00:00At zoos around the world, we hear some incredible stories of hope and triumph.

00:04Animals show bravery and strength, just like us.

00:07And through the help and support of people that love them,

00:09they too have the courage to fight adversity.

00:14Hi, I'm Jed Dodds here at Reed Park Zoo,

00:16and today I'm going to introduce an Andean bear named Worf

00:19that's overcome cancer by the help of his keepers.

00:24During his training sessions, Worf's keepers noticed that he had a small wound on his paw.

00:28After immobilization, the vet diagnosed him to have cancer.

00:32Worf had to be immobilized and transported off zoo grounds four times to receive radiation treatment.

00:38After his treatment, Worf's paw is looking really well,

00:41and all indications are that he is cancer-free.

00:44We shipped Worf off grounds to get radiation treatment on his foot,

00:49and he did really well with it.

00:51Coming back, he was a little bit lethargic, didn't really want to eat right away,

00:55which was to be expected, but he still came up to us and got meds and all the things that he needed.

01:02He still had a really good appetite a few days later, so he did really well overall.

01:07We also need to make sure that we can treat his foot and look at his foot,

01:10so he has to be comfortable standing up on the fence with his feet,

01:13and also that the vet can approach him, and we can approach him and give him medications and things that he needs.

01:19He's doing great. He is right back where he started before the treatment.

01:23He's playing and active and loves to swim and climb, so he's doing really well right now.

01:29By the looks of it, everything is back to normal for Worf and his keepers.

01:33Through the hard work and dedication of Worf's keepers and vets, he was able to overcome cancer,

01:38and now he's free to focus on the more important things in life.
