00:06Our beachfront dreamers want crashing waves and salty sea air.
00:10So grab your sunscreen and join us on the hunt for the ultimate beach house.
00:16It's been a hard day hunting.
00:17I have a feeling today is going to be a lot of fun.
00:32I'm working with Marilyn and Kev who are ready to retire here to Paradise,
00:37otherwise known as Fraser Island or Kagari.
00:40The final barge leaves the island at 4.30 this afternoon
00:43and Marilyn wants to have made her decision by then.
00:47The clock is ticking, let's go shopping.
00:58We met on a blind date and we've been together ever since.
01:02We want to be together forever
01:04and our children and our grandchildren can come here and enjoy their time with us.
01:09That's what it's all about.
01:10We've waited long enough to buy a house over here and...

01:1520 years and the time seems to be right.
01:18We need somewhere to relax.
01:20We need a piece of paradise and this is it.
01:22This is the best island in the world, we think.
01:25We want to retire, maybe next year,
01:28but we've got a big business to run.
01:30That's why we want it today.
01:32We've got to work hard so we want this to look forward to once a month
01:36to come to our little piece of paradise.
01:39We'd like to stick about the 800,000 mark.

01:43We could go higher but we feel as though the 800,000 would be right for us.

02:13Fraser Island, also known as Garry,
02:16is located a few hours north of the Sunshine Coast,
02:19right next to Harvey Bay.
02:21Being a UNESCO World Heritage Site,
02:24the island is made up of gorgeous beaches,
02:26rugged terrain and also some incredible wildlife
02:29that, much like the visitors,
02:31can't help but take in the beauty.
02:36With plenty of activities to do with their visiting family,
02:40plus many spots to just kick back and take in the ocean breeze,
02:43I'm not surprised why Marilyn and Kev want a slice of island paradise.

03:35which is why this morning we're seeing so many four-wheel drives

10:35And I think this house really has a beautiful combination of the two.

16:53I was lucky enough to catch up with Ash,
16:55who runs Fraser Dingo 4WD Tours,
16:59where he told me more about this island paradise.
17:02Thank you for loaning me a high-vis four-wheel drive
17:07for my trip onto the island today.
17:08I'm not going to get missed and I'm not going to get bogged.
17:11So Ash, when did your love affair with Kigari begin?
17:14Oh my God, it's a long story,
17:15but it goes way back about 40 years.
17:18My parents hired a houseboat in Harvey Bay
17:21and we ended up here on the west coast of Fraser
17:23into Central Station.
17:24I still remember it.
17:25It's just one of those magic places on earth
17:27that we just love to come to.
17:29And then it's just developed from there.
17:31Basically, we started out of our backyard,
17:33small business, over 14 years ago.
17:35It's been a journey.
17:36It's been amazing.
17:37We have about 30 cars now, about over 10 staff,
17:40so a bit of a success story
17:41because we have a lot of passion.
17:43People come from the other side of the world
17:45just to come here.
17:47They come over here,
17:48they're just blown away
17:49by the amazing beauty of this place.
17:51And they come back and they say,
17:52look, that was the best thing we've done in Australia.
17:55I'm working with a couple today.
17:57They live on the mainland.
17:58They've always holidayed here.
17:59And now they're ready to make the move
18:01and live here permanently.

18:04But for all the right reasons.

18:10and they go, oh my God, I want to go back.

19:40It was sort of split over the levels.
19:42Again, it had the separate studio.
19:44Which was good for us.
19:45It's quite convenient, yeah,
19:46depending on how you're going to use the property.
19:48Very beachy.
19:49It's a great part of town, that second valley.
19:51And I think the idea of being in a complex like that,
19:53if you are travelling or coming and going,
19:55you've got that extra level of people
19:57looking after the whole area.
19:59And it did have that real quintessential beach house feel.
20:02Yeah, definitely, definitely.
20:05House number three, same complex, single level,
20:09right there, front row with, I would say,
20:12a million dollar location,
20:13but under a million bucks that you have to spend.
20:15That's for sure.
20:16Still a little bit of work there.
20:18There would be changes that you'd want to make.
20:20Yeah, there's definitely changes we'd make,
20:22but things that we can do ourselves.
20:25I think we've made our mind up.

20:38might have been our choice.
