“When I was a child, I [had] a dream to explore the ocean. And I don't know what to do. But the ocean taught me.”

Huai-Pu Chen, a student at National Taiwan University, is Asia's youngest sailor to cross the North Atlantic. He and two other crew members sailed from the West Sahara Desert across the North Atlantic Ocean to the Caribbean last year.

“You can connect the world through the ocean. There is no boundary and there's unknown in the ocean, but the unknown means possibility.”

00:00Setting up on a new extraordinary adventure made me feel alive.
00:04Last December, I sailed with the Swedish and German.
00:09We sailed from the West Sahara Desert across the North Atlantic Ocean to the Caribbean.
00:21We don't have a destination in the beginning, so we discussed where we're going in the middle
00:27of the ocean, and we play like paper sister store and look our chart.
00:41Celestial navigation means freedom to me, the freedom on the high sea.
00:47Without GPS, without iPhone, we can use the natural world, the sun, the moon, and the stars,
00:55and even look in the current on the sea.
00:58Just embrace the nature, and you will know where you are.
01:02That's the beauty of celestial navigation.
01:05Some people will ask, is this boring on board?
01:08My answer is definitely no, no, because every day is new.
01:16The dolphin will swim with us, even the killer whale will swim with us.
01:21When I was a child, I had a dream to explore the ocean, and I don't know what to do.
01:29But the ocean told me, you can connect the world through the ocean, there's no boundary,
01:36and there's unknown in the ocean, but the unknown means possibility.
01:43So throughout my life, the ocean has told me, you have to set a dream, and throughout the
01:51time, the dream will come true.
