New figures show thousands of deliberate blazes across Tyne and Wear in six months. Fire leaders say prevention and education work is being intensified.

00:00Fire chiefs say action is underway to tackle a sharp rise in deliberate fires after new figures showed incidents jumped by a third.
00:09A report to Tyne and Weir Fire and Rescue Service recorded 3,610 deliberate fires between April and September, up by nearly 1,000 on the previous year.
00:22Sunderland recorded the highest number with more than 1,100 incidents in six months, up by around 54%.
00:30Fire service leaders said deliberate blazes remain an ongoing concern and are a key focus for prevention and education work.
00:39Police patrols are among measures being used to reduce further incidents.
