,
17:21and we pound them three feet down,
17:23and we put them in real good.
17:25Oh, that's so cool.
17:26And then you just slide them down.
17:28It's magic. It's that simple.
17:29Genius.
17:35I promise you've never seen these before.
17:37These are three-foot-tall blow mold.
17:39We love taking things that didn't have animated lighting
17:43and giving it new life.
17:45Take the bulbs out.
17:46Oh!
17:47Once again, using my good friend PVCs and zip ties.
17:49Yes!
17:50Every single zip tie is cut.
17:52We don't leave the tails.
17:53Meticulous precision right there.
17:55So you just put them right back on just like every light bulb.
17:58Perfect.
17:59And that answers the question,
18:00how many people does it take to change a light bulb?
18:02So we have our joy sign.
18:09It's the first prop I did with pixels.
18:12Do you want to see the magic in the back?
18:13I really do, actually.
18:14I love that stuff.
18:16Watch your step.

18:18So I just kind of winged this,
18:20because I don't have these skills,
18:21but you just kind of like dream it up.
18:24All this we learn from videos.

18:27A lot of trial and error.
18:28You don't sleep the things you can achieve in life.
18:31Yeah, yeah.
18:32When you use that other half of the day.
18:34Who did sleep?
18:35Coming over here.

18:37So I looked out and got some of this framing
18:40and added garden stakes to them.
18:42Oh!
18:43And every arm had to have the exact same amount of lights
18:45for it to work.
18:46No, that's so cool.
18:47I love that you got creative.
18:49The garden stakes really gives us like sparkly rays
18:53of sunshine coming out of here.
18:55So that was very clever.
18:56So we have the framing and a million zip ties.
18:59Then we did 130 pounds of concrete in each of these.
19:02We're using 18-inch spikes in the ground,
19:05ratchet straps, guy wires,
19:07and if you notice, this thing barely moves.
19:10Yeah.
19:11Last week we just had 60-mile-per-hour winds
19:13and this is still standing.
19:15It didn't plunge.
19:16It didn't go anywhere.
19:17You could probably hang off that thing
19:18and it would be fine.
19:19Don't tempt me with a good time because I will.
19:21I will.
19:22I will.
19:31I want to show you one of our seven pixel fours.
19:34Through the beauty of technology with some servos,
19:36we can actually animate this, have it sing and dance
19:39with the music.
19:40Did you figure out how to make this whole thing?
19:43I had to figure out how to put it together
19:44and make it work and run the programming.
19:47It definitely leaves not a bald spot on the lawn.
19:51And if you keep looking up, I call it the mega flake.
19:54Yeah.
19:55Because the seven and a half foot flake that used to be up there
19:57just wasn't big enough.
19:58That's right.
19:59It has to go to the moon.

20:05I actually have a 17 and a half foot tall snowflake.

20:10There's 4,500 lights in here.

20:12I got a whole trussing system that you'd see at a rock concert.
20:154 by 4 inch beams in here, concrete in the ground 40 inches.
20:18I mean, it looks awesome, but it's so worth it
20:20because when you stand on the street and you look at it,
20:22it's a wow.
20:23So if this wasn't enough, one of the first show pieces
20:26we ever did was these arches, 4,800 lights,
20:30added another 2,256 in the driveway
20:34and staggered it level per level per level.
20:37And we're all about this.
20:38And we're all about this.

20:44like it's blowing up into the matrix.
20:47If we need to, at nighttime, what we do
20:49is we can easily pop these off.

20:52So that way we can drive through.

21:01All right, Tommy, I want to show you something
21:03that we only show to our closest family and friends.

21:08So my stepdad, George, made this 20 years ago.
21:10for all the kids and the grandkids.
21:13That's so nice.
21:14He handcrafted a lot of stuff.
21:16And, of course, we had to add some lights to it
21:18to give it our own little flair.
21:20Unfortunately, he passed away two years ago.
21:23He inspired me to do a display, and it was tough.
21:28It was tough.
21:29But I know he's looking down, because you can see it from there.

21:35The fact that you have this is super meaningful,
21:37and it really ties back to what the holiday season is all about.
21:41It's about family, as you guys are very big on.

23:07They're all little, itsy-bitsy pieces that were all hand-cut and jigsawed.

23:27The Lunar family has a special family dynamic.

23:33I see that coming through in their display.
23:35It had a little bit of everything.
23:37We had a light show.
23:39We had nostalgia.
23:40We had a gingerbread house.
23:42What else could you ask for?
23:43That was so amazing.
23:45Just from the moment I walked up, I felt goosebumps.
23:49And it just got better and bigger.
23:51I absolutely love the DIY.
23:54But the part that really got me the most was the sentiment.
23:57The fact that a lot of the influence is coming from your stepdad.

24:51I may not be crazy where I build a mass of things,
24:54but everything that's out there has some part of DIY to it.
24:59These are some of the handmade wood items that we made.
25:02We put lights in them also.
25:03These go all the way around the eaves of the house.
25:06We have 278 handmade wood figures.
25:10There's some reindeer, Santas.
25:13Alan does a lot of the outside display work.
25:17I do the painting and artistry.
25:20There's the missus redoing part of the train that was old and cracked up.
25:25We've been decorating over 36 years.
25:29And every year we got a little more and a little more and a little more.
25:32We're going crazy with lights.
25:34But then the madness started.
25:36Here's the secret to our display.
25:38A scroll with names on it.
25:42Santa has a scroll with the names on it.
25:44We started something like that many years ago.
25:46We put our children's names, the grandkids' names,
25:49and a lot of the neighborhood's names on scrolls and put them in the yard.
25:54And now what happens every time a kid comes,
25:57if their name isn't on a scroll, we add it.
26:00These are all the new names that we got last year.
26:02I believe we had 320 to 330 new names.
26:06Another 30 new scrolls.
26:09Currently we have 2,295 names.
26:14And I've written every single one.
26:17It's only the beginning.
26:18Right, dear?
26:19Yeah.
26:20Christmas means to me tradition.
26:22I love to have traditions in the family that stay with you your whole life.
26:27And I think we've created that with our display.
26:29The kids get to come, find their names year after year.
26:33It's pretty cool.

27:29so tell me how do we get it started well let's step up to our table up here it's
27:37been on my wish list for many years to be on the show we're finally here all I
27:42need you to do is to plug it in and we'll see magic okay are you guys ready

28:20oh this is gorgeous
28:23absolutely beautiful
28:27wow guys this is amazing starting with the snowflakes on the roof and how they're propped up I love that
28:34and they're even flying in the sky and then you have is that a gingerbread school yes it is
28:41but you got penguins and reindeers yes and these beautiful things growing out of the ground
28:47they're scrolls just like Santa with his scrolls every kid that comes here their name is out there
28:53on a scroll what a cute idea it looks like there's thousands of them in your yard and are those
29:00stockings and candles in the driveway three stockings three candles it makes it look
29:05the driveway a little bit better and I can see Santa kissing Mrs. Claus maybe it's their anniversary too
29:10who knows I can't wait I'd love to get in there you guys want to come
29:17there's so many moons isn't there let's keep looking what are we looking for what lines
29:34look Tanya we have 2,295 names out in our yard all you have to do is come in here and find your
29:50name for example let's see Tanya there I am so that means your name is out there somewhere on a scroll
29:59you know what no no no no we'll get to that later okay now if your name wasn't on the list what
30:05happens take the notebook put your name on there put it in Santa's box well look at this just to show
30:12you oh wow and it's really surprising every night I'll have 10 15 20 names in here we've been getting
30:19on the average about two to three hundred names every year that's amazing there's a hundred and
30:2492 scrolls out here what yeah all these scrolls are handmade basically we have a wood scroll we can
30:32just pull it up oh wait so you have rebar in the ground so what we do is I take PVC three quarter inch
30:38pipe a couple of these C clamps screwed in the lights are all siliconed all the way around the stock and
30:45then what we do is drop the rebar in rebarber space every 13 inches around the yard to be exact to be
30:53exact 12 inches is too close so anyway it's too far oh it's so great
30:58these are so cool they're flawless they look like they just jumped out of a children's book I noticed
31:25you did a similar setup here so what do you have the rebar in there and then the pipe actually here
31:30I got an easy one oh it's like it's on a kickstand on the back we just basically have a couple pieces
31:36of PVC right the best part about this since this is rock you don't see the bases of anything don't
31:43see everything is buried the rock is something special this all used to be grass about 12 years
31:49ago we redesigned our whole yard you can walk through our whole display now everything is rock
31:55I can hide everything under the rock all the wires the poles so it makes it look really clean if you
32:03get a bird side view it actually looks like a beautiful angel with wings you changed your entire
32:09landscape specifically for your Christmas display yeah it was a lot of work but it's well worth it well
32:16Tonya we got a lot to see let's rock and roll let's go I noticed this cute display from the streets
32:26Santa and Mrs. Claus sneaking in a little smooch I love that it's moving so it actually does grab your
32:32attention when the lights go on there's a motor in the back and then it has little pins with a swivel
32:38so the arms go back and forth that's actually been in the window for about 20 years now it's so cute it's a
32:44really adorable touch I want to show you something I think is really special there's 58 snowflakes up
32:56there all LED 58 up on top here we have 32 little elves I have a Spanish tile roof right and everybody
33:05says how do you get up there without breaking the tiles right I came up with a great idea the snowflake
33:11has a bracket on the back it's just simple wood there's a little three inch spring clip that
33:17doesn't break the tile when you let it go your attention to detail is through the roof you like that
33:24oh that's my daughter May right there
33:35Tonya you see all these names I do this started the madness our kids names our grandkids names the
33:45friends the neighbors when we had the grass this was out here in grass right one day I have a first
33:52great teacher who lives down the street she brought her class down here with 20 kids and one of the
33:58kids said I can't find my name I looked at her I said we got something here so what I did I had the first
34:12great teacher give me their names and next year I had made scrolls I put them out in the yard the
34:19reaction it broke my heart I saw these kids jumping up and down so happy mom my name my name my name 2295 names
34:31later and here we are what I love about that story is that you heard it oh yeah you heard that kid and you
34:38heard and understood how important and what that would mean to them and you listen I feel a little
34:44like the little kid like where's my name I don't even know where it is you are very close oh this is
34:50the hot spot right you don't need to find out I'm not going to tell you where I'm going to look your name
34:55I'm going to look you're a little cold cold I'll tell you what oh you're getting warm oh am I
35:00getting warm you're getting warm tulip I'm looking for all the keys oh Taylor nope not me you see how it
35:06can take a long time to find your name where is it oh that is so fun look at my smile the Coppats
35:20family display is designed for kids but loved by everyone this display is full of heart and the
35:28most incredible DIY Tanya it's been an honor having you here I hope you enjoyed yourself I had a blast
