01:46of a sudden you're like I can actually make oh yeah because you know my first breakthrough was
01:51Young and the Restless my mom you know we grew up watching soap so you would have thought I won an
01:54Oscar I mean she was like oh my god the best thing ever best thing ever and then you know I get I get
02:00desperate housewives and then my life changes and she's like are you sure you don't want to go back
02:05to Young and the Restless I was like no I'm not going back to Young and the Restless mom and now in
02:09life you're killing it do you ever get a character or have you ever had a character where you're like
02:13this is so not me or most of my characters have been that way Gabby on housewives was self-centered
02:20narcissistic superficial materialistic hated kids like exact opposite of me I'm like very domestic I like to
02:28sew and I like to cook dinner and breakfast and I make my own butter and the sourdoughs and all of
02:34that here's another question yeah only murders in the building I know that must have been a fun
02:39project oh my god I was so excited when they called me I was in my element you were I was like because
02:44you're just firing on all cylinders with these comedic geniuses and it was so amazing yeah you found
02:49your home pod I found my tribe well speaking of tribe yeah uh you know the whole reason we're here
02:56today you guys don't even understand I owe Bonnie so much mostly for you know keeping me grounded and
03:04being my surrogate family here in LA when I was so far from my family and so far from my sisters I
03:11actually love this house I love their neighborhood and the thing that has never made sense to me is
03:17this kitchen they entertain a lot and every time I come over you can see the kitchen's not very
03:22functional and they still have an amazing time you know they're just like well well you're gonna
03:26make do exactly and they've never had the time to really attack the things that they want to improve
03:34on the house because they had twins so they bought the house twins ruin everything and they get twins
03:39and she just jumped into survival mode on top of a full-time job now she has two more full-time jobs
03:45twins she's the sweetest human being in the world and she's always just going oh one day you know one
03:52day I wish I could have my dream kitchen yeah this is the day this is the day to pull off this big
03:59surprise Eva has been conspiring with Bonnie's husband Adam so while Bonnie is working in New York for
04:05the next four weeks Adam and the twins are actually moving in with Eva so we can get to work it's so great
04:10their kids ride their bikes here it's a lot of kids in the neighborhood so you have keys I do I'm so
04:16happy this is a surprise because if I told Bonnie I was gonna redo her kitchen just as a gift she would
04:22not allow it she would be no no no that's too much we're fine so I got them out of the house we are
04:29seriously on a ticking ticking time clock okay you're gonna see a lot of potential oh whoa I now know what
04:43you were talking about this is the heart of their home this is the heart beat of the family is this
04:50kitchen and it has been since medieval times yes they spent a lot of money on stuff you couldn't see and
04:57so the kitchen was put on the back burner you know that living area the living space was like
05:02it's fine everything was it's fine it's gonna do and then she had twins oh the dishwasher's not even
05:07installed it really warms my heart that I can finally give back to Bonnie I think I owe her so much
05:14everything that she did for me when I first got to Hollywood but also the things she continues to do
05:19for me and my family she's just an angel Bonnie and I have been friends for 25 years I met her
05:27within the month that I moved to Hollywood we were both 21 and we kind of have gone through every
05:34step of our life together I was here trying to be an actress and Bonnie was the only friend that had a
05:40job in our group and she was the only person who had a car so she often would drive me to my auditions
05:46I would sleep on her couch she lent me dresses I really would not have made it in Hollywood without
05:53Bonnie's love support money dinners I talked to Bonnie every day she literally is my best friend
06:02we've been through everything together our single years our married years we've had children together
06:08you know we're very close there's not a weekend that I'm here in town that we're not together
06:14barbecuing at each other's houses we were pregnant at the same time we gave birth at the same time and
06:19now our kids are the same age so they're constantly together um we have a really unbreakable bond I grew
06:25up with three sisters and when I moved to LA I was craving that sisterhood and and I found it
06:31okay don't pull don't pull too hard yeah but there's this this double height thing I know she hates and
06:40like I said because she has so much stuff here that should be in a pantry the kids don't eat here
06:44they don't do their homework here everything happens like over there and I know she would
06:49like a different setup here you know back in the day they like to do this little raised island sort
06:54of thing like a two-tier because I thought was fancy but it's just not functional because you now
06:58anything that could sit right here is either going to fall into the sink or break it's it's not usable
07:03I mean you can see that whoever did this kitchen doesn't cook like it's her cooktop but then the oven is
07:08over there no yeah well and also you have a huge kitchen and then your microwave is sitting on the
07:13countertop that should be integrated into the cabinets yeah oh I hate her kitchen yeah and you
07:18know the other thing is Bonnie entertains a lot and I've been in the kitchen helping going ah this is
07:23so uncomfortable and so I feel her pain every time I'm in her kitchen you know having twins that's a lot
07:29of dishes it's like the cups but so things have to be accessible too um but also they entertain a lot
07:35so platters and serving dishes if these are party people they need like an ice machine or something
07:40well that and like look at how old these cabinets are look at that this has been this way since they
07:46bought the house what is this drawer even no it's nothing there's nothing there you think that used to
07:52be something well I think it's I don't know what they wanted it for aesthetic look there's a lot of
07:57problems with this space okay first of all there's no pantry it's a pretty big kitchen to not have a
08:03pantry like whoever made this kitchen was not a cook you're right there's no pantry at all no
08:11pantry and by the way there's not a lot of storage either so like the limited storage that there is is
08:16for dishes I would love to see the kitchen expanded a little bit yeah but this could actually be a kitchen
08:25where you do kind of a double island situation oh really that would be you would you would replace
08:32this one though replace this island and then have another island over there so you have seating on
08:36both sides with some additional storage so you could have the kids here doing homework I mean
08:40there's tons of space over there and are those structural whatever that is they probably are we
08:44can find out how long are they away for right now is it one month yeah so we wouldn't have the
08:51ability to submit permits and redo structure and everything to get rid of those maybe we'll open up
08:56and see if we can reduce them a little bit yeah that's actually a decent area because if you look
08:59actually at the ceiling here that kind of defines what is the kitchen area it's a big space but it
09:06has no purpose and direction oh wait hold on a second look at this there's a huge wasted space right
09:12here oh my god so we got nothing there's nothing there well there's probably structure here too yeah
09:17but that structure we could handle back there a little bit right but we could conceivably do some
09:23sort of pantry space here well it would make the most sense for this to be in line yeah with that
09:28wall if it comes out yeah or you know it would actually be kind of cool because it's facing your
09:35entertaining area and obviously they like wine to have a wine cabinet facing this way you could do
09:43like a nice tall yeah or or or a coffee station yeah you could just do something that has somewhere
09:49for wine somewhere for coffee a little bit of storage whatever yeah yeah and she's a big coffee
09:54drinker so what's more important wine or coffee don't make me choose wait i love here's the thing i do love
10:01about this house is the amount of light coming in yeah i know if you can see like if you go outside
10:06oh my gosh what's happening here with this no oh i know i know these doors always get stuck oh my god
10:13look at this don't break it more hold on you want me to get it oh gosh that's no good but it won't
10:18close so so now you don't break oh you gotta lift it here watch that i know okay that's no good
10:25that's bad it's this is just old i mean there's new technology that would be nice and smooth here but
10:31when you have a yard like this you need to be able to enjoy it but i do love that it's wall i mean it's
10:35almost end to end just rearranging the way the living room is is gonna allow for the kitchen to
10:41shine you know right now it feels very separate in reality this space is mostly going to be
10:47styling uh that is going to be full-on demo and construction yeah over there i know you told us
10:55with your projects um when you're tackling a renovation you basically show up and say to your
10:59designer bye um here are the keys see you in a year yeah you ain't doing that with us no you know
11:04why i care more about this than my own house you're willing to get a little hands-on oh yeah
11:09no i want to participate as much as i can in making this her dream kitchen your website currency

12:24the fact that that kitchen came apart within seconds tells you a lot about the quality
12:29that was put into it yeah all of our strength this is for you body

12:51it was easy to break everything but it was that was back breaking work

13:15okay all right look that's a beam what does this mean well it's not ideal because now it's more

13:27in there they strike me as very hard working guys very knowledgeable they've been around they've seen
13:33it all so this beam continues all the way across but they still have a post under it it's not split
13:39but it is split over there upstairs is a total spider's web of structure there's a big beam
13:46that goes across here so unfortunately that restricts some of what we can do that's important
13:52um but then there's like random loads coming off all different places so unfortunately some if not
13:58all of these posts have to stay yeah because we don't want the house to collapse no no and you can
14:04really feel what i felt from both of them is like they're so excited to help me help somebody
14:09can i trust you with the i know it looks i'm so excited it becomes real when you can see the
14:29material i know i'm glad i'm making the decisions right now for this kitchen because i know her so
14:35well i think i know her better than she knows herself we talked about two islands yeah you've
14:40got tons of space here you know she feeds her children breakfast they need to do homework they
14:46want to sit you know where everybody else is i mean i think a second island could be super useful
14:52for those functions is this island going to be that high no i would do countertop height here we're
14:57going to basically do accessible storage from both sides so we'll have 48 inches of depth you know some
15:02stools that tuck under that's nice these as well so you could have so everything tucks under exactly
15:08do you keep a sink there i would i could do a prep sink this is a strange line right here i find
15:14you come in this is the plane on the wall and then it jumps down to the where it is now i think
15:20we reimagine this and we bring this line right up and then into that wall yeah my thought is we do
15:28get rid of this little mini wine fridge down here and we do a wine feature facing this way yeah and
15:34then we could actually do kind of a cool pull out coffee station or just access to a coffee station
15:41right there facing into the kitchen into the kitchen yeah yeah yeah i love that so coffee this way wine
15:46that way great food this way yeah and where's the pantry oh yeah this whole first section where they
15:53currently have the wall ovens we won't need that because we're gonna put a proper range in here okay
15:57so this whole first section is pantry right here and then we're also have a nice big fridge yeah she
16:05needs a big fridge bonnie could be really indecisive i'm not that person i'm gonna make executive
16:10decisions and i'm gonna decide the vibe that this kitchen should have the flooring will run all the
16:16way through i want to do a beautiful hardwood right now they have tile in it also feels kind of like that
16:2190s tile i don't like the tile that they have no yes i love i love the uh veins no grain grain yeah
16:30i love wood and i know bonnie's gonna love wood and and and lightness which one's your favorite
16:37um i love a good mid-tone so i would say something here or here yeah i think these are really great
16:41me too i do like this one yeah yeah so if you're good with that this would be our flooring we will run
16:48this all the way through replacing all of the tile wow then for the kitchen cabinets
16:53you you said uh she likes just a white kitchen every time she's we look at like kitchen magazines
17:00or instagram she's like look at this and it's like all white it needs to feel light and airy and
17:07not so modern that it feels cold but it needs to be brought into the 21st century
17:14so this is a sand tone interesting the nice thing is though under the illumination
17:19in that kitchen yeah this will look quite white but it's just a little bit more interesting
17:23especially if we pair it up with some wood i mean i don't want it also don't want it to look like a
17:27wood showroom yeah the floors are wood and it was it's like eight different kinds so maybe we just keep
17:32this to the islands so so we can do the perimeter base and uppers in this and then we could do the two
17:38islands in the wood another way though that we can add a little bit of color mix things up a little
17:43bit a little interest is with the veining on the counter so we could do a really nice oh yeah that's
17:49a little veiny too veiny yeah so this is too much that's too much this is too little okay yeah what is
17:54it slate no this is actually porcelain so indestructible you have a family home yeah you have to have stuff
18:00that is going to stand up to family that will be durable let's kick start this makeover by swapping
18:05that dated tile floor with an elegant mid-tone oak that will brighten and warm the space then we'll
18:10replace the old patio doors with new contemporary sliders that allow for seamless access to the
18:15backyard in the kitchen we want to achieve that serene neutral palette eva says bonnie has always
18:21wanted so we'll combine sand colored cabinets with stylish white porcelain countertops state-of-the-art
18:27appliances coupled with a large pantry bougie coffee station and new built-in wine fridge will
18:32span our new layout and maximize both function and flow for bonnie the five-star focal feature though
18:39not one but two oversized islands both featuring matching porcelain countertops with the second
18:44boasting a sleek waterfall edge these duo islands will flex for breakfast homework and an oh so choice
18:51hot spot for entertaining finally the living room is getting a dramatic glow up cozy seating centered
18:56around a large screen tv will multi-function for movie nights or when bonnie just wants to kick back
19:02with a good book after a long day with the twins we're done well we're nowhere near done but it's
19:08going to have an amazing impact on her daily life how she feeds her children how she entertains how she

20:08the first thing when i saw the space that went through my mind is the flow from inside to outside
20:13needs to be fixed so are you looking more like a sliding glass door or do you want to do a bifolding
20:18door system like i have the bifold system at my house okay yeah so same door system that you have
20:25yeah it's it's gorgeous i mean they do have space but i love your sliders like the oversized sliders
20:31do you want to do a three panel or a two panel what's the width of this this is about 36 inches so okay
20:36so it would be it would look real busy in my opinion if we went with the three panels so for
20:41the 120 this is 120 this is 120 inches so you get two really nice big panels right here the energy
20:48efficiency on these doors are fantastic as well would we have the one window would be affixed yes
20:53this would be a fix just like how that one is right now yeah and then the other two collapse into
20:57it so you would have a gigantic 120 inch entrance from the backyard absolutely yeah nice nice wide opening

25:06the most important reason we're redoing her house look at her storage oh she's gonna cry she's gonna
25:13cry over this hi look how many shelves there are all this storage she's she's not even going to know
25:19what to do with all this storage now oh my gosh oh that goes up there yeah what's that hold on a
25:24second here the top isn't attached we don't have our clearance so it's just longer than that it's
25:30supposed to be that size we have to have 18 inches of clearance this is about an inch short
25:35how do you fix that then well the main cabinet we can keep these are fine then i just need to reorder
25:40these guys it's nice to have problem solvers on the team they've done this a million times so
25:45they know how how to fix it oh that goes on top god these are like legos you guys i know right that's so
25:52cool ah yeah this i don't like the look of this either so we have this gigantic gap this should have
25:59been taller because otherwise if we put a fill piece up here it's going to make it look like it
26:03was an afterthought yeah so the next size up would be 48 if they have it which would actually be perfect
26:08well what if they can't do it in time though so then we would have to modify so we would
26:14raise it the extra eight inches we're already cutting this and repainting so we would then extend
26:19down but you would have a little hairline seam which is not ideal or just ask bonnie to never open
26:25this cabinet i'm not nervous at all you have all the screws and all the counters i mean timelines
26:31always scare me but just seeing the progress from today i thought you guys were going to do this why
26:37am i here every day the very first thing i said when you said you're going to do this i was like
26:42you were getting your hands dirty yeah but i thought that was like demolition it's all being
26:47done with this amazing quality and amazing design and amazing aesthetic i didn't know i was going to be
26:53here every day i'm so excited i cannot wait to do the reveal i've never seen somebody drilling with

28:46i love this double island situation because it gives her not only all that storage underneath
28:51and all of the countertop space as well but it also gives her an immense amount of seating that she
28:57didn't have before that's going to be a game changer for how she lives in the space so oh my god but
29:02look how much room there is between these well here you need more room because i know you can tuck
29:07the stools in but you still if somebody's sitting there you still want to be able to walk through
29:10no problem and you know what i love is this this makes life easy oh that makes life so much easier
29:17you can't have regular full height drawers here because when it's closed you couldn't get into the
29:21top drawer yeah you guys are so smart you've done this before once or twice yeah good i made some
29:27great choices in this kitchen i'm a kitchen girl but what's happening here put your pointy fingers
29:33away there's feels like there's something missing here there's a whole bunch of stuff missing here
29:40yes we're trying to finish that all off but we're waiting on those cabinets uh the hood so we're doing
29:47a beautiful venetian plaster finish on here what do we want to do do we want to go light do we want to
29:53go dark do you want my opinion would you rather i show up i don't really need your opinion but you can
29:58show me so we want something complimentary and that's going to be either going darker than the
30:02cabinets or it's going to be going lighter than the cabinet oh i would definitely go lighter you think
30:06so because i was going to go darker so you can when you look through oh yeah lighter
30:14is there anything i could say right now where you'd be like okay i'd consider
30:17darker no no show me your darker okay i'm going to go to the color over here because this is the true
30:21color you could do something that's kind of in that tone right there it looks like it's trying to
30:25match and not matching you could go crazy dark if you wanted to go crazy there's other plays we can
30:30go if you if you really like light right so this is still got a little gray in it this is a little
30:35bit more pure right that one's nice and so i didn't want to go dark with the hood because i feel like
30:40your eye will go straight to that focal point if it's too dark i would go lighter because you said
30:45it's venetian plaster so it has a little texture right yeah exactly yeah yeah lighter you want to go
30:51white i think this is it yeah okay are you stubborn no i'm just telling you why i'm right

31:55look at look at this yeah that's good it's opening without breaking bonnie and adam have this beautiful
32:04backyard that always felt inaccessible because of the problematic doors and having to keep those
32:10closed never gave them the opportunity to have this indoor outdoor california feel these are like
32:17one finger really really heavy duty doors and the fact that they move this easy is pretty
32:21spectacular they stack all the way so you can really have it be total outdoor indoor living this
32:28looks like it's tinted it is so you've got your uv protection they're all weather doors even if you
32:33have direct sunlight nice and bright outside it's not going to transfer it's a thermal break the sound
32:38barrier as well with a door or a window is so much better yeah when you have an amazing backyard like
32:43this you want to have all that natural light pouring in you want the view outside especially when
32:47the kids are playing and now they have that this is a showstopper yeah it's going to improve the flow
32:52of their parties so much better grab a section and let's test the sound okay

33:51in time not only did we have the one swapped out but the other cabinets at the wrong heights
33:55so last minute we got everything came together and i'm glad because it looks seamless
34:01they are so detail oriented like we're gonna have to do this we're gonna have to do that their eye
34:09catches everything this couch i love it it's so soft oh look at this one that i was pregnant these
34:18colors pull out the colors in the fireplace they do yeah i learned a thing or two from you guys you feel
34:25like it's all tied together you feel like you're in one house but she arrives tomorrow we'll stay
34:30hidden okay you invite her in i'll go outside we'll hide down the hallway or something like that she's
34:35such a sweet kind woman and really never expects anything done for her and so the fact that we're
34:43doing all of this and for the kitchen to really be the heart of the house it's her dream we'll be here
34:50tomorrow morning and then you'll let us know when she's coming i will let you guys know it's always been
34:54her dream to to have this kitchen eva's got some design i got some taste you guys i've got some taste

35:13hi what are you doing here i'm getting your mail what okay then what's going on here no they're following me
35:23for the day but i just came to get your mail so i can put it inside no they're just gonna film for
35:31a little bit because i have to do this like i don't know day in the life of you know what follow me
35:35just just for two seconds okay okay let me get my luggage i'll get your luggage okay let me get my
35:38luggage it was like initial shock i haven't seen her you know actually a few weeks i missed you thank you
35:45for letting me stay here to see her here with all the cameras and it was just like eva always has
35:51things up her sleeve i had to reorganize a little bit
35:54i did a little more more than organize oh my god
36:08oh this doesn't even look like my house wait you're like where am i oh what
36:33what i have two islands you have two islands oh my god
36:50well i i want to say i did this myself because i have good taste oh i had some help

37:10i love you they they helped i mean they helped a little bit a little much she did most of it

37:54like oh my god imagine what that must be to have one of those okay look at all of this storage open
37:59that line you have two spice racks this one and that one on that side this is soft close also
38:05so okay okay you stop screaming are you kidding me you can scream as much as you want i've always
38:13loved the ice maker those little ice makers because that brown ugly cabinet right it was like falling
38:20apart but i was like one day i'll have a dream kitchen here it is show me how much pantry space did
38:28you have before uh this yeah check this out ready ready two full pantries plus storage across the back
38:39of both islands i can't wait to start putting stuff in there in the pantry you're gonna go grocery
38:46shopping just to put stuff in the pantry exactly let's take take a sec and take a deep breath yes
38:53right so when we first started talking with eva she talks about you like you're a sister and how
38:59much she loves you and how you pour your heart and soul into everyone in your community around you
39:03oh my gosh sometimes i always ask myself what must i have done in a prior life to be blessed
39:09with an incredible friend like she is we were definitely sisters in a past life
39:13right when you love you love hard you love hard and it suffocate you with my love
39:21but wait i want to show where the fridge is out of the way look at the fridge look at that and then
39:28this is the freezer the love that you've poured into all of this i mean it feels like it's just a
39:33different home it is a different home oh look at your sink look at how deep it is okay i the dishwasher
39:41oh my god i remember the dishwasher was falling out it was just such an awkward place so now it's here
39:48to here yes so now it makes everything and it fits you guys made it fit my favorite thing about this
39:54remodel is the flow it's just the functionality of the space now makes sense look at these floors
40:02all the way they go all the way all the way down the hall all the way down the hall just just just
40:10the flow again it's like this beautiful just energy about it i can see it in your body language where
40:16you're just like flowing from space to space flying with my glass of wine yeah you know they say that
40:23your home is is like a reflection of your soul coffee station there is okay that's gonna make me
40:29cry oh so you can put all the coffee stuff you know in here with eva is one of the things that we
40:35always had was having coffee and now i have a little bit of your soul in my house they've added this
40:44part so it's wine fridge for white and then the red will be there this just makes it more of a loving
40:52place that i know we're gonna celebrate so many more beautiful so many memories there thank you
40:56now all the parties will be at bonnie's that's right now oh my gosh okay this is the summer parties will
41:04definitely i think adam's gonna be most excited about the doors yes i can't wait to just see all of
41:11the family and the friends you guys coming over for the barbecues in and out look at your new living
41:17room here's the thing that that you guys were geniuses about was it was hard to redo the kitchen
41:23and not this space as well because it's just one big area the beautiful home that you know with adam
41:30and i being our first home but now you've made it into that dream home guys what's going through your
41:37yeah what's that what's going on um i just uh no one else knows me best than you to do this for me
41:45not me for the family for my family for the boys my husband and you know my extended family that is
41:51going to create so many memories in this lasting place here you know that we're here with you i love
42:00words aren't enough for what you've done for me this is just like the icing on the cake for my family
