00:00After the reinstatement of the 60 billion pesos PhilHealth lost last year in a disastrous budget realignment to flood control projects,
00:08the president was more than glad to earmark close to $130 billion for the state health insurance fund this year,
00:14which translates to greater coverage for medication and treatment of even rare diseases with a deductible of up to half a million,
00:22which I thresh out in this report gathered by our Clazel Pardelia.
00:25Relief is in sight for Filipinos struggling with medical expenses.
00:32This is the target of the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation or PhilHealth.
00:36This year, President Ferdinand R. Marcus Jr. has allocated $129.8 billion.
00:41This will cover patient hospital expenses.
00:44For instance, patients with leukemia can have up to 500,000 pesos deducted from their hospital bills under the Z-benefit package.
01:03Patient expenses amounting to $274 billion were shouldered by the PhilHealth last year and paid to both public and private hospitals.
01:11These payments were released in just 22 days, much faster compared to the two-month processing time in the past.
01:17PhilHealth is also closely coordinating with the Department of Information and Communications Technology or DICT to fully implement digitalization within the agency.
01:26PhilHealth will also utilize artificial intelligence.
01:29It aims to prevent anomalous or fraudulent health insurance claims.
01:55This is Sharm Zespina from the National TV Network for a new and better Philippine.
