00:00Let's get to the women's side with another coach that I know
00:03and have a ton of respect, and that's Kenny Brooks.
00:07Kenny Brooks was a longtime coach at Virginia Tech
00:11and has now issued the turnaround of Kentucky women's basketball.
00:17Kentucky sits at 12-1 right now in the season
00:19with strong offensive numbers and early presence in the SEC,
00:24just coming off an 80-42 win over Hofstra.
00:28They're ranked in the top 25 of the APA season,
00:30and they're known for their high scoring is something that Kenny brought with him
00:35from his time at Virginia Tech to Lexington, Kentucky.
00:41They average about 82 points per game, which is top 25 in women's college basketball,
00:45and they play an up-tubble-style offense with high efficiency
00:49and are not afraid to push the pace and push possessions.
00:54They have balanced scoring.
00:55They have depth, and they often win a ton of games in double figures
01:02with multiple players getting to double figures, forcing teams to guard the entire roster.
01:10Their identity of the season is score first, create mismatches, and keep you playing with pace.
01:17Kentucky is scoring like the clock doesn't exist.
01:19That's a serious weapon for the SEC.
01:24Let's stay in the SEC, and maybe this is about coaches that I've either gone against
01:30and actually coached against Kenny Brooks when I was at Monmouth.
01:33Another coach I coached against when I was at Monmouth, but she was at Jacksonville, was Coach Yeo.
01:38And she has led a methodical rise of the Ole Miss program, an Ole Miss team that now is a national-level team,
01:49a team that's number 15 in the country, right now sitting at a 13-2 record,
01:55and really competing on the top of the SEC.
01:58So when you think about the SEC, right, you start to say, oh, well, it's Texas, it's South Carolina, it's LSU.
02:08It's a lot more than that.
02:10It's Oklahoma.
02:11It's Ole Miss.
02:13It's Kentucky.
02:14So how is Coach Yeo doing this and keeping his team in the net in AP Top 30?
02:19There's a couple of players you need to look at.
02:21One is Cody McMahon, scoring about 18.6 points per game as a reliable scoring option.
02:28Or it's Christine Iwala, getting you a nine-point rebounds per game,
02:33being a workhorse on the glass and cleaning up all the mistakes.
02:38Or it's the four-year and four-years and four-teams, Natasha Lattimore,
02:44who only gets you about 24 minutes a game.
02:46He doesn't start most of the time, but still at 24 minutes,
02:50blocks 2.1 blocks per game and gets you 6.4 rebounds.
02:55Ole Miss is balanced and efficient, not overly reliant on one star,
03:00and McMahon's scoring is backed by rebounding and defensive activity by her and her teammates.
03:04Their SEC success is real.
03:07This team matches up with anyone because of its play, smart ball, and it makes the extra play.
03:12Ole Miss isn't just winning.
03:13They're knocking off blue blood and climbing the SEC ladder with real authority.
03:18Let's see how they do during the SEC season.
