00:02She's been performing for crowds for eight, since she was eight years old,
00:0512-year-old Taylor Swift.

00:16Very early on, she just knew she was going to have to work hard.
00:23I mean, it depends on how far back we want to go.
00:25But it escalated from school play, theater group, karaoke nights.

00:41Calling around to festivals and amusement parks
00:44to see if there was a spot for a little kid with a guitar
00:47and a couple of speakers.
00:50It was as basic as you can possibly imagine,
00:53dragging guitars through airports.
00:56Piling them into a rental car.
01:00Hit another city, another city, and just keep going.
01:07And she, from a very early age,
01:10always knew exactly how she wanted things to be.
01:14And she was always planning
01:15what her headline tour would be like.
01:18You know, I never heard her say the word fame
01:22or money.
01:26It was always just about the opportunity
01:30to go sing her songs
01:33and have everybody else singing those same words back to her.
01:36She would do these theaters,
01:41and they kept getting bigger and bigger
01:43and sold out faster and faster.
01:45So it was, um, a gradual thing.
01:53But I don't think that when you are doing that
01:57you ever, for a split second,
02:01take the time to think,
02:02it will become this.

02:28The European tour was so intense that, by the end, I was exhausted past a point that
02:57I can remember.
03:00So we need the break after Wembley to recharge not only our bodies, our energy, but our passion
03:11for giving that much every night.
03:16So that by the time we got back to the U.S., we were all just like fired up.
03:27Since we finished the massive European leg of the Ares tour, it's really just been trying
03:42to get back up to speed, being home.
03:49We have this two-month break, we'll kind of regroup and catch our breath a little bit.
03:54I'm taking care of my home life, and then we'll get ready for the final push.
03:59I love traveling, I love my job, it's the best.
04:03And like everything's planned for us, and then you get home and you're like, what do I do?
04:07And you have to learn how to schedule things for yourself again.
04:12So why I'm really excited for this break, so that I can sit right here and practice.
04:20I do live with my parents, my little brother, and my grandma.
04:25I love coming home to them, getting like home-cooked meals and stuff.
04:30I am eventually gonna get my own apartment in L.A.

04:41Rachel and I don't have children, but I mean, I went crazy how much I missed the dog.
04:47You know, just trying to get back into being a normal human, and having a schedule, and adulting.

05:33Nostalgia is a huge part of the Eros tour.
05:41If you were 12 years old during the Red era, you're going to remember certain things that
05:47you saw and certain things that you felt.
05:49It's my job to bring those feelings and those visuals back to you.
05:54Wardrobe is one way to do that.

05:57Oh, I'm so excited.
06:01The costume design for the Eros tour was undertaken by my longtime stylist, Joseph Cassell.
06:07He's been with me since I was 16.
06:12The Eros tour is all about the fans, you know.
06:16The reason I'm able to do my job so well is because I am a fan too.
06:25I love the organic way that Taylor and I work.
06:28It's like this secret language that we have.
06:31She would send me images.
06:32She'll be like, ooh, send me an image.
06:35And I'm like, aha.
06:36Wow.
06:37I saw Epiphany last night.
06:38You did?
06:39And I pulled about 50 different pictures from online.

06:45For the tour, we chose to be a little reflective and sentimental and tie in the designers who
06:54had been with Taylor from the beginning.
06:57I mean, dancing all night, yeah, my feet ache, but I'm wearing Louboutins.

11:26This is the tour gift wall where at the end of each tour we get a plaque thanking us for the you know for participating in the tour this is my first tour with her and I started with Taylor 2009 in the trajectory of my professional life and career yeah that's probably
11:56the zero to 60 right there strapped onto that rocket and have been able to do all of this with her which is great
12:03remember this oh
12:08it was her first birthday present from Taylor
12:14it's got a little photo of mommy and Sophie daddy and Sophie and then Miss Taylor as she calls her
12:22yes Miss Taylor we had both our kids while I was working for her so she was kind of around both of the births and I think that this was the first child yeah it was the first kid born while in the band yeah
12:35um and so yeah it was just I think it was a special moment yeah um yeah
12:40it's so wonderful being able to carry a professional family
12:47with you as you go through phases of life as you go through ups and downs and heartbreaks
12:54there is such a special bond among the touring family that's it's it's like having another family
13:07there are the only other people really in the world who know what this is like
13:11before the show after the show on the off days we are like this and that's not normal
13:20it's like she's handpicked these incredible people to be a part of this family
13:27most of the people I'm out here on the road with have known me since high school
13:34but also there are people that I just got to know in this phase of my life Jeslyn is one of the most
13:48talented resilient loving people I've ever been around she was the newest addition to our backup
13:54singers I started with her reputation I had never done a stadium tour before and so the first show was
14:02just like wow this is a lot of people we've been singing together for a couple of years and when
14:11Jeslyn got sick it was the first blow that the tour family experienced emotionally it was like
14:20completely unfathomable to us
14:23sucks while on tour I was diagnosed with breast cancer
14:31um and obviously it was devastating
14:37but every weekend we had a show so I still flew to the next city did a show with everyone and like
14:45in the middle of the week when we weren't doing shows I would fly back to LA and just had biopsies
14:50and just poked and frotted to learn really what I had to do treatment wise and then hopped back on
14:55stage and pretended like nothing was happening I'll never forget when she told us everyone was just in
15:04shambles and it's the not knowing when I let Taylor know she came storming in with hugs and crying and just
15:14saying I'm so sorry and her mom said you just take care of you and we'll be here when you're ready
15:20so six months I had to like take off and go through chemo surgery I had edema I had like skin issues I
15:36usually have all this curly hair lost about 75 percent of my hair I felt and looked completely
15:47different and just kind of watch my friends on live streams in the show it was a hard one because we
15:56got to come be together for months she was home by herself I miss you isolated from the family we
16:10just wanted her to know that no matter what under any circumstances if she wanted to come back she
16:17could goodbye treatment I said how quickly can I get back on tour after I'm done with radiation my
16:32doctor said that night but you have to get back into shape she literally finished radiation and got on
16:42a plane I actually have a video of when we saw each other at the hotel just coming back to this joy
16:51filled show and these people just emphasized even more how much we're a family I cannot believe that
17:09she was back in a few months the will to come back and do the hardest show ever none of us could believe
17:19it I still can't
17:39all right you just keep your body still in no way do I ever apply this to my at any point in the show
17:59I just want to flag that as I do every time I have to do pull-ups
18:03strong dislike two thumbs down you have gotten stronger in those throughout the years it's from
18:17all the pent-up rage and resentment I have for them so you should leave on Thursday night
18:22Thursday morning go there do a full run-through in the stadium which I'm really excited about with
18:30costumes I want to be like back in it so much that I can like not be so like remember your stuff that
18:38you don't want to forget like you know you don't want to see me do this without a rehearsal that's what
18:43you don't want yeah there are a lot of things that we pulled off on this tour that I've never
18:50even attempted on past tours I think the longest show I ever did before was two hours and 15 minutes
18:57I never would have believed you if you would have told me we would be doing a three and a half hour show
19:02now saying that is one thing doing that physically is another I've never worked out this much in my life
19:12it's horrible I really had to up my game in terms of physical training
19:23six months ahead of my first rehearsal running on the treadmill every single day at the tempo of the
19:32songs that I was playing while singing them out loud you just don't want them to see you panting
19:411989 and reputation are very high cardio anything's hard when you're scaling a stage that goes the entire
19:51length of an NFL stadium I think I run like eight miles in the show
19:55once we get to Miami the turnaround time from landing and performing will be very short
20:04we leave in six days haven't played the show in a couple months and there are some things I want
20:11to make sure that I don't mess up
20:13my ex-man brought his new girlfriend she's like oh my god
20:17I'm just gonna shake into the bedroom over there with a hella good hair
20:22won't you come on up and baby let me shake shake shake shake
20:25all right
20:34oh we are so back
20:41can I do a video um like out in the stadium with my cat
20:51we'll find a place out in the stadium but it'll be like me walking in
20:55with my cat just like take my sunglasses off and like so it would be behind me and then once I
21:04stopped start going around me like this it's basically like we're back in the
21:09office you know yeah yeah and I've got my most well-behaved cat for it
21:14she is my best one
21:25oh what an idiot oh shirts on backwards I knew something looked weird
21:35it's wild being back so it's lots of hugging telling the same story like 50 times for as
21:44what you've been up to over the break it's awesome it's awesome to be back it doesn't feel
21:47like work Florida one two three four we are starting our last leg of this tour
21:54we have 18 more shows left which is very bittersweet it's very sad
21:59we're cramming yeah cramming for the test at Miami stadium I'm a little nervous but but you know
22:13it's because we want it to be good oh man well we'll see we'll see what I remember

22:55I know I'm like I got really excited all of a sudden I gotta see if this can even happen
22:59because they put my boob cups on my rib cage either way I want to see it

24:23outfit for the reputation section not once people are going to lose their mind
24:44as we were getting ready to go back into the shows again Taylor was like mom I'm really worried
24:54I'm trying to go back in my mind and run through the show and I get to certain spots and it just
24:59stops and I said don't worry about it I said you're gonna get back on that stage
25:06and everything will come flooding back I guarantee it and I hoped that I was right
25:11but I didn't know performing that show is incredibly technical and hard this tour isn't kind of like
25:21oh we just fly by the seat of our pants around here no like we stage manage the shit out of this show
25:26we're dealing with lots of production elements lighting screen content pyro moving floors confetti
25:39costumes choreography there's so many moving parts and it has to be no mistakes perfect timing
25:47there's a lot going on that happens really fast a lot of fast cues from one end of the stage to the
25:58see piano lift up go it's nerve-wracking point three UFO go go go go
26:09it takes a lot taking the right stuff out at the right times so we all have to communicate well we're
26:19always moving the wings can be challenging we have had incidences where they broke if they're high winds
26:28it gets really hard for them because it's super heavy
26:30she's singing and having to engage and having to figure out what's coming next
26:45she has some flexibility in where she might go but there are sometimes when it's very exact
26:53and if she's not standing in the right place it's actually dangerous
26:57I don't want to fall in a hole and I don't want to have like pyro go off on my head
27:02I legitimately celebrate like every moment that something doesn't go wrong
27:06everybody is firing on all cylinders
27:10I work in the wardrobe department and I also am one of Taylor's dressers there's two of us
27:31every alpha change is about a minute and 15 or less our fastest quick change though is 39 seconds
27:41with her in the room those quick changes are like nothing you've ever seen before it is like
27:51watching a NASCAR race how many quick changes does she have 20 quick changes our crew helped us build
28:00for quick change booths from there we kind of travel through the underworld of the stage it's all very
28:06very fast we don't really have time for snags it's very choreographed every second counts every millisecond
28:17counts there were moments where I thought I don't know if these costume changes are gonna happen in
28:26time I'm only off the stage for a maximum of two minutes at a time those transitions it's like I'm going
28:33under the stage I'm getting on a weird like pulley system I'm getting pulled over here meanwhile I'm
28:40unzipping my thing I'm running upstairs I'm going into a different quick change room on a whole different
28:44floor I'm ripping this off I'm putting this on stomp your feet three times it's literally the most
28:50complicated system you have no idea the panic of worrying you're not going to be dressed in time
28:58for the song to start and it is that panic that drives me to never be late I remember one time I was
29:10running from the Evermore era I trip over the hem of my dress bust my knee I skid the palm of my hand off
29:22hobble into the quick change room blood's coming down my hand I'm changing into the reputation body
29:29suit the skin that's flapping off I just pull it off more blood they don't have a band-aid back
29:35there wasn't late wasn't late for the intro of that song the fans noticed it a couple days later
29:46they're like oh her palms gone I was like I am not acknowledging this what nothing's wrong
29:53that's always been like that it was really good but I made three mistakes and I'm so glad I made in a
30:08rehearsal you know what I mean yeah can I talk to you to the dancers real quick about how I'm supposed
30:13to fall off that thanks I've completely forgotten yeah she'll just remind me and I'll just do it
30:19right okay going up jazz hands look at that full moon it's gorgeous hi three mistakes in three three
30:36and a half hours it's not too bad it's been way worse before it's way way better than I would be

32:30you guys have been seeing in the stadium itself down in the bowl we haven't seen anything over 20
32:36in the last 24 hours that's good to know because it has been higher outside the bowl
32:39okay the weather element of playing outdoor stadiums is at times delightful and exciting
32:48at times it is frustrating at times it is feels uh really really horrific looking at precipitation
32:58right now it looks like as you go on later in the day the chances for showers start to increase
33:04like that's how much crazy weather we've run into on this tour
33:07this is the rainiest rain show that ever rain showed ever ever

33:34enjoy extreme wind do not like it do not love it do not like to see this the speakers doing
33:40this hate that don't want it when you hear the word lightning that's when we start having to really
33:49worry about postponements we also have the lightning detection system and this you can come in here
33:56monitor it come and go as you please all right we're good thank you then you get situations where
34:04sometimes it's kind of wonderful just cinema just drama just it adds to it it adds to the show
34:13if there aren't other weather situations at play
