01:10due to today's geopolitical environment.
01:11However, they both expressed their confidence in the country.

01:42I have no doubt, dear Nicos, that under your leadership,
01:44we will continue to make Europe more secure, more prosperous, more engaged and more united.
01:51Our ability to combine tradition,

02:31The EU presidency of the Republic of Cyprus will last until the end of June,
02:36and covers three summit meetings.
02:40French President Emmanuel Macron has accused the US of breaking free from international rules
02:46and gradually turning away from some of its allies,
02:49amid a geopolitical world changing for the worse.
02:53In his annual address to French ambassadors, Macron explained,
02:57We are in a world that is regulated.
03:01The multilateralism instances work less and less well.
03:05We are evolving in a world of great power,
03:08with a real temptation to share the world.
03:11The United States have an established power,
03:13but that is gradually deteriorating from some of its allies,
03:16and that is surrounded by international rules that it promoted recently,
03:20whether it be commerce, some elements of security, or some homes.
03:24Macron's comments come after a string of strongly worded statements by the Trump administration,
03:31which have alarmed many of Washington's staunchest allies.
03:34Chief among them is US President Donald Trump's escalating rhetoric
03:39regarding the annexation of Greenland, the world's largest island,
03:44and part of the Kingdom of Denmark.
03:46Trump has long floated the idea of purchasing the island,
03:51which lies mostly in the Arctic Circle,
03:54citing its strategic location and saying it was vital for US national security.
03:59US President Donald Trump has signed an executive order
04:05suspending Washington's participation in dozens of UN agencies,
04:10commissions and advisory panels focused on climate, labour, migration, and other issues,
04:17his administration describes as promoting so-called work initiatives.
04:22This means the US will withdraw from 66 international organizations,
04:28including the UN Climate Treaty Framework,
04:31marking the most extensive retreat from global cooperation in US modern history.
04:37According to US Secretary of State Marco Rubio,
04:40the institutions were redundant in their scope,
04:44mismanaged, wasteful, and poorly run.
04:47Rubio also described the agency's interest as a threat to US sovereignty.
04:53The withdrawal leaves the US as the only country outside a global climate framework.
04:59It also comes as Trump rattles allies and adversaries with military actions.
05:04Trump, who calls climate change a hoax,
05:07withdrew from the Paris Agreement shortly after returning to the White House.
05:11The White House has announced that Venezuela's interim government decisions
05:19will be dictated by the United States
05:21and that it plans to control all sales of the country's petroleum
05:25following the capture of Nicolas Maduro.
05:27It comes after US forces seized two Venezuela-linked oil tankers on Wednesday
05:34in the North Atlantic and the Caribbean.
05:37US Vice President J.D. Vance said controlling Venezuela's oil
05:41would allow Washington to pressure the country.
05:43The way that we control Venezuela is we control the purse strings,
05:46we control the energy resources, and we tell the regime,
05:49you're allowed to sell the oil so long as you serve America's national interest.
05:53You're not allowed to sell it if you can't serve America's national interest.
05:56And that's how we exert incredible pressure on that country
05:59without wasting a single American life, without endangering a single American citizen.
06:04Venezuelan interim President Delcy Rodriguez, who was officially sworn in this week,
06:09said Venezuela would pursue economic relationships across multiple continents,
06:14characterizing US engagement as standard diplomatic practice.
06:18The 71% of the Venezuelan exportations are concentrated in 8 countries.
06:25And of that 71%, the 27%, the destination is the United States and North America.
06:32The economic relations of Venezuela are diversified in different markets in the world.
06:39How are diversified our geopolitical relations?
06:44The US Energy Department said Washington would oversee all Venezuelan oil shipments worldwide,
06:56permitting exports only through approved channels.
06:59Sales of 30 million to 50 million barrels will begin immediately,
07:03with proceeds held in US-controlled accounts at international banks.
07:07An ICE immigration officer fatally shot a woman in Minneapolis in the United States during a raid on a residential street.
07:20In a video circulating online, the woman appears to pull out onto the road,
07:25before she is stopped by officers who request her to open her door and step out of the car.
07:30When the woman proceeds to drive forward in what seems to be an attempt to flee the scene,
07:35another officer standing in front of the car draws his gun and shoots at the moving vehicle.
07:40The woman's car then sped into two parked cars a few meters further, crashing to a stop.
07:46In footage provided by eyewitnesses, a total of three gunshots can be heard.
07:52Images from the scene show one gunshot entered through the front windshield.
07:56Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem called the incident an act of, quote,
08:04domestic terrorism and claimed the woman had tried to run over the officer.
08:08US President Donald Trump mirrored this stance and defended ICE.
08:13Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey reacted with anger,
08:16disputing claims that the woman had been a threat to the officer.
08:19Frey also accused ICE of sowing chaos and demanded that the agency leave the city.
08:25They want us to respond in a way that creates a military occupation in our city.
08:34They want an excuse to come in and show the kind of force that will create more chaos and more despair.
08:43Hundreds gathered in Minneapolis in the evening of Wednesday to hold a vigil for the woman,
08:49as well as to protest ICE raids and Trump's escalating crackdown on immigration.
08:58Russia launched nearly 100 drones into Ukraine overnight into Thursday,
09:04targeting energy infrastructure in the Dnepropetrovsk and Zaporizhia regions
09:08and triggering water and power outages.
09:11Electricity in Zaporizhia gradually began returning by Thursday morning.
09:16But the situation in Dnepropetrovsk remained critical in the afternoon.
09:20Around one million people in the region still lacked water and heating, according to officials.
09:27Critical services have been disrupted, with city hospitals across Dnepro partially operating on generator power.
09:34Public transportation, including the metro, was also disrupted,
09:39and school holidays in the region have been extended by a few days.
09:43Temperatures in Ukraine are expected to drop below minus 10 degrees Celsius in the coming days,
09:49making power and heating outages even more difficult and dangerous for the population.
09:55French farmers forced their way into Paris to protest the EU's proposed trade deal with five South American countries.
10:05About 100 tractors bypassed police barriers on Thursday to reach landmarks like the Eiffel Tower or the Arc de Triomphe.
10:13The French Interior Ministry said about 20 tractors reached the French capital city centre.
10:18The protest was organized by the Rural Coordination Union to pressure France's government,
10:24which opposes the trade deal with Latin American countries of Mercosur.
10:28The problem is that we are going to import meat or cereals,
10:32which are produced with substances or active substances,
10:37which are no longer authorized in France for more than 25 years.
10:40Bœuf aux hormones, poulet aux chlores...
10:43In France, we don't produce that.
10:46So why do we import products that do not correspond to the French or European terms?
10:53The European Commission has stepped up its effort this week to convince member states,
10:59such as France and Italy, to conclude the trade agreement.
11:02It promised farmers to access 45 billion euros from the CAP, the Common Agricultural Policy, as soon as 2028.
11:10The Commission has also decided to suspend the EU carbon border tax on fertilizers.
11:15The French government says the deal will threaten beef, chicken, sugar, ethanol and honey production.
11:21French farmers are also angry about the government's sanitary measures to control lumpy skin disease in cattle.
