00:30it's an adventure of a lifetime my heart is pounding in my chest it really is wow oh my goodness me
00:41paving the way to a brand new lifestyle it's a pinch me moment so to be able to
00:46say it's mine does feel just surreal so join us as we catch up with those who transformed their lives
00:54when they escape to the country
01:07peace quiet and space to relax and just take it all in the countryside really is
01:21is a powerful tonic for mind body and soul so when tv health expert and nhs professional dr range
01:30asked us to help him cure his city blues and find a home surrounded by greenery
01:37we knew just what to prescribe on today's very special episode i'm catching up with dr range who
01:46back in the october of 2023 lovely to see you oh nice to see you set me the challenge of curing his
01:54urban ailments by finding him a new home in the peak district fresh air and countryside surroundings
02:01were the recommended prescription as was a home with character but he didn't want to give up the mod
02:07cons he enjoyed in his city pad it was a tough ask but this nurse was up for it
02:14get it denise nurse that's my name never mind
02:23this is my little apartment in london casual bafta just lying around
02:30at the time of his appointment dr range was juggling a busy life in london working in the nhs
02:36with his television career which saw him regularly traveling to manchester
02:41i've always been a city boy i love the hustle and bustle of city life i live above a roundabout
02:49so it can't get busier than that so if i come home after a night shift and um i need to get some
02:55kit this is what i'm faced with i might want to sleep but london doesn't after some expert
03:04self-diagnosis dr range felt a remedial injection of countryside living was called for
03:10to offset his urban and hectic work life we know through loads of research that actually getting
03:18out into green spaces doesn't just look nice it actually feels good because it's good for your brain
03:26the location dr range chose for his search was the peak district closer to his work in manchester
03:33and with the space and fresh air of the countryside he craved
03:38supporting him on his search was friend artist and manchester resident tom it'll be a bit of a
03:44shock to the system for ranch swapping his cuban heels for wellies but when he's in a more natural
03:49and calm environment he really really enjoys it dr range was after a countryside pad with a large
03:56sociable kitchen a couple of additional reception rooms at least two bedrooms plus scope for a home
04:03office he also wanted some easy to maintain outdoor space and he had a budget of up to 550 000 pounds
04:14just 15 miles from manchester in the hamlet of bleak hay nook my first option awaited the doctor's
04:20assessment a three-story 18th century stone-built specimen oh it's cute
04:32it's giving sort of old-school country is it is it going to have loads of spiders i'm i'm a modern sort
04:38of gadgets and gimmicks kind of inside persons but behind the grade two listed exterior modern interiors
04:47gave off no creepy crawly vibes come this way oh there's the kitchen this is lovely i'm looking
04:57for spinners and there aren't i know no there's no spiders this is great one more i want a little
05:04bit more just a little just a little it's a little bit more please denise somewhere to sit down come on
05:09then completing doctor's rounds on this floor was a snug cum office with a shower room and then there
05:18were two further levels to examine starting a flight above in the main bedroom cannot wait to see what
05:24you think of this there's a sofa in it yeah it's coming so we've got these lovely wardrobes so you've
05:31got plenty of storage and wardrobe space you've got those amazing million windows again they look like
05:37a million dollars
05:43i sent dr rangy off with tom to conduct further exploratory tests of this middle floor
05:49what houses look at this it's got like a ledge you're a ledge i know thank you well i could
05:54sit here whilst you're in the bubble bath i can do that time i've had nightmares about that um
06:00oh look at this it's really modern as well look at this there's loads of room in here there's so
06:05much more that you can do you could have a decorating party we could all come and be like that's what i'm
06:10worried about oh and on the top floor was the additional living space the doctor ordered
06:17oh my god what what you were you were saving this weren't you feeling hard look at that view
06:29so out of ten what do you think is the house for ranch i think it's wonderful yeah i'm like
06:35nine nine or ten i'm gonna be stingy this is a good eight if i didn't have to redecorate then it'll be
06:40a nine or a ten okay so the house is a strong eight yeah but let's not forget where we are as well
06:46got to be looking at a roundabout right right i know
06:52outside the pretty garden floats seamlessly into the endless views of the neighboring moors
07:00get deer coming up here horses you know what something like this is manageable and actually
07:06it's done really well isn't it it's nice you could do a lot here but first you have to buy it and that
07:13means you have to put a price on it 650 000 we're not in london dorothy
07:23not anymore this property is on the market for 500 000 pounds
07:30i delivered the space but my celebrity medic balked at the decorating he felt was needed
07:36and the silence of the surrounding moors it's so quiet it's strange i'm not used to this level of
07:45quiet i think um maybe the remoteness of it is sort of he's a bit daunted by that
07:52my next option in the village of upper mill was a more gentle introduction to rural life located close to
07:59the buzz of bars and cafes house number two we're looking at it here and the shops are just down
08:06there exactly so you get a bit of that kind of city vibe yeah but you are most definitely in the
08:11countryside okay from the outside seems like it's going to be lots of space and it's tall so it goes
08:18up i love three-floored houses i don't know what it is very townhouse-y and this attached grade two
08:25listed former weaver's house did not disappoint inside this is lovely isn't it and it's been
08:31styled so beautifully it has been styled so well we stepped through into a dining room with open plan
08:40access to the kitchen plus a separate utility with a cloakroom i think you might like this ranch oh what
08:49a lovely space oh wow so it's quite a quirky layout i think oh my gosh imagine having christmas dinner
08:56around a giant round table with all the tea post christmas i would like to okay or you imagine
09:03having loads of like cocktail-y stuff all down here all around and stuff so even if you're in the kitchen
09:08someone could be stood over here having like helping out and you're not in the way yeah yeah friends over
09:12there and there was more to throw into the cocktail shaker upstairs a large room to the front was being
09:26used as an office then at the back the first of the bedrooms it's cozy but there's still space around
09:34yeah you don't need lots of things in here this is country but it's not too like you know dusty and old
09:43i think the style of this house is really suiting ranch oh oh this is nice oh it's nice to have
09:52windows in the bathroom hello oh this is yeah this is me but let's see what he thinks when he discovers
10:00the suite on the top floor oh oh that's nice this is lovely oh this is a nice room it's good isn't
10:09i can see myself here yes this home took indulgence up a level with a floor entirely dedicated to a
10:17principal suite look at that view wow you see literally over the top of every single thing
10:23but some potential views were less warmly embraced hang on is that the neighbors hi yeah oh yeah
10:34god you give me giblets are on display
10:38you can just count doing circles in your robe with your coffee up
10:42outside in the back garden oh look at that a pathway led to a particularly private and partly wooded
10:52plot of around a quarter of an acre it's like you're out in the woods it's a lot of maintenance
10:58is it though you could keep it kind of rough and ready just like me i think it's brilliant from
11:05looking at it from the outside you have no idea what's in store and it's
11:12genuinely i'm chuffed i'm impressed how much do you think you'd have to pay for it
11:17i feel like this is going to be pricey 600 000. i'm going to say 460. 460 000 pounds well this one goes
11:29to you dr and you are right almost it's at 575 000 pounds the entertaining and luxury aspects plus
11:40proximity to a buzzing village appealed to dr range but the 575 000 pound asking price was a financial
11:48stretch it's a lot of great space isn't it but it's it's top end of my budget it's on at 575 which
11:58is a bit pricey could you live in there how it is now and go oh lovely time yeah yeah
12:06dr range was responding well to our first day's dose of greenery i'd shown him two great homes each
12:15with the contemporary spin on country character he was itching for but we still had one very special
12:21appointment to make and for that i took him and tom to the area of the west pennine moors
12:29near the village of greenmount this is lovely isn't it very nice yeah let's see the sun out as well
12:36i reckon she's found us a nursing home just 15 miles north of manchester piccadilly station
12:43a nearby tower commissioned by a group of 19th century mill owners honored the first british
12:49prime minister from an industrial background sir robert peel my mystery built for one of those
12:56the same patrons made quite the vertical statement oh look at that oh my word it's a castle
13:09hold state your purpose we've come to see the mystery house all right then just come down here and come
13:16through the gate i'll see you down there all right babes the turret once had a practical
13:23purpose as a water tower but now formed part of an attached and one-of-a-kind home parts of which
13:29rose up across five stories we started in the single story wing of the ground floor where i couldn't
13:36guarantee shining nights but there was a sparkling kitchen diner it's quite cool in here isn't it
13:45you're really taking on this kingdom already i'm redesigning it in my head let's have a look across
13:51the way at the living room and then we'll tackle those floors
13:57it's got all the bones of a fantastic place but it just needs to be modernized a bit let's get your
14:02step on which is going what she's on off you go and i will find you later on okay discover you on
14:09the penultimate floor i cannot wait to see their faces the level above was all about bedrooms and
14:18bathrooms with two of each and on the second floor was a wardrobe fit for a king you can even put your
14:26crowns and tiaras up here if you're in your own castle i'm gonna put them somewhere all right let's go
14:31to the next floor look at this welcome darlings it's a bit of a boudoir isn't it it's your boudoir your
14:46main bedroom yes with that view out of that window and look at all these huge windows on the sides
14:52i don't need curtains because apart from here no one else is going to see in right and we haven't finished
14:58yet you ready for another floor yeah come on let's do this we're nearly there oh my word next floor
15:12keep going every floor's a different house sorry do you need to check my id before
15:17absolutely drinks dispensers you can oh my word have a popcorn machine in there
15:23and guess what and a slushy makeup there's one more floor there's another floor here's another one
15:29and then i promise it's over come with me to the fifth right
15:34it's the mystery house of course it's got its own roof terrace garden and a 360 view
15:42oh my gosh they are actually silent
15:51yes your kingdom your realm includes countryside a plenty and then over there manchester city
16:00do you know what i need one more thing what a crown yes you do need to be crowned
16:07it's funny you should say that because
16:12hello
16:16yeah when you're home the flags up i have a feeling this is spenny how much
16:22uh 680 i'm thinking 700 what about 550 000 pounds are you joking i'm not joking this is real i'm not
16:37hold on to me with its regal standing panoramic vistas and an asking price bang on budget my mystery
16:46really did seem to have taken the crown it took me a while to earn the title of doctor i'm not gonna
16:52lie but i'd be quite happy swapping that for king king king range you could be a one of my subjects
17:01i'm always the subject of something and when else are you going to live in a castle it's a castle
17:08our tour of the peak district and beyond had offered dr range a range of remedies for his urban fatigue
17:17some more remote than others but he could only give one the royal seal of approval
17:25if i'm a city boy and being out in the open being in remote areas albeit surrounded by beautiful
17:33countryside like this it's a bit of a scary thought i don't know how you've done it
17:38but you've managed to turn my mind completely around and i'm going to put in an offer
17:46blow me down
17:52we've decided i'm going to go for it i'm going to go for the castle
17:56and we're going to renovate it ourselves and i'm going to be there at the first cocktail party
18:02can you come back and have a drink at the top of the castle absolutely when it's done cheers
18:12true to his word ranch put in an offer on the mystery house and i'm delighted to say it was
18:19it's accepted it's been seven months since we left him and his hopes of doing a quick diy
18:26cosmetic job on a new home with tom careful have not quite gone to plan blimey
18:34the end of 2023 when we put the offer in that four five six months later it's going to be like this
18:44and this much work the former water tower has sprung several serious leaks and there's damage from top to
18:54bottom all calling for major repairs walls have had to be ripped out most of them scaffolding on the
19:01outside rewiring's being done boilers new yeah yeah that went pretty quick didn't it two weeks yeah
19:08and there's still more to go the home's insides have had to be stripped back to the brick tanked with
19:16waterproofing membrane and covered with layers of insulation some of the walls have even undergone
19:23intense surgery there was a giant crack down this corner where the building was literally coming apart
19:30and they had to stitch it back together behind it and then obviously seal it and now insulate it
19:37and insulate it all and board it and plaster it and forget that it ever existed
19:45gorgeous isn't it
19:53between the unwelcome stress and expense of remedial work
19:57dr ranj is helping the medicine go down with some treats ready for those finishing touches
20:04i think it's come all the way from china oh hang on
20:15oh my gosh it works that's great
20:21i can't wait to get onto the cosmetic bit yeah you didn't expect to take the walls down with the
20:25wallpaper it was supposed to be pretty um yeah it's been a lot but i think it's heading in the right
20:33direction i'm
20:38it's been well over a year since i was last here and dr ranj has been hard at work putting his stamp
20:44on his mystery house with the help of his good friend tom but it's not finished yet it is still a
20:50work in progress so i've come armed with one of these to see how they're getting on and maybe help
20:55out a bit
20:58well the scaffolding at the front is down
21:00hello hello i'm back come on in oh good to see oh good to be back let me show you around
21:14right follow me wow tom's like good to see you oh yeah yeah yeah he just hangs around
21:23the inside may still be a work in progress but structurally the ground floor has been opened up
21:29by removing the wall from the stairs to create a larger reception room my goodness this is not
21:37quite what i thought was going to happen after you bought it a little cosmetic change here and there
21:42as you remember i said i just i don't want anything that needs fixing or doing i just want
21:46somewhere that's ready to go and then we saw this place and thought fantastic let's do a cosmetic
21:52refurb we're still going we're still going that's a statement of the actual year that's definitely
21:58not what i'm doing nobody projects like i even came ready to help there's like there's a bit down
22:02there that needs to if you don't mind so it's very different out here already it's still a work
22:07in progress at the moment well i need to have a look around bottom to top or top to bottom oh let's go
22:13up okay let's do it next stop the third floor main bedroom oh my legs
22:26where a year ago we admired the view how many sets have we got at this place a sensible 72.
22:32and now i can admire how much work's already been done it's nice and warm it's nice and dry so i've
22:42heard you've had some issues so what happened so the day i got the keys it was pouring down with rain
22:48came up here to explore obviously looked around and saw some water coming down one of the walls in
22:53the corner thought that shouldn't be there and what do you do you poke the ceiling don't you obviously
22:59so i'd really literally poked the beast and the ceiling came down in that corner turns out there
23:03was a massive leak from the roof that had gone down the side of the building and started to
23:09affect the floors and i've just came down and slopped didn't you just poked it with the curtain pole
23:14how did you feel about that when you bought the place not wanting to do much yeah it's a bit of a
23:19heart sync moment because despite getting a survey which had shown that there was already lots of
23:23damp that needed sorting out what i didn't appreciate is how much work it was going to take to
23:28sort it out show me some more oh let me show you the other bedroom yes please
23:34back down on the first floor is the ensuite guest room
23:38i don't know if you remember it was quite dark and it was had that giant shag park carpet in here
23:44and it had lots and lots of damp so as you can probably tell definitely still a work in progress
23:50ended up replacing all of the radiators with these column ones which are currently off whilst we decorate
23:57but it's going to be completely revamped but i think it's going to be worth it it's wonderful
24:02i can feel that you're quite close now then i should imagine um well i had planned on finishing
24:08it six months ago so it's going really well isn't it and now what you have to do now is show me the
24:13kitchen because that's going to be the heart of the home right you need to know what's going to happen
24:17in there i'll show you where we're at with that okay
24:24the kitchen certainly looks more spacious and brightened by some additional skylight windows
24:31but well i can see there's a lot to do before ranch is ready to host
24:37how much of this work have you done yourself how involved have you been
24:40well the problem is a lot of it's specialist work so i've had to have a lot of trades people in
24:46and that's been costly say how's how's the costs going the budget so i had a really healthy budget
24:53for a cosmetic refurb i thought fantastic that's going to be a doddle my budget has had to more than
24:59double which i didn't plan for but i did negotiate really hard on the asking price and then i dropped it
25:05down again after the survey but i have unfortunately ended up spending a lot more than i planned to get
25:12back up to the value it was on yes probably yes has there been a point when you thought
25:17have i made a mistake yeah along the whole way i've really questioned did i take on too much did i
25:24have a bit enough more than i can chew i've been like the little angel on the shoulder so when he's
25:28like it's just look at it i'm like it'll be so worth it it's so gorgeous and the feeling that you
25:35get when you walk in it's just i'm in love with the building i've actually got an appointment to
25:41pick a kitchen today i picked the right day yeah yeah i love your viewpoint actually i'm delighted to
25:51be joining ranch for something he's been looking forward to since he took on his 200 year old castle
25:58oh i love a showroom some fun design choices guided by senior designer ben westgarth
26:06the lovely ben is helping me design and decide on a kitchen have you seen the water tower i have
26:14indeed so what we want to do is give you that really grand feel yeah in a slightly smaller space
26:20on a practical side what are things people should be looking out for when they are designing their
26:24kitchen um storage is a big one and really making sure the spaces work for you long term how many
26:30people are using the kitchen at once are you getting in the way of each other and then of course you
26:34know we can all sort of like you know be rash we want it to be really dramatic or we want it this or
26:39that we try and give you more time as kitchens you telling me not to get carried away aren't you
26:44so your brief was dark and sexy yes dark and sexy but still welcoming a bit like me ben has mocked up
26:55a design for rangers approval and has some samples for the finish of the focal piece island
27:03so what are you being drawn to at the moment i do really love this moody dark one but i feel like
27:08that's going to be really expensive and i'm a bit worried about cost yeah i mean it's where am i going
27:13to be investing the money and is there a cheaper alternative yeah yeah this is probably going to
27:22be a bit more cost effective um this is yeah it's a nice contrast as well against the dark colors
27:28actually that can be that little pop it's a light lovely big island you've got the light coming in
27:34from the extra skylights you put in and then the drama then the drama and isn't for once it's not
27:41just me it's not going to be you it's your kitchen i love it well i can see it already it's going to be
27:46fabulous just like its owner thank you back at the house artist and friend tom has something else to
27:55sell the sting in the tail of the unplanned mammoth renovation project so you've been really a big part of
28:02this whole project and you were so creative as we went around and now looks like you're bringing
28:08some of that creativity to the homes well i feel like there should be a little part of me that's um
28:13that's staying here so um i decided to gift this piece to go on the the top of castle water tower so
28:19i love it the queen bee absolutely oh there we go yeah i was like we were thinking of names so what's the
28:26inspiration behind this then um well being just outside manchester we thought well the manchester bee
28:31is a great icon the sort of the worker bee and i think we've put our work in on this one so it was
28:36very appropriate we're just going to cover it in iconography of manchester things ranch things the
28:42castle things like local to the area and make it really part of here i love that part of the story
28:48and maybe a little flag montage of moi waving it would be so sweet wouldn't it i'm still here
28:55what a gift what's it been like watching ranch go through this journey it was never the plan was it
29:01you can see that it's been stressful um and there's been lots of surprises along the way but i think he's
29:07really grown with the property as well and like we would have never thought would we this time like
29:12uh yeah the ranch i met doing all of that work imagine i know and this is going to be the ultimate
29:18symbol the cherry on the top the cherry on the top how about how hard it's worked something sweet
29:22on the top just say how much longer do you think it would take you i think it's going to take quite
29:25a while but um i think we've got a while and however long it takes i'll be back for that housewarming
29:42the last time i was here about seven or so months ago dr range was still in the thick of remodeling
29:50his already impressive mystery house well we've had the call and it's done the last lick of paint has
29:57gone onto the walls the new kitchen is in but before the big reveal i've come to his local country park
30:05to meet up with him and find out how he's settling in this beautiful setting is just 10 minutes from
30:13castle range but is he reaping the benefits of being a world away from his hectic life in london
30:22well ranch it's so amazing to be back here with you oh my gosh two years to the day i can't believe it
30:29you can't make it up two years to the day till we showed you our mystery house yeah and you bought
30:35it it's all your fault i know but you're all done now you're all done yeah i yes i still think that
30:42i'm going to tweak stuff um but i can't wait for you to see it it's it's very different to two years
30:52ago it's very different to the last time you came yeah it's i hope you like it but it's not just the
30:58house that's different is it i mean look where we are yeah and the whole thing for you was about
31:03moving away from a roundabout yeah in london with all the traffic and the noise and the stress
31:10of traveling and your jobs yeah to get more of this so have you been able to get
31:16some more peace and quiet and good countryside here i love that you said it was to try and reduce my
31:22stress these last two years have been very stressful at times um there's been a lot going
31:28on with the house that needed sorting out i've not really had much of a chance to enjoy a lot of
31:33this yet but i can't wait now i want to get out and do a lot more of this that's why we brought you
31:41hair please but now that it's done i'm really looking forward to just relaxing i can't wait for
31:48you to see it well let's go see it then come on we've taken the doctor out of the city but taking
31:55the city out of the doctor is proving to be more than a walk in the park still i am enjoying the
32:02anticipation and role reversal of ranch leading the tour of his now fully renovated home i remember
32:11doing this walk with you but obviously i was showing you yes there she is look oh
32:20the turret is flying the rainbow flag proudly celebrating its owner's award-winning advocacy
32:27for the lgbtq plus community welcome to the new house the opened out hall is now in its fully
32:41decorated glory with tantalizing glimpses to what lies beyond wow this is not the same house
32:49i love this the reception room has been stripped back and now feels luxuriously spacious with
33:07welcoming soft furnishings and a sophisticated black feature wall i can see me just curling up on that
33:14right having a nap you're the first proper guest to see this like last night i did 24 hours yeah
33:21all-nighter getting this stuff in here and getting it together and getting it it's like making a house
33:26a home with the things because it was just a space i'm blown away what on earth have you done with
33:31the rest just wait i want to see the kitchen please oh you need to see this okay come on
33:36come on oh my goodness what after ripping out the old units and adding more skylights
33:52range's vision of a dark and sexy kitchen is made real the dining island is ready for socializing
33:58adding the pop of white range was after how have you conjured so much more space here it was a good
34:07sized kitchen but it feels yeah luxury i added two more skylights roof lights in lots of like extra
34:16lighting wall lights mirrors everywhere so i think putting big things in has made it feel bigger because
34:22this is pretty large isn't it for the size of the kitchen but that's what it is it's dramatic yeah
34:27but yeah it's cozy and everything feels good and i have to say the color genius right i think
34:35this is a triumph yeah but you've only seen the ground floor i know we've got four more floors to
34:40get through come on yeah even the first floor landing has been given a facelift look at this everything
34:50about this place is luxury in the main bathroom the bog standard suite is gone making way for a
34:58freestanding bath and monochrome modernity whilst the first of the two guest bedrooms is now a snug come
35:06study oh again you've chosen such great material velvety blush texture cozy so i had a little idea okay let's have a look
35:20oh fabulous you've got a little office that is so gorgeous so that wallpaper that's in there i did that
35:28well in fact i did all the wallpapering in this house actually just loads of stuff you're painting
35:33straight lines you didn't tear the paper i was like very impressed yeah it really is a castle fit for
35:40its king but ranch hasn't neglected space to give overnight visitors a right royal welcome
35:46this is what i'll call my guest bedroom let's call it that well i don't mind if i do thank you very
35:53much the bed was in a different place wardrobes were a different color it's unrecognizable we've
35:59completely changed it as if you were staying in a hotel especially your cushions that's a good plumping
36:04there that's a good old child you're gonna be sleeping on the floor in here aren't you there's no
36:07chance you're getting into that i was supposed to get a double and i ended up getting a king yes i will
36:12sleep very well when i stay over have you seen your old bathroom there's more yeah i've forgotten
36:18about the bathroom this is my favorite bathroom i am in love with this house i'm really seeing
36:26ranja's signature style shine through everywhere here more stairs i want to show you this there's lights
36:34that we put into the wall my electrician thought i was bonkers and then we just layered all these lily
36:38pads on it it feels quite futuristic yet it's all about nature
36:45in the former dressing room there are more surprises
36:54this is amazing and it's got you got your standalone bath in here i've got a giant three
37:01meter tall wardrobes so you will be keeping all of your clothes in here absolutely plus some a bit of
37:07tom stuff is here as well tom's art i'm curious about how this vision came together i'm not an
37:15interior designer i just like houses and things which obviously tom's really artistic so he's been
37:20a great sounding board i think spending time in here has made a massive difference because it took
37:25so much longer than expected and i think if we'd have had a short amount of time you'd have just done
37:29what your original idea was perhaps it is one of the things i do recommend to people when they buy a house
37:34not to rush the decorating to live in it to spend time in it really understand the space and how
37:41you feel yeah i think you get a much better job where can we go next well you make your way up to
37:47the main bedroom i'll lead the way oh all right where once i appeared from behind a black curtain
37:54welcome and ranch discovered that ominous unwelcome leak is a beautiful principal bedroom that's now a
38:05watertight cocoon of serenity and comfort wow eyes immediately drawn out for the lights that organic
38:15kind of feeling to it and then you're looking out the windows you see in the country and it makes you
38:19feel calm doesn't it well when we first kind of saw this place i needed a change and the universe
38:26said here you go plonk here's a giant 200 year old water towel i'll sort that one out now you can just be
38:32like on the fifth floor the dartboards and bar have made way for a tv room
38:39and a reminder of what range is here for topping it all off the now repaired roof
38:50is a luxurious spot to enjoy the panoramic view or to welcome company
39:01but it's those cozy sofas in the ground floor reception
39:04that i really think are crying out for a road test it feels heavenly to be sitting down with
39:12you in this living room it's a pinch me moment for me i didn't grow up in environments like this
39:18so to be able to say it's mine does feel just surreal two years ago to the day you first laid eyes
39:29on yeah the tower yes i was in awe of it when you showed us it the first time and i feel like
39:34i've given something back to it because it deserved it it's got it's got a story and now hopefully it's
39:40got a new story even though it's taken a lot of work every aspect's been thought out with like longevity
39:46in mind as well when i got it it's energy performance certificate rating was an e which isn't very good
39:53it's gone to a b so not only not only have you brought the house back to its grand state but
40:01we've actually made it more energy efficient and hopefully it's going to last for hundreds of years
40:06to come what do you hope it gives to ranch now because he's given this house so much a space to
40:12relax he should like just take it all in and take a minute and just go do you know what i worked really
40:17hard to have that and be able to do that and that's that's you that's done you know what i mean
40:23you should be proud well i am honored to have been the first guest at the tower
40:29i hear you've got some more guests coming yes we're gonna have a little party
40:37it's been quite the journey but castle ranch is fully transformed into a warm
40:43welcoming sociable space that truly reflects its host
40:52well i couldn't come empty-handed could i i declare this tower officially opened my friend and all
40:58who sail in now that was a cool pop cheers everyone cheers thank you for coming cheers cheers
41:11friends and neighbors can't help but be impressed it's iconic this location is iconic and it's
41:16absolutely blown me away but from the minute i've set foot in you it takes your breath away we'll
41:21be booking in we will we will now proudly the king of his castle ranch wants to raise more than a glass
41:29given that you are the reason we found this place right you are responsible for all of this
41:34i thought maybe i should surprise you with something oh i'm nervous you know we've got a flag right
41:42yes well why don't we raise our own one yeah that is amazing would you like to raise it no i think it should

42:08i'll leave them to it well it appears that an escape to the country really is just what the doctor
42:30ordered after years of handing out prescriptions to help others dr range finally took hours one
42:38spectacular dose of a mystery house surrounded by the countryside and the results well they speak
42:45for themselves because dr range really is living proof that nature's medicine works wonders
