00:00It's a new episode of The Guardian Talks. Thank you for joining us yet again.
00:04My name is Olukayone Olumuyo and today we are going to be looking at the defection of Peter Obi officially to the ADC
00:11and of course some of the political informations coming out of Nigeria.
00:15We've got currently APC having 28 states out of 36.
00:20What does this mean for the forthcoming general election in 2027?
00:24We are going to be looking at these and many more on the show today.
00:27Keep it dialogue and I'll be right back. You go nowhere.
00:30A lot of our reaction have ensued asking the question, is Nigeria becoming a one-party state?
00:44We are as well asking the same question.
00:46Is this not dangerous for democracy that we, you know, supposedly following?
00:52And what do you think this means for the 2027 general election?
00:59And for Peter Obi, the obedience movement also did made it clear that they are supporting Peter Obi as president, not as vice president.
01:09Now, we have a lot of questions again to ask.
01:12There is no automatic ticket waiting in the camp of the ADC for Peter Obi.
01:17Of course, it's going to have to do the primaries with notable contestant.
01:21We've got the former vice president, Achikwa Boubaka.
01:24We've got what's it called, the former Kaduna governor, El Rufai, also in contention.
01:30We've got a lot of them, as well as the former governor of Delta State, Rotimi Amici.
01:33All of them are now in the ranks of the ADC, and every one of them at some point, you know, in the past, have shown interest in also contesting in 2027.
01:44Meanwhile, you have to keep in mind that we have only one ticket from the ADC.
01:48Now, as it stands, for PDP, PDP looks more like a sinking ship when you look of things.
01:56We've got a lot of defections right from, you know, last year, even prior before last year till now.
02:02And like I said earlier, currently, we have 28 states that are APC states, you want to say that, out of 36.
02:14And the remaining eight thereabouts, I don't know.
02:20It's more like, what is the future, you know, for opposition parties here in Nigeria?
02:28And I will be asking these questions from our viewers at home.
02:33Do you think that the defection of PDP to the ADC gives us, let me say, credible opposition against the ruling party APC?
02:44And do you think that ETLB can successfully, you know, kneel the ticket in the primaries for the ADC, as well as, you know, standing as a credible opposition against the ruling party APC?
02:59Also, for the defections, many people, political analysts across the nation, have voiced their opinions that it is very dangerous.
03:07And at some point, it might even exploded in terms of, for the ruling party APC, because you've got people coming from different parties, most importantly from PDP, with different ideology and also, you know, with particular, we don't know the mission, but of course, to strengthen the cause of the ruling party ahead of the 2027 general election.
03:31So many things to discuss about on the political matters of Nigeria, but of course, it's still in the early stages, 2026, just barely a year to go.
03:39And this year, we'll be having two governorship elections, one, of course, in Osho State and the other one in Akiti State.
03:46Two governorship elections to look out for, you know, in the year 2026.
03:51A lot of questions, like we said earlier, about, you know, preparation of high-neck, how prepared is high-neck, you know, we've got a new leadership on board now.
04:00What do they have in store?
04:02How ready are they for the general election in 2027?
04:06We're going to be seeing some of these things, you know, coming up in this 2026 governorship election in Osho and, of course, in Akiti.
04:13With that, we'll know how prepared, you know, that the organization is, you know, for the general election in 2027.
04:21Thank you for being part of our board here.
04:23That will be the size of our package today on Guardian Talks.
04:26I wish we could, you know, get the discussion on going, but, of course, time is not always a friend on the show.
04:33And until next time, where we'll come again with topical discussions to talk about, most importantly, in the political space.
04:40I am Oluo Kayode, Oluo Muyua, and it's been a pleasure to be your host today.
04:45Until next time, I come your way again.
04:47I bid you goodbye, and I'll see you next time.
