00:00Retired Air Force General Romeo Pocquez was arrested upon landing at the Ninoy Aquino
00:04International Airport on Monday, January 5, this over an inciting to sedition charge filed
00:10by the Philippine National Police. Pocquez's lawyer says the complaint stemmed from a Facebook
00:14post that was critical of the government's handling of the flood control mess. Pocquez is
00:19an outspoken critic of the Marcos administration and is allied with groups supporting former
00:23President Rodrigo Duterte. He also helped lead the September rallies against infrastructure
00:28corruption but ones which were seen to be politically motivated to boost the Duterte bloc.
00:33Pocquez was also named as one of the alleged instigators of a planned coup against the
00:36Marcos administration last November, but he says his group only met with AFP Chief General
00:41Romeo Bronner Jr. to air legitimate grievances. His lawyer clarifies the complaints had nothing
00:46to do with the protests nor the discussion with Bronner.
