World politicians reject U.S. attack against Venezuela. teleSUR
Transcript
00:00We are having also now more reactions coming from within the United States itself.
00:05We have, for example, Congresswoman Rashida just posted on X and said,
00:11Trump's illegal and unprovoked bombing of Venezuela and kidnapping of its president
00:16are grave violations of international law and the U.S. Constitution.
00:21These are the actions of a rogue state.
00:23The American people do not want another regime-shamed war abroad.
00:27It is something that also has been resonating in different authorities.
00:32Within the United States, we saw different people denouncing from congressmen,
00:37both Republicans and Democrats within the United States,
00:40denouncing that this action is completely illegal,
00:42that the Congress of the United States never gave its approval for the attack.
00:46We must remember that Trump is violating not only international law,
00:50but the United States laws as well,
00:52as the Congress is the only one allowed to approve any kind of military action.
00:59That's within the U.S. laws, but also in international law.
01:02The only organization, multi-author organization,
01:05that is allowed to approve an invasion of some kind of a third country
01:11is the United Nations Security Council.
01:13Of course, as we have seen from the previous two meetings
01:16that took place at the United Nations Security Council,
01:18with regard to this topic, this action was completely denounced and condemned.
01:24But the United States decided to carry out unilaterally,
01:28as empires do, Trump's illegal action to attack a sovereign people,
01:34the sovereign people of Venezuela.
01:37Now, the president of the European Council also took to Ex recently
01:41to denounce these actions.
01:43And Antonio Costa, the president of the European Council,
01:45he posted a tweet saying,
01:48I'm following with great concern the situation in Venezuela.
01:51The European Union makes a call to de-escalate
01:54and to a resolution based in a framework of international law
01:58and the consecrated principles of the UN United Nations Charter.
02:02The European Union will continue to support a peaceful solution,
02:06a democratic solution, an inclusive solution in Venezuela.
02:09which was in the efforts in coordination with the member states
02:14to assure the safety of European citizens in the country.
02:19This is a statement coming from Antonio Costa,
02:21in a way expressing the European Union's concern
02:26of what is happening in Venezuela.
02:28But as we have seen coming from Europe,
02:30there's been a lot of silence, we could say, coming from Europe,
02:34and they are being very timid, as we see it here as well in the post
02:39that Antonio Costa, the president of the European Council, just made.
02:44They only express their concern, but they do not condemn,
02:48they do not denounce the illegality of the actions
02:52that just took place early, early, in the early hours of this Saturday,
02:56the blatant criminal aggression committed by the United States
03:00against the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela.
