The Urban Cruiser is based on a new platform specifically designed for battery-electric vehicles. The structure eliminates crossmembers in the floor, freeing up more space for the battery without compromising interior room.

In the event of a collision, the battery is protected from damage by an outer frame and energy-absorbing side supports. The rear floor also provides impact protection and is designed so that only minor modifications were needed to accommodate the additional rear e-axle in the all-wheel-drive model.

High-strength steels in key areas contribute to the vehicle's high strength and rigidity, while also offering the added benefit of weight savings. Positioning the battery under the vehicle floor helps lower the center of gravity and promotes stable and agile handling.

Thanks to carefully tuned aerodynamics, it was possible to reduce energy consumption and maximize the vehicle's range. Measures include, for example, a full underbody cover. The flat, low-profile design of the battery pack also helps optimize airflow under the vehicle.
