00:00To the celebrities that are coming on this course, I've got one thing to say.
00:06Prepare for all of your worst nightmares to come true.
00:09I know.
00:10Instagram can't save you now.
00:12God!
00:14In this series,
00:15Let's go!
00:1614 British and Australian celebrities
00:21have enlisted to go head-to-head
00:23in the most punishing stages of SAS selection.
00:27I'm hoping I can overcome my biggest fear.
00:31Life is for living.
00:32It's now or never.
00:35Led by an elite team,
00:37a next special forces soldiers.
00:39These celebrities are gonna get their ass kicked on this course.
00:42We're gonna blow!
00:43Let's go!
00:44We're gonna hit them hard.
00:46And we're gonna keep hitting them until we break them.
00:51Don't screw me up!
00:52No other test asks as much.
00:57Come on, don't give up!
00:58Come on, give me that stuff!
00:59What can I do, man?
01:00Or means as much
01:02to the few
01:03who make it through.
01:05I'm not gonna ask.
01:06You can do it.
01:07You've got this.
01:08I have a dream that we were all
01:24teenage ninja mutant persons.
01:29It's the penultimate day of selection.
01:32I think today is gonna be a very long day.
01:34Do you wear glasses, dude?
01:38Yeah.
01:40Please.
01:41Do you remember from the first day?
01:43No, I don't.
01:44Yeah, it's a little trauma.
01:45You've got bad eyes, though.
01:46Really bad.
01:49God!
01:51Jesus!
01:52My eyes look big.
01:59Just five recruits remain.
02:01Two Australians and three Brits.
02:04I don't know how many more days my knee's got left.
02:07Oh!
02:08It's dancing.
02:09Slut dropping.
02:10Oh, I don't love a slap drop.
02:12Have you done any slap dropping before, Em?
02:14I did pole dancing for six years.
02:16Shut up!
02:17Yeah.
02:18So can you do, like, the legs open on the pole and all that?
02:20Yeah.
02:21Go on, Em!
02:22She's like a hidden gem.
02:24Yeah.
02:25Yeah.
02:30These recruits, they're still not getting it.
02:33The DS are assessing who can make it through.
02:37The final stages of the course.
02:39We need to turn the screws up a bit.
02:41We need to really get into them.
02:43But there's still something lacking.
02:45It's starting to piss me off a bit.
02:47They don't seem to be listening.
02:48It's about digging deep into the reserves,
02:51finding the will to survive,
02:53and the want to be here.
02:55Who do you think really gives us 100% all the way through?
03:00Number four.
03:01I just don't think that she has the physicality
03:03and mental toughness to navigate the next portion of the course.
03:06She's just lost the wrong aisle in Tesco,
03:09but she's still here.
03:13So we've got the grey woman, number ten.
03:15She's already in line to be called
03:17unless she shows a bit more character.
03:19But she is reliable.
03:21Well, is it enough at this stage?
03:23That's the question, isn't it?
03:24Five is strong for her size.
03:26She's shown real tenacity.
03:28Yeah.
03:29But when attitude turns into ego,
03:31some of us wouldn't get along with her in a team.
03:33Yeah.
03:34A lot of roll in the eyes, a lot of bite in the lips.
03:36Yeah.
03:37Seven is an ox.
03:39He's a monster, but mentally,
03:41it's just a constant rollercoaster of emotions.
03:45Yeah.
03:46So that strength, that bravado,
03:48is actually mirror...
03:50is masking the fragility.
03:52Yeah.
03:53Number 14.
03:54He has layers of forecast.
03:56Strong, safe pair of hands.
03:58But he's got less...
03:59...personality.
04:00So, final question then.
04:02Aussies versus the English.
04:04Who's coming out of the Isis?
04:06I'm not convinced about any of the English.
04:09The Aussies, you know what you're going to get.
04:11It's not a gamble.
04:12The Brits, I think when left to their own devices,
04:15any one of them is capable of throwing their armband in.
04:18They've all still not reached what we want.
04:20I think the next 24 hours is going to be...
04:22It's important.
04:23...critical for all of them.
04:24For all of them.
04:27We haven't looked in the mirror for a week.
04:29I did the other day when I went away and I was shocked.
04:34When we get out of here and look in the mirror,
04:36we're going to be like...
04:37I don't even know where to start.
04:39You're a shell of a person.
04:41I don't know where to start.
04:43Turning up on the first day with crimped hair.
04:45Did we think we were?
04:47Blow-dry.
04:48I'm not telling you.
04:51You're a prey!
04:54Sprint, sprint, sprint.
04:58Everybody get your water bottles out.
05:00All the mountains front.
05:02Water bottles will always be topped up to the brim.
05:07Put it away.
05:08Put it over your head.
05:09Really?
05:10Put it away.
05:11Drink it through the top of your head.
05:14Now!
05:25Right.
05:26Do not get complacent at this phase.
05:29OK?
05:33Tonight, you are going behind enemy lines.
05:35You're going to be chased down, hunted.
05:37There's dogs after you, there's people after you.
05:39And it's frightening.
05:40All the tools and ingredients we've given you,
05:42from day one to this point now.
05:44Act on it and use it where you need to.
05:46Because if you don't, we will chop you.
05:49But the final part's going to come down to you
05:51and what's in there.
05:53Do not give up.
05:56You've got to want this.
05:57This is pure survival mode now.
06:01Go!
06:03Bird guns, let's go!
06:07Come on, hurry up.
06:09In the final stages of selection, we want to exhaust these recruits,
06:14bring them to their rawest state.
06:16This is the edge of the cliff stuff, isn't it?
06:20Wild.
06:22We're not breaking down these recruits for shits and giggles.
06:26This is for a purpose.
06:29It's dangerous, isn't it?
06:31It's just out of state.
06:32Do they possess that warrior spirit?
06:36Do they possess the will to survive?
06:38All right, listen up.
06:39This is an individual assessment that you have to survive to fight another day.
06:53You never know when the war is finished.
06:57You must accept pain, misery and suffering on every mission.
07:02We are looking for each and every one to use 100%.
07:08When it comes down to it, it must be you that makes the choice to keep going.
07:13It's got to come from within.
07:15Do you have what it takes to be by our side?
07:19Yes, sir.
07:21Let's go!
07:23Get the fuck up here!
07:25If you're in the back, get to the front.
07:27Let's go!
07:29Carrying 15 kilogram bergens.
07:30Let's get up here!
07:32In 40 degree heat.
07:34What we like to see, driving it forward!
07:36The recruits face a series of steep, rocky ascents.
07:40Let's see 100% effort!
07:43They have no idea how long this sickener will last.
07:47That's it!
07:49We'll work, number seven.
07:51Keeping pace with the DS, World Cup winning rugby player, Ben.
07:55With number 14, Olympic swimming champion, Mac, close behind.
07:5814! That's it!
08:00I think years of swimming and being in my head for hours on end will help me block out any of the external noise that is coming in.
08:1114's gaining on you seven!
08:12I always used to say pressure is a privilege, because it means you care, it means the result matters.
08:22Let's go four!
08:24Oh, fucking hell.
08:25Oh, fucking hell.
08:27I think I'm going to find the bay.
08:29Come on, I think I'm going to find the bay.
08:32Less than 200 metres into the ascent.
08:35Close the gaps out the rear!
08:37Number four.
08:39TV personality Dani is struggling to keep up.
08:42Oh, fucking hell.
08:44Come on four!
08:46Let's go!
08:48I hate it when I fail.
08:49I just want to be good at things.
08:51Like, I like to be the best at everything that I do.
08:55Keep pushing!
08:59I'd love to win, listen, of course I'd love to win.
09:02But just getting to the end would just be a massive, massive achievement for me.
09:09Come on four, let's get a fucking move on!
09:11That's my back.
09:13My back is fucked.
09:15I'm 50-50 at the minute.
09:18The 50% of me is like, Dan, you've got this, you can do it.
09:20And then the other 50% is like, you're having a fucking laugh.
09:26Let's go four!
09:28Come on four.
09:29Stick with it.
09:31Couldn't you get some water down here.
09:34Keep your head in the game, number four, yeah?
09:36Yes, that was my back.
09:38For the next climb, the DS will increase the pressure.
09:44Right, when I see a goal, what's going to happen?
09:46You're going to grab two jerrycans, and we'll head off.
09:49Go!
09:51I want to see maximum effort.
09:53Oh my fucking God.
09:55Let's go, let's dig deep!
09:57Recruits are loaded with two jerrycans.
10:00Good effort, seven!
10:02Weighing 20 kilograms each.
10:04You've got 14, you can catch him.
10:06Pump them legs!
10:08Keep fucking moving.
10:12Are you taking the piss?
10:13I'm just too weak.
10:14You're not too weak.
10:16They must continue until the DS are satisfied.
10:19Recruits have given their all.
10:22Let's go!
10:26That's it.
10:27Let's keep it going, let's keep it going!
10:28Even as someone that's passed selection, I look back at it with my mates, and I'm like, how the fuck did we do it?
10:36Sorry, I'll go after games.
10:38Drop one, drop one, find a way of carrying it.
10:41Oh my God!
10:43That's it.
10:45I can remember waking up on a particular morning, and my knees were screaming, and I'm thinking, what am I fucking doing?
10:52Let's go!
10:54But, you start moving again, you're like, oh, I can do it, I'll do it.
10:57Aussies versus England, get up there and catch them!
10:59I think there's got to be a bit of a sadomasochist inside you, maybe.
11:03Let's go on.
11:04Come on, drive it forward.
11:05And then, ultimately, it's about digging deeper and deeper and deeper.
11:11Keep going!
11:13I'm looking for the recruit that can demonstrate that same inner fight, that same will to survive, like I did.
11:22Come on, then.
11:24Right, two tyres straight up to the next DS.
11:28It's good effort.
11:33Come on then, ten.
11:35Behind seven and fourteen is number ten, Olympic swimming champion, Emily.
11:40People don't understand the pressure I put on myself to be better than everyone else.
11:45Ten, keep pushing.
11:47It's hard to switch off wanting to win all the time, but if you don't think that way, then you're not that champion, that athlete.
11:54Good effort, number ten! Five!
11:57Let's move!
12:00Come on, let's go!
12:01Come on, five. Let's start catching up, number ten.
12:04There's easier ways of carrying those fucking things.
12:07As the sickener continues.
12:09Five, stand up.
12:11Floundering at the rear.
12:12Let's see what you're fucking made of.
12:14Is number five, TV personality, Gabby.
12:17Come on, tiny temper!
12:19Come on then, let's go.
12:20I've had moments where I've been, like, not as positive in my past, my past lives.
12:25Come on, let's keep moving!
12:27I'm not a quitter, because I feel like I've always got something to prove.
12:31Fucking keep moving!
12:33I think I'm going to be good at anything that involves fitness endurance, because that's what I do on a day-to-day, and if I fail at that, then what the hell am I doing?
12:41Where you go? Good man, let's go!
12:47Come on, my 14!
12:49You need to catch him!
12:51On top of their 15-kilogram bergens...
12:54You look fucking great!
12:55Thank you, staff.
12:57...the DS load recruits with metal chains...
13:01...weighing 10 kilograms each.
13:03No one goes light on this one.
13:05Away you go.
13:06Catch him!
13:09Good effort, Simon!
13:11Keep going!
13:12Another turn!
13:13Come collect your jewellery, let's go!
13:14Come on!
13:16Selection is about pushing you beyond your breaking point.
13:20Hey, hey, hey!
13:21You ain't got all your fucking jewellery yet!
13:23You are being watched every step of that way.
13:25Let's go!
13:26Come on!
13:27There's nowhere to hide.
13:28We want 100% as you're told from the start, and we won't take anything less.
13:32Right, let's dig deep!
13:33Come on!
13:34If they have got the mindset, the broken body will follow it.
13:38Drive through it, come on!
13:39If they have a weak mind, and they give up, they will not survive.
13:43Fucking hell!
13:46I just need a moment.
13:47We can't stop!
13:49On my heels now!
13:51Further down the track...
13:53Every last bit, let's go!
13:54Number four, Danny, is lagging behind the rest of the recruits.
13:59My body can't take no more!
14:01Fucking keep going!
14:05Come on!
14:06I really can't move anymore, sorry.
14:08It's my fucking back, I swear to God!
14:10I'm in so much pain!
14:11Right.
14:12We've been through this every fucking task.
14:14We're looking for everything you've got!
14:16There you go, quitting on me now.
14:18If you're not up here in 30 seconds, I'm gonna take your armband off ya.
14:21What do you wanna do then, number four?
14:22Everything you've got now, come on!
14:33Get angry!
14:34Get on my fucking...
14:35Get on me!
14:36Now!
14:38In the midst of a brutal mountain sickness...
14:41Oh, I can't fucking do it!
14:43Number four, Danny, is close to breaking point.
14:47My fucking back, I swear to God!
14:49Let's go, let's talk in!
14:51If you're not up here in 30 seconds, I'm gonna take your armband off ya!
14:55Come on then!
14:56What do you wanna do then, number four?
14:58I just need a moment.
15:00Three, two, one!
15:03That's it!
15:05Drive through it, come on!
15:09Fucking good effort, number four, that's what we wanna see!
15:12We don't have quitters!
15:14Oh, no!
15:16Let's go!
15:18Right here, Sam.
15:19Catch your breath.
15:21Let's go, 14!
15:2310!
15:24Good effort!
15:255!
15:26All the way to me!
15:27Every last bit in your tank!
15:29Crying doesn't make it easier!
15:32Stop trying!
15:34Get in there, get your head up!
15:35Get ready to go again!
15:39Get up!
15:40Get up!
15:42Get up!
15:43Come on!
15:44Get in there!
15:45Get up now!
15:46Pathetic!
15:48Drag her up!
15:49Drag her up!
15:50You've got ten seconds to be on your feet, otherwise I'm taking your armband!
15:54Fucking stand up!
15:55This is fucking pathetic!
15:58Number four!
15:59Hurry up!
16:00Let's go!
16:01All the way up!
16:02Let's go!
16:03All the way up!
16:04Your fucking heads will get ready to go!
16:07Just to put it into perspective, you think that's heavy, you wanna carry the ammunition for a .5 heavy machine gun.
16:13You get to the top of things like this and you have to fight, you have to be good to go even though you're fucked.
16:17Is no good falling to the floor?
16:19Is that understood?
16:20Yes, sir!
16:21Breathe, just shut the fuck off!
16:23Get yourself composed!
16:24Let's get ready to go!
16:26Ready to go?
16:27Yes, sir!
16:28Ready to go?
16:29Yes, sir!
16:30Yes, sir!
16:31Ready to go?
16:32Yes, sir!
16:33Take the chains off, drop them by your feet.
16:39The sickener is over.
16:42Remember, as long as you're giving your 100%, the DS can see that.
16:47It's a good effort.
16:48Fucking heads up.
16:49You deserve to have your heads up, so get them up.
16:51Don't worry about that.
16:52It'll tell you to be.
16:55Let's go.
16:56Move fast!
17:04You did great.
17:11You did so good.
17:12You did so good.
17:13I was right in the back.
17:14I couldn't move any quicker.
17:16Great job, though.
17:17That was 100% the hardest one for me.
17:19Yeah.
17:20Because we're absolutely exhausted as well.
17:22Yeah.
17:23Them chains.
17:28Those jerry cans were absolute gits.
17:30Beyond gits, weren't they?
17:31They were.
17:34I never want to see a mountain again.
17:36Ever.
17:42Come on, then.
17:43Let's move, quick as.
17:45Everybody in the canteen for lunch.
17:49Well done, everyone.
17:50I thought you were bloody epic.
17:52Massive effort.
17:53That weren't fucking easy.
17:54No.
17:55Bloody well done.
17:56Epic.
17:57When you actually looked round up there, when we were standing there,
17:59the views were incredible.
18:00Hold on, I think I looked.
18:02I was moaning the whole way up.
18:04I was going,
18:05Oh!
18:07Oh!
18:11I was doing the same.
18:12I was going, I need a minute!
18:13Because I turned into a fucking gorilla.
18:19Number four!
18:23Come over to me.
18:25Having pushed recruits to physical breaking point.
18:29Face up, wall.
18:30The DS will now test their emotional resilience.
18:34I've got you.
18:35Just walk, okay?
18:36Yeah.
18:37One of the greatest qualities the Special Forces Operator has is the ability to control their emotions.
18:43So it's important that we test these recruits mentally and emotionally.
18:47Step over.
18:49We're looking to see what the recruits will survive on this course looks like.
18:53Sit down.
18:55Right.
18:56Shortly.
18:57That's going to ring.
18:58Okay.
19:00Some of the recruits might think this is a reward.
19:02But whether they choose to answer that phone or not, this is a test.
19:06And us as DS will be watching them.
19:08Oh, my God!
19:22Didi!
19:24Oh, my God!
19:27Is it Mama?
19:29Hello, my darling!
19:32I love you!
19:34I love you so much!
19:36Hello, my babies!
19:38Wait, who is it?
19:40How are you getting on?
19:41I thought you'd be home by now.
19:42I swear to God, this is the hardest thing I've ever done in my life.
19:48I hate to say we're all...
19:49I don't think you're still there.
19:51Really?
19:53Go all the way.
19:54Because you know you got this far.
19:56I wanted to have this armband in so many times.
20:00In my head, all yous kept saying,
20:01don't take that armband off.
20:02Don't take that armband off.
20:03Yeah.
20:05Bye.
20:07When the recruits get the opportunity to answer these calls...
20:10..it will affect each and every recruit in a different way.
20:17Look at the fucking state of me.
20:19I think it's important that each recruit has a lot of self-reflection.
20:23They know how the phone call home will affect them.
20:27I've literally had such a journey thinking of ups and downs.
20:29Composure is the main word that I'm going to take home with me from this.
20:32To be honest, she is more composed than she has been fucking since the start of it.
20:36You're amazing. My girl.
20:37I love you.
20:38I love you.
20:43This will be emotionally challenging for these recruits.
20:47It can be positive and it can be negative.
20:50How are you, mate?
20:51It's fucking nice to see your face.
20:52Jesus.
20:56How is it?
21:01It's been soul-searching.
21:05Tough.
21:07Really tough.
21:08I've had some really horrible mental battles.
21:15There might be a chink in their armour.
21:17Hey!
21:18Hey!
21:19Wave to Mummy.
21:20I miss you.
21:21I'll be home soon.
21:24Them little doubts that started creeping in,
21:27might be their undoing.
21:31You holding up okay?
21:34Yeah.
21:37Yeah.
21:39She doesn't give much away, does she?
21:41I guess she's put on a brave face.
21:46Oh, what's that name?
21:47Time up, I think.
21:49Yeah, that's right.
21:50Mommy's got to go.
21:51All right, bye!
21:57In the Special Forces, we spend a lot of time away.
22:02Psychologically, it's important that you can engage with your family back home,
22:05but not let it affect you and focus on the mission in hand.
22:10Hello, darling!
22:11Hi!
22:12Hi!
22:13Oh, Em!
22:14Oh, Em!
22:15Oh, Em!
22:16Oh, Em!
22:17Oh, Em!
22:18She's in the house with floods of tears.
22:19That opened a can of worms.
22:20She's looking a bit fragmented.
22:21Yeah, definitely.
22:22Yeah.
22:24Yeah.
22:25Yeah.
22:26Number 14!
22:27Number 14!
22:29The last recruit to be offered a call from home...
22:31Take your cap off.
22:32Put it away.
22:33...is number 14, Mac.
22:34Just face there and put your hands against the wall.
22:35For me, personally, I used to welcome a phone call home.
22:38Speaking of my friends and family used to give us motivation and morale
22:40so that I could focus on the mission in hand.
22:41Sit down.
22:42Okay.
22:43That's going to pop up, sweep across, and talk to it.
22:48MUSIC PLAYS
23:13MUSIC PLAYS
23:17MUSIC PLAYS
23:24Why are you not answering it?
23:26Maybe he doesn't mind.
23:29MUSIC PLAYS
23:33He looks a bit lost there.
23:34He looks like he doesn't know what to do.
23:36MUSIC PLAYS
23:46MUSIC PLAYS
23:55Why are you not answering it?
23:56Maybe he doesn't mind.
23:58In a special forces pre-battle ritual, number 14, Mac, has not answered his call from home.
24:05MUSIC PLAYS
24:10What's going on in that head?
24:12I'm looking forward to seeing what head space is in.
24:15Yeah.
24:24Hello.
24:25Hey.
24:26Hi.
24:27Hi.
24:29What did you do?
24:30I didn't answer.
24:31Oh.
24:34Why?
24:35You don't want to do it?
24:36No.
24:38No.
24:39Yeah.
24:42I wouldn't have been able not to do it.
24:44So he just needed to know that everything was okay.
24:47Yeah.
24:48Yeah.
24:49Number 14!
24:53Having refused his call from home...
24:54Come on, you big fucker.
24:55...the DS want to speak to number 14, Mac.
24:57Stand still.
24:58Sit down.
24:59Why didn't you take the call?
25:01I think, like, it was my wife who called, obviously.
25:16And whenever she was with me, the-
25:29And whenever I go away, because I go away for periods of time, and we would talk every
25:35day, but you kind of hit, like, this weird rhythm and zone where you're talking, but
25:42not actually, like, you're communicating, but it's not as authentic or as real as what
25:47it is when it's in person.
25:48Checking the box.
25:49Yeah.
25:50And then we come back.
25:51It's, like, it's odd for a week or two while we figure it out again, and then off we go.
25:56In the military, the hardest part of a tour is coming back, readjusting, and from what
26:03you're seeing, I take it, that's similar in your world.
26:06Yeah.
26:06And I think when I'm racing, all of your focus is, what can I be doing right now to make sure
26:11that I'm going to be as good as I can be when I stand behind the blocks?
26:14Yeah.
26:15It's like shutting your eyes or drinking water or walking 10 less steps.
26:18Like, you do it all.
26:19Wow.
26:20And so there's almost just, like, that consumes your whole brain for that period of time.
26:25So, yeah, it's pretty internal in that sense.
26:28What about your wife?
26:30Is she an athlete too?
26:31No, but she's been with me my entire career, essentially, like, from the age of 18.
26:37We've almost, like, trained ourselves over a decade to have that experience, and she knows
26:47that that is how I am.
26:51But it's not, doesn't stop it from being selfish.
26:55If you could do it again, would you have took the call?
27:03No, Steph.
27:04What I'm seeing is you've got strong moral compass, but we're going into a few years now.
27:10You're going to have to think outside the box, and you're going to have to build rapport with people
27:14that are potentially the enemy.
27:16You might need to soften, be flexible, be moldable, because ultimately, if you were to get captured
27:23by the enemy, you've got to offer something up, because otherwise, it'd be your head that's on the block.
27:29Yeah, 14.
27:31What is required next is that flexibility.
27:34So take that on board.
27:37Understood.
27:38Guard!
27:47Stop.
27:49Turn around.
27:53Turn around.
27:55Being an athlete, you have to learn how to control your mind and your emotions.
28:03The process of training every day and racing, you just figure out how to navigate and manipulate
28:09your, almost your own emotions, to achieve whatever you're trying to achieve.
28:13How was it?
28:14That was all right.
28:16It's just about why I didn't answer.
28:18Yeah.
28:19Can you go get out?
28:20No, I'm okay.
28:22Cool.
28:23Shock.
28:24But I, I hope that I have the tools to be able to, to get to the end.
28:38Can you just stand there and look at my boobs?
28:40Yeah.
28:42Ignore my hairy nipples.
28:43They're lovely.
28:45But like, if, is that one, do they look okay?
28:48Oh, fuck.
28:49Yeah, what are you worried about?
28:52I'm worried about this one dropping down, because it did last time.
28:55I'm too much exercise.
28:59No.
28:59Okay, good.
29:00Sorry, I was really trying to have a look there.
29:01I'm not, I'm not, I'm not.
29:02They're good boobs.
29:03Love nips.
29:04Thanks.
29:10What do they say?
29:11A thousand days on the run, better than one day in captivity.
29:13Yeah.
29:15I enjoyed the run.
29:16I did.
29:16Yeah.
29:16You've been chased and split up on your own.
29:18It felt real.
29:19Yeah.
29:20Soon, recruits will be sent on one of selection's most unforgiving exercises.
29:27Escape and evasion.
29:28I remember coming through the woods.
29:30We started off with a team of four, I think.
29:32And we were all quite jolly about it.
29:33I thought, there's nobody in here.
29:34Yeah.
29:34And then the next one, the helicopter's up, the dogs are out, and we all just split.
29:38And then I could hear somebody getting caught in the corner of the field.
29:40He's one of ours.
29:41Dogs have got him.
29:42In the end, when we all came together, he had a vest and a pair of, like, spotted underpants on.
29:47That's all he had.
29:48He'd been on the run for three days, isn't he?
29:50It was a dark, stormy night in the desert.
30:06They really know how to mess around with your brain, don't they?
30:11Having been mentally and physically drained for the past 12 hours,
30:15the recruits are about to enter the final stages of selection.
30:22Let's go!
30:24Go, go, let's go!
30:26Let me get!
30:27Let's go!
30:28Get the fuck out!
30:29You're on the side!
30:31Helper to me!
30:32Go, go, go, go!
30:33Helper to me!
30:35Helper!
30:36Escape and evasion is probably the worst scenario you can find yourself in in the Special Forces.
30:41We're on the attack!
30:42Let's go!
30:45Let's go!
30:46It's disorientating.
30:47You're deep behind enemy lines with the enemy looking for you.
30:51Helper to me!
30:52Get in the vehicle!
30:54Let's go!
30:55We've given the recruits all the tools to be successful on E&E.
31:02It's down to them now.
31:04Their self-motivation, their self-belief,
31:06and the knowledge that they've got in the team to get them through this.
31:10The recruits have been sent on the run.
31:16Let's get back in hell, didn't you?
31:18Split into two groups.
31:20On Team Bravo, the remaining British recruits.
31:23Number 4, Danny, 5, Gabby, and 7, Ben.
31:29That was wild.
31:31Express checkout.
31:33On Team Alpha, the Australians.
31:37Number 10, Emily.
31:38I really didn't like that.
31:41Oh, my God.
31:45Dropped at opposite sides of the valley,
31:48both teams must navigate four miles
31:50through hostile terrain to RV points,
31:54where they must locate trusted informants
31:58who will provide intel,
32:00leading them to extraction
32:02from a marked safe house.
32:10Right here, take a knee.
32:15You're on your own now.
32:16We're deep behind enemy lines, yeah?
32:19See that tower right there?
32:20Yes, sir.
32:21There is the mosque, OK?
32:22You're going to move as fast as you can
32:23through this field to get to that mosque,
32:26and then look for the sweet store.
32:27Ask for Hamza.
32:28Hamza.
32:28You need to move to a telecommunications shop.
32:32The person who owns the shop,
32:34they're there to help you.
32:35Do you understand?
32:36Yes, sir.
32:37Good to go?
32:37Yes, sir.
32:38All right, as fast as you can.
32:39Let's make it happen.
32:40Get to that track and move as fast as you can.
32:43It's the law.
32:44Move fast.
32:45The enemy's out there,
32:46and they're out to get you.
32:47Yes, sir.
32:47Yes, sir.
32:48Move up best speed.
32:50Keep vigilant, guys.
32:52Look everywhere if we can.
32:53Keep your eyes peeled behind, left, right.
32:55Get a fast walk on.
32:56This is it.
32:57Stay out of sight.
32:58What was that?
33:01There's dogs.
33:04In pursuit of the recruits
33:06is an enemy hunter force.
33:10Which way?
33:12Left or right?
33:13Go right.
33:17All right, let's see what these Muppets are up to.
33:20Back at base,
33:20the DS monitor the recruits' progress.
33:26Here we are, someone.
33:28Back.
33:30Ask this guy again.
33:31Do you know Hamza?
33:32Hamza?
33:33What the fuck are Team Alpha doing?
33:35What are they doing?
33:36Hamza?
33:37About that.
33:38Up here?
33:40Maybe this door up here.
33:42It could be further that way, too.
33:44Try that way?
33:44Yeah.
33:45I think working in a team will be interesting.
33:50I'm so used to someone just telling me what to do.
33:53Is it something we passed already?
33:55I don't know.
33:56Communicating, it's something that I have struggled with.
33:59Back.
34:00So I'm happy to sit back and just be no fuss,
34:03so that it's like one less person that the team has to worry about.
34:06Ask this guy again.
34:08Hamza?
34:09At the other end of the volley...
34:19We need to get there.
34:20Get some information, yeah?
34:22...taking an early lead...
34:23Team Bravo have located their first RV point.
34:28Yes, there on the left.
34:32Hi.
34:34Hello.
34:39All right, so if we're going to just follow this around
34:42to the second shop, let's go, let's move, move, move, move.
34:44Should we keep going around?
34:45There's not a second shop, but we're at the shop now.
34:46We're going to that.
34:47Oh, this is...
34:48Let's go, that's the second runway viewpoint.
34:49Let's go, let's move, move, move, move.
34:55I've got...I've got this blower as well.
34:58All right.
35:01Ben!
35:02Ben, Ben, Ben, Ben, Ben, Ben.
35:02I've got my second text.
35:03I've got a text.
35:04Head north-west through the deep palm, hit the riverbed.
35:07So we're aiming for a riverbed first,
35:08and then head to the car.
35:09Contact will be waiting for you.
35:10Get this guy.
35:12Let's check the compass.
35:13Keep going, straight round there.
35:14Keep up at the compass.
35:15What?
35:16Check your compass.
35:16We know where we're going.
35:17We know where we're going.
35:19Being faced with characters that are really overpowering
35:23and don't listen can possibly make me feel frustrated,
35:28but I'm very good at bottling it off.
35:30I don't know why we don't just use the road.
35:32Should we go on the road?
35:34Ben?
35:35I don't think people are aware that I'm running three businesses.
35:38I've got a team of people.
35:40I know how I want things done,
35:41and my team know that I know how I like things done.
35:46Oh, fucking hell.
35:48Guys, I feel we should go in there and hide all the way up.
35:51I mean, it makes sense.
35:52It won't harm to go in there anyway.
35:54It gets us out of sight.
35:55Ben, I feel like we should carry on going up north personally.
35:58No, I know.
35:59I agree with you.
35:59We want to hug the road.
36:01We hug the road.
36:02We stay out of sight.
36:03Under number seven, Ben's instruction,
36:06Team Bravo head away from the road
36:08and into the rough terrain.
36:11Ben?
36:11It's going to one-man parade him.
36:13Huh?
36:14It's going to one-man parade.
36:19Hamza?
36:20Down there?
36:22Trailing behind the Brits,
36:24Australian Team Alpha
36:26are still struggling to locate their first RV point.
36:30Hamza?
36:31When you're on the run,
36:32you're meant to remain covert.
36:33This way?
36:34That way?
36:35Meeting the agent,
36:36you have to be very cautious.
36:37Where?
36:38Can you show us?
36:39Yes.
36:40Take us?
36:40You can't afford to compromise yourself
36:42walking around a village
36:44asking people
36:45or going to the wrong place
36:47because you will get caught.
36:52Hamza?
36:54We have some
36:55information.
36:59Thank you, Hamza.
36:59So, it's this way
37:04and then around.
37:06Are you sure it's on that?
37:07If north is that way, right?
37:09What the fuck are they doing?
37:12And we've got to go east.
37:14Yeah.
37:15Let's just check
37:16if you've got that angle correct.
37:17North is that way.
37:19Okay.
37:20Oh, come on.
37:20They're going to fuck this up
37:21if they don't start sorting themselves out quickly.
37:25Do you have the phone?
37:26Yeah.
37:27Look for fire.
37:28That's the signal.
37:29Yeah.
37:30She's waiting.
37:30She can help.
37:31Don't stop.
37:34Zero, six, five, one, nine.
37:40By seeking help from village locals...
37:43Is that people coming?
37:44Team Alpha
37:45...have drawn the attention
37:47of the hunter force.
37:48Oh, there's the dogs.
37:51Fuck me.
37:53Bring me here.
37:53Grab me.
37:54Fuck me.
37:55This is terrifying.
37:58Oh, I love you.
37:58Oh, my God.
38:06We're going to get grabbed.
38:07Oh, fuck me, bro.
38:09After lingering too long in the village...
38:11This is terrifying.
38:14Team Alpha
38:14are being pursued
38:15by the hunter force.
38:17Let's just get under a tree
38:19or something.
38:21Just come in here.
38:24Get over to the edge.
38:26Drop over this.
38:26Yeah.
38:28They narrowly evade capture.
38:39I feel like we're going
38:40the complete wrong way.
38:42I think we've just done a circle.
38:46Under the leadership
38:47of number seven, Ben,
38:50Team Bravo
38:50are lost in the rough terrain.
38:54Look, we've come up
38:55all the way up here.
38:57We came through these palms
38:58and then we need to turn left now.
39:02On escape and evasion,
39:02it is critical that
39:04you've got strong leadership.
39:06Oh, come on.
39:06Here, give me a hand.
39:07Got three, two, one.
39:09That's all right, Danny.
39:10Otherwise, you're a group of individuals.
39:11You need someone
39:12that can pull everyone together.
39:14I reckon we should go back this way
39:15and find open space.
39:17This way.
39:17And be the glue
39:18that keeps you going
39:19in the right direction.
39:21Without that leadership,
39:22you are a rudderless vessel.
39:24This way.
39:25This way.
39:25No, this way.
39:26It's this way.
39:28Let's go.
39:29Let's keep going.
39:31That way.
39:32For fuck's sake,
39:33I thought you said the other way.
39:34Where the hell has he gone?
39:36Ben, I can't see you, mate.
39:38Yeah, I'm built for the SAS.
39:40Ben, can you not run off, please?
39:42I'm waiting for you.
39:44Rugby matches is always like going to war.
39:46And where's the map?
39:49You do kind of prepare for battle.
39:52Torch.
39:53Torch.
39:55As soon as we get through
39:56the bulk of it,
39:56I reckon we're about here.
39:57We're going to carry it across.
39:58He's about working as a team
40:00and doing your part well,
40:03he says.
40:08It's just pure bush.
40:10Fuck me, this is scary.
40:12All these rocks are coming away.
40:14Be careful of things
40:15coming back down, Dan.
40:16Oh!
40:20I can't fucking get up here.
40:23You can't.
40:23I can't get up.
40:25You can't.
40:25Move that rock out of the way.
40:27Gabs, I'm actually falling.
40:29It's so dangerous.
40:32Grace, find your strong hand.
40:34That right hand is a good hand, yeah?
40:35I can't do this.
40:37Can someone get me?
40:38Ben.
40:43Ben, Ben!
40:44Liam.
40:45Ben, keep going.
40:48Ben, keep going.
40:48Ben, keep going.
40:52Ben, wait.
41:00That's my fucking limit.
41:02Ranvo's progress is too slow.
41:03They need to get the shit together
41:05and get moving.
41:10The river bed comes this way.
41:13So if we just follow the trees to the back.
41:16Yeah.
41:16How do you know how to work it?
41:17Despite their near capture, Team Alpha are approaching RV2.
41:24Can we get down that way?
41:25Guided by number 10, Emily.
41:29Oh, we're glad to hear.
41:30If you get down low, can't you just crawl?
41:32Oh, yeah.
41:36Yeah, yeah, yeah.
41:37That's it.
41:38Yeah.
41:38That's the plan.
41:46She can help.
41:48Can you help, please?
41:52As is.

41:55What is in there?
41:56It's another map.
41:57Stay on the river bed until we hit the village.
42:01We've got to go to this safe house.
42:03To see how this is.
42:03Blue door.
42:05Blue door.
42:06Okay.
42:13Alpha are covering the ground fast.
42:14They're doing well.
42:16Can we get rid of the map or keep the map?
42:19Give the map in case we get caught.
42:22Shock it on the side?
42:24Yeah.
42:24We know where we're going?
42:25Yeah.
42:26Okay.
42:27Put it in there.
42:29Smart move.
42:30But they need to stay switched on now.
42:32Yeah.
42:32The phone could be tracked.
42:39In the lead, Team Alpha are closing in on the final extraction point.
42:46On the opposite side of the valley, Team Bravo are yet to find RV2.
42:54Contact will be waiting for you.
42:56Found the corner.
42:56We need to move at speed now.
42:57We need to move at speed now.
42:57Let's go.
42:58Yeah.
42:58Get down.
42:59Is that a car there?

43:21There's dogs.
43:22There's dogs.
43:22Their delay has allowed the hunter force to close in.
43:34I like dogs, but not this kind.
43:35We don't want to go on the road.
43:36Go back on that river.
43:38We need to get out of view, yeah?
43:40Yeah, yeah.
43:40We've got to cross this road.

44:48Further ahead, the Australians in Team Alpha reach the extraction point at the safe house.
44:58There's this.
45:01When you're approaching the safe house, you need to stay alert and cautious at all times.
45:06Is this?
45:06For the recruits, it's like they can see the finish line, but in reality, this is the most
45:13dangerous time.
45:15It's brutal.
45:15It's all in the place.
45:18Is this?
45:19This is information that could have been shared with the enemy.
45:21Getting captured is traumatic.
