Herbosa denies Marcos eyeing to replace him

Health Secretary Teodoro Herbosa on Jan. 7, 2026 denies speculation that President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. may replace him as secretary of the Department of Health (DOH). In a press conference in Malacañang, Herbosa reiterated the statement of Palace Press Officer Claire Castro that there were no expected changes to the membership in the Cabinet. Marcos is reportedly looking for Herbosa’s replacement amid controversies and complaints of incompetence in the health department.

00:09There's no truth to that. I think you said earlier yesterday that there is no revamp of the cabinet.
00:15But we in the cabinet all serve as the pleasure of the president.
00:19So if ever the president wants to take me, that is the prerogative of our president.
00:23We continue to fulfill all his mandates, zero balance dealing, the past centers, and all this focus on the higher budget is emphasis on health.
00:34So I think we will continue to pursue the mandates of the president with emphasis on better health care for all Filipinos.
