Dinosaurs, fighter pilots and turkey were among the characters that took part in the Great 2026 Christmas Tree Run in Ewshot on Saturday, January 3. The annual tradition sees villagers, often in fancy dress, run with a Christmas tree to the recycling point by the village hall.
Transcript
00:00We started the tree race about three years ago and the idea was just to have a laugh and also
00:15to recycle our Christmas trees at the recycling point in the car park in the village. We're
00:20lucky that the village is on a hill so it lends itself to an exciting race and the number of
00:26adventures has grown year on year and now it's a really fun way to start the new year so we all get together, there's fancy dress, there's
00:34medals, homemade medals by my family for the winners and then the loser has to serve everyone a drink and it's just a bit of fun and you can, you know, there's such a lovely atmosphere.
00:56I won, can you believe it? Yes, I'm very happy to win.
01:02Okay and what do you put your success down to?
01:04Probably having the freedom of running up on Caesars regularly and being slightly competitive maybe.
01:10It's a great event isn't it?
01:12Yeah it's a wonderful event, it's really lovely to be part of the village and to be sharing this beautiful day today with everybody.
01:17And just honestly, you guys are amazing and we couldn't do it without you and this is the best village and you're all amazing and goodnight!
