00:00Secretary of War Pete Hegseth has promised to demote and cut the military pension of Senate
00:04Democrat Mark Kelly. Now, we've talked a lot about the senator here before on the pod.
00:09Kelly, who retired from the military with the rank of captain, was one of six Democratic lawmakers to
00:15appear in a November video telling members of the military to disobey orders if they were, quote,
00:20illegal. President Trump and Secretary Hegseth called that seditious, a very serious crime,
00:25and promised to investigate all six people in the video. The senator is the only one of those six
00:31who comes under the jurisdiction of the Pentagon since he's a retired service member. Now, Hegseth
00:36announced the move on X, posting that the Department of War will take administrative action, quote,
00:41in response to Senator Mark Kelly's seditious statements and his pattern of reckless misconduct.
00:47Now, Kelly released his own statement in response to that, which reads in part, quote,
00:51If Pete Hegseth, the most unqualified Secretary of Defense in our country's history,
00:56thinks that he can intimidate me with a censure or threats to demote me or prosecute me,
01:00he still doesn't get it. I will fight this with everything I've got. Now, Kelly has a month to
01:06fight Hegseth's move, which should be finalized within 45 days.
